    Nice teaser... so I bought the DVD lesson... one of the best presented video formats I've used:: One 12 bar solo at a time, with a fast version, a slow version, note by note walk through w fingering, the tab and a backing track for each of the 20+ lessons, which made for quick learning of a guitar style I've admired for years. Very helpful way to expand fretboard skills beyond the pentatonic box position and worth considerably more than the small cost. such a nice job, Damian.... Congrats and thank you

    Setzer is a monster player... he is a master improviser who absorbed so much great music that is all comes out of his playing naturally. We can only dream to do what he does!

    Damian, You have an uncanny ability to morph right into what you're doing without adding additional material. I've seen a ton of players play rockabilly cuts but they always impart some of their main style or at least throw in a trademark bend or pulloff and kill the moment. Your playing is so clean both picking wise and from added stuff. Your tone is also spot on for what you're demonstrating.
    Great video!

    Just a small suggestion. It would be helpful to have a tiny bit of theory behind these licks.

    Thanks for your efforts, these are great.

      @@hammettfcb 3 years from the original comment and I almost posted the exact same thing. Damian is also using this to sell his lessons, so if some theory was offered as part of his paid lessons I might be enticed to buy one. If he is just sharing tabs, there isn't much point.

      Nice place, 23trd of september the rolling stones will play at LUCCA right outside the medieval walls and it's near S. Giuliano terme about 50 km.
      That area is full of History and great places to visit and obviously great food and great wines.
      I live in Milan (the fashion city).
      Como lake is not far away 40 min. by car (where George Clooney bought an ancient luxury villa)

    Great stuff! But I always wonder why some guitarists, (as here), do runs with fingers reaching over (missing) a fret, rather than playing adjacent frets. Clapton does it, Johnny Winter used to do it, and millions of others. I know that many guitarists are basically three-finger guitarists, but since you, Damian, seem to be a four-finger man, this is puzzling for me - as a lifelong four-finger man, who tends to use a finger per fret. Why jump one? But still, you clearly have the facility to get around a guitar, so I'm just curious...!

    • @fiddleandfart
      @fiddleandfart 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Right... Looking at what you do, I think it's a strength thing, isn't it? Favouring the third, rather than the fourth finger on your pull-offs - and, favouring fingers 1-2-3, on your runs? OK, fair enough. Whatever's best to play those licks, eh? No problem...

    • @Damianblf
      @Damianblf  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Paul
      Good question. Being a life long BMX rider, I've damaged my pinky finger many times & it's very weak. I'll use it if I need to or if it just makes more economical sense to use it. But if I'm playing something like rapid fire pull offs, I'll opt to use my stronger fingers that have never been hurt.
      Stay s
      Safe & Keep on Rockin'

    • @fiddleandfart
      @fiddleandfart 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Damianblf OK, Thanks for the quick reply, and I understand. Actually, inspired by your lively tutorials, and playing away, I notice I do both: four fingers sometimes, but also, sometimes, reaching across a fret with the third (often on the B string), to put the pinky high on the E, say, next. Yeah, I accept that we all do whatever gives us the notes. And, I realise, that after fifty-odd years of guitar, I really should be less puritanical, and snobby, about four-fingered playing! You just have to do what's best in the moment, don't you? And for those of us who've played a long time, you're hardly aware of the brain getting in the way, in any case. It's often music direct to, and through, the fingers, isn't it? Sheer in-the-moment expression..! And your teaching is great, by the way..!

    • @fiddleandfart
      @fiddleandfart 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Indeed.... whenever I get snobby about fingering, someone should just say to me: "Django Reinhardt...," and I should crawl away, shamefaced, into a small, dark room..!
