Probably because they are highway driver vehicles.
Doesn’t damage the engine and the gearbox nearly as much as city driving. And also less time is spent in the vehicle as it’s going faster, so it gets worn less in the interior!
Also people don’t want high mileage cars so they are much cheaper

I bought a sept 14 ,Volvo v60 d4 r-design at exactly 4 years old with 138000miles on it, for £7000, spent £400 getting new timing chain and service, and it’s now done 160000miles and probably deprecated less than £1000 a year.

Very interesting clip. I very recently regrettably sold my 57 reg TDCI 2.0 Ford Mondeo which had 213,000 miles on the clock and drove like a new car and I never for once had any issues with it, apart from the regular servicing, and I had changed the timing belt. I only sold my beloved Mondeo because it would not pass the ULEZ requirement due to start in October this year in many parts of London. I have travelled the length and breath of the UK with my Mondeo and never one day did l have to call the RAC to rescue me. What a lot of people don't realise is that as long as one upon buying a high mileage car, immediately gives the car a good service (oil filter, air filter & plugs in the case of petrol cars) most importantly changing the timing belt/chain, and subsequent regular servicing, the engine will go on forever. Surprisingly quite a number of people don't know a lot about cars and only judge a car's reliability on it's reg or mileage. I think you should also do a video on "Should l buy a newer or older reg car"?? A lot of people judge a cars reliability on the reg of the car. I travel a lot and I have seen countless of high reg cars ie 67,68,or 69 cars break down and are on the hard shoulder. This is because people who drive these cars think because the car is new, nothing will go wrong.

The service and maintenance records are the first things I look at when buying used cars. Mileage is deciding factor also but the last one the list of factors for me. A well looked after high mileage car can be as reliable a low mileage used car. But also, research the engine of the car you buying, some engines are just a mess long term. The BMW flat 6 diesels are generally bulletproof, same with the VW/Audi/Porsche v6 diesel, plenty reliable.

Awesome video as always Calvin.cracking x5, but unless you’re giving a 12 months gold warranty, sorry high mileage is a no no. Having said that I would buy and have brought a high van before. Love the channel, great content. Thanks for sharing pal.

I owned many high mileage cars and as long as you budget for the likes of wheel bearings suspension parts you can grab a bargain. Obviously you need to know when to cut your loses and move it on. Excellent video m8 keep up the good work👍

200,000 miles over 7 years is on average 27,571miles/year or 75 miles/day. That's basically a steady 2 hours driving each day since new.

You’re a lovely guy and I really enjoy your videos. Its just a shame that you have jumped on the bandwagon and try and rip customers off with 'admin fees'. Anyone with any sense avoids dealers that do this as it’s a blatant rip-off!

What about Van's? I have a Ford transit H3 L3 on a 67 plate. I got it with 4k on it and now With 566k on the clock. Only have the normal service and belts, pads and tyres changed. Still on the original clutch too

Those vw caravelle are used by alot of airports as shuttles. So most spend their lives up and down motorways, I've seen some with 500k miles and still drive perfect.

I have a 2010 40d E70 with 120k on the clock. The engine is fine but the electrics have started to play up. I've had to change the diversity antenna 3 times in the last 5 years.
Also In hot weather the rear camera is fuzzy and power rear door refuses to open fully.
Overall it's served me well, but just disappointed with the electrical problems.

I always buy high mileage BM's, however I don't usually go above 80k on the clock.
But I'm looking for a second hand F15 X5 M50D fully loaded - adaptive cruise/headlights, TV, reverse cam, all seats heated etc. Given my budget, I think I'll have to be looking at mileage in-excess 120K.
Thanks for the great video. 👍🏾

    I have an F15 40d.
Would be interesting to know if front/ rear diff oils, transfer box and gearbox oils were ever renewed or were they replaced due to never being serviced.
These have "Fill for life" oils which is obviously wrong.

High milers ain’t all that scary if you do ya research for common faults an find a motor that’s been looked after.. I’ve brought loads in the past and had few issues.. let’s not forget that half of the low mileage popular models have had the clock knocked back lolol

The F15 is solid. Couple easy preemptive things, and she's good to go. Just service it regularly. It's not rocket science.

I sold my 2004 Mercedes C220 CDI 5 years ago with 215k on the clock. After your video Calvin, I used MOT Checker to see if it's still running, and it is! But the last MOT shows 145k on the clock. How does that work, I wonder?

  • @MrMarkhall1
