  • Woodturning some elm burls into a hybrid wedding goblet with two captive rings. It was a freshly cut burl/burr but spent 30hrs in the oven to dry then some cleaning to do before it can be casted in epoxy resin to make the hybrid blank. Mixed with blue resin mica powder to compliment the wood. 2 captive rings were added during wood turning and sprayed with lacquer to extra shine.

    Watching these videos reminds me of the five years of pottery classes I took as a teenager. Despite the difference in medium, many of the shaping and refining techniques are very similar. Thank you for the nostalgia.

    i can’t imagine how tedious the sanding and finishing process becomes with a project like this. regardless, your craftsmanship never fails to amaze.

    As you were scraping, I was thinking, I’d use a wire brush, and voila, a a wire brush appeared.

    • @DavidsWoodturning
      @DavidsWoodturning  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, normally I remove the bigger pieces with a picker then the brush. But know I tried with a sand blaster and the whole process takes 1-2 minutes and leaves and much cleaner finish. So will utilise that more often.
