Mike just makes me want to focus on gourmet mushrooms. I wanted to Venture into button farming but I'm more attracted to the science behind gourmet mushrooms and Mike just helps me learn so much. Mush love from Nairobi, Kenya.
If you're looking to get into farming for profit, yeah, you're probably better off getting into the more gourmet and medicinal species. Buttons are pretty much the most common commercial mushroom in the world, and competing with the huge businesses already doing it is going to be hard.
@@otacon1024 in Kenya we don't have a major button mushroom farmer, we actually import our mushrooms from Rwanda but there's high demand for food grown in the country and mushrooms specifically, mushroom farming is still a fairly new thing here with most farmers growing on a small scale but still making good money cause of the high demand and low supply. The problem is a time is coming when the market will be saturated with button mushrooms but gourmet mushrooms are still on high demand with very few people producing them, i see this as a form of future proofing
wood decaying mushrooms get their moisture from the core of the tree they are decomposing. rainfall doesn't really influence flushes of saprotrophs for this reason, since the moisture is stored in the core of the tree. mycorrhizal species rely on rainfall to fruit more so than saprotrophs.

However I totally want to grow some Lion's Mane. What's really cool is that I am getting my dad interested in growing mushrooms, once I get things figured out then I am going to go teach him what I've learned.
I bought your lions mane block a month or so ago. It is perfect, growing & fruiting perfectly. Except.. this one was one of the few of your vids that I hadn't watched, so I didn't know that you maintain 3 strains of lions mane, and I didn't recognize the "he3" on my label... so I was watching for the "long shaggy teeth" to indicate harvest time, and they never grew, so I woke up one morning and my gorgeous white "young" pom-poms were suddenly golden tan. No problem really.. I'll catch the next flushes in time...
Does this mean we'll see some powdered Lion's Mane in stock at your on-line store soon? Hope so! We're so happy with the Reishi powder we ordered from you.

@00waterski00 I was taking both at the time, so I can't say no, although I could have had some fears of my own that caused them. Thing with reishi is that for some, it needs to be grown/cultivated the right way (high triterpenes or from spore oil) for some, or it may not have a calming/sleep effect ; instead it might have your mind race with a thought of what happened earlier in the day for most of the night.

Hey Taylor, a dedicated grow room strategy. I do this by keeping logs, as well as a mandatory 15-30 minute cleaning daily. This keeps the grow rooms clean and manageable between crops. Grow rooms can become contaminated if they are mismanaged, causing more work in the long run, as well as the risk factors associated with the potential loss of future crops and harvests.
Anyone care to explain the differences in cutting the bags`? I noticed sometimes he does a crosshatch, while other times he does these diagonal lines. Any reason?

hey man dont know if its possible but could you do a vid on your set up? just like what tents you use your humidifier set up how you regulate temp etc etc.
If you cut more areas open on the bag would you get more mushrooms? Like cut 3 or 4 sides of the bag.? Or doesn't it work that way? Would you get less or more mushrooms?
If you start with side fruiting and don't get a decent size mushroom, can you flip the bag over and cut the top and top fruit? Tuesday will be 2 weeks for my Lion's Mane and it's about the size of a regular white button mushroom you'd buy at the grocery store.
Mush lovin your videos bro! When fruiting out of the side for the second time, are new slits recommended after covering old silts for better fruiting bodies or do you use the same slits?
