Love Green Dragon. My wife and I went there for years in the 90s but didn't go back again until 2021. It was a reduced size at that point but it looks like its grown back to its pre-pandemic size again, which is great to see. We did not eat at Green Dragon in 2021 because there were not many food stalls with prepared foods I'm guessing because of the pandemic at the time. We ended up eating at the Ephrata Diner in town. On a side note, I loved the way your pronounced Roots as a cross between the word roots and ruts. There is no mistaking that you're from South-Central PA. It's the accent I grew up around and I don't hear it enough being in NYC mostly full time now.
lol 😂 that is how I grew up hearing that word and how my family still says it 😆👍🤣 Those who are not from the area probably think I am terribly at pronunciation but you and I know that I’m right 😂😂😅 I can understand that being a problem post pandemic. It was interesting to see how different businesses reacted to it. But I’m so glad most everything is back to healthy and productive operating levels 😊😊👍👍
Glad you made it there finally! Nothing exactly like these LanCo markets like this and Roots. You can purchase just about anything you can want. No LanCo visitor should miss these markets.
Thank you for sharing! I’m from Puerto Rico but visit Pennsylvania several times in the year and Friday’s are a must stop at Green Dragon’s and Wednesdays at Leesport’s.
Great video. We want to go but it looks like a lot of walking and no places to sit. That was a good looking shirt you had on. Angie was drooling over the ice cream. That is her all-time favorite flavor. Lapp Valley farms is the best! Had sticky buns for breakfast this morning, freezing them for the trip back worked great. God bless and safe travels.
Oh nice! Good idea to freeze them :) I’ll be featuring her shirt in a soon to come live-stream :) There were a few places to sit but not a lot. Similar to Roots. Glad you made it back safely 😊
Just wanted to say how much I love your channel. My family loves Lancaster and we go every year. But we’ve never been to this market. We are actually driving there right now as I type, and we are going to the Green Dragon for the first time ever today. We are from Long Island, NY. @@Karen-to9lr oh how nice! I’m from York county which is bw Gettysburg and Lancaster:). Roots is the market I’m most familiar with but I definitely think the outdoor area at GD is roomier :) Thanks for saying hi!
There's a family out of Maryland I follow a husband and wife and they have 2 sons and every week they do a crumble cookie video talking about and eating the new cookies for that week
There was so many roumers about 20 years about putting a housing development in there but I don't think they can because when we get a lot of rain that area floods like crazy from the cocalaco creek there's been a few times where the green dragon couldn't open because of the flooding and I think some of the lower buildings can get flooding in them to
The original building where they use to do the animal auction at about 9 or 10 years ago had a huge fire in it and the building burnt down to the ground there's a new building in its spot now the news when that happened made the news in the Philadelphia area then to
Wow! That’s so interesting! I feel like I remember something happening to GD awhile ago. Hopefully no one was hurt. Did they ever determine how it started ?
They determined there was a little Cafe in that building you could get hot dogs French fries burgers and some other stuff and I think if I remember someone forgot to turn of all the equipment that night
Also if you go back to 2011 you can see all the flooding in that area from when hurricane Irene came up the coast they didn't open up the green dragon that Friday because everything was flooded in that area
@@shoebill181 yeah i understand- I kinda explained that a bit in video 😊 It was difficult to record when it was so busy and I didn’t want to have the phone in people’s faces too much 🫣 And it was just a quick trip. I hope to get more footage someday - will just have to find a less busy time if that exists 🤣
Sorry to hear that. So what are they not doing that they used to? Or what do they not sell that they used to? Curious about what is different ☺️ thanks for your time
