Raptor can be tinted with any 2pac colour, so we're going with... Primer. Looked better in red, dents and all. 4b's should be fun, don't be afraid of colour!
I agree mate, best thing I ever did was repaint my gq patrol that’s a two tone red and gold the same colour over going raptor Was much cheaper and looks much nicer
@@dalesmith4985 hahah not wrong, I live out in the country so it’s very dirty all the time. Just repainted cause some stickers from previous owner ruined the paint so had all these faded company names all over
100% bud, I'd have dents and clear coat peal with any factory gloss colour over a straight raptor coat any day, looks shithouse to me but that's just personal preference
You guys and MCM are really crossing over. They are calling themselves the ‘best 4x4 channel’ and your buying the cheapest, sight unseen on the internet… love it.
Your guy there just bandaided that rust on the front fender it’s going to continue to spread under that body filler. He may have done a good job cleaning up the rust on the outside of the fender but the underside of the fender is still untreated and more then likely that’s where the rust has started from. The correct procedure is to cut out the affected area and weld in a patch panel. Not to mention that since you applied raptor liner once it’s applied it’s almost impossible to blend in a repair without experiencing weather fade so it’s very important to do the body work correctly the first go around. Replacement of the fender may have been the better idea in this case.
Exactly what I said. Nothing but a waste of time and money. No way "Robbie" is real body man, If he is please tell me the shop he works at so I can stay away
That guard needed to be removed so it could be repaired, the inside is going to keep rusting. Would have been really easy to cut out and repair properly.
You guys need to start making colour coded or just coloured Raptor Coating so dont have that grey primer looking finish 😎 Love these kind of vids just as much as the ones out on the tracks 😎 Nice to see the use of products that may not be aware of.
When I sit down and read a magazine I think I want the newest and best truck. Then I watch something like this and realise you can make any truck great. Especially if you do it yourself. Great job!
Simply bogging isn’t a long term strategy. Plus, body filler can crack in situations like exposed edges. It’s such a small repair that I would had cut it out like the floor. Use a high quality weld through primer and a seal coat. If you’re adding more than a small skim of filler, then you haven’t repaired it properly.
It's under the flare, so doesn't matter. Didn't see the rust being treated on the inside of the guard, either, so it's going to keep creeping. It'll take another 15 years before it's a problem, though.
@@einfelder8262 I wouldn’t been keen to bet on that repair lasting 15 years. I professionally restore Ford and Mopar muscle cars, have done for more than 30 years between other careers. Doing it once right is always better.
The biggest difference you can make to the comfort if a car in a hot place is dynamat on the floors and roof and window tint, noise is annoying but heat is brutal
I understand it’s not ideal to put a fresh raptor coat out in the sun but if you don’t have access to a shed or garage is it possible to do the entire process in the driveway and still have it turn out good?
I clean mining equipment for a living (Triple Megas & Quad Megas especially) I wash shocked at your cutting technique with the pressure washer hahahaha.
Good stuff guys! Maybe you can check with the raptor guys but I was told that raptor texture where the doors closes of the doors is not such a tight seal with the rubber seals. I was planning to do mine with the same colour with regular automotive paint for that matter for the times I'm playing submarine. If you could please clarify this would be grand. Regardless good on ya for going the extra mile and not leaving that red! The engine bay can be done when engine swapping for a 1HZ? 😂
Hey guys please I need someone to get back to me would it of been possible to use brunox as the primer over the whole truck I’m doing a project atm it’s not a car but I still need to know with my experience over time when Ive used plain rust converter on rust that is also surrounded by paint it eats the paint and stuffs everything if I was to use brunox converter and primer in one would it effect the paint AT ALL? If someone that knows can get back to me it would be very much appreciated 🤙👍
Better to never wash of bare metal with water. It starts to rust immediately and when painted it starts to bubble after a couple of months. First apply a coat of primer on the bare metal parts, sand that and then wash it all off.
Hi mate! RAPTOR is a coating made to last, so it is difficult to remove once cured. Once RAPTOR is cured, remove by sanding it off with P80 grit sandpaper either down to the original substrate or to bare metal. Then, respray the surface with another coating, like OEM paint colours. Hope that helps!
Thanks for the tips. When you sand back a spot of rust on a panel, what about getting to the inside of it? That can be really tricky to get to, is it just as important?
Wow we were just saying the other day how nice and quiet my gu is inside the cab compared to outside the car although mines a fair bit newer and Wagonso perhaps they improved factory sound deadening in later years. Had to laugh about putting that in then chucking on a set of very aggressive howling mud terrains

I thought the same thing . That area of the wheel arch is pretty prone to abuse
It’s ok! They raptor coated it so it’s junk anyway.

i wouldnty have bothered and just gotten a new guard tbh AHHAHAHA
Crazy theory, maybe they checked the fender and didn't see any other rust so they came to the conclusion that body filler would do a good enough job.
A great Father/Son project as proved by Graham and Jocko.

no matter what kind of project or budget you have , if you have good friends to give you a hand the result will always be magnificent.
Good job proving you can do these jobs in your own shed with all the free expertise labour. It really is as easy as that boys and girls

Looks great. Very surprised you didn't give the bullbar a coat of Raptor too. Would have really set it off in my opinion!
Or even just a fresh lick of paint
OK. Jocko is now my favourite.
Anyone that does an impression of "The Count" is OK by me. 🤣
Jocko is awesome, his enthusiasm as he is talking about whatever he is doing is epic.
Totally agree Darrin, Jocko explains things really well, Graham should slow down on the crystal meth & coffee!
Who was the body worker on the front right headlight?! He added that body line perfect. Great Work!

Nice to see that you are running on the Mickey Thompson tires! I run them for 9 years now, I just ordered the new set for my Patrol.

The $1000 makeover ended up being $4,132. If that isn't the most relatable part of low budget builds, I don't know what is
Vehicle - check. Rust - check. Tools - check. £20,000 for a shed...errmmm Damn.🤣
