    Just followed your instructions, and it worked out great! I used the brown ground wire of the little trunk convenience light as the ground. I also cut the long cable to make it easier to run through the rubber cable jacket where all the trunk cables pass through. Install is clean and it works perfectly with my XTRONS head unit (on the XTRONS, the red wire marked "Camera B+" on the head unit is what you want to use instead of "reverse" like in the video).

    I just got the Eonon head unit a few weeks ago for my 540i. Pretty happy with it. Still gotta do the back up camera

    This is gonna come in real handy for my install. I'm adding a camera but installing it into the OEM nav system on my e39 M5. Thanks for the video!

    You know there's no reason to cut the wires, right? You can just pull the entire wire off the new handle and put the new one on, it has a metal clip on the original and the new one with camera has some kind of black glue
    I literally just peeled the black glue off mine and used a similar adhesive plus the clip and put it all back in. I'm only here to figure out how to actually run the black and red wires to the reverse light lol but not hating on you, just a heads up for next time or anyone reading this - don't cut the wires lol

    So has anyone found a trunk latch camera that perfectly fits into the e39 with out splicing the wire? Please let me know as soon as possible. I need to get this done

    Wonder if it'll fit snug and oem in my waggin. Also, purely out of curiosity, why didn't you run the wire up along the headliner? Seems like it would be easier, idk? Looks clean tho thanks for putting this together.

    Hello, thank you for posting this video, it is very detailed and clear. I have an 03 530 that I am planning to install backup camera for. A couple of questions if you have the time; since you posted this video is the backup camera still working the same, meaning fine and no problem? Why did you connect the ground to directly to the battery, rather than to the brown wire for the rear lights (just curious if you tried the brown wire and did not work and you had to go directly to the battery?

      Yes. The camera is working fine since the installing. No problems. I connected it the battery because it was just easier. I didnt try the brown wire.

      @@A1Brian I don’t think my pioneer head unit has a cam in option though. It looks like it’s a few years old.

      If it has video in option. It might still work

    did you have to connect the black wire (negative) to the reverse backup light? how would the head unit know when you shift into reverse to activate the camera?

      @A1Brian  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Na i dont think so. I mainly use it for music and rear view camera

    • @OhioBallKnower

      Some headunits come with a Wi-Fi antenna that you can tuck with double sided tape to the air ducts up behind the stereo, the Eonon android11 r49 unit I have, comes with a Wi-Fi antenna and nav antenna if you don’t use apple CarPlay. I’m sure you can order a Wi-Fi antenna by itself for your unit
