They are not fast. They're 7000+ LBS and a 6.0 isn't the most powerful diesel out there. A lot of these low RPM issues are either caused by a bad VGT or High Pressure Oil Pump going bad.
This video made my day, excursion is one of my dream vehicles and I absolutely love it plus when you add the sound of that diesel it's totally something else.
Definitely has some sort of boost leak, I remember my uncle replacing intercooler boots and also replacing the plastic air intake and lastly checked the compressor wheel on the turbo to see if there was any play. I didn’t check if 0-60 times improved but definitely felt faster than my geo metro after the fix 😂
I so badly wanna get an excursion, I think these cars are an absolute beauty truly, it has so much character in them really!! I’m trying to buy one with either the 6.8 v10 or the 7.3 v8. These suvs were honestly so underrated and sad to see them no longer being made anymore since ‘05 but I mean, it’s better to die a hero than live long enough to become a newer crappier version with a new 6.7 which in my case it has the worst reputation there is to me
@@DMCarReviews oh well, cool truck nonetheless. The 6.0 powerstroke was not known to be very reliable, maybe there’s something going on with it. Who knows, but that’s extremely slow for an excursion.
Looks to me like the turbo is probably bad or not functioning properly, kind of common on 6.0's amongst other things that can cause power loss but that's my guess as its acting like its NA, no pull, no gust, doesn't wanna rev, and no turbo sounds which are normally very clearly audible on even a stock 6.0.
Completely an educated guess, but given the motor sounds healthy as can be I'd bet its either an air filter that has imploded at this point, or the DPF is clogged and creating a bunch of backpressure in the exhaust. If it were something like clogged up injectors for example you'd hear a difference when you get on it.
Yeah, these things are pretty damn quick. I’ve mean like spin the rear tires quick ! I have been on a long road trip pulling a race car trailer in one and we set the cruise control on 80 miles an hour and it was barely taking any effort to pull the load. The 6.0 have to be bulletproof though. They were extremely troublesome in stock form. I figured most of the ones left out on the road today. Have already had the bulletproof job done to them.
@@DMCarReviews I just looked up the dealer who has it, that's actually not a bad price for a 2004 Excursion w/ PowerStroke. Any "issues" causing it to be slow can be fixed. that thing will sell fast.
I dont think you buy an Excursion for power and handling buddy. You buy it for its capabilities, utility, hauling, and towing. Thats why 0-60 is slow. This is a very big SUV. Its not a Corvette 😂😂
You can still drive a 30 second car just fine, as you saw, but you got to plan ahead. That is why when someone says 8 seconds is not fast enough, it really makes me wonder what they are trying to use it for, because 8 seconds is a breeze to drive.
That can’t be it because it’s a 2004, unless I’m missing something I think the only limp mode is if a post 2010 diesel runs out of def fluid. Would be cool to see a 0-60 with one with a good motor
@rqlk my truck is an 04 and has a "limp mode" typically for clogged oil cooler or underboost/overboost conditions. Unless the turbo is out on this truck I can't think of any reason it would take 30 seconds to 60
The stock 6.0s are much faster than the most powerful stock 7.3s. I've had both a 2000 f350 7.3 and a 2003 F350 6.0. The 6.0 is a powerhouse. With only a tiny bit of tuning it lights up the tires thru most of 1st and then lights up again in 2nd.
sheesh i knew these things werent fast but something definitely was wrong with it. they should be doing around the 10 ish seconds 0-60.
@@kellyoubrejr544 You're right!

9.5 seconds is stock.
With a bit of performance tweaking it will do it in 8 seconds.
That engine needs a new hpop or could have a boost leak.

I love my excursion, lots of hate on the 6.0 has the best diesel sound ever

That's good!
Finally a perfect test drive of an Excursion, thanks bro 💪
Thank you for watching!
Idk I gave a gle amg a good run for his money.
Over 500 torque. It ain’t no slouch.
Love having one too.
I knew these things were slow, but the sound makes up for it.

They are great trucks!
What's wrong with it? Most outlets report 0-60 in 11 seconds or less with the 6.0 diesel
No idea!

@@jakes5530 It should be about 18 seconds faster than what this one ran

Any 6.2 Sierra or silverados around you for you to test?
I'd have to look!

Very nice! This one seemed to have issues.
Wow, that 0-60 was painful. School buses are passing this thing in disgust. LOL
It was about as fast as a schoolbus. Still driveable :)
Doubt anyone cares

are you ok?
Next do a 2014 ford f350 6.7
30 seconds? I can run faster than that. But still, the Excursion is pretty cool.
Yep, about 30 seconds...
It's absolutely have a problem in power in and acceleration
