    It was great to meet you and chat with you, and I stand by my assertion that the 'Nearly Competent Modellers Association' is an absolutely brilliant name!
    The train of trucks loaded with ducks was hauled by Mallard, which let's be honest, is probably the only appropriate loco for that job!

  • @bentullett6068

    I didn't notice all of the test locomotives from manufacturers at all on the Saturday😂.
    There was however competition on running second hand locomotives and models at the show as the Branston and Hayden layout was running mainly second hand models.

      @@lmm Not much choice for my layout sets in the late 50s. But I like the open cab form, and it makes the nice 48DS crew (or the LMM crew if I swap them, as I got both) figures from Modelu more visible.

    Modular: First time I've seen a roof-less Tri-ang van on an exhibition layout! (Not sure I approve!!!)
    The graffiti'd coaches are very well executed, and I didn't appreciate what was written on them until you mentioned it, but they won't be appearing on any of my layouts. I hate this mindless graffiti (while wishing the obvious artistic talent was directed at something more appropriate) and my idealised world (my model railway) does not suffer vandalism, or litter, come to that!
    Loved Campbell's Quarry, and the (Hornby 4W) funicular, but too many other highlights to mention.

  • @monitorlizardkid8253
    @monitorlizardkid8253 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    So what the heck, I'm just going to throw this out there: I agree wholeheartedly that the model train hobby is ultimately supposed to be "fun" above all else. I may not have a layout(yet, I have plenty of track for the floor and a camera to film train chase action scenes with my plastic army men), but I have a good story for the locomotives I own, simply put, the green federation(the good guys) and tan oligarchy(their leadership and military are the bad guys, but the people inwardly hope to be free) aren't just a military with tanks and jets, they have an economy they need to upkeep, and the greens in particular like their steam locomotives, they have modernized them to the Nth degree, things like battery packs in the tenders to help with electrical power to the coaches. I also plan to have the greens someday build a 4-8-6, which was going to be built in real life, but the end of steam came too soon. the 4-8-6 in question is supposed to have space age tech in it's boiler, allowing for ultra high pressure and greater power. At one point the 4-8-6 will stop a runaway train being pulled by a diesel hydraulic switcher, simply by chasing it down, coupling up behind it, and slamming on the brakes. On another note, the head of the green railway company and Alcroft locomotive works, Sir Roger Alcroft, is named partially after Britt Alcroft(who worked on the Thomas the tank engine series and Thomas and the Magic Railroad, both of which are a piece of my childhood), and is heavily based on Sir Topham hat, having a deep, upper class British accent, and being a tough but very forgiving boss to his employees, the biggest difference between roger and his inspiration is the fact that he successfully lost the weight.
