    I bought this machine a few years ago when my elderly dog was having...problems. I used it like crazy and loved how much easier it was than my sister's cleaner, or a rental one. I just found the bag of attachments in my basement, and immediately went on the hunt for a tutorial on how to use them. Thank you so much for your clear explanation.

    Did you try the rubber brush to see if it goes down deeper in to the carpet because it looks like the bristle brush loosens the top of the carpet hairs really good.

  • @aval5098
    @aval5098 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    It’s always a good idea with any carpet cleaner to rinse the solution out of the carpet by running the machine with hot water (and in some situations an acidic agent like vinegar water to ph balance the alkaline cleaners). I also love that you sprayed the solution and then turned off the machine so you let it dwell and have time to agitate.
    What I’ve started to do is to spray my carpet with one of those pump sprayers with my solution (the solution varies depending on the situation) and then I run the machine with just hot water for extraction. Sometimes I’ll do two passes in a situation where I put the solution in the carpet cleaner and then go over it again with water but 99% of the time that’s not necessary.

    • @DillonCleans
      @DillonCleans  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s a good idea with the pump and then hot water. Hot water helps. But it’s usually not all that necessary. Just the water coming out of the machine will work. But if the stain is really stubborn, hot water can definitely help. Thanks for sharing!

    • @aval5098
      @aval5098 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DillonCleans no problem! That’s more for rinsing after the stain is removed though. I say hot water but it isn’t very hot- I imagine most people can get much hotter water from their tap than I do. (for context I live in a hot place so my tap cold water is barely cool and it doesn’t take much heat to make it hot so most water heaters are set to about 120 F).
      Hot water does help with some stains, though it may set certain protein stains such as blood. I mostly use it so the carpet is neutral. If you leave soap in the carpet fibers then the cleaning agents are reactivated every time the carpet is even slightly damp and and then the carpet will trap dirt because of the soap. Rinsing the carpet also helps it to stay feeling soft and prevents the build up of soap residue that can be a disaster over time. Even a professional has difficulty when there’s too much cleaner in the carpet as it causes a lot of foaming.

    • @DillonCleans
      @DillonCleans  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@aval5098 you sure do know your stuff!! I wouldn’t expect any average person to know all that, but that is all correct! I personally don’t use hot water because it works just fine for me with cold water, but hot water definitely helps. I’m glad you take the time and learn things before trying it. It makes the process go much smoother!

Or maybe don't imagine..it gets bad. My husband constantly critiques me. Do I have to run the machine like the kind you rent, where it takes a week it seems or can I use it as it was advertised as?

    • @DillonCleans

      i think the machines that are rentable work decent, but they don't clean them between uses. Since you have puppies , I would definitely recommend you buy your own. I recommend the Bissell proheat 2x revolution pet pro, and the hoover smart wash. If you're on a budget, I recommend the hoover steamvac. It will be worth it in the long haul.

      The hose will suck out as much water as it can. Make sure to go over it plenty of times to get out as much water as possible. But it can’t get it all out. The drying time depends on the type of material you are doing this on. A clinch may be just 2-3 hours. But this carpet that I used it on took 16 hours to dry.

    For some reason, my hose doesn't suction anymore. The vacuum does but the hose doesn't. Very strange.

    • @DillonCleans
      @DillonCleans  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Make sure the water tank and the collection tank are securely in place. Make sure the machine is in the upright position. And check for clogs in the hose as well as in the opening where the hose connects to in the vacuum. Check is there’s suction at that port.

    • @Adrian-X1

      Make sure that the seal of the hose onto the machine is there and clean. Make sure the water tank is set into place securely. Make sure the solution tank is the same way. Be sure that there are no gaps anywhere is the air path. If this doesn’t help, please give Hoover a call

      Make sure that the clean water tank and dirty water tank are secured in place. Make sure the red screen on the top of the dirty water tank when removed from the machine is also clean. Make sure that all the seals sealing the tanks and hoses are intact. Make sure the hose is securely in place on the machine. Make sure the clear plastic piece on the hand nozzle is secure and in place. If it’s not then it won’t suck up anything. Make sure the machine is on and running smooth. Hopefully that helps. If not let me know or contact Hoover. If you register that machine, you have a 5 year warranty. And the customer service is really really good.
