This is awesome. Even though I've read through this with my sponsor. It's like being in a meeting, especially during this pandemic. Im 128 days sober. I thank God everyday for this program.
That’s great to hear Mr Goodson. Monday I went to my first meeting. Although nobody wore a PPE I took a leap of faith and understood that I am powerless. Although I am interested in the program, I have retreated to consider the online option if applicable. These postings help greatly. Congratulations again and hopefully you will keep us posted on your progress as it too serves a light to guide the paths to recovery for people like myself!
Everyone, real alcoholic or not, can benefit from these men. There is a great book that all people should read: Writing the Big Book. It is huge and long but you breeze through it. In my 41+ years of continuous sobriety I have done a line by line, word by word study of the The Doctor’s Opinion and the first 164 pages several times. Also do a search on “Why Bill W. wrote two versions of the 12 Steps” by Susan Cheevers. Thanks for posting these talks!!
Somewhere down the line they stopped working the steps and they started measuring quantity of sobriety vs quality of sobriety = not the original recipe. Some even 18 years never worked the steps... Stay away from sober but spiritually dead alcoholics full of big shot-ism. Older membership was based on quality of sobriety. 50:47
I've been away from meetings, the program for a few years and this is sooooooooo important, I'm twenty-years sober and need this now more than ever!
