Part of the reason that "cone" (which is actually meant to be a dish shape) is so hard to make that way is that the original one is spun on a lathe.
It's a really tricky thing to learn at a normal scale (Ive never got it right) and I have no idea where you'd find the kit to do it at that scale lol

You need a dome shape for that larger portion of the lamp shade- I'd suggest looking at how cosplayers make similar shapes with foam sheet and copying that, rather than making a cone shape. Will be much more true to the original lamp shade and probably much easier too...

I don’t know if Alec is just incompetent or if Colin Furze is just an absolute fabrication monster, but I feel like Colin would’ve knocked this project out in a weekend… lol
He’s made perfect sheet metal balls, cones, spirals, drill tank treads, and so much more and makes it look pretty easy!
Maybe it’s planning.. or tools? Idk… I think Colin just makes it look so easy that I assume it actually isn’t that hard and it probably is. So I’m going to say that this just makes me respect Colin even more.

I think I found the part where you guys went wrong.
The lineup consisted simply of six hydrocoptic marzelvanes, so fitted to the ambifacient lunar waneshaft that sidefumbling was effectively prevented. The main winding was of the normal lotus o-deltoid type placed in panendermic semiboloid slots of the stator, every seventh conductor being connected by a non-reversible tremie pipe to the differential girdlespring on the ‘up’ end of the grammeters. Moreover, whenever fluorescence score motion is required, it may also be employed in conjunction with a drawn reciprocation dingle arm to reduce sinusoidal depleneration.
    Give that a try.

Don't use that method to remove rust from metal, because it warps that kind of a thin sheet. Use the eyepoker3000, brass preferably, with a light touch. You're only making more work for yourself whenever you warp things you want to weld, especially thin things.

When I make big circles with sheet metal or steel, I usually add reinforcement bars to keep the circle true. Once I got everything buttoned up, I remove the reinforcement bars from the material. I weld the bar, diameter of the wanted circle inside of the sheet matal. Then add another crossing the first just behind the first. This reduces the chances of the weld busting and the sheet warp. Great idea in using the ring for help the seem to more ridged.

I have a tiny ring bender that I use to radius fretwire for guitar repair. It didn’t even occur to me that they come in that large, or that it could move material that big.

Why, you had such great projects in the past now..... not so much. I miss the real Steele. Million layer , complex damascus patterns, hammer making.... how about a 10 part series making something like a war hammer. Miss you
