As an adult I now LOVE red beet eggs but am pretty picky about them being done just right. Good to know you loved them here! Such a good snack 😊👍. I really like their whoopie pies there too ;)
Thank you 😊 it’s a really great place and you can tell they care a lot about the quality of the products. We don’t have anything like that where we live either!
One of the best shops for meat in Lancaster county, Being a Pennsylvanian I have been in Florida for over 40 years, but every chance I get to go back to PA this is a must shop.
Has anyone tried Newtown Farmers market in Bucks county? I love that place so much. I come from NYC to see family in Philly and whenever we get a chance we go there to shop. It's such a nice place to go away and shop from the urban NYC markets.
Thanks for the recommendation but no I have not been there. I have not heard anyone else mention it on here either but I always appreciate suggestions- good to know if I’m ever up that way :)
Love Stoltzfus meats. We shop there, usually, once a week. I have never seen it empty. I guess you were there right before they opened. Thank you for sharing this!
Oh you are so fortunate to shop there weekly!! The day I was there it has rained for hours that morning and I went right there after the rain a bit after 8AM - I got lucky that it was mostly empty for filming :). It was VERY different when I came back after lunch!! So crowded 😎
Great Tour! Good job capturing the cleanness and variety of the store. Lunch was excellent and a good value. Sorry the ham balls weren't as good as I had hoped. To me the store is close to heaven, I would spend way to much if we lived there. Thanks for bringing back a great memory and thanks for the shout out.
David! 🤩 I guess u have discovered the one upside to not living closer - spending less on groceries 🤪😂😀 And it is nice to revisit whenever we want to now 😊
This is always our last stop on our vacation before we go home. We pack our huge cooler with ice and head to Stoltzfus Meats. In the beginning of the pandemic we even were getting meat shipped to us in Massachusetts from there because it was so hard to find here.
This was another tour from you .i hate to say thi but we’ve never stopped at there and tried one of there sandwiches.but we always stopped in country store and I we always get there. Coffee.
In my 20s (back in the 80s) I was invited to a hog roast down in North Carolina... SnowHill.. it was a chilly day in early winter, I was puzzled. Turned out the family was butchering 4 big pigs. I had never seen this.. They had already been dispatched (the pigs that is) and were hanging nose down from a couple big low branch trees. I was amazed...Im raised on farms so not squeamish..but had never seen the whole process.. Yes they used everything but the squeal.
That is quite a story! 😃😍😂👍 thanks for sharing;) I would have been a bit freaked out by that at that age 😊 but I LOVE bacon and pork barbecue so I would have dealt with it 😍
We are always impressed with the quality of the meat in Lancaster. The prices are higher than in this area, but it always looks so much better. If every seat is full, it must be good. I really enjoyed the tour and will want to check it out when we make it back to Lancaster. Thanks for sharing.
@@vafunseekers I am headed there w a friend and her daughters for the Bird in-Hand race weekend which is Sept 9-11th!! It is SUCH a fun weekend! I highly recommend! We just walk the 5K on Friday evening sept 9th. Starts at 6:30. Will warn u- close lodging sells out months in advance. It’s a little less crowded than it was pre-Covid though. The race itself is set up across the street from the Bird-in-Hand family Inn 👍
We love this place. Live 2 hours away and try to get there e set 2 to 3 on the. Their meats and baked goods are the best. Amos place makes a great lunch but doesnt have a lot of place to sit.
Awesome, Jan! And yes I was amazed at how almost every seat was taken at Amos’ Place! It’s probably better in the warmer months when the outdoor seating offers more options 😊👍
This was a great tour! We love to shop here and also grab a sandwich at Amos Place! We load up a cooler with a big purchase at the store before we head home when our vacation ends. Never disappointed! On our last trip we bought a French bread that just came out of the oven along with some Lebanon sweet bologna and ate that on the ride home - it was delicious. It’s such a clean store and I agree that their baked goods are top notch. It’s become my favorite bakery. Also a great place for fresh herbs and spices. I’ve heard their pizzas are good too! I appreciated your review of the ham balls because I almost bought them. I once bought the ground ham and made my own ham balls from the Bird in Hand Family Inn recipe and that worked out well😁
Great review and advice, Debbie!! Love that you load up with a cooler! And yes, they had a TON of herbs and spices! I definitely need to get the Bird-in-Hand Family recipe of the ham balls!! I didn't know it was publicized : ))) I have yet to have success making my own ham balls... Thanks for your helpful and encouraging comment ; ) !!
thanks so much for posting this video. We are going to Lancaster for vacation in June and this look like a place we fore sure need to check out. Do you have any other recommendations we for sure should look into?
Hey there:) How awesome that your are headed to “Paradise” in June! I have LOTS of places I recommend and have done over a 100 videos on Lancaster tips for trips :). So you can browse the channel to look around but I will give you my food tip now: if you are not super familiar with Lancaster food, I highly recommend a big buffet to sample all the delicious food. Shady Maple has the most variety for sure. But Miller’s Smorgasbord and Bird-in-Hand are very delicious and still have a good amount of food. I’m going paste a link to my “Ultimate Guide to Lancaster” here and hopefully that will also give you a good starting point. Also, one of my favorite places is Old Windmill Farm. It’s a working Amish farm that offers all sorts of experiences to understand how they run their farm and even some experiences where you can eat with them. There is also dining with the Amish in a couple different ways. All that should be covered in this video :) PLEASE feel free to ask me more specific recommendations if you want! I love talking about Lancaster ♥️ th-cam.com/video/F_6ew4Ida7U/w-d-xo.html
@@ElleLiving We are going for 2 days. Planning on eating at the Shady Maple and at Dienners. And going to Roots and Bird In Hand Markets. If time we want to check out the Lil Country Store and Miniature Horses, Stoltzfuz Meats, AAA Buggy Rides and the Kitchen Kettle Market. But that seems like a lot to do in a short time.
@@PopsMafia I LOVE it! These are terrific plans!! Great job 👏 👏👏. You don’t need my help but if any questions come up I will do my best to find answers for you 😊. Have a wonderful time and I believe you can hit all those places 👍👍😍😍
Prices look high on things. Inflation will definitely cause us to purchase less this year. We usually get ton's of their butter to bring home but at over $8 it's getting over priced. Boneless chicken thighs were how much? OMG Definitely not gonna fill that cooler this year.
If this place makes your favorite Whoopie Pie, who makes your favorite Shoo Fly Pie? I have to try the whoopie pies here. Currently my favorite whoopie pie is at Hometown Kitchen Restaurant. Dare I say Hometown Kitchen is even better than Katie’s Kitchen..!
@@rnunge5415 thanks for your comments and questions ☺️🥰 Shoo fly pie is tricky but I do LOVE it at Bird-in-Hand Family Restaurant!! And Hometown Kitchen is on my list of places to try!! So thank you for your suggestions 👏🥰
Nice video, however, you moved so quickly in your video that one could scarcely see what you were showing much of the time ( the menus, for example, or the cheeses).
@@michaelotruba1308 I agree. This was a couple years ago, hopefully I’m improving with time. My personality is pretty fast so I have to remind myself to slow down, especially when I’m excited 👍😊 I did go back recently and got better pricing shots of their stuff. It’s on my “what to do on a rainy day in Lancaster “ video ☺️
This is our favorite place shop for meats and bake goods.
I hear that often 😊👍
One of my favorite stores. Thank you for touring it
Did you hear they plan on adding on? Just saw a post about it this week 😊😊👍👍 thanks for watching!
Thanks for reviewing. We visited. I love red beet eggs and their were very good. We stocked up on snack for the hotel.
