- I’m this first episode of a new series “Let’s Open It Up” we spend time disassembling an Invicta Pro Diver, powered by a Seiko NH35 movement. Please keep in mind I’m not a professional watchmaker. I like learning how things work, so if I label something wrong or get something wrong, just let me know.
The NH35 is a workhorse movement for so many watches out there. Today we’re looking at what makes it “Tick.”

I like this series, Harrison. Neat video! Well done!
Thanks!
Great video - I learned a lot. Thanks for taking the time to make it!
I have the Invicta sea wolf with this movement,I like the movement,it's not the prettiest movement but I find it very reliable for what you pay and I believe you get a lot for so little.
Thanks for the breakdown of the NH35 movement,I found it very interesting and confirms to me it's pretty good value for the money.
Thanks again.
Anytime! Glad it helped!
Excellent look inside this NH35A, of which I have two, so that was very interesting and helpful. Thank you, and yes, more please! 👏 👏 👏
More to come!
Outstanding video!!!
I’ve had this model probably since 1998 or so. Runs very well still ,although I no longer wear it. I wore a decent amount. More of a testament to Seiko and their movement than Invicta. I am thinking about using the Invicta to practice working on watches….. it would be my first.
Great review
Oh my gosh, what an excellent tutorial on the inside working of this excellent, yet maligned Invicta with a really substantial Seiko movement. My watch keep’s very accurate time. Isn’t that what’s it all about?
Thanks! Yes it is. That and enjoyment!
Is it weird that I actually prefer wearing this over my submariner for daily wear? I love the custom yellow Seiko mechanism with the seethrough glass. Can not believe this comes at 1/1000th of the price of an actual sub! Amazing watch value for the money
I got an Invicta 1953 2 months ago.I replaced the hr and min hands(horrid lume),put it on an Erika’s style strap, adjusted the(out of the box)-8 sec a day to -2/+2.I am just in love with this Watch.Great vid👍🏻🍀
Nice! Great piece. Enjoy!
Mine out of the box is +22 a day. Thinking about trying to regulate myself. But not sure what to do.
That's exactly what i would do. It would be nice if invicta offered ceramic bezel and sapphire crystal. I think they want to keep the price point really low. It's really a good value.
Great review!
Thanks!
Very cool! Unexpected on a watch "reviewer" channel, if I may be so bold as to refer to you as such. Keep it up!
Thanks!
thanks for this. I just bought this watch because it's about as close as Ill ever get to a Submariner. I'm a novice watchmaker/repairman too. Completely comfortable now with basic movements with a date complication but this one...Gotta admit, this one makes me a bit nervous taking it apart because that is alot of parts I've never seen before. Lots of photos will need to be taken. So when you first opened yours, how was the lubrication? Should I clean and lube when I get it? I think the version with the swiss movement is a definite upgrade.
Very good. I'm wondering if you will be putting all the pieces back together again.
Yes it’s all together again!
Excellent video. Thank you. My pro diver runs great. Only loses about 2 sec a day. Its just too big and bulky for me. I'm thinking about taking the movement out and putting it in a smaller, slimmer, non diver case. I've seen some on Ebay and Ali Express for around $40USD Any recommendations? Thanks again.
None that I’ve tried. I’ve only tinkered with movements and full watches, never a case swap
what are your thoughts about watch winders in general as a way to keep mechanical watches running and springs fully tensioned? Good or bad for the watch?
I think it depends on the winder. The ones that alternate on and off are probably equivalent to wearing them every day. They let the mainspring unwind a bit before winding up again
WristSwap...In fact the NH35 is not made by Seiko but rather by TMI Time Module...The NH series was launched in 2008 by TMI....Time Module (TMI) manufacture high quality mechanical movements, quartz movements, and gearboxes to the global watch market...Time Module (TMI) movements are sold through SEIKO Manufacturing (H.K.) Ltd., a subsidiary of Seiko Group Corporation....That explains why Seiko is not stamped anywhere on the Invicta movement...just saying...
subbed
What's the model # to find this on their website? I typed NH35 and a bunch of chinese watches popped up
Just noticed invicta has 44mm nh35a and 40mm nh35a. Does that mean I can buy nh35a 42mm case and swap with it either invictas'? Nice Video BTW.
Yes it does. Typically they have individual movement spacers to make up the difference in diameter between the cases
@@HarrisonElmore Thanks for the info. I assumed spacers are used but I can't find such a spacer. I'd probably take the risk of ordering a eta/nh35 generic case and hope that it would come with a spacer for vertical adjustment for the stem and if not, I would try 3d printing one. Same goes with horizontal centering spacer - I could probably print one. Thanks again.
@@raymction947 yeah that would work. Typically they’re an all in one spacer for vertical and horizontal. Best of luck!
My pro diver is off by 2 seconds a day which is pretty amazing. And it has shock absorbers on the train wheels? Wow….
Pretty sweet I thought!
The low cost workhorse SEIKO NH35 is proof
that luxury Swiss Brands are grossly overpriced.
It’s certainly a great build using inexpensive parts on purpose!
This was true when you were in Diapers!Good reveiw though!
Appreciate it!
This Invicta is Hot, Hot, Hot.
