    In this woodturning videos, I will turn a mallee burl wood into a stunning hybrid wooden vase. Used 30mins epoxy resin to colour the wood then used metallic pigment powder to create this cool looking effect. The sanding process took over 2hrs to achieve the desired result. Sanded from 80 to 3000grit then polished to high shine before I applied some Rubio Monocoat finish to pop the grain but also to provide protection long term.

      Thank you so much 😀 Have so much big plans for 2023 so the extra time would really benefit the quality of the contents. I would continue to work on some smaller projects too so might be able to get more content (as opposed to 1 every two weeks) but not stressing about the weekly deadlines would be great too 😀

    That was absolutely beautiful, David! You've got to love a bit of subtle sparkle! ✨️ I know this doesn't really answer your question, but maybe go with the flow, depending on what you plan on working on. Each project takes its own time, not a fixed schedule. Maybe, if you're working on smaller projects, stick to what you've been doing. You can always announce at the end of your video that your next project is going to take longer, and therefore will be released at the end of the month/or in two weeks' time, for example. Either way, don't put pressure on yourself to the point you start to feel like doing what you love becomes a chore 😊

    Fantastic piece. I truly admire your patience with all that sanding for that glass look. I woudl suggest a healthy Mix of both intervalls. I know from other wood turners that karger projects take much more time with resin. Why not intersperse a small project while waiting for the larger one to cure/get ready for the next step in the process? I know one Thing for Sure: I cannot plan down to such details any longer...

    • @DavidsWoodturning

  • @terrytenley9327
    @terrytenley9327 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice project.. a lot of work.. A easier way is to sand to 120 grit and coat with resin.. sometimes takes two coats and because the resin is heavy it runs.. So try this.. set your lathe to 5-10 rpm.. and apply resin coat. Let the lathe run till resin is solid.. I call this the rotisserie finish. bright, shinny and long lasting.. ☺️

    • @DavidsWoodturning
      @DavidsWoodturning  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I also do resin finish but sometimes it is just easier to sand to high grit and polish. Resin finish can be a pain depending on the project and wood
