BMW Android Screen VS BMW Apple CarPlay MMI Box Comparison, Wireless Apple CarPlay Android Auto.

- Comparison for BMW Mercedes Audi Android GPS screen and Apple CarPlay / Android Auto MMI interface, introduce the "Differences" and "Common" features between them.

Common features:
Both of them support iDrive knob, support OEM features, support wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto. They are plug and play, no need to code the car.
Difference:
1) MMI Box - not support touch screen (using OEM screen); Android screen with touch screen.
2) MMI Box with basic features; android screen with much more features, like WIFI, 4G LTE, Apps can download and install, etc.
3) MMI Box need to find a space/room for installation, or install to the glove box; Android screen replace the OEM display.
4) MMI box cost less time when install it, Android screen need to install the GPS / 4G LTE antenna, in normal situation, it cost more time;
5) The price of MMI Box is about half price (50%, to see different models) compare to Android screen.
PS: Some BMW EVO model can code the car to activate the OEM Carplay, But some models not support it, for example, when your car is NBT , Like F30 3 series 2013, this kind of car type (NBT ID4), it not support to code the car to add the Carplay, if you choose OEM products (Have bigger touch screen +, Apple Carplay), it need to replace the OEM radio Head unit + OEM screen, also need to code the car, it cost nearly 800 USD, that is expensive, and most of end users are not good at to code the car, so, to choose a cheaper MMI BOX or Android screen, it is much better, and it don't need to code the car.

I have the new evo MMI box (with HDMI) for my 2019 X1, but the touch screen doesn't work. I can only use the wheel controller.

I have x1 model 2020 that has no aux. Another guy is telling that aux can be enabled through software using the diagnostic system without having the phisical interface. After that he connects to the aux 'pin'. Is it possible? Do you know it?

It need a good working original car stereo, both MMi box or Android screen, they are no amplifier, so , it rely on a good working OEM car stereo system
I installed an andoird screen. But the idrive switches and controller only work on idrive. They do not move in carplay mode. How to fix?
It need to check more details, like car model , Android screen you installed etc, and check the CAN protocol settings. If the model from us or not .

Hi, does the factory lvds that connects to the factory screen go to the cd player? This is on a 2013 mercedes w221 s550. I damaged mines when i took the plug out.
The original LVDS one side connect to the display, the other side connect to original radio head unit . If you damaged it , maybe you can buy a new one
@HifimaxOfficial man, I was stressing over this for a few days. I called mercedes and he was looking everywhere on his computer but couldn't find what I wanted. I called auto dismantlers and thought I would have to take my dash out and everything. Thought that plug connects to something else but long story short. Part was only $12 and it's super simple to connect. Thank you so much for replying and also confirming on the connection points.
I have 2018 BMW G30, and would like to ask about the Android screen
1) Does the sound required to go through AUX?
2) Does it support oem 360 cameras automatically?
1) for the EVO car, the sound transfer by USB ( this kind of car without AUX: 2) the original 360 can work automatically, but you need go to make a setting in android menu , choose “ OEM camera “

Does the aux cable need to be connected in the center console?
That is to see the car type you have , CCC, CIC normally connect it , NBT in most case , no need ; EVO , the sound work by USB .
Display worthy only if you have the small screen from factory !

Not work, it need to use android screen microphone.
What if the OEM Display of the car has touch controls? Does the MMI Box support touch controlls then or is it non-touch in general?
MMI box is no touch screen control. Even the original car have touch screen, but when access to CarPlay menu , it just only use idrive to operate it
