I'm not a Rolex fan but you could easily resell a popular Rolex model for the same or more than you bought it for in future so the comparison is a bit more complicated
I agree with this comment . Most people nowadays mainly Americans such as myself go by brand and buy things like a rolex over a invicta watch which both tell time , or to impress people who dont really care about you because those who care about you dont care about how much your watch cost☮️❤️
@@healthycitizen1926 It depends: some people don't buy a watch just to tell the time (if everyone did that, mechanical watches would not exist, as they're more expensive and less accurate than quartz), they buy it because of the history behind a certain watch (for example, people willing to buy the Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch cal.321 don't just buy it for the status, but because of the watch's historical significance as a reissue of the first watch on the moon) or because of the timepiece's durability compared to others (which is why Casio G-Shock is such a popular brand when it comes to rugged and resistant watches, as they built their entire brand identity around this niche). Buying a watch to impress your peers is wrong (unless you yourself also really like the watch) as it's guaranteed you'll eventually grow dissatisfied of it. You should buy a watch for yourself and yourself only (unless it's a gift for someone else).
When I bought my Invicta I didn't even know about potential comparisons to Rolex. I just wanted *a Quality watch. *Hey, it's an Automatic! My last automatic was a gift that lasted over 25 years! *Waterproof *Looks great for special occasions or when I'm singing in concerts *You can't beat all this for $51.99!! Who needs to spend $10,000 on a luxury timepiece
@@robillingworth8503 plus you don’t have to worry about being robbed and killed over a $10,000 watch. Idk I can’t see the value of any watch being $300. Especially since society is falling apart
Prob pay too much but I mean there is no comparison 😂. You pay for the quality and reliability plus the name. And hey if you don’t care and just want to get the look go for it. I have a Rolex and a timex. I wear the timex every day.
Another old guy here (62). I bought an Invicta Pro Diver precisely because it looks so much like the Rolex Submariner worn by my favorite actor Steve McQueen, but I can’t justify spending 8000 bucks on a wristwatch. If anyone asks me if my watch is a Rolex I’ll just tell them no it’s not, and I’m not Steve McQueen. Love my Invicta and enjoyed your video.
Makes you wonder, other than the luxury name, why exactly is the submariner exactly 1000% more expensive with minor “sharpness” and “smoothness” details. Oh and he forgot to mention you have to service the submariner, and you could buy a 100 of the invictas.. not saying it’s as good but dude, GTFO with the nitpicking
I've owned both and still own the submariner. Bottom line is, the gap of saving for years and to aquire one is only gonna set you a couple of seconds closer every month between the two. A watch is a watch and any of these will tell the time accurately. And you dont need a fancy bling to live the present time no matter what the metal chunk on your wrist says. The money you invested in them is for yourself only and shouldn't temper on your current happiness or the ability to enjoy life altogether. Things don't need to be unreachable to be enjoyable
Absolutly true. Besides, nowadays.. I'd rather wear the invicta on the streets than risking being attacked or even killed because of wearing the Rolex.
I own 3 Rolex brand watches,Submariner,Daytona and a Date just. Compared to my Invicta Bolt and Grand Octane. Aside from the price difference they are both good brands. You get what you pay for.
My Rolex was stolen at knifepoint Sept 2000. I bought my Invicta (shown above) a month after. It's been 21 yrs and it's a fantastic watch. Had I known about Invicta, I would've never bothered with my Rolex!!! Live and learn !!! Have a great day!!
@@DirtHero75 if you want to keep it for a lifetime you would be good with once every decade. After 10 years it should be serviced. - you could buy a new one as well, but I prefer keeping the things I have rather than replacing and throwing away
The main difference between the two watches is that the invicta can be used without constantly fearing to scratch it or be robbed...The Rolexes (in most cases) are destined to pass their life closed in a safe.
Well, actually you have a good point here. Because where can you even wear a Rolex nowadays? I mean, cities like Johannesburg, Sao Paulo, London, NYC: good luck when you're walking over there with a watch that has the price of a luxury car. I live in the Netherlands. Two months ago a footballer (Zahavi) and his wife were robbed here because his wife showed off her Rolex at Instagram. That's reality. Very sad but also very true.
@@kngkrmson2179 I’m from San Francisco, literally there are like three buildings in the FiDi that I’d feel safe in wearing a submariner. Outside I’d be in fear that I’d get murdered then robbed for it. Dark times dude.
@@billysinge8977 if youre afraid of literally being murdered just so they could grab your watch, rather than like "give me your watch or ill stab you" type transaction, then you should probably not being wearing a Rolex clone...
Pro diver is my main watch for 5 years. I never took it off my wrist on my daily basis. I have been diving, snorkeling swimming and everything without worrying. The mineral glass and the metals are extremely well built. Seiko NH35 movement also is very reliable.
Owned my Invicta for a few years. It keeps incredible time. The best of many many other automatics I own. Built like a tank and seems difficult to scratch. I have tried ☺️ I would recommend this watch.
@@fgarciz This watch (8926OB) is one of the easiest to drop a 15 dollar sapphire crystal into. I have done it multiple times. (also the 7043, for an nh36 movement). Both keep to within 5 seconds a day, the nh35 being a little better.
the question is: is the Submariner 80 times better than the Invicta? probably not. Rolex is the better watch, better history, pedigree, status, movement, quality, finish, etc. If money is no issue, then, by all means, the Rolex is the way to go, it's the original one after all. If you can't pay 8 thousand dollars but want the look, I don't see why you wouldn't spend 100 bucks on it. It's pretty good for the money.
Plenty of other good value options to the Invicta Pro-Diver; Steinart, San Martin, Parnis, Pagani, Loreo etc. There is one youtuber (I Like Watches) who is comparing 10 Rolex Submariner homages in a multi-series head to head - including the Invicta Pro-diver.
Is invicta 8x the watch of $10 casio? Probably not either so what’s the point? No Rolex owners buy their watches to compare it to that of invicta nor Patek
@@GSTRification The point is if you're spending $8000 on a watch you should be getting a far superior product to an $80 one. That price difference should be justifiable. Comparing how many times more a product costs is a nonsensical comparison and basically a strawman. The actual price difference matters. The $70 more you spend on the Invicta vs a $10 Casio is immediately apparent to be far more justifiable vs the $7900 price difference in the Invicta vs Rolex. One price difference is the cost of a dinner out the other price difference is more than twice the average US monthly salary.
Here’s the thing: the Invicta Pro Diver offers the best bang for the buck - period! You get a 200 meter diver with applied indices, screw down crown, screw down case back, a NH35 automatic movement from Seiko that can be regulated to within COSC specifications, meaning +- 2 seconds a day, a solid bracelet with solid end links and if you go for the blue dial you’ll also get one of the most amazing sunburst dials of all time, that goes from almost black over a deep to a medium blue all the way to purple depending on the light source and if you want you can have the watch either in two-tone or solid 18K gold plating and all that for less than a hundred bucks! It’s a no brainer!
If you hold both of them with closed eyes you won't know which is which if not for the etching and glass caseback. My point is that the Invicta doesn't feel like a £100 watch, more like a 3k :)
@@bth2278 I see that you don't understand my comment but that's ok :) it will never be a Rolex, that's more than obvious. It's just a watch that looks and feels more expensive than it actually is.
Been wearing my pro diver since 2000. Never serviced. It will never die. Even the gold tone has not worn off. Keeps perfect time. Mine has the miyota/citizen mvmt
After the oils dry up and start attracting dust, you're gonna wish you took that watch in for an occasional preventative maintenance! Totally ignoring ANY mechanical machine is just irresponsible ownership!
Just replase the movement when it dries off. Will be cheaper than getting it serviced and you can do it yourself with a bit of preparation and research. This is why I like the seiko NH-line in cheapos because it's so ubiquitous
@@jgatkinson744 .... Given the fact that my Sub is 27 years old and still looks and works like new, even though it has been on my arm all that time, I would say that there actually IS more to a ROLEX than just the name.
I’m a watch guy and for that Rolex to be 30 years old it’s still beautiful. But for that invicta to be just under a 100 and it comes close or even better on some aspects it’s something to purchase. For someone who would never spend $8k or $32k for a watch, this invicta is something to buy without a thought. But it’s the name that people will pick one over the other
Thing is, you can buy a Rolex and other than the service, you can wear it for free. With the Daytona, get paid for owning it. The wealthy are buying some Rolexes as investments, also driving up the price.
I have the Swiss movement version and changed a few things.. changed the bezel to a high quality ceramic bezel, added a sapphire crystal and changed the bracelet to a full stainless steel with no polish. I love it, it looks great, runs great and it has taken a few bad hits and still 0 scratches, i use it almost every day
You could have avoided all that by simply buying the Steeldive version of this Rolex and you would be set. I will never buy this Invicta watch until it gets a sapphire crystal and a milled locking clasp instead of the cheap looking stamped clasp it currently comes with. Steeldive did not cut corners like Invicta and more and more people are starting to buy that watch.
@@Fausto_Fauquer i like to wear things nobody has, with the 4 changes i made to the watch it feels different and special, i also prefer 40mm case than 41mm and swiss movement over japan movement
I'm ok walking around with a $100 watch on my wrist. Not that brave to have 10K strapped to my wrist. Buy both - wear the Invicta & lock the Rolex in a safe.
I’ve got a grand diver. Had it for about 6yrs. It’s been sitting on a winder since the clock change and is currently sitting at just less than a minute fast after More than a month. It’s almost the cheapest watch I own and one of the most reliable and accurate. It needs a new bezel insert but that’s it!
Bought an older model of this Pro Diver 7 years ago and it still works fine. Perfect beater watch that looks good and you don't start freaking out if someone brushes up against you.
A very fair comparison indeed. Maybe it would be fun to give both watches to a none watch person to review them, then tell them how much each one is worth :)
@David Topchiev Yup, i don't know what all the fuss about Rolex is to be honest, the watch market is flooded with cheaper and arguably better alternatives, as a buyer that is...watch flippers love them for obvious reasons. You can't deny Rolex are on another level when it comes to marketing. They probably could sell sand to Arabs and Ice to Eskimos
@David Topchiev, if the product you mention is so over rated, then why are there so many different companies essentially making the same watch with in some cases nearly identical styling. As for the price, this is what the market will bear. They are still flying off the assembly line and are rarely in stock so that means someone is buying them and they are still in demand. Terms like better are subjective and so far none of the other "homages" use a different or "superior" steel and the movements in these "homages" usually use a Seiko movement not one they either own or made themselves. Please understand, I'm not a Fanboy of either company, just pointing out the differences between the two products being compared.
Loved the review. Admittedly, I don't own a Rolex and have never handled one in real life. However, I do own four Invictas, including two dive model automatics. All of my Invictas look great and have been super reliable. You simply cannot beat Invicta's quality for the money. As another commenter stated, they really are built like tanks. I have a 200M and a 300M for the dive watches. I certainly didn't buy them for the Rolex look. I bought them because they were Invicta!
It is a lot to do with quality versus looks and price .if you want a woman who's out for your money the get the Rolex If you want a daily wear nice watch.dont waste your money on a Rolex and have it calibrated and cleaned every couple years. That's just my opinion
Honestly, I prefer the look of the Invicta over the Rolex. I know it's older but the Rolex just looks dated. The Invicta is more modern looking to me. The Rolex logo and an extra couple gaskets aren't worth anywhere near an almost $8k difference in my opinion. Invicta all day. You can buy 80+ Invictas for the same money and never once get caught wearing the same piece in public twice. An overwhelming majority wouldn't even be able to distinguish between the two if the logos were removed, which probably doesn't sit well with people who dump the equivalent of a used car's worth on a wrist timepiece. This isn't the 19th or 20th century anymore, watches should not cost more than $500 unless it's a legitimate antique or collector's item.
To be completely fair a junk used car the price of a rolex would eventually be worth so little you’d be paying more to keep it running or to get rid of it than it costs while a roley will more often than not appreciate in value And since Rolex’s ARE collectors items, that’s their high price tag, which you mention as well
Bought an Invicta Pro Diver Quartz for my brother. He uses it for work, got smashes several times, still ticks and still look decent. He loves how it looks good, feels solid but it’s totally easy to replace should it ever brake. Great content as always!
To me, never mind the Rolex, I'm saving up for the Invicta Pro Diver. I couldn't care less if it's a homage watch. I just like the look, the decent quality build and it'll fall within my budget. Thanks for the comparison video.
Most people have families to feed, or a job to maintain. They don't want to spend $10K for a dive watch that they won't use for diving. Wise men buy cheap!
My invicta pro diver has survived 3 years, 6 different countries, snow, water and accidents. Honestly, whatever the criticism might be about it, its built to last and it certainly doesn't break the bank👏🏼
Lmao people love to hate Invicta because of their loud and gaudy watches, so when they actually drop something excellent, it just blows people's minds 🤣
I have this Pro Diver and I love it. I also love Japanese watches like Seiko, Citizen, Orient, Casio, etc. that are between $150 - $700 and many are of a super quality, the movement, design and materials on these watches are of great quality. But I think is ridiculous to even think than a $100 watch can be compared to a $10k one.
@@taz24787some of that is in designing and marketing. But ofc the real price of rmanufacturering is never getting close to the sticker price. Invicta just put a logo on a copy. So they have way less overhead. Youre paying for originiality etc. Same as any other Luxury good
Lol! I got mine too! Amazon deal of the day. I also ordered the two tone Blk/Gold because I like the watch. However my silver/black has a hard/sticky bezel. The two tone is flawless.
I have had an Invicta for 3 months. Using a seconds per day checker, and recording everyday,it is .3 seconds per day average. Worn. This is fantastic in any watch. Pressure tested when new and passed 200 meters. I am going to pressure check it soon again. Yes the lens scratches. Not the watches fault. Mine. For 80.00 it sets the new standard for me at least.
I'm probably going to get one to but I don't know wich size to get so what is your wrist size. Wich size did you get. Do you recommend getting a 37mm or a 40mm?
This 29182 model (different variant, same design) as this watch is what got me started on auto watches. Honestly, can't go wrong considering value for money.
I've had two other Pro Divers and recently bought another. I don't like most Invicta models but Pro Divers are a good value for money. Spot on about branding.
I agree, but then again I like Danish design, i.e. watches with a specific look but without too much going on when looking at it. The Pro Diver that I bought is **very** overstated. And IMHO the stainless steel + black is boring as hell, so I bought a blue with gold detailed one. I'll probably regret that :)
100% recommend putting a nato strap on the Invicta, makes for a great casual watch. Much more comfortable than the metal bracelet it comes with too, I couldn't get mine to fit perfectly.
Have had my Invicta Pro Diver for a bit over a year and has worn it daily. It has went through hell, banged up, scratched and chipped but it still runs strong with its battle scars. I've actually cracked the edge of the crystal and was a bit concerned about its water resistance but it seems to hold pretty well still.
As someone looking at saving over a period of years to get a Sub, wearing a Pro Diver to see how the dimensions of the watch would hold up in day to day use would be very useful. That said the Invicta looks like a very good watch in it's price range.
@@max420thc Thanks for the info, I actually went with the Steel Dive instead, too much Invicta branding compared to the steel dive and the lume was way better for not much more.
A very honest opinion about both watches. The Invicta is an homage of the Rolex sub so there's no basis for comparison. However, if you can't afford the original sub, then Invicta is your sure bet. I've got one myself From Amazon.
The Invicta is an absolute tank with a Seiko movement - for under a hundred bucks. I am an ER nurse and wear this watch regularly on the job. It's been covered in bodily fluids, hit by oxygen tanks, smacked on the walls and the floor taking down psychotic patients, etc. Is it a Rolex, no. Is it worth a hundred dollars, hell yes! In my opinion, it's the best value dollar for dollar in the watch market bar none.
I love these comparisons between an $8,000 Rolex and an $80 Invicta. You will notice right away that the Rolex has a smoother crown and there is a gasket. Yep, that's worth about $1,000 right there isn't it.
Most of the money is really in _manual_ labour rather than materials (although the materials they use, along with certain patented technology, would be better too). Most of the Invicta parts were made or assembled by machine, where as most of the Rolex's parts were crafted or detailed by a (highly skilled) human being. If people didn't value that - and the associacion of Rolex branding - no sane person would EVER buy a Submariner while the Pro Diver exists.
Comparing a $100. Invicta to a $10.k Rolex is absurd on it's face. I've been wearing Invicta Pro Divers for over 20 years. They are excellent watches that keep perfect time, and look 98% identicle to a Rolex Submariner. Here's the real difference between them, I paid under $100. for a great watch that keeps perfect time, and put the other $9,900. towards my brand new $15k Indian Chief Vintage Motorcycle. Now I can go fast, and still tell time on a watch that people still mistake for a Rolex :)
You don't have to be an Invicta "fan boy" to like the 8926. I own one and love it, but I don't really care for most of their watches. Most people can't spend 8 grand on a Rolex.
I could spend $8k on a watch, but the reason to do so is completely lost on me. Each to their own, I'd rather have a watch that tells the time and buy another motorcycle for my collection with the change.
@@MeTaLISaWeSoMe95 Well I worked hard for every penny, so what is your point? I'm far from rich by most people's standards, but a lot cleverer in how I spend my money and what I pay for the things I do buy.
So I can have an “extra” 100 m wr and 9 extra hours and a huge servicing commitment or I can have a watch which I can cheaply replace if I need to AND a car🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@ryanoliver5669 well 8K is definitely a good down payment on a mid range car. I mean that’s a smidge under half for a brand new Honda Accord or a new Camry. The car itself doesn’t have to cost that much.
To me it seems like the Invicta Pro Diver is a great value. I do not think you can beat this watch as a value. Comparing this watch to a Rolex is indeed a testimony to the value. I wear it as an every day do anything type watch. TY MH
I don't know if it's true, but I've read that the reason they put it on there had to do with Rolex's lawyers. I think it looks nice. I bought a Pro Diver in January, and I love it, including the flying wing counterbalance. I've wanted a Subbie since I was a kid, and last December, on my birthday, I realized I was never going to live long enough to afford one. I would prefer a Rolex to the Invicta, except for the fact that a Pro Diver costs about 1/150th that of a new Submariner, which was a factor in my decision. And of course there's a waiting list for Subbies. That too. BTW, Seiko movement keeping pretty good time for the money. Last set it 28 days ago today and it is 2:14 slow right now. 90 bucks is hard to beat. I'm not really a "collector" more of a penniless spectator, but if I ever do start collecting, it will be epic CHEAP watches. That Starking is an excellent example. Also, I have a 38mm Timex Navi-Harbor--man, I LOVE that thing! Maybe I'm more of a contrarian than a collector;>)
I have a invicta pro diver in blue and quite honestly for the money its not a bad watch. I do have other more expensive watches but really enjoy the pro diver. Almost as much as I enjoy the time teller videos. I have even gotten watches because of your videos. Keep up the great work Jory.
Great review. As far as a watch not “feeling” the same, I own dozens of watches expensive and inexpensive, after I wear any of them for a few minutes I barely feel anything. The bottom line for me is do I like the look of the watch, does it look good on my wrist, and most importantly is it precise and accurate, AND a good value? In my experience, Rolexes become highly inaccurate, every one of them I’ve experienced. They need to be serviced often at great cost and for a $6000-$36,000 price point they should at least not lose 2 minutes per day! You are paying for the Swiss Rolex name but seriously, even my 50 year old cheap-ass Timex indiglo still keeps perfect time! A better Swiss value is my Swiss Oris Big Crown Pointer date 80th anniversary bronze case leather strap watch, $1500! Oris was making fine watches before Rolex and this watch has always kept perfect time, unique, and in my humble opinion at least 777 times better than the submariner, oh yeah, and “FEELS” much much better! Ha ha! Again, great review, I like the solid gold submariner much better but again $36,000, worth it?, between the two you reviewed, very, very minor things with the Invicta, get it instead of the Rolex. I agree with you about the over branding in watches as well, but the swirling wings on the second is t that big of a deal since I wouldn’t be staring at that so much while wearing the time piece. I also own the Seiko Presage in brown, love it too but yeah, did they need to write presage on it, not that big of a deal, bigger to me is that it loses about 4 seconds a day! I need to remove the back and re-adjust the regulation. Thanks again for the review, Sir. I think for Invicta, the Invicta Men's I-Force 44mm Stainless Steel and 18k Gold Ion-Plated and Brown/Black Leather Watch (Model: 12823, 15255, 21393) is much better feeling and much better to look at and it is only $52 on Line.
Really enjoyed watching this review. Would love to own a sub at some point. I currently own the Invicta Pro, I also own Ginault Ocean Rover, both of these models get the most hate on forums. For me that's fine, I enjoy them for what they are....affordable alternatives.
Thank you for this in-depth review! I got some Invicta, actually I own this very model. I've never worn it. It is sitting inside its original package... After your disamina, I will take my Invicta pro-dive out for a walk. At the moment I'm really inlove with my Glycine combat sub (pre invicta, just to say). I've bought it second hand, but it opened my heart from the first moment I wore it. I own many watches, including Swiss, Russian but mostly Japanese ones, few Chinese ones. I hope one day to save enough to allow myself to buy a Breitling Chromomat or maybe a Tudor Black Bay, these are my goals. The Rolex are far more expensive for my wallet. Hope everyone is good! Cheers to everyone!
Jory; I'm actually going to say that this was a decent review. First and foremost I'm a Seiko fan but, I also am an Invicta fan. I have several comments but nothing belligerent. So that you get the model number correct I'm using lower case. The Invicta is model is 8926ob. I like the wing on the second ✋ and like you not a fan of the wing below the 12. I have owned this model and have given it as a gift to friends and family. I've owned 9 variations of the "Seiko" movement Pro Divers and never had issues with any of them. The name etched on the side doesn't bother me. Even an "I" in the Invicta font would have sufficed or even using one of their two logo's. Less is more? What about the lengthy 4-line novel above the 6 on the Submariner? How many watches
I have a 23 cm wrist...and the top of my wrist can hand a little over 72mm from lug to lug. Maybe the new Shaquille O'Neal watches by Invicta will have a watch that size!!! 😂😂😂
I've worn Invicta for years and this is a very fair review. The whole point of the Pro Divers is that it looks and almost feels like a Rolex, but it isn't. As such it's an attractive and affordable watch for people who don't have dinner guests to impress at their Napa Valley wine club, or don't need that extra 100m of diving depth lol "I'm not arguing the Invicta is a bad watch, I'm arguing it doesn't feel the same as the Rolex." For a 7-8 thousand price difference it shouldn't, and I don't expect it to.
The basic blueprint for a dive watch makes it a great product. Invicta doesn't skimp much on any part of their design, hence, it has become a perennial best-sellet!
Bang for the buck, I LOVE the pro diver. I got the blue one for Father's day for $72 and its beautiful. At 100x less cost than a Rolex, I wear it to my job where it could easily get broken and I'm not worried. And, I LOVE an exhibition caseback. All mechanical movements I love to see. It has gained about 7 seconds in a month with just regular daily wear. So, for my purposes, and for a first automatic watch, it works great. I'm not trying to impress anyone else. If I did want to, I'd wear my '67 Seamaster chrono.
I recently bought the Invicta pro diver and people mistake it it for the rolex constantly and believe it or not they believe the invicta logo has to do with aviation but the watch for some reason just commands attention and the way it resembles the Rolex without paying thousands of dollars i get compliments hey young man awesome or beautiful watch i always say thank you in return i get compliments everywhere
Yeah. Invicta Pro Diver sports the time tested, well respected Seiko Nh35A movement. It’s a good movement that is found in Seiko’s that cost more than twice what the pro diver costs. If you’re fine with homage watches, the Invicta is a good watch.
It's very common for homage watches to have deeper chapter rings that taper down to a smaller dial. The crystal also tends to be more set back into the case. Not sure why they do that.
You know you are richer than kings of past (and present), when your wristwatch costs approximately the average annual household income worldwide. The fact of such vehement arguing for details in comparison to a watch costing about 100 TIMES the price difference, already establishes the point.
I love the look of the Rolex, but I would never spend more than 3 figures on a watch. The Invicta is a much more reasonable alternative. Yes, it's derivative, but imitation is the sincerest form of flattery
I am 53 years old, I graduated in 1987- my junior year my dad was going to buy a rolex from a dealer he knew he asked me if I would like to get a submariner. He said yes it's costly but it's a good watch- stainless steel it would cost me $750 now mind you now now a stainless steel sub mariner is running $17,000 that is absolutely ridiculous it is the same watch it was 30 years ago! Because it's limited in production and it's popular people are paying astronomical amounts for them above retail... far above retail! I personally have a Breitling Super Avenger with a factory diamond dial... it's my dress watch 48mm. I don't like rolex because I am a bigger guy and at 40mm it's small in my opinion and overnflated in cost. I.E. a Rolex Daytona can cost you 40k plus. Rolex is just a name- it is a good watch and as people have mentioned it does go up in value because people are dumb enough to pay the escalated prices which drives the market. I personally have about a dozen invicta watches between my wife and myself. The nice thing- the invicta watches that I wear I'm not afraid of scratching them, I wear them anywhere because I didn't have to pay $10K like I did for my Breitling! If you can afford one go for it... BUT KNOW THIS- there are so many swiss made fake rolex watches half the people will think it's fake anyway! FACT!
The Time Teller I get that. Tritium is great! But Tritium doesn’t automatically exclude applied markers 😊 I owned the Ball Hydrocarbon AeroGMT II and I loved the applied Tritium-markers 😉
Just purchased my first Invicta pro diver 8927OB 2tone. Purely bought for looks and to start on the watch collecting ladder. Thus far reasonably impressed with it. Price great, quality I’m thinking great, the fact it’s a less than £100 watch and comes with a 3yr warranty, honestly who could go wrong.
Fair review, I thought. Thanks for making all of these entertaining videos. My two-cents is there is a place for Invicta and there is a place for Rolex. I appreciate that Invicta makes this watch, even though I know it's blatantly unfair as an imitation design and many of Invicta's diverse original designs have a tendency to be... a bit 'out there.' I own the Invicta and will probably never own that Rolex Submariner. 3 general things I have come to notice and/or appreciate about Invicta: 1) They make watches on a large-scale with very high economies of scale to bring down costs. The market for people who won't pay more than $100 for a watch is huge. They are managing to produce good watches with such limitations. The watches they are producing for these masses are pretty good for them. They're water-proof and they can be banged around a little bit and if something happens, they're ultimately at a price point they're replaceable. 2) Cheap watches help us find our style before shelling out a ton of money. I know some argue this as a waste, but I appreciated those early years when my budget was tight that I could start my collection and try many things. It was through this I learned what I liked and what I didn't before I spent more money. These watches, and many others, are like a gateway drug. I developed my personal taste in watches over many years. Present-me does not see things the same way as Past-me. This Invicta allows me to not experience the prestige, attention to detail, or as solid construction of the Rolex. However, it does allow me to come close to experiencing the general style and that is something I appreciate and I'm glad to have in my varied collection. 3) Less of an appreciation and more of a criticism. You still get what you pay for. What gets cheaper with mass production, comes at a loss of quality and quality control. The luxury brands are created with heavy marketing, but that also means they protect that marketing by trying to create perfection. You can't sell something $5,000+ and have it break easily or not ensure that all watches you produce carry the same quality and be able to maintain the value of that brand. I have owned 3 Invicta watches. This version of the diver watch I own had the rotating bezel break within 2 weeks of owning it without heavy usage, improper usage, or being knocked around at all. I suspect the ratcheting part inside was creating too friction and bent itself out of place. Another watch was not an imitation, but a self-designed army style. It was actually a decent built watch in terms of how solid the construction was, but it has some major errors in the attention to detail of the design that I didn't notice until I bought it and wore it. Problems: 1) the hour and minute hands were black with a large lume design in the center. The dial was black. The design of the Lume on both hands was about the same size. I couldn't tell time at a glance. I had to look more carefully for the end of the black hands. 2) It had a rotating sub-dial that pointed to the day of the week. They used a push-button to rotate it. The watch was not a chronograph, but wanted it to have the appearance of one. They problem is it was way too easy to bump that button. The movement broke and is no longer functional, but the earliest problem was this subdial broke and soon after the hour hand wouldn't move either. I believe the button for the subdial was activated during times that could damage the movement if it was adjusted. The movements are often budget range movements from reputable companies As a buyer... lessons learned, however I expect these types of issues to not come up if someone is designing and developing them with a critical eye. Still, I've enjoyed my Invicta Diver with the now non-rotating bezel. When I buy my first multi-thousand dollar diver, I will probably get a Omega Seasmaster. I still appreciated the Invicta's and other cheap brands of the world that allowed me to try different styles over time and allowed me to learn my personal interests in style to help in making those decisions. For now my main diver is still a far more budget friendly Bulova Oceanographer. I like the throwback to the past, I appreciate designs that come from a heritage of American crasftmanship, and I appreciate that it is a watch fewer people wear and allows me to be more unique. I fully agree with you about the depth of the casing to the dial. I noticed this wearing the Invicta diver. That was my biggest criticism of the Invicta diver personally. They do make the finish of it look better or more interesting, if it is left that large. Beyond the size of that metal wall, It looks cheaply brushed. Thanks for all of the interesting videos!
The Invicta watches are surprisingly good quality and value for the money. I have had a few people compliment me on my "Rolex" and had to tell them it was actually an Invicta. The metal bracelets are heavy on the Invicta watches so I swap out the bracelet for a silicone strap. I love my Invicta and it gets plenty of wrist time even though I own much more expensive pieces.
21:07 Jory: So, this isn't going to glow at all. Me, a pro diver owner: Neither is the Invicta, buddy! Trololol. The pro diver is always going to be a special watch for me. It's what got me into this hobby. I bought it on happenstance, not even knowing what an automatic watch was. While it has that emotional value for me, let's be real, ya gets what ya pays for.
I'm an avid Invicta collector, almost exclusively Automatic ProDiver's. I have close to 30 and i am extremely happy with every one of them. If I ever have an extra $10,000 that is just really pissing me off and i can't figure out what to soend it on, maybe I'll but a Rolex. Im a man with common sense though, so for now I'm more than content with ALL of my Invicta's. @Invicta I'd love the opportunity to buy a new model before its released to the public. @Rolex Change my mind..
@David Topchiev they are .... most"luxury brands are because they know the value of their goods is based largely upon snob appeal - without it Rolex Submariner would be about a $300- 500 watch
Great review. I have a 1675 GMT with a 93150 sub bracelet and a few Invicta Pro Divers. The Invictas are good for scuba diving (in case it gets lost) and when I am nervous about theft (traveling, etc.). That said, my Rolex exudes quality & longevity; my son will inherit it and I hope cherish it. The Invictas, although essentially Rolex copies fulfill a different purpose.
I now own 2 Rolex Datejusts. I’m on a waitlist for a Bluesy Sub and keep getting pushed back in line for more preferential clients. I love Rolex but hate their policies. If Rolex were a person, they would be telling me “tell me what you want, you can’t have it.” If Invicta were a person, they’d be saying “ what color would you like?” I have both and know that Invicta is not even on the same planet as Rolex. However, Invicta actually wants my business and is attainable. There’s something to be said for that!
Well, I can ask for a genuine Swiss chronometer on my wrist. I don't care about the certificate, but I like knowing the watch will still be dead-nuts accurate 30 years from now!
comparing the two is like comparing a fossil with a grand seiko, its not really a fair comparison, but considering the price of the invicta pro diver, it is an amazing watch
Great review! New-ish Invicta Pro Diver owner here. I picked up a full-titanium version. Not the current Pro Diver 0420 with a girth of 45mm case. Mine is the Pro Diver 4790, which is literally the 8926 size-wise in full titanium. Wonderfully light, utilizes ye olde Miyota 8215, a solid timekeeper and insanely difficult to find. Sure, I could go for Tudor’s Pelagos in titanium, which are plentiful and beautiful. But the rarity of the Invicta 4790 (and the price tag) is too hard to not enjoy & scratch that Subby itch.
I watched this with great interest as I have both watches. This video turned me into a subscriber, so, well done!. Yes, the submariner does have a more refined feel to it all around (of course, it does!!!). But none of the annoying issues you found with the Invicta come close to justifying that enormous price difference. Funny thing, I have owned both watches for a number of years and I find that the Invicta, with its less sophisticated movement, to be the more accurate time keeper. One last thing, Those two details which you find annoying, the wings on the tail end of the second hand and the engraved "INVICTA" on the side, I'll bet that both were done to avoid trademark legalities.
I don’t get the premise of this review? Your comparing a $100 watch to 8k Rolex and then highlighting differences???? It would of been better just to do a review on the on the invictica on its own.
I recently picked up one of these on Amazon during a Black Friday sale for $30. I was just looking for an inexpensive analog watch that was all metal. I'm not even close to being a watch aficionado and I had no clue that this was a Rolex look-alike. I feel I definitely got something worth more than I paid for and have no complaints at all. It does exactly what I need it to do - it sits on my wrist, looks good, and keeps decent time.
I have the same series Submariner but in gold and steel. Received it as an employee bonus back in 1988 or so. I selected it personally as I had always loved the look of that watch, plus I was a James Bond fan since the age of 10. I wore that watch 24/7 until about a year ago when I sent it in to be refurbished. The tritium was flaking off the dial, I had chipped a small piece off the edge of the crystal, the arms were experiencing some sort of degradation and I really wanted to be able to tell time in the dark without having to find my phone. The cost of the upgrades were half the price of the watch, but it is now like new except that the luminescence is only on the arms and bezel pearl, and not the hour markers. Some would say that I ruined the patina of the original, but I use this watch as a tool and not as an investment. I wore this watch while surfing, rock climbing, mountain biking, diving, skiing and everything else. Great watch and not one for the penny-pinchers, but it is worth triple what it cost brand new. The watch this replaced was a Seiko and I loved that one as well. I agree with the opinions stated in this review. I also think that for the price, the Invicta is a total bargain since most people don't care anyway. Wear what makes you happy, even if it's just counting the money you saved. I saved over $100k by not buying the Porsche GT-3 I covet. LOL.
I was very hesitant on buying the invicta, I have bulova's, omega's & grand seiko's. I want a Rolex, however my grand seiko imo is a better watch then a Rolex. But, it isn't a Rolex! -Invicta, I use as a work watch. If I scratch it, I don't worry about it. It's definitely a nice watch for the price, I get a lot of positive comments on it from customers. It is definitely an eye catcher for people who know watches! I like it!
Invicta it for the people who like the LOOK of the Rolex Sub, if you want all what you describe (feel, sharpness) then buy a Rolex. Good video keep ‘em coming.
One thing that caught my eye was there is more printed info on the Rolex dial compared to Invicta dial. A detail I did like is how the hour and date window are outlined and pop more. I can't help wonder what the current Rolex compares to the Invicta. But I do appreciate your caparison between the two. Clearly the price tag is the most outstanding difference between them. For $8200. I could buy a good used car or truck and a box of Cuban cigars. Hands down Rolex is the standard for some watch people but addressing the collectors, Invicta makes it affordable to build a collection that has a huge variation of models. Now weather that's a good thing or not it is up to the collector to decide. Thanks for sharing the comparison. 👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸
I own an Invicta pro diver…it works…well…no issues…I like he Rolex look…I don’t have Rolex $$…not sure I’d spend it on a watch if I did…good video that actually inhances my opinion of the Invicta.
I have the invicta Love it Great looking watch , great quality, great price Not a sub but when I'm wealthy I'll buy a sub Don't over reach live with in your means
Invicta is amazing at that price point (I own a Pro Diver myself) One thing I didn't like was that everyone thought it was a Rolex. The design screams "ROLEX" that much, people gonna ask you if it is one. Then you gotta tell them that it's an homage which is kind of a downer in that situation to be honest. Experienced this several times and it kinda killed the fun of wearing the watch for me.
Blanco there is another way of dealing with the situation. If anyone asks you if it’s a Rolex, just say no, it’s an Invicta and do not say anything about it being a homage watch. They might think that it looks like a Rolex, but that’s it. Yes, it looks a lot like a Rolex but it’s not claiming to be one because it says “Invicta” on it and has enough non Rolex details to give it some individuality. I have a Steeldive SD1954 which looks very much like an old pre date window Rolex and I’m proud to wear it as it looks great and gains only 2 seconds a day. To me there is a big difference between a “homage” and “ replica” watch. I can understand the embarrassment of having to put your hands up to wearing a fake Rolex, but there is no shame in wearing a watch that reminds people of a Rolex. I’m not a watch expert but I’m sure that for example there might be a Seiko that looks a bit like a Rolex and there’s no shame in that so Amigo, next time you go out, wear your Invicta with pride. I have 3 Invicta Pro Divers, one of them being the 1953 and love wearing them.
Thumbs down on the Submariner. Such a total knockoff of the Invicta! Rolex, if you want to release a dive watch, have a little self-respect and come up with your own design, don't copy Invicta!

@@healthycitizen1926 Well said.

A watch is a watch and any of these will tell the time accurately. And you dont need a fancy bling to live the present time no matter what the metal chunk on your wrist says. @David Topchiev if the submariner is ugly and the prodiver is a copy, does that make the Invicta ugly and cheap??.....

It is a lot to do with quality versus looks and price .if you want a woman who's out for your money the get the Rolex
If you want a daily wear nice watch.dont waste your money on a Rolex and have it calibrated and cleaned every couple years. That's just my opinion
That pro diver looks mighty fine. Good affordable watch.
Hello, you can buy the Invicta Pro Diver watch here! Free Shipping amzn.to/2XrYVqd
Its a great watch I own one
it's a fantastic watch for the price. an actual diver watch you can comfortably take diving.
To be completely fair a junk used car the price of a rolex would eventually be worth so little you’d be paying more to keep it running or to get rid of it than it costs while a roley will more often than not appreciate in value
And since Rolex’s ARE collectors items, that’s their high price tag, which you mention as well
Best comment
Wtf are you talking about there's not a lot of difference
Bought an Invicta Pro Diver Quartz for my brother.
He uses it for work, got smashes several times, still ticks and still look decent.
He loves how it looks good, feels solid but it’s totally easy to replace should it ever brake.
Great content as always!
To me, never mind the Rolex, I'm saving up for the Invicta Pro Diver. I couldn't care less if it's a homage watch. I just like the look, the decent quality build and it'll fall within my budget. Thanks for the comparison video.
If you have to save up for an Invicta and you are over 16 years old. You got problems. And probably shouldn’t be buying a watch.

I have an auto and a quartz. Love both of them
Lmao people love to hate Invicta because of their loud and gaudy watches, so when they actually drop something excellent, it just blows people's minds 🤣
I’m buying one just for the hell of it.
The ridiculous thing is that he compared them, and was not able to find a truly significant difference.
And by far not a 8100% value difference.
@@taz24787some of that is in designing and marketing. But ofc the real price of rmanufacturering is never getting close to the sticker price. Invicta just put a logo on a copy. So they have way less overhead. Youre paying for originiality etc. Same as any other Luxury good

You can put in a new sapphire crystal for under $20, and it will never scratch again. Done it twice. These are terrific values.
I'm 14 and I like watches but I'm starting off with this Invicta as my gateway watch into collecting,is it a good start?

Absolutely!
This 29182 model (different variant, same design) as this watch is what got me started on auto watches. Honestly, can't go wrong considering value for money.
I've had two other Pro Divers and recently bought another. I don't like most Invicta models but Pro Divers are a good value for money. Spot on about branding.
I like the branding it's cool
It is. Just make sure you get Japanese is Swiss made movements and your golden

I purchased the Invicta because I’m on the waitlist with my AD and keep getting pushed back in line.
I love my Invicta Pro Diver Mickey Mouse edition.
I will never compare it to a Rolex, for me, these are two completely different watches
I love my Spongebob limited edition too 💚💛💙
“Whoooooo”
“Who lives in a pineapple under the sea?!!”
I love these comparisons between an $8,000 Rolex and an $80 Invicta. You will notice right away that the Rolex has a smoother crown and there is a gasket. Yep, that's worth about $1,000 right there isn't it.
Lol nice!!
Now you can spend the $7920 that you saved on a G-shock. But don't forget, the retail value of the invicta is $800. You got it for 90% off!
Yup .... I can buy the boat with the other $7900 bucks that I saved not buying the Rolex .....hmmmm opportunity cost me thinks !
Actually. In the thumbnail. The rolex looks like the cheaper watch.
Well why not
@@kevinmontoya7318 well why?

To me it seems like the Invicta Pro Diver is a great value. I do not think you can beat this watch as a value. Comparing this watch to a Rolex is indeed a testimony to the value. I wear it as an every day do anything type watch. TY MH
The large engraved INVICTA letters on the casing is my least favorite part of this watch, too.
If it's good enough for blancpain.

Invicta pro diver is one of my favorite if not my favorite watch. I own 30ish watches now and pro drivers get tons of wrist time.
Nothing beats the smoothness of the Seiko Spring drive second hand.
Why mention the Spring Drive of Grand Seiko? Irrelevant to this comparison, IMHO.

Exhibition caseback is one place the invicta crushes Rolex ...
So would you recommend the Invicta over the new Seiko 5 Sports?
Spandan Mehta Yes 💯
Yeah. Invicta Pro Diver sports the time tested, well respected Seiko Nh35A movement. It’s a good movement that is found in Seiko’s that cost more than twice what the pro diver costs. If you’re fine with homage watches, the Invicta is a good watch.
Spandan Mehta
As much as I dislike INVICTA, I would recommend the INVICTA over the new 5KX .
FACT!
I will never pay 8k just for the name, that's stupid 😒, is my opinion!!!

Price great, quality I’m thinking great, the fact it’s a less than £100 watch and comes with a 3yr warranty, honestly who could go wrong.
I happen to like the wings on the second hand with the little cross on the wings.
3 general things I have come to notice and/or appreciate about Invicta:
1) They make watches on a large-scale with very high economies of scale to bring down costs.
The movements are often budget range movements from reputable companies
As a buyer... lessons learned, however I expect these types of issues to not come up if someone is designing and developing them with a critical eye.
I bought an Invicta last week.....very good quality I would say
21:07 Jory: So, this isn't going to glow at all.
Me, a pro diver owner: Neither is the Invicta, buddy! Trololol.
The pro diver is always going to be a special watch for me. It's what got me into this hobby. I bought it on happenstance, not even knowing what an automatic watch was. While it has that emotional value for me, let's be real, ya gets what ya pays for.
same.
I think that's cool. If this Invicta got you into the watch game, then welcome. I just don't understand this comparison.
If I remember correctly rolex sued invicta and made them add the etching on the side and the second hand. Early prodivers didn't have those elements.
yep older models did not have it. I had a few early grand divers from the basic to the reserve edition. They got me hooked. My first fix so to speak.
Glad I subscribed. You cover all the important details and specs without sounding boring. Keep up the great work. A+
For the money it's great. Got mine for about $65 on Amazon. Good, sturdy waterproof. What more can you ask for.

I just love my Invicta, my first mechanical watch, and the one that hook me in to this hobby
Same
Check out the Invicta 1953
Ref. 31290. It's quite gorgeous - actually & honestly.
Yup, I just ordered my first invicta, the 31290. Looks like a 50’s sub.
@@bloozism me, too!!
@@jabezhane Check out Jomashop. I believe they ship world wide.
Picked one up a few weeks ago. Just ordered to leather straps for it.
@@kevinc1001 Awesome!
I put a dark brown leather NATO strap on mine last night.
She looks FABULOUS!
And who's the wiser, the one that spends $8k+ on a Rolex and worries that he'll lose it or the theft that just snagged your Invicta...
I don’t get the premise of this review? Your comparing a $100 watch to 8k Rolex and then highlighting differences????
It would of been better just to do a review on the on the invictica on its own.
I know Invicta get some bad press but They not all that bad considering the price, also it looks good too.
cnat beat a box of cuban cigars... great comment
I own an Invicta pro diver…it works…well…no issues…I like he Rolex look…I don’t have Rolex $$…not sure I’d spend it on a watch if I did…good video that actually inhances my opinion of the Invicta.
The rolex has it's logo and name on it, in fact it has more stuff there than the Invicta... But it's fine.. nice review!!
I have the invicta
Love it
Great looking watch , great quality, great price
Not a sub but when I'm wealthy I'll buy a sub
Don't over reach live with in your means
When you buy your sub, where are you going to keep it?. Have you got a big garden or own your own dock?.
Im wearing my steel and gold bluesey Pro Diver while watching this.I also have the all gold version with the black dial.Great tool watches.
@@rogerauclair1670 best reply, wearing my Invicta proudly!!!
when u wear a rolex, tell them it's a Blancpain homage.
Thumbs down on the Submariner. Such a total knockoff of the Invicta! Rolex, if you want to release a dive watch, have a little self-respect and come up with your own design, don't copy Invicta!
Rolex and invicta should partner up like the omega moon swatch.
