I love the internal logic of this sketch. Like real medicine, with more serious cases, the treatment becomes more aggressive and riskier. What SNL don't seem to realise is you need to be smart enough in order to pull off dumb. You can't just scream a lot with bad impressions and pop culture references.
Well, I'm a hypnotherapist and I find it hilarious. Mind you, I don't wear a bow tie or emit green rays. Anyone in our profession who has a sense of humour will find this sketch funny. In fact, I'd say the whole Big Train series was rather excellent...
I suppose if you are an evil hypnotist working professionally, you would probably be required to tell the patient, like in the sketch. You wouldn't want problems afterward, if the patient found out about the evil later. You could get sued.
are people genuinely finding this offensive? this show also has men getting pregnant, women dating temporary traffic lights and people made of foam! you think it has anything to do with reality? its surreal comedy, i think 'checkoutmymelody' is the only person in the world who has taken this sketch seriously. if anything it addresses and ridicules some of the silly stereotypes that hypnotism has gained if you're going to look at it seriously.
I must admit I have never seen this. Thanks for posting it. One of my favorites (though highly silly) is Red Dwarf. Unfortunately I must concur with your assessment of America's youth, ignorant, uneducated, and with a decisive lack of the English language. But as Oscar Wilde said when asked if he had anything to declare: only my wit.

I know what you mean. This documentary about hypnotism does not get the facts across correctly. For example, everyone knows The Bow-tie Method has been out of use for ages and even The Green Rays Approach is starting to be frowned upon.

@BillionSix i find that the evil are usually very careful about that sort of thing. They have a very thorough legal department
