When James Earl Jones' character says to them about his baseball, "This one is signed too, along with the rest of the 1927 Yankees," that's a big deal. The '27 Yankees had a famous lineup, known as Murderer's Row. It consisted of Earle Combs, Mark Koenig, Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Bob Meusel and Tony Lazzeri. It was called Murderer's Row, because those were first six hitters on the roster, and the lineup was so deadly that by the time those six were up and done at bat, the Yankees were up by 4-6 runs. They're widely considered one of the best lineups in baseball history. They were almost unstoppable.

I didn't see this movie as a child but I really liked it altho it doesn't have a sense of nostalgia for me. I didn't play baseball as a kid and was never interested in sport but I can appreciate how well the movie depicts childhood and coming of age.
For me Stand By Me is more nostalgic because i grew-up in the country and I did play on the train tracks, go exploring in the woods and swim in the creek with my friends.

Absolute childhood classic right here, that Beast puppet scared the hell out of me as a kid. It doesn't feel like a sports movie at all, it's more of a slice of life/period piece, and being set in the past helps stop it from feeling dated. Definitely gives those feelings of childhood nostalgia even for a time that you might not have been alive

I love this movie. The way childhood is portrayed in this film is so relatable. Reminds me of my childhood growing up, playing outside with my friends. The best times ❤ The movie Angels in the Outfield was another film with baseball that was also great to watch when i was a kid

I love the fact that it's a movie about a group of kids, but really made for adults. It really plays o the old neighborhood nostalgia vibe a lot of us had growing up. That group of friends you constantly hung around with, usually centered around playing outside somewhere whether its a home-made ball field, swimming spot, whatever...

Only knowing Dennis Leary from Spiderman movies is a shame. There is a Christmas-themed movie he stars in called "The Ref" which would give you a better appreciation of his comedy...with Christmas coming up and all...nudge, nudge, wink, wink
