Yeah the automatics are alright, but the valve body and shift solenoids in it do wear out and cause hard shifts. Not horribly hard to fix as the valve body sits on top of the trans, so its easy to get to.
And pay NEXT TO NOTHING for it. My Saturn cost $9300 for 26 years of ownership. Dumb punk kids tie up FORTY GRAND (with financing) in these Hondas. I took the money I saved and made tons in the stock market with it. 😊😊😊
I got the 2002 sl with the single cam an Manual trans I got about 230,000 miles on it and climbing original motor and trans I had done the clutch job at 200,000 car is super reliable
I own 2 of these blue ones. Fully loaded they are pretty nice. This one seems to be in rough shape. You make me want to make videos on mine. The trunk release will be found by the gas release left of the driver.
It's a shame your experience was with one that has been obviously beat. These are great cars if treated well, and I know of plenty lasting over 300k miles! My '96 SC2 has 187k right now and is still going strong. The S-Series autos had a valve body that would wear out but could be fixed with an upgraded replacement. once fixed these cars will last thousands with no problem, those Inline-4s were bulletproof!
Does the job! Not everyone treats the road like a race track. The only reason I drive "actively" in my videos is to show the cars potential and give viewers fun entertainment. I don't even drive like that myself in my regular driving.
The idiocy took off at 3 minutes. Dude, you understand this was an ECONOMY car right? As far as the trunk release goes, TRY LOOKING where most trunk releases are found. Down by the gas door release lever. On the floor in front of the driver’s seat. DUH!! In your defense, perhaps you owned an 80’s Fox body where Ford put the release switches in the glove compartment. LOL
What a p.o.s car😂 the transmission is already going out and it’s jerking and hesitating and it looks hideous on the outside and it’s rusting and it has poor man’s hubcaps on too. That car isn’t worth paying $1,850 it’s worth nothing😂
@@DMCarReviewsthat car is worth absolutely nothing. It’s a P.O.S. Rolling down the road😂. My pilot has 265,000 miles on the original transmission and engine and both are still holding up. I’d still choose my fully loaded 07 Honda Pilot EX-L 4WD over that piece of crap Saturn. No Saturn will ever make it to 265,000 miles on the original engine and transmission like my Honda has. I hope yall don’t sell that car to anyone cause that shit belongs to a goodwill or church donation car😂
These cars are insanely reliable with the manual transmission. This one seems to have a hard shift in what looks like 3rd gear.

The best 1980’s tech that you could buy new in 2002

I kinda wish I had a car like this. All I need it to do is just work and cheaply.
I've got an SL1 and absolutely wish for an SL2 or at least a motor swap, they seem like really fun motors!
I wanna motor swap too for the dohc

,Nice!
these vids of beaters are so fire
Thank you! I love filming them😎
Old school. Back to the old days when people used to drive those cars

Thank you! You should.
if you ever let me know
Is it comfortable for driving for more than half an hour?
@@urnotaman4444 yes it is, i have a 1998 sl2 and it is comfortable, not perfect but it wont wear you out

They are cool cars!
Very unique car for the US
Yes!
You should drive the Saturn L series with the V6 its a decent car
If I can find one! They are rare

This car is a prime example of why you dont buy American 😅. If it was an equivalent Toyota it would be shifting fine.
Some Toyota's can also be in such conditions...
This was one of the best selling cars for its times. Its a very solid , easy to work on, no nonsense commuter car.

@@navi_exlyou're comparing a 2007 $28k car to a 2002 $13k car. You could literally just buy another Saturn and save money.
