I had the same experience as someone else here. As soon as I received my first resistance bands I see you on TH-cam! Makes a lot of sense not to be trying to act like I'm 30 and hurt myself!
Will, are you psychic? I just retrieved my set of strength bands languishing in a cupboard. I bought them about 6 years ago and wasn't really sure what to do with them. This is great! Please do more when you can...a strength band series would be a big hit with me and I'm sure many others!
Sames!
Just bought a set on a whim today!.. and then this video popped up. Good timing.
Great minds think alike! I'll definitely take this on board when planning my next videos, have a great day
There are many videos regarding bands, I am 70 and never get bored with these. The ones on this video are excellent ,will stick to this channel for a while.
Thanks, just what I was looking for!
Just found your video and may I say it is absolutely brilliant! Every aspect of it was awesome…your voice, how thoroughly you explained each exercise…I’m a 70 years young woman and your video was so encouraging so I’m starting tomorrow and planning to do them 3 times/week. I am a breast cancer survivor and unfortunately have had serious health issues since treatment. I really needed this video today, thank you!
God Bless You 🙏🙏
God Bless You🙏🙏
I am 73 and have a weak right leg because of stroke which I suffered in 2020.
I just discovered your website a few days ago. I have been a big fan of Will Harlow since day one!
I also share your invaluable videos with my friends.
You have given invaluable tips and guidance for improving the health of the elderly .
Will, you are godsend and a real life angel to us all (those above 50)
Just the exercises I've been looking for goes too quickly, thankyou for them.
I very much enjoy and benefit from your videos. Please do more resistance band demonstrations - compound movements and core exercises. Thanks!
I'm glad you enjoy the videos and I'll definitely take this feedback on board when planning my next videos
These look really useful. I'm just shy of 70 and had lumbar fusion surgery about 14 months ago. After PT I started doing one-on-one pilates sessions 1-2 times per week. It's been transformative. Have very little back pain and I can tell the pilates sessions are creating a system that supports rather than relies on my back. These all look like they would be great complimentary exercises. Thanks.
Glad I found this, been trying to come up with some consistent exercises for my new bands. Thanks
Thank you, I've got my 87 year old mum following your every word. Its really good even for younger folks.
At 65 I've given up on building visible muscle and focus on strength! I think I will be more at ease doing these 5 exercises regularly and am sonfident it will be useful. Starting with just 3 sets of between 3 and 5 reps and hope to get to 10 by the end of this month,
Thankyou Will. I appreciate all of your videos. They’re very informative. 😊👍
Thank you very much for the tips. Priceless! May your channel grow!
What a great routine, not too many exercises, perfect 😊
Thanks for this Will. Like some others I'm going now to dust off my resistance bands which I bought last year and never used. I'm also reading your book which is a great help. Happy New year.
I like the convictions of this resistance band . Thank You
Excited to incorporate these exercises into my water aerobics class w/ my resistance bands this morning! Thank you 🙂
These are overall great exercises. Do them slowly and with good form and you will really feel it. I like using the 50lb. band and do 3 sets of 15 for each exercise. I feel great.
Brilliant videos and exercises for people over fifty, this is where I come for information as everything is brilliantly explained and this guy knows his stuff. One thing that people get wrong is not keeping shoulders back when doing these exercises, it’s really important. I am 64 and this site has helped me improve my mobility and strength. I even showed my mum and dad who are 84 & 88 and they are doing some of the easy exercises to improve mobility in their knees, ankles and shoulders. Keep up the good work.
Thank you so much for your kind words and thank you for sharing my work, I'm pleased that they have also found it useful! I'm so pleased to hear my videos have been able to help you with your mobility and strength, that is great to hear!
Thank you so much
Thanks, Will!
I completed the routine and really enjoyed. I still get up off the floor every day and stretch my thoracic spine on the foam roller after viewing your video several months ago. Invaluable PT advice! Thank you
I bought your book and I appreciate how organized it is. Great quick reference guide!
I'm thrilled to hear my advice has helped! Thank you so much for your support and I'm glad you've benefitted from the book - have a great day!
Will. Many thanks for your exercises. Am 84 and find your videos so helpful. I got your book from Amazon and it also is excellent.
Thanks for a great video. 50 and over club needs this simple yet effective.
excellent presentation, thank you...Peace
Fantastic tips, I'm saving your video for my workout with my bands! Thank you so much!
Thank you. Inspiration to get my bands out again. Maybe I can get some strength back in my spastic muscles.
Thanks for this very useful video.
I am 57, loosing the muscles strength. I was searching for such video for muscle strengthening.
Please keep posted more such videos for exercises with resistance band for 50+.
Very helpful. Thank you.
I'm 80 started using bands about 6 years ago. Mainly because I can use them anywhere anytime got about 3 full sets of them and just ordered a new set
Funny
2 days ago I went to use the biggest strongest band . I wrap it around any post and pull on it whilst doing squats.
It SNAPPED.
I went right on my ass lucky I was in a park and didn't have anything behind me.
I'm now doing 3 sets of 40 squats using this method I find it the quickest way to fatigue me,get my heart rate up and overall body exercises and a sweat on !
I can also do isometric exercises with them.
The moral of the story ,check your bands.
Mine looked and felt ok. But it obviously wasn't
When I'm out for a walk. Or anyplace. My bands are with me🙂
Brilliant 👍👍👍
Great help in maintaining my independence Thanks
This is so helpful. Thank you!💛
You're welcome!
Excellent
At 1:40 to make the bands shorter instead of standing on them, you can wrap the band around each shoe. Also a tip to keep your back straight is, at the top of the lift, push your bottom out backwards before lowering yourself down. This is a brilliant set of exercises and I use them as the basis of my strength workout.
Thanks so much for the exercise demonstration. It really helps us to follow. Great video and detail explanation as all your other videos. Thanks again.
I'm so glad the format works for you I really appreciate the feedback
Top videos, easy to follow.
Thank you!
Hi Will, thanks for you book an your videos. I'm a 74 year old guy who lives in New York City. Covid threw me for a loop . That and a couple of years have left me with a lot less muscle mass
I'm just starting your resistance band Exs. and wonder if its really too late. BUT...If it just stops or slows any further loss I'll be Happy.. Keep up the good work Will. Thanks again.
Mal Howe
You're very welcome!
Great video thanks !
Hi Thanks so much for the videos, they are so helpful.
Do you have any thoughts on the pilates reformer for strength training?
Thanks Very Much

Great video.
Just got your book, and enjoying it.
Also…can’t wait for my next visit to Britain. Love it over there.
Were it not for my grandchildren and a new relationship, i would have retired there.
Best wishes 👍🇨🇦
Thank you so much! Have a good 2024 year. Kind Regard
Thank-you I just had back surgery in August and I have trouble standing. I think your back stretch exercise looks like what I need. I am going to go through your other videos and look for Foot drop exercise. My left foot will not raise off the floor.
Thanks so much for sharing, I'll use my band more often ❤😊
You're very welcome
Thanks for showing us what to do with exercise bands.

You're very welcome
Hi Will - any advice on which resistance band? ie light or medium etc.
Many thanks
Thank you for the videos. Could you recommend some bands like the ones you are using.
I’m almost 51 and I have been doing your other ‘supersets’ full body band workout routine for almost a week now and I’m seeing gains already! I’m taking whey and creatine supplements with my pre workout shakes to get extra protein. I have added doing farmer carries at my office and apartment gyms daily to build some overall size but the bands start to kick my butt on the last set and I have to press through but it’s so worth it when I look in the mirror! I’m taking a trip back home in a few weeks and I want eyes to pop when my friends see me and your workout has given me a good foundation to getting my younger physique back! Thanks doc!
That is fantastic to hear I'm so pleased you've noticed changes already - keep up the great work you're doing!
Great exercises especially as a few I haven’t seen before. Do you do a vid using kettlebells?
Hi really enjoy your videos thank you but could you please show some exercise using a resistance band for tight glutes & hips
Thank you for your comment - I will take this on board when planning my future videos
Yes for me too please.
Intereting and helpful, thanks!
You're welcome
Thanks a lot. I need a bit of help though. After doing all of these my arms feel more sore because of all the pulling and the next day I had some pain in my elbow joints. Should I go lower even if my muscle can handle it? Thanks again.
Hi Will. On the 2nd exercise- the band press I’m on the lightest band and cannot push my arms all the way out. Is it because of a weak core and do I just go out as far as I can and will eventually be able to push out all the way? Thanks!
Thank you. In the second last exercise, could you please show how you position the band below your feet?
Great videos bud, just one question regarding the chest press, is it right to lock out your arms?
1:15 Banded deadlift Dead lift without weights
4 10 Band press Core and shoulders (and deltoids) 10 to 20 reps - 3 sets
6 58 Front and lateral raise Shoulders - do not need much resistance - 10 to 15 reps
8 25 Banded bent over row Upper back - pulling exercise
9 55 Curl and overhead press Biceps, triceps and shoulders Lower resistance needed
Thank for these exercises
You're very welcome
thk u
Thank you for showing how it is possible to use the band in a way that provides muscular training without the weights!
Thank you for your comment, you're more than welcome!
Dear Will
A friend in his 80s has been given, for his quads 1) stand-up exercises from a chair with arms out and 2) step-up and downs on one leg at a time.
Do you have a video on these and/or additional exercises?
With thanks for your excellent help. Ken
Good day again Will
Have you managed to read the message about my friend? Is there already something about this ?
Look up Bob & Brad which covers what you are looking for
Great videos for strength , mobility and reduce chance of injury. I was wondering if you could do biceps and tricep strength for over 50 . Thank you !
Bery good exercises. Thank you.
You're welcome
2 questions.
1. Do you recommend a certain brand of resistance band?
2. Do you have a DVD set of your exercises?
Thanks much. Just this morning i took out this band that my son had purchased for me and hardly used. I am now looking at this new vid and saw u using the same thing. Love the different exercises u show. I am 63 and trying to do some each day. Following u from Trinidad west indies.
Great to hear my videos are helping people from all over the world! Have a great day
At 77 I am back to resistance bands and this was a great intro (again) for me. Thanks!
So pleased to hear it helped you get back into it!
Like all the exercises
I'm glad!
V nice information & tx
You're welcome!
Just got my bands today
What weight are you lifting at 3:13 in the video? How do we know how much weight we are lifting?
Do you have any exercises for shoulder? Thanks
Totally love your resistance bands exercises. Today is day 1 to do this.
Have a great day!
These are great! Now I have a realistic way to use some of the many bands I have purchased over time.
That last exercise though - maybe the combined exercise is not such a good one for resistance bands, as the load for the biceps curl will necessarily be a lot less than the load for the overhead press, because of the band stretch. But the first 4 will be a great addition to my fitness program, and I will switch out to weights (my girl weights!) for the last one, because I can see the benefit in the combined movement.
Keep up the great work!
Greetings from Brazil!😊 I am 69 yo and have practiced Pilates' exercises for 6 months this year. But, as I have shoulder arthrosis, I had an inflammation after exercising pulling the rope and circling the arms down open. I can't do those circular moves with the shoulders. The others I do with the mini-bands at home. What could be good to strength the muscles of the arms?
Can I use bands with a wider width that do not have the handles ?
On the first exercise he said you shouldn’t be leaning back when you’re standing up but when I look at him from the side he is leaning back. So should we lean back or not?
Going to try that.
Wishing you all the best!
Love your videos. just wondering with these exercises am I right in assuming e should not. Do them daily but rather every second day?
It depends on which band you use. If you use the easy bands that is the stretchiest ones, you can do them every day, because there’s not that much resistance. but if you use the thicker more resistive bands, you should do them every second or third day. Just like weightlifting
Does it require warm up before those exercises?
Thanks Will - this is great. I’ve started to do the early morning stretch routine every day and the back extension has made a big difference. Love your health promotion approach.
I'm so glad my approach works for you, thank you for your feedback!
looking for a similar resistance band exercise from you that is for lower body and core.
Name of the band? The strength level of the band?
Are all of these exercises compound exercises or just the last one?
Where can I purchase these bands?
Buy a bottle of liquid silicon, and wipe down your bands every so often. It helps them from drying out and cracking. Bodylastics is the brand of bands that I've used for years.
Will same moves with a pair of 5 kg dumbbells do same effect?
Hi! Kindly suggest few exercises to recover from femur neck surgery. I m 42 years old
Which resistance bands are best? I’ve never used them.
£20 in South Africa is quite expensive but I guess a set is worthwhile having if you need to stay fit as you grow older. I'm 68 and walk a lot but I quite like seeing what carrying 2 shopping bags is doing for my arm muscles. Thanks
Inspired me.
That's great to hear!
Anyone know how to choose the right length of the bands so they work with these exercises? I'm 5'4". Thank you!
I’ve no idea if any manufacturers make these type of bands in lengths for short or tall people but I suspect not. If the bands are too long then you will need to take a wider stance (feet further apart) to shorten the band or put more of the band under your feet as demonstrated in the first exercise. A suggestion in another manufacturer's video regarding shorter people is to wrap the band once around one of your feet.
Which color band should be used.plz give details
Yellow. Extra Light 10 Pounds
Blue. Light 20 Pounds
Green. Medium 30 Pounds
Black. Heavy 40 Pounds
Red. Extra Heavy 50 Pounds
These Have Changed My Fitness Lifestyle 4 The Better. I Hope This Helps U And Others Greatly.
I love your lovely British accent
The last one would be really good with a squat put in there too.
Sciatica
I’m under 50 but wanted to start from a basics. Got a light band but hardly can get it past my stomach and only 5ft 3. Guess I’m very weak.
What is the weight on the Band 20.30.40
Just try different strengths for each exercise to find the ones that you can just manage, then that's your starting point. As you do the exercises and get stronger, you might find you can gradually upgrade the bands. Or you might not - it doesn't matter as long as, at the end, your muscles are tired but not painful.
