The North Norfolk is one of my favourites, and one of the first I ever went to as a kid! Always happy to see it featured 🥰 and its very easy to get to, it's literally opposite the Sheringham National Rail station! And I can vouch for the MNR, I've been multiple times and its a lovely railway! As is the Bure Valley Railway, a 15" gauge railway running on a former standard trackbed from Wroxham to Aylsham, with a preserved signal box at the Wroxham terminus. It's a really nice run!
I volunteer on the NNR as part of a youth development club in the sheds at weybourne and it is so cool I say give a search about it if you live near by
For my mini holiday last year, I stayed in Norwich and cycled the Marriott's way, visitied the Whitwelll and Reepham stations. Plus went to Sheringham to see the NNR. Probably will do this every year, as it's a great mini break. Bit of relaxed off-road cycling, bit of heritage railways. Can't go wrong. I must visit the MSR this Spring now as well.
The Bressingham museum has one of the static steam engines from my old place of work, the Chivers jam factory in Histon also our Fire engine went to the collection there.
not forgetting other east anglian areas that are ignored like the Bramley Line Heritage Railway , Nene Valley Railway in cambridgeshire 7 half miles long, East Anglian Railway Museum, Colne valley, Audley End Miniature Railway , Barnards Miniature Railway, Mangapps Railway & Museum , Epping Ongar railway in essex, essex has quite a few miniature railways, less of the tmc plug once is fine
I’ve been to North Norfolk Railway before, but never ever visited the other four. I personally like to visit both MSLR and Whitwell & Reepham as they’re really interesting places with different locos & stock. I would like to visit the MSLR, but with no bus service to the site, it going to be difficult for to reach actually.
I would have loved to see the Bury St. Edmunds to Sudbury line become a heritage line. Too late now with houses built across it. It would have linked two large towns and included tourist hotspots like Lavenham and Long Melford. It would even have been useful for commuting with the A134 getting so busy. It might even have been a good commuting line to London from BSE, avoiding changing at Ipswich.
Great choices. Shout out to the East Anglian Railway Museum (first place I ever drove a steam locomotive, and the Bure Valley which I loved when I visited for the first time this year.
@04:42 that is a Beyer Peacock & Company Works No 6841 William Francis 0-4-0+0-4-0T. Backwood miniatures did an excellent kit that I built but sold on. Bayer Garratts - no one seems to be interested in them anymore. If I ever win the lottery I will get 6841 running again.
its a shame the 9f has that wheel flange issue [cant remember the specifics] that basically means they cant be mainline certified [again probably wrong terminology] im a big big fan of the 9f
@@lmm i am going to have to actually re read this so i can pretend that i knew the details i just remember it came up in conversation online years ago when i was looking into that 9f that is in my local area that is slightly illusive [i think its at shillingstone now so not as illusive as it use to be] anyway im rambling now lol nice video and was nice to see someone else as enthusiastic about the old beasts as i am lol
*deep breath* It's just 149. 99 representing an amazing sale of over 150 pounds, these ludicrous prices simply can't last and you'll need to move fast to get your own Black Prince in miniature. Something like that anyway 😂
Regarding video titles: While the last one is still translated, this one seems fine and shows the english original title. Thank you 👍🏼 Edit: Original voice by default, too. Much appreciated. AI option appears to be gone.
More railways to add to my bucket list of places to visit.
Cheers Lawrie 👍😁👍.

There is also us over at the Mid-Norfolk Railway in Dereham. :3
My offer regarding your ticket still stands!
I just don't have any footage of the line!

It's a super railway
@@lmm I know I’ve gone there since I can remember and it has never lost it’s touch on beauty
Very disappointed the Mid Norfolk Railway wasn't mentioned
I don't actually have any footage of it.
Stills, but maybe one it two clips of video.
Always welcome to come and get more footage and be good to see you. We reopen on March 1st.
you should of included the MNR, its a great line
I just don't have any footage of it

I have seen a film about a group of people taking over a shut down railway and it became so popular that they had to start regularly services

Oh really!
I think I've seen that one running!
@@lmm I think it is run on compressed air at the museum, I remember watching it operate on steam fed by Lancaster boilers.
@fenman1954 could be right, I don't know if the boiler in there works anymore.
Good to highlight East Anglian railways, would be good to see a video of the Bure Valley Railway in the future, maybe one for 2025?

Might go to these one day
Would rather recommend it!

Both MSLR and Whitwell do put on a bus service for some special events
Dude, that sponsor spot was next level 😂 Took me a second to realize and i would have watched more.
Thank you, I am very pleased with how it came together

Me to but so much of the track bed has been built on now!

EARM I drive at, but I have limited footage, and I have nothing of the Bure valley

I would love to see it steam
I'd love to see a Lawrie Goes Loco/Lawrie Goes a Little Loco episode looking at the WWLR Garratts one day!
I have tried to arrange it on a few occasions
If all goes to plan looking forward to going to bressingham with someone next year!
It's a good day out - especially when everything is running
great vlog on rail way thanks for vlg on channel thanks lee
Glad you enjoyed it
alt title: The five heritage railways of East Anglia
I've missed out 5 in Suffolk and Norfolk.
Then there's Essex and the border with Cambridge
love em
Me too
Lawrie are you going to the train of lights tvis year?
I haven't any plans to
@lmm oh, I might be going with my friends for my bday
@notsoaveragerailwayguy it's well worth doing
What's happening with black prince? Has it been plinthed?
its a shame the 9f has that wheel flange issue [cant remember the specifics] that basically means they cant be mainline certified [again probably wrong terminology] im a big big fan of the 9f
Yeah, the flangeless driver is not acceptable for the mainline

It's sad that black prince isn't in service anymore
Hopefully it won't be out for too long
@lmm yes
As far as I am aware the plan is to have it back in steam within five years as there is not enough space in the works to overhaul it
cool
I agree
I could be wrong, but do you reckon you could buy a OO gauge 9f from TMC for £100 off?😂
Did you know Sams Trains drove a 9F?
In oo scale?
@@lmm irl
How much is that 9F again? 🤣

No Mid Norfolk. No Bure Valley !
