      Thank you for commenting dear. You can use this formula as a base. And add in your active ingredients..
      As an example: If you wish to add 3 % of an active ingredient that is oil base during the cooling phase, you must deduct this 3% from the avocado oil used in the oil phase..

    I have been having difficulties making anything with water because getting distilled water here is a challenge, its quiet expensive where i am. Aloe vera juice and rose water are also quite expensive.
    My questions:
    1. Can i use normal tap water to make distilled water and cucumber hydrosol?
    2. Can i use boiled tap water in place of distilled water?
    Thank you so much in advance for your response, ma ❤

      Thank you for asking, I am feeling better. Here is a video on how to make distilled water at home. This may help you: th-cam.com/video/JnIYZuQGNok/w-d-xo.html
      If you have difficulties preparing it, you can boil tap water, perhaps filter it before boiling it.. it all depends on the tap water quality in your area.

      @@cecilvig Happy Holidays Cecil! Hope all is well. That's ok, I just wanted to ask because I'm trying to figure out how to keep the magnesium lotion from separating. The magnesium oil is water based and if it sits too long, it starts to separate. I will try using xanthan gum and/or the emulsifying wax. I will keep you posted on how it turns out. Magnesium oil has lots of wonderful benefits for the body that I love. I love watching your videos. Thank you so much for taking the time to share them with us. I am learning a whole lot. I read somewhere that liquid germal plus isn't safe to use in kids product, but from the supplier I saw nothing of such, I would keep reading on it, do you think I can just use optiphen plus? What hydrosol would you recommend for dry skin or fragrance?

      Yes, some countries have restrictions when it comes to using Liquid germall plus. Below is a little information on the usage of LGP:
      Restrictions:
      For US and Japan:
      -Not for use in aerosols
      -Approved for use in creams and lotions
      -Approved for use in rinse off products
      For European Union (EU):
      -Not for oral hygiene and lip care products
      -Not to be used in products for children under 3 years old, except in bath products/shower gels and shampoos
      -Not to be used in body lotion and body cream
      I hope the above information helps.

    Dear Cecil. I heard that glycerin draws moisture from the skin and that over time the skin will be very dry unless glycerin is used constantly. Do you know anything about that? Thank you

    • @cecilvig
      @cecilvig  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      As glycerine is a humectant, it draws moisture form the atmosphere to the skin, so that the skin can stay moisturised. I also read somewhere that when the air is too dry, glycerine will dry water from the skin to moisturise the outer layer of the skin, and that is why when making creams and lotion, it is important to add an occlusive whose job is to form a protective coating on the surface of your skin to seal in moisture.

      @cecilvig  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No dear, beeswax is not the same as emulsifying wax. Beeswax cannot blend water and oil together.

    New subscriber here. Thank you for the detailed and informative videos. I have a few questions:From your experience; which emulsifier is better in giving a smooth and light(not heavy consistence) for lotions between the GSC (Glyceryl Stearate) and Emulsifying wax NF?
    Also have you had good experience with using Glycerine as a preservative and also how much shelf life?
    Thank you for your response in advance. Keep up the good work, blessings!

    • @cecilvig
      @cecilvig  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for watching the video and thank you for subscribing. From my experience, emulsifying wax NF is preferable, cos it is versatile and really easy to work with.
      Creams and lotions with Glyceryl Stearate are absorbed very well and leave no greasy shine, but pH value of emulsion made with Glyceryl Stearate is around 6.8 and 8.2 and thus already in the slightly alkaline range, meaning you will need add a co emulsifier or a gel former to get a stable cream, then lower the pH value..
      You can use glycerine as a preservative but in a 100% grams formulation, at least 55% must be glycerine, which can be very unpleasant on the skin.
      I talked about this in this video: th-cam.com/video/DvAn-ijbdd8/w-d-xo.html

      Thank you dear, but I do not make Sunscreen, for it is considered a medicine. To be on the safe side, please buy your sunscreen and do not use DIY because as a DI Y, one cannot determine the SPF , something the pharmacist need years to determine.. with heaps of tests and trials..

    Hi, is there any alternative for emulsifying wax?

    • @cecilvig
      @cecilvig  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It can be replaced with Ritamulse SCG, Olivem 1000 or BTMS-50 and BTMS-25. The first two may change the consistency.
      BTMS-50 and BTMS-25 are cationic, which affects skin feel and may interact with other ingredients in the formula.
      Please research each of these emulsifying waxes to understand how they differ from NF emulsifying wax. Some may have different pH, charge and phase size requirements and your formulation may or may not meet these requirements.

      If you used a different emulsifying wax, and did not make any adjustments of the oils to fit the emulsifying wax you used, then it makes sense that your formulation will have a different texture than the one on the tutorial.

      There are many options, it depends on what you have.. HMW and SLMW Hyaluronic acid, will be a good start.. If you add the above mentioned, you must leave out the xanthan gum, since HMW hyaluronic acid is also a gelling agent.
