Mistake in the Loft Table at the start! The images are the wrong way round. The top image is the i530 and the lower i525. I530 has 29 degrees loft standard and i525 has 30.5 degrees standard 👍🏻
I’ve been waiting on this comparison. I was hoping you were going to say these i530’s are revolutionary. Now I’m gonna have to make up another reason to buy them.
Second time I've watched this fantastic review . I do love the looks of the i530. The way you have explained the loft difference brings it back to Kiss. So, sticking with the i525 😊
Really glad to see this vid. I love my i525 and don't see a need to upgrade to these but might with the next update in 2 years or so. Ping really don't market themselves well enough for the forgiveness they deliver
I had an iron fitting yesterday abd was convinced to try the i530 irons. My last set was the i15 so the 530 were too much like blades Wow they were unreal Proven by my dispersion was very good The 530 are little $$$ high for my budget so I considered the 525. Your video is fabulous!!!!! Greeting from Canada 🇨🇦!! Paul
Could you add a shot of the sole/leading edge that actually shows the camber of the leading edge. A top view down of the sole is nice, but doesn't show the leading edge. Some manufacturer's don't even show this. Thanks
Nice job Jay...(it's like saying nice shot to a +5 handicap...of course it was a nice shot) Originally I thought I remembered you saying the i530 sound/feel was slightly quieter/softer. This time around I didn't get that impression. I do need the distance help now nearing 70...swing speed with a 7 still is respectable at low 80s...versus low 90s 3 years ago....ouch. That said, I don't like the sound and feel of most of the hollow irons I have tried and I was hoping the i530 may change that. I am set up to hit them in a couple of weeks along with Wilson Dynapower and Cobra Tec. I figure the Cobra Tec is also going to be louder/harder. Thoughts on what you found to be softer/quieter in hollow? I may throw in Pro243 into the mix but I'm not sure I will get that extra yardage (currently my TR20's are getting about 155 carry/160 total). On a slightly different note, have you seen the new Bettinardi CB irons recently announced. They look fantastic. I'm so tempted to try them but that would be my heart/eyes/ego choosing that direction where I am sure I won't see the gains I need to neutralize my aging process, at least for awhile. Thanks again Jay for the great review...now for the Wilson Dynapower and Cobra Tec compares😈 to Ping i530!
Glad you enjoyed the table, it's more work added to editing but personally I think it adds a lot. With regards to the ball videos idea, I've done ball videos in the past and they have had fairly low view counts so it seems not enough golfers want the content. With the amount of time they take to make (doen properly) honestly I'm not sure I could justify the time doing them 😕👍🏻👍🏻
@@AskGolfNut keep your focus on videos that enjoy strong viewership. What balls would you suggest to improve spin numbers for clubs like thr i525/530 - within swing speed categories maybe? 95-100 mph for instance.
Thanks Jay. Appreciate your work on all these videos. Just curious about the sound and feel between these 2. Incremental? (Sorry if I missed this part on the video) Just trying to decide if the upgrade would be worth it.
Love the new chart showing drop off from max, but would like to see that have yardage values as well! A maximum to minimum (poor contact location) would really be nice to see in yards.
Great video again Jay. When I studied the still at @6:24 I noticed one micromax groove difference to y i525 7 iron at heelside. Did you measure the difference? I have a distinct impression that the blade height at the heel has been reduced to make the i530 appear sleeker.
Haven't measured the specific height as yet. Although the i530 head is definitely shallower in height. This alone may well cause the vertical gearing effect shown within testing 👍🏻
I was set on getting i530s but balked at the $1300+ price tag. Found some i525s for under $500 for 5-PW. This video helped inform my decision. Thanks so much for the in-depth reviews and comparisons.
You made a good call. Always smart to look at the previous release. Big jump forward from the i500 to i525. Not so much from the 525 to the 530. The i530 is basically the i525 with stronger lofts, which a lot of players don’t even want. The mishit forgiveness gains won’t add up to anything meaningful.
Great review as always. I've been waiting for this one to see if the i530 is worth the extra cost, as the gains seemed so small I am not sure they are, the retro lofts on the i530's also seem a little close together, meaning you need an extra wedge, not ideal.
The 500 rpm difference is the stats section seems pretty big. I know you can change ball but any thought as to why this difference? Always best comparisons on TH-cam. Cheers!!
Not so sure about the LST but definitely the 10K is selling extremely well... If honest I'd say due to differences of flight dynamics over the 10K competition, it's the best one of the lot 👍🏻
@@AskGolfNut Yes sir. Standing too straight, gripping up on the club too much, etc. I just can't seem to fix it consistently...🤷♂ Thanks again for the wonderful analytics, your videos are incredibly easy to digest.
I have been playing the i525s since last summer, and I love the look and feel. I practically stole them with the upgraded Steelfiber shafts. One thing that baffles me is that they are supposedly distance irons, but I really didn't gain any distance. I actually lost distance from my old PXG 0211s because I would get a rollout from the cast PXGs vs the i525s, which stop on a dime (I consider that a good thing even when a 7 iron stops or even spins back a touch). Overall I love the irons, but they aren't a distance cheat code.
Well the i525 loose 2 degrees over the 0211's thats probably 7 yards, and would naturally come in shallower with less spin, overall though youre in a better iron.
@@andy_bickley I agree that it's a better playing iron, and I'd rather pitch darts than have a few extra yards because of rollout. I'm just saying they're advertised as a distance iron and I don't see anymore distance than even my 30 year old Ping Zings.
Finally, someone blending them the proper way without having to bend the living daylights out of both sets messing around every angle possible. Great choice to go two 7 irons, I'm assuming you got the i530 7 upwards a half inch longer than your i230s? 👍🏻
This is classic Ping, every generation is a little better than the last but without artificial gimmicks. The i500 was outclassed by its competition - not a bad iron, far from it, but not as good as the competition The i525 was as good as the competition, maybe even better than most and sold loads because it was a good iron The i530 is just a little better than the i525, of course some of the competition is a bit better as well but that just means that the i530 like the i525 is very competitive. The next thing that needs to be tested is the gapping. From memory, some people found there were gapping issues with the i525, I suspect Ping will have eliminated those in the i530 but it would be nice for confirmation.
I’ve had the i530 in the retro spec 6-P for about 6 weeks. Gaps really well. 10-12 yds btwn them with consistent 3.5 degrees from 42(P) - 27.5 (6). Also gaps well from 6 to cobra 5(24)/4 (21) hybrid
Great review as always…but, not sure why you would pick a green that’s elevated that will change your numbers…just pick a flat hole to get better baseline numbers…I don’t get it….
Hi Pete, on the second half of the video, it's done on plain level foresight range, same settings as all other reviews for consistency. When it comes to the simulator side of things it's meant to be a bit more real life where you can come up against all types of topography. Ages ago I did start doing the first half of the review on the Foresight Range and got loads of comments saying that it's silly as no one plays on driving ranges, they play golf on courses with undulating targets. So am trying to keep it real world as possible 👍🏻 all the data in the 2nd half is done on pure flat though so that is all transferable 👍🏻👍🏻
Honestly it would come down to the ability to be custom fitted properly for the i525. If you can get the exact specs you require then there wouldn't be enough performance gains going full i530 for the price difference (in my opinion), but most centres now are fitting i530 and have removed the i525 from the AFS Fitting Carts 👍🏻
I think the delofting of the 530 has a lot to do with blending this set with the G430 as well as keeping up with the competition in the distance department. The Qi10 7-iron is lofted even stronger at 28 degrees as is the AI Smoke. The Smoke has even lengthened the shaft of their 7-iron by a quarter inch. I bought G430s last year as I was getting back into golfing. Now that my iron play has gotten much better, I’m thinking of going into this series, starting at the lower end of the bag. Thanks for the video!
Why don't videos like this one hit some fades and draws to show how easy or difficult it is to control shots with that specific iron? Also, when discussing lofts, please take more time or slow down. Not everyone wants low-distance lofts. Still not sure if the 525 or 530 is stronger.
I always try to match the lofts in delivery where I can. I generally don't find an issue with lengths being too different and as long as I swing them the same speed and delivery the same as the other it's all very comparable 👍🏻
Just made a correction in the comment section! Unfortunately I'm unable to redit it or add something once published so have put the correction in the comments and pinned it 👍🏻
That very much depends on the region, the retailer, whether it's custom fitted or shop stock and other factors mean that anything other than saying the i530s will be more expensive would be a shot in the dark 👍🏻
I've had i525 since release date and I sort of got the review I hoped for..... not enough evidence for the argument with the Mrs, so the i525's can stay for another 2 seasons 👍

Surprised they “loft jacked” the 530 to game improvement levels even more so than their previous GI like g425 irons
Nice comparison. The results are so close together, I think they sre negligible. My swing is going to vary the results more than thede clybs will.
Awesome comparison, thank you. What would you say is the most consistent factor in thinning a shot?
So you mean from a swing fault perspective? 👍🏻
