Great job man. Ordered 2 weeks ago and installed today. You were right, there is very limited space behind the receiver. The only thing I did differently is used the [blue] factory antenna wire instead of the one provided with the unit. Is there a reason that you used the aftermarket antenna? Total install time was about two hours for me, most of that time spent wrestling the cables/connectors back into the dash to make way for the receiver. Works flawlessly, wife loves it! This is a no-brainer for those of us that have semi-new bimmers and want to modernize them with CarPlay.

But I hold the knob on and get Siri, also gave me back up angle lines, DVR, get the wireless one comes with extra cable( usb one gives you low quality music.. wireless one saved my audison speakers 🔊) it has EQ like 40 settings,, and I wonder if I can connect a fire stick.. even heard it has and hdmi.. wow some gta5 sounds nice 👍

When I have an incoming phone call I can’t answer neither using the buttons on the steering wheel nor using idrive knob. I can choose between the answer and decline buttons on the screen but when I push it nothing happens. Can only answer using my phone. Can’t find any settings for that. Don’t you have such issue? Another my concern is incoming calls appearing. When I’m driving using the navigator and got the call I only can see the call screen then and can’t return to the navigator until I ended that call. Do you know if there’s any way to fix it? I mean by splitting the screen between navy and phone, or getting calls on a background, etc. Thank you in advance for the answer.

Hi, I would suggest to double check the fiber optic connection in the head unit, that like to come close even though it might seem like it’s plugged in, if it not making connection those are some of the symptoms your experiencing.

Hello, why I can’t hear the caller once I am receiving a call? He can normally hear me. The same situation with the Apple Music. I can’t hear music, only the saved radio stations on idrive original console. What can I do?
What is the best location for the antenna? Your placement was very close to the metal head unit. Did you have any connection issues or interference in that location?
To play you tube on screen you have to jail brake Apple play to be able to enable the app on the screen, it has nothing to do with Mmi more with your phone letting the app play on car screen. Glad you like it thanks 🙏 for watching.
Did you install an aux wire to this? I've installed a similar mmi carplay kit in my f20 1 series but am upgrading to X5. With the f20 I needed to wire in the aux input as well as the mic to be tapped into with the wiring harness
Hi, mmi nbt box has wide variety of applications aside from x5 and different options of customization in different models, indeed you can use it for other accessories but I haven’t done so and don’t have direct experience therefore and can’t really comment how that would work.
I heard this as well when I was shopping around, but after I installation and real life use I don’t agree, it sound just as good imo, you just have to dail it in with equalizer settings.
Does it still keep your messages and past locations on Waze when phone is not connected? Meaning I’d someone else uses your x5 without you being there do they have access to all of your history or the phone must be connected via Bluetooth?
No I did not however in the event you do it’s easy in the f chassis cars, all you have to do is turn wheel all the way left then all the way right to recalibrate it.
If you have factory nbt system then it’s the same plug n play will work, nbt systems were installed in all F15 x5 variants until 7/16 production date after they moved to evo
I have x5d awesome car I don’t think I’m going to run it forever economical, powerful, practical all in the same package 👌 I don’t think there’s car like this in production anymore.

@@MotorsportInspired the issue is when I select AUX from Multimedia, it says nothing is connected. Right now, I’m using Bluetooth with the CarPlay box
I think that antenna is for the Wireless Carplay, not the GPS. The GPS signal for Carplay navigation comes from the phone.

Hi, X5 doesn’t need a separate aux wire it’s integrated into the Mmi it uses oe mic harness.

Your phone has to be connected otherwise if someone else uses your car it won’t work unfortunately.
