I was just fitted for the Forged Tec X iron. It’s a touch larger than Forged Tec. They’re going to weaken the lofts because I’m a low ball hitter. Cobra has a winner with this series. I enjoyed your take on everything.
I went from the p770’s to the cobra forge tech. I loved the feel and performance. I haven’t tried the ping i530. Ping makes a good product. I use to play the i300. Feel was great dispersion was off with the offset pulled everything left. Great content
Forged tech will be a bit more powerful I would think than your P770s, nice clubs. I'm seriously thinking about going back to i530s, my Blueprints are just a bit too unforgiving.
I got the cobra forged tec this year and I have the nippon modus 3 120g shafts. high 40 - low 50 deg land angle, around 7k spin for 7i. granted i have a little slower swing speed than you but that would likely get the ball launching higher and a little more spinny than what your current numbers are with it. shafts may work well with the i530 as well.
Yeah, I am pleased to hear that. I'm quite shallow into the ball and don't create a lot of spin. If you're steep and or add loft at impact the spin rates can be way higher than what I produce, even with a slower swing speed. Your numbers are really healthy sounding though, whatever you're doing.
@@golffm6924 it’s partly what you’re saying but also partly the shafts. I had about 5k spin on 7i and 40-45deg land angle with the true temper mph 95 shafts
I just got fitted and it was between these two at the end, i went with the pings, they felt better and smoother, my grouping was much better too. Although the cobras went miles!
I've been on a hollow blade quest for over a year and just finished trying the Forged Tec. For me though they spin more than any other hollow blade by far. After trying just anout every option on the market the one that I've found to be best is the Honma TR21X. If you can find a set they're definitely worth a try. Best feel, great distance and spin with very little offset. Unfortunately I'm a steep player and the leading edge was getting into the turf more than I like so I just couldn't commit to them. I also hate the mole logo. Cheers!
I might struggle to get my hands on them to be honest, sounds interesting though, I'll keep my eyes open. Although I'm sure Honma will read this and send me a set now! That'll be right!
I haven't tried the Cobra irons, I tried the Ping i530 irons and bought them. Waiting for delivery is not fun. I didn't like the Taylormade irons more than my current set of Titleist 916 CB.
Hit both of these in recent fitting along with zx5 and 245. Ping i530 won out. Biggest difference for me btwn these 2 was the spin numbers. Wasn’t getting the spin I needed despite only being a .5 degree stronger than the i530. Also like the 3 different loft combinations Ping offer. They come in tom
In standard, untouched, spec, yes. The i230 7 iron is 33 degrees and the i530 is 29 degrees. Plus you've got a thin trampoline effect hollow body in the i530 which adds speed, so there's no contest in terms of distance. Forgiveness will be better also on the i530 but that wouldn't be a deal breaker. It's the distance which would be most noticeable. The i230 will not suffer from the dreaded 'flyer' effect which some people believe is a big problem with hollow bodied clubs. I personally, don't think it is an issue, for the average golfer. Tour Pros, maybe, but not mortals.
@@golffm6924 cheers for that , I'm actually in the same boat as yourself , I have the d9 forged , and was thinking ping Blueprint S , preferably just for the smaller size really , but if it's not as forgiving I may try the 230 and 530 , but that then leads me to the feel/sound , I need it as soft as possible !! I'll be trying them soon , and hope they feel/ sound soft enough , and also the top line has to be thinish , certainly not too thick !!
Great review I’m looking to move into players distance irons currently playing Stealth 2 irons and tried P790:which I could hit but on poor strikes lost too much distance. Which is more forgiving the 530i or Dynapwr forged? I’m a senior 16 handicapper. The Wilson’s look great and a fabulous price.nMany thanks.
Hi, thanks for watching and thanks for the comment, I would say there is almost nothing in it in terms of forgiveness between the Wilson and the Ping. I do think the Ping goes a little bit further, not much but a bit and may actually be too low spin for some people. But then the price of these irons are miles apart, so the Wilson is hard to ignore.
@@golffm6924 Many thanks for the sound advice I think it’s between these two. Interesting that the T350 which is an excellent game improvement iron costs the same virtually as the players distance forged. Titleist make great gear but think their strap line should be ‘ never knowingly underpriced’.
I would like to, it looks really nice, but I don't deal with Mizuno. I can't do every brand unfortunately and they weren't as accommodating a company to deal with, so I had to pass on Mizuno. The Pro 245s look great though.
Well done, I tried the forged tec x when they first came out and had the same experience, they were very long however the launch, spin and descent angle made them just a bit unplayable for me. Interesting that the forged tec is about 2 degrees weaker in loft than th forged tec X but the 7 iron is still 29.5 instead of 27 so still fairly strong. I have a set of i530s on the way 🏌🏻♂️
Nice, I am almost ready to push the button on the i530s I think and then there's everything else to sort after that , can't possibly use last year's Stealth 2 woods. Ancient technology!
@@golffm6924lol, you might be surprised there. I have the stealth 2 plus and was very curious about the QiLS to see how it could possibly improve on what I’ve found to be an excellent driver. Honestly I was a bit underwhelmed with the QiLS. I put it on same shaft and head weights were within 2 grams of each other and I did not like the performance. I found it to launch a bit lower and spin a bit less than the Stealth 2 plus. This made it more prone to produce that very low spin low launch mis hit that dives down out of the air on a below average strike. I tested both drivers quite extensively out on the course in real gaming conditions and the Stealth was just plain better (at least for me). I also found the sound and feel of the QiLS to be a bit louder and not quite as dull as the stealth which is I what I prefer. Your experience may vary of course. Looking forward to seeing those videos. Keep up the good work 🏌🏻♂️
Weirdly the one I’ve hit the best so far is the Cobra (blue head, blue shaft). Didn’t particularly like the look but just hit it so well, for me, every time I try it. But still have a lot of work to do …

Thanks for watching, much appreciated. Yes the Forged Tec X are really strong lofted. Very powerful. Sounds sensible getting the lofts up a bit.
I'm enjoying seeing your journey, thanks for sharing. Many of us are on a similar one.
Thanks, yes, finding a set you're really happy with isn't easy. I feel I'm getting close now though.

Yeah, I think I may well end up with the Pings aswell. One final test to do before I decide.

Yes I'm waiting for my Blueprint S and Taylormade wedges and I basically don't want to play golf until they're here.

Nice, yeah I'm leaning towards the Pings myself, one final test to do but I feel like it might be a done deal
I love my Ping i500's so I can understand why you like these "newer" versions.
Yes, they've gone back to that more simple, uncluttered look, the original one is really nice.
Any update on p770 vs 530?
I went to the Masters, so I'm trying to put that video together at the moment, its a lot of work. Ill get back to it after that

Yes, T350 is pretty nice as well, just, like you say, maybe a bit overpriced.
Why not include Mizuno pro 245
