In the master duel story it mentioned Vendread Anima isn't actually the woman Slayer loved, but the form the merged Vendreads took in an attempt to demoralize the Slayer after seeing her in his pendant. Which only made him even madder and ripped every copy of her apart more brutally, that also explain why there are multiple images of her from behind with different features.
My man, they would need a massive revamp at best. At the low end, we would need to get more universal effect monsters, OP spells/traps, and easier access to the effect monsters that boost the ritual monsters. We'd need so much to make the archetype viable in the meta, maybe even a monster that functioned as a ritual spell like a pendulum or extra deck monster. In summery we would need more that what Konami would want to do (probably).
@YautjaAlphaPrime I can make Vendread rogue with 2 cards. Avendread Guardian Lv6 Dark Zombies Ritual 2900/0 This card's name becomes "Revendread Slayer" while in the hand, Deck, GY, or on the field.. - (Quick Effect) You can discard this card. - If this card is sent to the GY; Add a Vendread Card and Vendread spell from your deck to your hand. - You can only activate the following effect of Avendread Guardian Once per turn. (Quick Effect) Send a Vendread card from your hand or deck to the GY; this card is treated as having been ritual summoned using that monster on the field. ~~~ Vendread Devourers Lv3 Dark Zombie 1700/0 You can only use each effect of "Vendread Devourers" Once per turn. - (Quick effect) If this card is in your hand GY, or banishment: Send a Vendread card except "Vendread Devourers" from your hand or deck to the GY; Equip this card to a monster on the field. - A monster equipped by this card is treated as a Dark Zombie Vendread monster, it can't activate its effects and can't be used as material to summon a monster from the extra deck except zombie monsters take control of the equipped card at the start of your turn. - A Vendread monster summoned using this card gains this effect: (Quick Effect) Once per turn, Look at your opponents hand and banish a card from it until your next draw phase.
Vendreads would honestly be infinately better if Konami got off their arse and gave them actually *good* Ritual Monsters. Executor is literally the only decent one.
@filipvadas7602 Barely, the best Ritual is the original because it's a combo piece. Vendreads should have been allowed to break the Ritual rule and be allowed to overpay. "Equal or exceeds" actually just says "Equal or the minimum amount to equal the ritual monsters level"
Vendread Chimera can also be nods to Umbrella making creepy almagamations of various animals as BOWs, the notable one being Hunters, having insect, human, and reptile, as I recall. It also reminds me of Nyx, the endgame boss in Resident Evil Outbreak, File #2 which was some blob like fleshpile that absorbed dozens of bodies of UBCS personnel and even a Tyrant to give it a large body.
Vendread has THE best card with storyline which has proper ending and epilogue. Maybe alongside Albaz's story but that one currently has too many loose ends..
Vendread. An archetype the community wishes had a good playstyle worthy of its amazing lore. At least as half as playable as Buster Blader 1:18 i would have never expected a reference to fantastic four's the thing in this channel
I play a Vendread deck just because I love the horror genre. I also play a Vampire & Zombie World Deck. I would love it if they introduced a werewolf archetype. It would be perfect for the Gemini mechanic.
I am sorry man, gemini would be good as an idea, but the execution would be hard, gemini card are not that good. If it had a dream mirror or dragon maid sorta mechanic then it would be better for switching between human and werewolf form.
With Vendread's story in Master Duel, I can see a bit of Batman in Vendread Slayer. Their origins are similar, becoming heroes after witnessing the death of their loved ones, they both work exclusively in the night, both tend to fight with lightning fast ferocity. It also reflects in their villains, Vendread's story was that after the Slayer started slaying the Vendread horde had to evolve to beat him, similar to how Batman's supervillains appeared after he started his crusade with some of them being made by his own hands.
@Miranha-SupremoV17 Yeah I said Parasyte due to Core resembling that of Migi fron Parasyte, Attack on Titan due to Charge giving off Attack on Titan vibes which Chimeras posing as "Titans", and Disturbed since Ravager kinds reminds me of "The Guy".
@@EditKingNumber5 I've heard of Parasyte and it's a grotesque work about several aliens that have hosts, and their objectives are some to assimilate others to devour the human race, Nowadays, I just want to forget that this anime existed, because I'm still upset about that horrible ending, and this Retcom of the Giants being chimeras kind of ruined the story in part.
An idea about a Future "The Unknown Side of YUGIOH " would be : unreleased monsters that appear in another card artwork . Examples include the bird in " Simul Archfiends " , the thunder demon in " Thunder Discharge " the dragon in Exosister Trap cards and so on .
Such a cool achetype, the Spawn & resident evil refrences are apparant but the thing i never but together. More support would be nice, perhaps a fusion that uses vendreads in the hand then sets up materials for the ritual cards? Or anything honestly. Nice one Logs, Love the spider avatar BTW, we'll miss Aki, but thats a hugable bug
Vendred might be one of my favorite decks for its build-a-ritual monster concept with what members of the undead hordes slayer is killing and absorbing is brilliant. But running one of each, only really wanting untargetable and either banish, and everything demanding a banish with no real recovery whatsoever ruins it. Imagine if they just had a few more good ritual monster effects and/or a way to actually recover that pile of banished cards. Plenty of other decks like banish recovery, It doesn't need to be Ghoti but just... give it kozmotowns banish recovery on a new field spell or continuious or monster... Hell I'll take banishing something else as a swap.
7:55 - I'm pretty sure Houndhorde takes inspiration from the Blade Trinity Vampire dogs, as the mouth of the one in the middle opens up just like the ones from the movie. 11:31 - The fact that this wasn't in the Trivia section of the Wiki for this card when I looked is crazy because of how obvious it seemed to me. But it would have to be one of the craziest coincidences *EVER* for this *NOT* to be a reference to Evil Dead 2 where Ash turns into a Deadite, sees his girlfriend's necklace, grabs it, and fights the corruption until he regains control again. Vendread Nights and Daybreak could also be references to vampire fiction like "I Am Legend", the aforementioned Blade, and Evil Dead as the sun appears to harm Slayer as if he were a vampire, but is not completely destroyed just like the protagonists of Blade and Evil Dead.
We all joked about that in DL since for some unknown reason they released him (and no other additional Vendread support) in the same box that have the Madolche XYZs. I guess Konami was in on the joke about him bringing the bakery.
Only time they had a chance was duel links when ritual cage was a skill to give executer untargetable, no damage, and cant be destroyed to card effects and executer protected cage from targeting.otherwise use them to link climb
I play vendread deck for fun. But sadly, it's not very viable in the Meta. The consistency of the deck isn't very good. I try to work on it, but it usually doesn't turn out very well. All in all, I love the archetype. It's one of my favorite archetypes to play with friends, and it's fun to experiment with I loved the video, and I can't wait to see more good work.
I always thought the name of Revendread Slayer was very on the nose about it being a reference to Ninja Slayer. They both have the giant flowing cape, glowing eyes, and are heroes killing their own evil "kind" in a big city. Revendread Origin is also kinda similar to how Ninja Slayer recalls his dead wife and child before turning into a Ninja. Avendread Savior could also be a nod to how Ninja Slayer gets a power-up at the end after defeating his nemesis. The Revenants remind a bit me of Necromorphs from Dead Space, but only maybe the Slashers from Dead Space Downfall. Maybe Vendread Anima is similar to how Isaac sees illusions of his dead girlfrliend Nicole and then fights back as we see in Vendread Nightmare.
oh I didn't know much about the different Spawn references in the archetype so I always thought the pendant was meant to be a reference to the Birkin family from Resident Evil.
Vendred is such a cool archtype, unfortuneatly the gimick was poorly done. I love the idea of a ritual archtype that got bonus abilities from materials.... if only those materials didnt have to be on field (among other issues)
i’m sorry but saying that raccoon city is best known from operation raccoon city is like saying that link from the legend of zelda is best known from link’s crossbow training on the nintendo wii
No judgement here! I love Vendreads and I totally get the sentiment of playing low-powered decks against bots. I did that quite a bit before ever considering playing ranked for most of my decks when I played Master Duel actively
Vendreads are an archetype where the difference between their lore and actual gameplay is night & day. Moat of their issues would unironically be fixed if Konami actually gave them *good Ritual Monsters* Executor is literally the only actually *decent* one.
I always got DOOM vibes from the Slayer, given that his title matches the player character in the 2016 reboot. Revendread Slayer's origin as the Slayer is similar to Doomguy becoming the Doom Slayer too: the former learned that his wife was killed by the Vendread, so his rage and lust for revenge overcame his zombification, granting him unlimited power, while the latter learned that his pet rabbit, Daisy, was killed by demons, which sent him into such a powerful frenzy that it led him down a furious, violent path to Rip and Tear all demons and acquiring unlimited power. The Slayers are some of the coolest protagonists ever and I love that others in the YGO! community recognize Avendread Slayer for his coolness. 😁😁😈💀🔥🔥
The archetype overall art is cool and all, but there's something i don't like at all about the Slayer design and is that giant weird rhino spike on his feet/boots. It looks so goofy and out of place.

Eventually the amount of zombies they print will make these card tech options in pile decks. I hope that’s enough for you.

I definitely thought about Spawn and Resident Evil. What else was there? Cool zombie antihero vs bad zombies haunting him.
Reminder that it also took cues from Parasyte, Attack on Titan and the Band Disturbed
Or Resident Evil.

This series is so great. It's cool to learn about the references to pop culture in these cards and archetype.
I could be wrong but couldn't anima be a reference to Jill when she was evil because of that weird jewel thing in resident evil 5?

Just realized how thicc the avendread savior actually was when the card popped up in this video 😂

Great video to post on Halloween. Hope you had a good one. You should do this kind of video again.
Don’t know if you’ve done something like this before but best cards of a given year would be cool.
One of my favorite archetypes. I love this deck
Vendread standing alone with 3 reference pools
Meanwhile most OCG first archerypes:
"So, how many references is this baby based on?" "YES"
Sorry but Raccoon city is popularly know because of resident evil 1,2,3 not operation raccoon city.
I play vendread deck for fun. But sadly, it's not very viable in the Meta.

I loved the video, and I can't wait to see more good work.
Wanted to play it in DL but it seems even the generic skills don't do it much.
Is this some sick joke Konami?
I need to go back to collecting Spawn comics. I started back when Spawn Universe came out. Gunslinger needs a Vendread card.

"You're going down...Clown."
This deck needs so many more waves of support. I just wish vendread was at bare minimum rouge

I always tought anima was a reference to parasyte Eve.
Vendread origin looks alot like a reference to evil dead 2 movie
The need an actual boss monster tbh one that I’m not embarrassed to end on

Halloween yugioh cards
Anima = Heart. It is indeed most likely related to Spawn.
sorry i will not let you know if you missed any more references.
Finally , I missed those soundtracks on your videos . How can I get them?
In reality ravenger and scar are ALSO based on spawn
They comes from the Spawn manga who is popular in jp
Bro could you make a video on top 10 rank 8 xyz monsters
It's weird that you spent so much time elaborating on Spawn lore and couldn't bother to mention that Spawn was Kazuki Takahashi 's favorite superhero.
Wanted to play this in DL but don't have the cards
Vandread Chimera remind me more of Rat King from The Last of Us Part 2
Thumbs up if you ever saw the 50s version of The Thing.
Ngl I thought they had some dead space influence… thought they were very reminiscent of necromorphs…
And they still managed to screw it up.
a good list?
