I have a 2004 325ci convertible. Getting the wire routed to the front was not easy as the seat doesn't fold down. I found there is a straight run on the driver's side where the wires went to the CD changer. I could easily get the video cable fished through the rubber grommet from the inside to the back and then pull the video cable through into the car and run it along the door panel up into the dash. There is only a small gap from the radio chamber, but again, it is okay to fish the wire through it. Go from the trunk lid across the back of the convertible storage tray then down to the CD changer location. The channel is just inside of the wheel well bump. I hope to make a video when everything is complete.
You can do it on the unit, but being old unit, i had to connect to the reverse light as trigger. I recently upgraded it to new EONON E46A13 unit and it has better connections for backup camera, it’s plug and play. Also comes with additional connectors to run x amount of cameras. Check out video on my TH-cam page, i will be having another video soon on new back up camera with dash cam.
@AmelsGarage awesome I just bought that same head unit and the back up camera works, just needed to hold down on the Eonon touch screen while in reverse to adjust the settings!
Pick up the trim in your hand as it goes behind the screen. Now flip it 180 degrees bottom side up and place it behind the screen and flip it back down.

Good job professional man
I just break the small pins when I try to take the rear Handel part apart saw your pins are perfect nice job
So if the car is "pre-wired" why do you need to run wires? Is it because it is not original?
What did you do with the red cable hanging from your yellow input in the rear?
Did you have to connect to a reverse trigger wire on the radio harness?

How did you get the center trim installed behind that screen?
