I absolutely LOVED the Barbie movies growing up! They'd always come out right before my birthday, so they were always a fun gift to look forward to. I have so many fond memories of watching them with my sister and singing along to all the songs. I never really minded how the characters and animation looked because I always felt that they intentionally looked plastic to match the dolls that they made for the movies. It felt fitting for movies that were framed/marketed as plastic dolls being the "actors" playing parts in a story to look a little too plastic compared to other movies. I also loved the little animated "bloopers reel" that would play during the end credits to help sell the idea that the dolls were the actors and Barbie was the big name a-list celebrity they plastered all over the ads/marketing. You can see this in how the movies always started their titles with "Barbie As..." or "Barbie In..." (Though tbh I do remember "Christmas Carol" being one of my least favorites. "Nutcraker" was the better Barbie Christmas movie IMHO, but I haven't seen it in years so it might be nostalgia depending on how it's aged.)
I've watched only two (I think) Barbie movies as a kid. The one where Barbie finds some fairies on her wall/home and the one where she becomes a mermaid. And to be honest I don't know what to say. I don't know why I watched these two movies, but I just want to forget about them once and for all. They deserve to be forgotten in my mind
Netflix's Scrooge A Christmas Carol is one of my favorite versions, I always loved the 1970 Scrooge musical but the added songs in the Netflix version really elevated the already great adaptation of the story to a new height. That and the animation was stunning, I loved the way they showed scenes of young Scrooge and his sister in a way that mirrored Tiny Tim and his sister. I thought everything about the way Scrooge and Isabelle in that person was really well done too (the song she sings when she leaves gives me goosebumps). I also adore the way the ending made Scrooge's affirmation from the 1970 version into a moving song. It also did a thing that I love when adaptations do by having both joyful moments at the end happening combined with Scrooge having the Christmas celebration with both his Nephew and the Cratchett family. (some versions only show the Cratchett family or do it so he only has the goose delivered but then surprises them the day after Christmas). I also loved the way that in the Past segment, Past shows the vision that Isabelle found love again and had a happy ending (it's a book accurate moment that rarely gets shown in movies). I also really liked that when Scrooge has changed he looks at the silver pocketwatch she gave him and wholeheartedly says he is glad that Isabelle found happiness, since it shows that he's genuinely past any bitterness and wants a bright future. I even really like Prudence the dog since her doggy reactions probably illustrate the emotion the dialogue is conveying to the really little kids who's heads it might go over since they do use a lot of the Dickens text and convey a lot of the serious subject matter. It was also really striking that in the Ghost of Christmas Future scene we see Scrooge's body emerge from the grave as a ghost like Marley's ghost. My only quibbles is that I wish that they'd kept Ignorance and Want since it's always a good touch when versions don't shy away from it. Plus this version was a little bubbly, I could've appreciated a touch of the more dark moments (I didn't need to be Zemeckis dark, I don't like it going that far, but just a shade darker wouldn't be bad). That and ... maybe Scrooge could've looked more old, just adding more wrinkles on his face would've gone a long way. The story works best when Scrooge is old enough that his miserly lifestyle (eating cheap gruel, wearing clothing threadbare, and living in a freezing cold house just to save every cent possible) would have in fact killed him by the next Christmas, making it seem likely that both he and Tiny Tim could've died the following Christmas.
I have to be honest, I love the Jim Carey Disney’s a Christmas carol and the Netflix version Scrooge a Christmas carol. They are both really good! Disneys has a mixture of frightening scenes and heart warming scenes at the appropriate times and it has plenty of action packed scenes such as my favorite when he is chased by the horse drawn hurst. Then Netflix’s has very fun and catchy songs and lots of heart warming moments and fun scenes. Those two movie’s definitely make it to the top 10 in my favorite Christmas movies. Not to mention the animation is Netflix’s version is visually outstanding and I love the characters of the spirits with Past being my favorite.
I love the Muppets Christmas Carol, like you said, that'll always be number 1. However, my second favourite would have to be the 2010 Doctor Who Christmas special, I love how it doesn't just coincidentally follow the story, the Doctor consciously uses Dickens's novel as the basis for his plan
0:50 The disney version is the one I watched in school, and I still love it. Even my little pony made their own Christmas carol episode. The 2009 one STILL scares me lol
I think doing all the fairytopia movies in order would make for a fun mega long video. I would love to see his reaction to Bibble in particular. Bibble is an icon. Bibble is a legend. And Bibble is the moment.
Mariposa is one of my favorites. Idk I felt it was better than Magic of the Rainbow realistically speakin. That and the second Fairytopia series movie are probably in my opinion the best ones with a close third for the first movie in the Fairytopia series
For some reason, this story always held a special place in my heart, but oddly was scary to me? Maybe it's the concept of death hitting kids in the face, maybe it's the horrible cgi most of the time, who knows? But yeah I was a scaredy cat kid anyways so 😂
"VHS Christmas Carol" is a really great version. A very 80's style musical. Can be easily listened to on spotify without missing much from the stage performance/music videos.
Yeah, the Scrooge movie in 2022 is probably the best animated one in my opinion. It portrays the guilt and humanity that Scrooge has when we're going through his past. However, the Christmas carol movie that's probably the most accurate to the book has got to be the 1951's version because it shows all of Scrooge's past.
finally someone mentions the netflix musical one! I barely hear any word about it online. Its a bit cheesy, but very fun. I still enjoy the barbie one. and I do need to give them props for purposefully making the barbie character a total bitch, and that moment of implication of parental abuse at the end of the past scene. my community college fall play this year was A Christmas Carol, but it was a different take on it where a jaded Mrs Crachet has a midlife crisis and hijack's Scrooge's journey
My little pony G4 also made an episode where Starlight Glimmer was scrooge, Apple Jack was the ghost of Christmas past, Pinkie pie is the ghost of Christmas present, then Princess Luna is the ghost of christmas future (or in this case, “yet to come”) And there are songs in it but I think they’re amazing.
Honesty the rob Zemeckis Christmas Carol has grown on me and is one of my favorite adaptations i like to watch. Along with the mickey’s Christmas carol. Barbie was definitely and interesting version
I remember my 1st time seeing a version of the story was the "other" disney version, not the one in 3D, but the one with scrooge mcduck, mickey and the other characters
I love the muppet one and the disney one with Scrooge mcduck. *but* I think the most faithful animated one was the jim carrey one. If you're old school Cosgrove Hall's Advenger penguins even did an episode baaed off Christmas carol too.
Man, a Christmas Carol is one of my favorite stories of all time, despite me not being British or from the U.S., I actually live in South America, where we celebrate Christmas in the summer, but for some reason Dickens' story resonates a lot with people all over the world. The first version I watch as a kid was probably more than 25 years ago, it was animated version made by Family Goodtimes, that company that made a lot of Disney knock-offs, but for some reason that version was played a lot on Cartoon Network Latin America since the late '90s up until the mid-2000s, since then I watched many other versions and for high-school my teacher made us read the original book, the only Dickens' story I actually read in Spanish I actually like the Zemeckis version, is pretty close to the book, though perhaps too close at times
I watched the 2009 version in theaters when I was around 7 years old. I don't remember ever finding it scary but really really boring. I fell asleep mid way through the movie with my mom nudging me back awake, I only missed like 20 Mins and was disappointed that it wasn't over yet, sitting through to the ending felt like an eternity.
OHHH Barbie Christmas Carol, my beloathed. I grew up with the Barbie films, and I 100% distinctively had a dislike for that one LMAO Nutcracker was definitely my favourite of the Christmas Barbie films, and up there as one of my favourite Barbie films overall, but I will 100% not deny Christmas Carol SUCKED
I love your vids nd I see why you would think Barbie is about having tea parties or something stereotypically 'girly' but Barbie in the beginning were first a few movies on different ballet nd then mostly focuses on friendships like girl friendships or sisters bonding there might be romance but it's often overshadowed nd from the one dimensional guy to the relationship between the girls depending on how you see that relationship the movies at least broke away from girls like fashion nd shoping so that's our story even when Barbie becomes a movie bout fasion they at least take the time to make Ken interesting a bit nd yeah there's a BCU nd it can get confusing to understand that without watching it all but most movies you can mindlessly watch without order...just me giving my R2 for whatever it's worth
I like the Netflix one but at the same time only about two songs in it held my attention maybe three if I ever remember to look up the song being sung in the future
I've seen quite a number of film adaptations of A Christmas Carol, and I personally found the Netflix version to be pretty awful. For me, it really misses the point of how the story should be told by being way too colorful, and the songs only take away from the seriousness of the story. It completely changes the tone by being way too lighthearted. I get that it's geared more towards a younger audience, but that can certainly be done with more dignity than this. Take A Muppet Christmas Carol, which I wouldn't call a kids movie, but rather a family-friendly movie. Sure, it's more lighthearted than most versions, but it makes sense with it being a Muppets production. I may not personally see it as a really memorable adaptation to me personally, as I prefer versions with much more weight, but I definitely see the appeal and can respect it for what it does well for those who enjoy it. The Netflix adaptation was kind of painful for me to sit through however.
I disliked the Jim Carrey version for a long time, and then the Netflix version came out - and it was SO sanitized, SO dumbed-down, and so Un-Scrooge-ish, that I started to think the Carrey version wasn't that bad.

I really like how the Ghost of Christmas yet to come was both cold and maternal.
I've watched only two (I think) Barbie movies as a kid. The one where Barbie finds some fairies on her wall/home and the one where she becomes a mermaid. And to be honest I don't know what to say. Jim Carrey’s is my favourite but personal favourite will always be Muppets 😎

Top 5 longest comments ever. Also I’ve never watched the Netflix version should I?
@@DestructiveAutoIt's definitely a good watch to get into the Christmas spirit. One of my yearly watches.

This video is shockingly useful. I'm doing my GCSE's and knowing which movie is most like the actual story is useful.
The Disney version is fucking terrifying
And that’s why I love it.
It's not Christmas until I see Sir Michael Caine yelling at a frog and a bunch of rats
Me and my sister watch the Barbie one every Christmas lol
0:50 The disney version is the one I watched in school, and I still love it. Even my little pony made their own Christmas carol episode.
The 2009 one STILL scares me lol
If you’re interested in making a video on the Barbie DvDs, I think Barbie: Mariposa has a lot of material for riffing off of

Actually their was an 2d adaptation that gave Scrooge a pet dog named debit .
And Scrooge was voiced by Tim curry in that one.
Michael Caine is the quintessential scrooge. I agree that a muppets Christmas carol is the best adaptation and possibly the best Christmas movie.
My favorite is honestly the Netflix one. I liked the songs, the fun, and rendition of Scrooge is one of my favorites
I saw the Motion-Cap Jim Carrey version in Cinemas back in 2009 as a School Field trip, and I was totally impressed!
My little pony G4 also made an episode where Starlight Glimmer was scrooge, Apple Jack was the ghost of Christmas past, Pinkie pie is the ghost of Christmas present, then Princess Luna is the ghost of christmas future (or in this case, “yet to come”)
And there are songs in it but I think they’re amazing.
I watched the 2009 one for my birthday when I was turning 10…and I still remember it scared me
The Muppets Christmas carol is my favorite version!
the scariest part about being early is not knowing what to say in the comments
We had to watch the 2009 disney one in school, it is so goofy man
Honesty the rob Zemeckis Christmas Carol has grown on me and is one of my favorite adaptations i like to watch. Along with the mickey’s Christmas carol. Barbie was definitely and interesting version
If you want more Scrooge action, make sure to check out Cellspex's two-part series on every animated version of A Christmas Carol.
Love the Netflix version. It and Klaus are my new favourite underrated yearly Christmas watches
I loved Christmas carol and then GCSE came alone and all i can think of are the quotes
As solitary as an oyster
I am also doing a Christmas carol for my GCSEs
And a quote for it is “they better do it and decrease the surplus population
I remember my 1st time seeing a version of the story was the "other" disney version, not the one in 3D, but the one with scrooge mcduck, mickey and the other characters
Now watch the Starkid version
I love the muppet one and the disney one with Scrooge mcduck. *but* I think the most faithful animated one was the jim carrey one.

Bro forgot about the Disney Mickey Mouse Christmas Carol
The Jim Carrey one will always be my favorite✨
I had grown out of the barbie movies by that point, but I did have the first 3 or 4 on repeat for a few years
Couldn't finish the Netflix version. Stop making the darkest Christmas tale kid friendly! Kids need dark cartoons
Netflix's Scrooged looks like quality street and has Stitch in it as the ghosts assistants for some reason
If anyone actually want the Barbie Cinematic Universe, I recommend Ted Nivison video where he try to find the true lore of barbie
Jim Carrey’s is definitely the best one… but I am biased as he is my favorite actor >:]
Scrooge and the muppets Christmas Carol are my favourite versions
Mr. Mago's Christmas carol is alright good
