    Side on Sport, the feel vs real of that right arm/R Hand release is definitely different than what my initial idea of how the right arm/ wrist move through impact. Great video man, love your channel! And love Tommy! A concept that really helped me with this was imagining that Tush Wall in my follow through, taking 1/2, 3/4 swings, and basically I want the heel of the club to run along that wall in my follow through. If you’re a flipper, like I was, the toe of your club would smash through that wall, or minimum, the club face would flush it

      Interestingly enough, this approach even helps a pronated swing work. If I really try to unnecessarily lean onto the shot, like most amateurs like myself we counter balance and fight the awkward feeling forward force. The ball stayed straight. Simply awesome, your comment on feeling the swing around your shoulders really helps.
      Take care.

    What are the common root causes of losing your trail arm angle and stalling at impact? Assuming you need to address that first?

    • @jchowngolf
      @jchowngolf  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Normally conceptual as a lot of golfers try to extend the trail arm through impact. Other than that, usually a lack of rotation can cause the trail arm to straighten, which this feels/drill will address and fix 👍🏼

    • @teddythodo3302
      @teddythodo3302 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The trail arm extends for one simple reason. Because you’re coming out of the shot losing your spine angle. Because you so desperately want to be in balance. Root cause of that is posture and weight distribution at setup.
      If you didn’t extend the arm, you would air whiff and miss the ball.
      Now that I think about it, early extension ie hips thrusting into the ball is probably all due to posture, weight distribution in the feet and perhaps a lack of a shallowing move overall.
      Early extension happens because we sense the club is steep, and thrusting the hips towards the ball gets the shaft to shallow Out a bit.
      It’s all reactions to improper setup and certain moves

      @@jchowngolfFor me it's because the urge to hit the ball or trying to release towards the ball so all angles released before impact.

      You’re both absolutely correct. In reality to most faults in the golf swing, there are many root causes that can lead to a fault. Some can be very common and others can be very niche 👍🏼

    Wish it was this easy. So many have the extension so ingrained . They will need years of hands on training too break it

      @jchowngolf  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It can be easier than you might think. Find the root cause to why you do the movement, then improving the area can be fixed rather quickly 👍🏼

    I Jc when I tried it I shanked it .why .can you tell me dave 👍

    • @jchowngolf
      @jchowngolf  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That would most likely be a separate issue as the move is also a shank fix. Make sure your trail heel isn’t lifting early in the downswing, and also make sure your path in a decent spot 👍🏼

      Dave, I used to have a similar issue because I would force my hands toward the target. I fixed this by making sure my hand path exits to the left. It has the added benefit of lots of shaft lean and a heavy strike.

    Ye but in vid ur saying right arm/ hand comn through like skimn a stone. 🤷‍♂️

    • @jchowngolf
      @jchowngolf  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Skipping a stone/throwing a ball is a achieved through a natural athletic rotation, the right arm being bent at impact replicates the same natural athletic move in a golf swing. The right arm can straighten at around shaft parallel to the ground post impact in the follow through. Keeping the right arm bent all the way to the finish is a drill. If the right arm stays bent through impact the body will naturally rotate which is the goal of the video 👍🏼

    Why don’t these instructors get down and show what the move is, instead of getting into the philosophy of what not to do and why not to do. It gets boring after 2 minutes.
