    Great video! One question for you. While replacing the clutch, is it worth taking the basket off and checking the tube nut? I'm about to do the clutch on my 07 and wanted your opinion. I have no symptoms of tube nut being loose... Thanks

      all depends on how you ride it and if it is adjusted correctly. Friend had 105k on his 109 clutch before he blew the motor up.

      You're welcome and thanks so much for the compliment on the video. We have been doing these clutches for a long time, and normally we do them for the cost of the clutch (no mark up) and $350 in labor, unless we need to get into the oil pan. So, we were getting people out the door for $800 or less and had customers calling and telling us the dealer was quoting them $1500 or more to do a clutch. Decided we would make this video so people can do it themselves and save as much money as possible. We even now sell the full clutch kit cheaper than anywhere else so people are really saving now 🙂

    Sorry to bother you about this again, I did the mod on the pushrod (ground 3 flats) and it still chatters. I did not ride it very long, does it take a while for the oil to work through? I am going to try to lean the bike to the right (with my son`s help) to see if that helps. Thanks!

      @lhcycles1301  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Did you replace the wave washer and inspect the main drive plate? The oiling is immediate but if you didn't replace the wave washer and inspect the main drive plate, that could be your issue. Sometimes it gets grooved. Also, the wave washer is a spring and we believe that due to lack of oil, it gets hot and also contributes to the issue, which is why we always replace that.

      1 full turn is what the manual calls for. I prefer 3/4 as it keeps the engagement closer to the grip. Either one works fine.

      Have seen them snap at 8 ft/lbs. It won't leak when snugging up good. Never had one leak in over 100 clutch jobs. Also, if the torque wrench is not calibrated well, and is reading low, it will snap those bolts. Have seen this a few times now.

    I just followed this and when adjusting the set screw to get a little tension on it now there is not enough room to get the lock/jam nut on. What could cause that. The arm is all the way up. Do i need to adjust the arm.

    • @lhcycles1301
      @lhcycles1301  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      When the screw bottoms out, you back on 3/4 to 1 turn and you will be fine. When you do that the nut isn’t able to be in the threads? If so then something is wrong with the clutch or install. What year bike and what clutch did you put in?

      @@maxamus01 Ok, I have no luck with those and we won't install them. Most of our customers that come in with burnt up clutches tend to be EBC. There is a measurement called "stack height" and that is the measurement of the full clutch pack. if the stack height is off and is too high, your pin needs to go in further and that could be your issue.

    I have a feeling this is what is wrong with my recently purchased bike. I just started getting bad clutch chatter at times when pulling out from a stop in 1st gear - not all of the time though. I`m thinking the clutch was never adjusted and now it may have burned clutch plates? I have read about doing a pushrod mod (grinding the sides to allow more oil to pass), are you familiar with this?

    • @lhcycles1301
      @lhcycles1301  ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually your issue is from lack of oil. Look up the clutch pin mod where it is ground on 3 sides to allow more oil.

      Thanks! You can torque older bolts with no issues. The only ones you don't want to do is torque to yield bolts, like in heads etc... Those stretch when you torque them so you will see a failure if you reuse them. I torque just about everything, but small bolts I trust my "feel" more than a torque setting.

    Can you post or add how far the clutch should be moving after the install? I just changed mine but once I get everything back together and pull the clutch it still doesn’t work? Think I need a new clutch cable? I just replaced it though with the motion pro armor coat clutch cable from parts giant.

    • @lhcycles1301
      @lhcycles1301  ปีที่แล้ว

      In the beginning of the video, you can see it where I talk about the pressure plate. After you have it all back together, and have it adjusted, is the arm moving up and down? If the cable is new, then that should not be the problem. Did you do the internal adjustment when doing the clutch?
