Invicta might pay less per n35a movement with massive ordering, so it will have more profit buffer room even with $60 the watches sells for. With that said, $60 is the best deal on the market for an automatic watches gives you hacking, quick date set, 20 bar water resistance...
Bought a black Invicta Pro Diver back in 2006 for $100. Have worn it in a swimming pool, on the beach in saltwater and everywhere in between. It’s still functioning and is one of the best and most reliable watches that I’ve ever owned. Actually better than a few of my over $500 timepieces. Still wearing it regularly, 16 years and counting.
@@ddee63x That is insane. I picked up a blue version and black version to wear and eventually gift my sons. What an great value. Wish I would have known about this watch years ago. I’ve had some absolutely garbage watches that were 2x the price.
I have 4 of these and they all run great - the NH35A movement is great - i would wear one for work as a bouncer and after numerous ''scuffles'' the pin holding the bracelet to the case had become tweaked/damaged - i was riding my motorcyle home one night and the watch fell off my wrist on to the road at 40mph , i did a U turn and picked it up and it's still running today 6 years later.
I just bought 2 Invicta watches, got both for 200 bucks. I am happy with the purchase. They look way more expensive than what they are and get many compliments. To each his own, I don't care if others think they are crap. I like them and that's all that matters.
Same here man. I just bought 6 for $350 off the Amazon Prime day. They look nice and I don’t care they are not Rolex’s. I also bought a nice watch glass case holder to show them off 👌
I've been buying/collecting Invicta watches in the Sub Mariner grouping for the last ten yrs. and love almost all of them. They all work just great and when I wore my first one to a meeting, a guy stopped me and wanted to trade several of his watches, for my "Rolex". I had no idea of the connection until that occurrence. I just liked what I saw on a site on my tv while recuperating from surgery. BTW... The only one I m
The only one I'm not too happy with is a larger size "gold" Sub Mariner. A little ostentatious for me l. Also, BTW... I've amassed a collection of about 20 different Pro Divers. And nice to find out the movements are Seiko's.
I use this watch for recreational scuba diving and it works great! I don't wear it daily, just diving, but I've had it down to130ft of depth several times and probably have 100+ dives on it total. If it stopped tomorrow I'd buy another one without any hesitation. It's a bargain!
Buy any 100 dollar watch and hands down the Invicta will be the better buy. I love Invictas and hand them out as gifts, haters will hate but dollar for dollar it's a solid buy. Great video and thanks for the tear down.
Wow...great review! I have a Rolex Submariner, but thought I'd buy this Invicta Pro Diver to wear everyday as I tend to be hard on watches and didn't want to beat up my Rolex. I have to say I am totally impressed! How in the world they can produce this watch for $75 with a great movement and looks is beyond me. Anyone thinking of this watch, all I can say is BUY IT... a good dinner will cost you what this watch sells for.
They do a upgraded version too, I have it.. the 9937ob pro-diver, it's got swiss auto Sellita SW200-1 movement, upgraded bracelet with solid links and milled clasp, a thinner depth case and upgraded crystal..@ $170 on Jomashop, a real step up from the standard but at a fantastic price, if You ever think of replacing/fixing/upgrading yours I'd definitely check it out. oh..forgot to say.. they only do them in black on black (dial/bezel).. but I bought a Ceramic 'Batman' bezel insert for a bit more kick.
Great insight into the workings of a Pro Diver! I've had mine for over twenty years and I love it to bits. It's a bit unusual in that it's got a beautiful red dial with the black bezel and I don't think they did red ones for too long. I've worn it for work and play, swam in pools and the sea with it, worn it snorkelling and scuba diving, and it's never skipped a beat, never succumbed to water ingress and it still looks like new! I'm going to say it again, I LOVE MY INVICTA PRO DIVER!
Having been randomly served up your video by TH-cam and knowing little about horology myself beyond being a consumer, I watched you disassemble the movement with all of the myriad tiny components and thought, "Well, there's no ******* way he's going to try putting that back together!". And then you did, perfectly (with one minor hiccup). Wow. An eye-opener.
I have an Invictar similar to this one. Going on 8 years now. And it's been a great watch. Not everyone has a couple of Grands to invest in a Diver watch like Rolex or Grand Seiko. Invicta has successfully married quality (mechanisms) and looks with affordability.
Excellent video. I watched from beginning to end. I was never bored. I just received an Invicta pro diver from Amazon. I had ordered a Orient searay2 and it arrived in a nice box.Looked fantastic but mine wouldn't run. I tried to make it work cause I wanted to keep it. But it wouldn't run and I sent it back to Amazon. Instead of refunding my money, they put the balance on a gift card. I ended up buying said Invicta. Honestly, I was pleasantly surprised. It came package at least as nice as my Tissot watch did,if not better. It's only been a day but this watch looks, runs, and feels like a quality watch. It may fall apart tomorrow and I still won't be out much. I have several swiss made watches and several more that were much less expensive. The Invicta is now the cheapest one I own. I'll wear it more than the others just to prove it to myself that sometimes, you get more than you pay for. Way more. Time will tell. Pun intended. mjc.
I think this is great. Not so much about the Invicta, but an excellent, calm and thorough strip down of an automatic watch movement. Clear explanation of almost all of the individual elements and sub assemblies - what they are and what they do. The Invicta part is pretty much secondary! Thanks very much for taking the time to do such a quality job to share with the rest of us.
I own over 40 Invicta watches and this "ProDiver" is one of my everyday watches, I stumbled on them five years ago and some of the styles are just out of this world, the Automatic watches are very wearable and stylish on the wrist, some of them are very large and heavy but eyecatching. I love your stripdown and comments about the watch and I found your comments interesting and watching you working on this impressed me. Thank you for sharing.
Bought my Pro Diver in 2014. Daily wear watch. Have swam regularly with it too. Have not had one issue with it in the 8 years I have had it. The case, band and crystal still look perfect. Love it!
Bought ten quartz Invictas since 2005 and all still run as long as you put batteries in them. Great watches and great choice of styles and sizes. Better than my more expensive Seikos.
@@barrymills1196 Maybe so, but my Invictas look a hell a lot better. Always wear them when I want to impress people. And not for much more money. Timex takes a licking, but they keep on ticking, but my Invictas keep a Glowing, when I want them a Showing. Never have to apologize about wearing an Invicta.
1.8k, is that it?!?! How, in God's name, do you only have 1,800 subscribers???? I have worked w/ my hands, in many various fashions, all of my life, pretty much. I have fantastic problem solving skills, and pride myself, in being able to think my way through almost any task. Using logic, ingenuity, and good old fashion innovation. I've always been good, at thinking outside of the box. All that said, I can't imagine, taking on a task, of this nature. I work on my own watches, but watchmaking, I wouldn't even attempt. I simply don't have the patience, or steady enough hand. Needless to say, I am in awe, of your work, and others like you, as well. And this is just a "basic" movement!!! It's amazing to me. Truly. Thank you, for sharing it. I have no doubt, that this channel, is going places
I have a similar Invicta, quite a bit older actually, and it still runs fine and keeps reasonably accurate time. It is a great candidate for the person who wants an automatic watch that they aren't afraid to ruin.
They may get hate for some of their more garish designs, but Invicta makes a quality watch in the pro diver lineup. An NH35 watch, with 200m water resistance, steel construction, for less than $80. Pretty huge. I think many dislike them because it sheds some light on how overpriced some watches can be. Looking at you, Seiko.
If you ever looked closely into a movement of say a rolex or Omega , you`d know where that price difference comes from. Seiko has 3 ranges of watches as well.
@@KpaBaPa notice that I didn’t say Rolex, omega, or Tudor. I own a Tudor BB58. I understand the difference. Fact is, Seiko charges over 5 times the price of one of these for a watch with the same movement. Check the presage cocktail time. Movement is basically the same as the NH.
@@andrewe.8321 I’ve owned a Rolex and own several Grand Seiko. Rolex is way over priced for what you get compared to the GS. This watch carries a Seiko movement that was probably built in Thailand. That doesn’t mean it’s bad, but Japanese labour costs more than Thai labour. Everything else is stamped out in China hence the price.
I have many watches. The first Invicta was an homage to the Breitling Aerospace. That's a few years ago! Still runs like a charm with both analog and digital displays working perfectly. Compared side by side to the real thing, you can tell the difference in weight and look, but I enjoy them both. When I was walking and got hit by a car, the Invicta Rolex homage watch was smashed to pieces. I am glad I wasn't wearing my real Rolex at the time. Watch snobs should let it go. Each watch is enjoyable in its own way. Now I just have to grow more arms.
Just received mine today through Walmart identical to yours, model number 9094OB. I paid 55.99 and can't find a flaw on it, everything lines up perfectly on the dial and the bezel has no slop at all. Maybe I just got lucky but I'm very happy with it.
@@blacksheep6888 If you say that an action, a method, or a product is uneconomical, you mean that it does not make a profit. It was a word you just applied it wrong not very smart.lol
I have worn exactly this watch for over 6 years...in the pool, in the shower, working with heavy machinery. It sometimes goes through phases. For a while, perhaps a few days it will run fast and then return to normal. Then it runs slow and returns to normal. This is the best watch I've ever owned with no battery to go flat or replace. Oh, several times people at a distance have confused it with a Rolex Submariner with an envious "I like your watch." I can live with that!
Your comment absolutely turned me off from this watch. It doesn't keep good time. Why would anyone want that? Because it looks like another watch that doesn't keep good time? It is good you have a phone so you are never late...
@@Onemore59 When I said the watch would run slow or run fast, I think you got the mistaken idea of a wildly out of sync time piece. I use a Seiko quartz wall clock clock to reset my Invicta wrist watch. The difference can be 30 secs up or down over a period of weeks and after 6 years that's not bad. This watch has become part of my arm almost like a wedding or signet ring. My wife was given a Rolex 'perpetual' watch by a famous corporation for exceeding her sales goal. She made them a ton of money. The watch? It quit in less than two years, this after retailing for over $8k and now hides amongst important papers and jewelry in the safe.
@@Onemore59 Mine runs around +2 seconds a day, so it's just as accurate as watches 10-100 times the price. I still wouldn't look at my watch to tell the time haha
@@Onemore59 Normally you want to regulate it so it runs slightly fast (perhaps by +5spd on average). That way, you won't be late for anything because the actual time will always be
Have had my Pro Diver for about 15 years now. Similar to the one in the video, but with a Miyota movement (8215 I believe). Replaced the movement after about 10 years, as it would freeze up and not keep time. Its been about 5 years since and its still going strong! Really love that watch!
I bought this watch in 1999 or 2000 and it’s been serviced only once since. Runs like a top and the lume is still nice and bright. What a value for money it has proven to be.
You should probably service it. Even though it works amazing, the gears and cogs most likely need servicing and they will wear out faster if you don't.
Spot on review. I have seen many microbrands with watches $300 plus with no hacking, using the universal Miyota 8215. The hate this watch (Pro Diver) gets is ridiculous. DOn't get me wrong invicta has some 55mm dinner plate monstrosities in their catalog, but for $60 to $70 nothing really beats the features of a Pro Diver. That NH35 is a workhorse.
I also think you’d struggle to find a comparable watch for the sale price range as this Invicta. The dinner plates however are definitely not my thing 😂 JSG
I love my Invictas. I own mostly versions of the Pro Diver, as the Submarine is a dream watch, but far from being in my budget. I had a second hand fall off once, but it was also on the first Pro Diver I owned, and only had the one, so wore it every day and wore it hard. Local watch place fixed it and never had another issue until the clasp came undone during a cliff jump, losing it in a River. But I had that watch for years and it was more than worth the money
I´ve got mine for over five years, and I really love that watch. So it literally hurts me to see one of them being dismantled into a hundred pieces ore more, but you brought it back together. Great job and great video.
@@jsgwatches you have tremendous talent! Not hard to put back together?! I was just in awe of seeing a hundred tiny pieces taken apart and put back together and like magic it just worked again. You are too modest! This was incredible
Just wow! I think this is THE most impressive video I have EVER seen on TH-cam. 28:28 when you just shook it and it works, now that took my breath away! What a skill you have.
I recently purchased the black pro-diver for exactly the reasons you discuss. I have it on the B&W NATO strap and I have to say it looks the business. Over a week I checked the accuracy to 5 seconds per day and am well pleased with the results. I have no intention to dive with it as I already have other Seiko dive watches, it just looks good on the wrist! I actually do use the hacking facility regularly to calibrate my watches against my radio controlled GMT clock. Overall I think this is a great little timepiece for the price (£84) especially with trusted Seiko automatic movement. I can only assume detractors think that because of the low price it simply cannot be any good and dismiss it out of hand. I am not ashamed to wear this watch. Thank you for the very constructive and informative video.👍
I got mine in 2017, the 8926OB, for $56 delivered. This is by far the toughest watch I’ve ever owned. It has been dropped onto concrete from a height of 9 feet, smacked against metal semi-trailer frames, endured the vibration from Stihl weedeaters, chainsaws and Harley motorcycles. I have beat the crap out of this watch for 5 years now. No other watch has lasted half as long.
I've had several. Not a diver, nor an active outdoors type person. For my lifestyle, I have no complaints of the brand. After six years of using Invictas, I would reccomend them.
I love the timing of this video! I work for a jeweler one day a week just to help him out and change watch batteries. I am also gearing up to dip my toe in the pool of watch repair. Oddly enough, this exact watch came in this week. A gent needed a couple links removed. I had no idea the watch was so affordable. I have been collecting vintage pocket watches to start on but had always wondered if there would be a reasonable option for buying a working watch to strip down and put back together. It appears there is!! Thanks for the great video's. Keep up the great work.
I just wanted to do a quick update. Took my watch to the Jewelry store today and they resized it, fits perfect now. The watch is performing better than I figured it would, I set it perfectly 48 hours ago and it is losing 5 seconds a day. I'm impressed.
I own 6 INVICTA watches including the Grand Diver. I have owned them for several years and do not see any flaws or shoddy workmanship. They have all run like a champ and I have never had a lick of problems with a one. Great Watches.
YOU are amazing .. Thanks for the indepth video. As a machinist myself I have total respect for the skill in your hands. LOVE my Invicta watches and YOUR videos.
Was in TN in a Motel. Scrolling TV and the Invicta channel/show comes on. All titanium dive watch for 160.00!!! I order 2, one for and my pops. ALL TITANIUM!!? CASE, BAND, CLASP... EVERYTHING. LIGHT AS A FEATHER. Clear view back. Keeps excellent time. I want another one. It's so lights it's crazy!!! Love it!! All titanium for 160.00 AMAZING!!
Great video! Learned some things I didn’t know and gained a greater appreciation for talented folks like yourself. I just purchased a Invicta Pro Diver 43545 for $30 on Amazon’s Prime day. But honestly didn’t really know that much about them, outside of sites that are selling them. I don’t really like the majority of their models of watches (alarm clocks for your wrist), and too busy, for my taste. I was attracted to this model by it’s 40mm case and the beauty of less is more. Your video and review were greatly informative and I love that you showed the complete dismantling, cleaning and reassembling in it’s entirety. I’m a retired aerospace machinist and appreciate the precision of close tolerances and complexities of workmanship. Thank you Sir.
Great video! I agree with you about Invicta. I bought this watch, and I was also impressed by it's quality. When I look at the fit and finish, and the movement inside, I can't believe I only paid around $70 USD. I don't get why people hate on this brand so much.
They hate it because when you point out to an "i.e." Rolex wearer that he paid $12K for his watch....& you paid $70 for a watch that looks similar and works the same & probably keeps better time .... He looks a bit silly ! And when he gets mugged at gun-point for that Rolex ........well .... trying to look flash really can cost you your life ....
@@stupitdog9686 Actually no. People hate it because the copy brands, they can't be popular unless doing so, and I have a pro diver with the miyota movement and the screw down crown eventually stripped. It tells time, but at $100 bucks don't expect to have the item adored, go up in value, etc. Its a tennagers watch who is starting to get to know what he likes in watches.
I bought one pf these . Not to fool people but because the blue dial was a stunning deep blue purple colour. I have had it for 7 years and it runs perfectly .This video was very educational ,thank you.
I've got an old Pro Diver that I've had for 9 years. I work in the oilfield and have beat this watch up pretty good. The only thing that's gone wrong is the second hand has fallen off. I removed the movement, took the second hand out of the case and put it back together. It still works fine and is still in my beater rotation, just without the second hand. haha. If it ever dies completely, I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one to replace it.
I don’t know I have the gold tone. I love it keeps good time and is very durable for the life style I put it through. Lots of chopping wood and labour work. I never take it off. Sleep with it.I’ve had it for well over a year now. No issues with clasp or anything you’ve mentioned. I’ve seen lots of people don’t like them but I can’t afford a nice watch. This is the nicest I can do. It is my first movement watch ever. I’ve always used battery and now I won’t anymore. So I can at least thank invicta for that. Great video buddy. Like the channel
I love my Pro Divers. They are reliable and solid and they really help weed out the watch snobs from both sides... Those that treat you better when they assume you're wearing a Submariner and those that treat you with contempt when the see that it's "just an Invicta". 😄
I own two myself and I my opinion the Pro Diver series offers hands down most bang for your buck in the affordable price category. Applied indices, automatic movement that can be regulated to within COSC specs, 200m diver, quickset day-date, hacking, handwinding and if you get the blue dial version you'll also get a sunburst dial and all that for 60 to 70 bucks! Unbeatable!
Thanks very much for this video........I have bought a few INVICTA watches over the years and have thought they usually offer value for money........The quality has been very decent for the price paid for the watch, and the look and presentation of the watch also scores highly.......As a all up package, I have found that they do represent good value for what you pay.......If you are smart about the particular watch you purchase from their considerable range you should expect to be very satisfied with your purchase without fatal consequences to your bank balance......Lastly, many of the extreme and negative comments made by collectors about INVICTA watches are way over the top.....Get a grip on yourself fellers, at the end of the day we are talking about a mass produced item that is modest in its price, is reliable and gives you good service with very reasonable design & build quality.....This is NOT a ROLEX, but if you buy an INVICTA with expectations of receiving ROLEX quality and performance in return, the problem may lay with you in the first place!!......If you are expecting the performance & quality of a ROLEX the be prepared to stump up the $10K+ starting price and quit the bitching!.....At the end of the day it is still only a watch; not a priceless religious artefact, crutch for your ego or the cure for cancer!!.....OK!???
Very good video tutorial. Nicely paced and well narrated. This serves to show how tricksy it is to service a mechanical watch, even when you know what you're doing. I think the issue with Invicta is that their pricing varies wildly; whilst you might pay $75 in one place, you could equally end up paying three or four times that elsewhere.
I have a Invicta Pro Diver and I’ve swam with it in the ocean and pools, I’ve had it for 5 years now, and still haven’t had one problem. I love this company it’s a good looking watch for the price!
I'm wearing this one right now and keeps excellent time. I was working in water a whole day with it on and not a single problem with that. The lume is great compared to other more expensive watches i have. Everything lines up on the watch as does with my other 5/6 Invictas. You really can't go wrong with these watches with the price bracket. If you want to pay a bit more for a good budget watch then get an Orient or Seiko for around £170-£270.
I've owned one for 11 years and wear it almost every day. It gets tons of compliments even now, most people assuming it was a Rolex. The "gold-plate" method they use is outstanding.
I got my first Invicta watch over 12 years ago. It has lasted amazingly well and still functions the way it should. I also own seven Invicta reserve watches in various designs including the Bolt Zeus, and others. Again same thing they work exceedingly well they keep great time and they look fabulous. I do have other watches including a Tag, Baume & Mercier, and a Rolex for dress, but for everyday use it's definitely Invicta.
Thanks for making this video. It was very interesting to see the engineering that goes into these automatic movements. I have 2 of these Invicta Pro Divers (NH35A) and they are great watches for the price...
Thanks for doing this. I have one of these and I’m astounded that they can make a profit making these. Mine keeps great time, the amplitude is good and the beat error is about 1 msec. The case and bracelet are really solid, and the dial and hands are spectacular. It’s a hacking movement and it’s got a see-through case back. As a novice watch repair tech I would service this without sweat, because I could replace it for a fraction of the price of having it serviced by a professional watchmaker. This has to be one of the best values for money in the watch business. I don’t have a horse in this race but I think Invicta has won the triple crown with this winner.
I think 1 ms BE is a bit high, but if it's keeping time well enough for you it doesn't actually matter. I recently regulated the NH35 in my Phoibos Leviathan, and the lever for correcting beat error is a tricky thing to interact with. You want to give it _tiny_ nudges, but it's easy to give it a big shove by accident. Also, the balance is right underneath and if you foul that you'll feel very bad. Anyhow, I absolutely agree the value proposition in these watches is really tough to beat. I don't know if I'd spend the time to service an NH35 even if I was capable of doing so (not yet!!). They're just so cheap, they last, and they're a perfect choice for watches like this. I recently bought a Zelos Hammerhead with an NH35, and I'm completely happy with it in that USD$350 diver as well. Enjoy your watch!
I paid 80.00 for my Invicta nearly 5 years ago and it still runs perfectly, keeps great time and still looks fantastic. It has many times been misidentified by friends as a Rolex, I always tell them, "No, it's an 80 dollar Invicta and runs perfectly!"
Great video! I own three quartz Invicta watches. I have used them long enough to replace the batteries once each. They hold up well and still look brand new. I swim with them all the time. They never fog. The 9094OB in this video is superb looking.
I bought my Invicta twenty + years ago. I didn't realize at the time that it was a "Rolex homage" watch. I no longer wear it, but it still works. It kept great time and I was very happy with it.
Great video - thanks for it. The intricate microengineering that goes into an automatic watch movement is truly remarkable. Your video was most insightful.
I have an older version with a Miyota movement. I modified the watch with a dial that I designed myself. Never had any problems with it. I was at an appointment with my cardiologist one day and noticed he was wearing what appeared to be an 8926 Invicta. I asked him about it and he took it off and showed it to me. It was an Invicta but it had an ETA movement and a much higher quality bracelet. I wasn't aware there was such a thing. It looked identical to my watch but up close you could see and feel the difference.
It's not common to find an Invicta with an ETA movement, at least not in a mechanical timepiece. Most of the Swiss made Invicta watches that are mechanical have a Sellita SW200-1 movement, which is basically a clone of an ETA 2824-2. Only few Invicta models have an ETA movement, usually in a quartz or the rare ETA 7750. Since ETA now only makes movements for specific brands, the Swiss made Invicta watches use movements made by Sellita
Honestly, these days not all Chinese watches can be sniggered at anymore. I recently bought a Pagani Design Sub homage because I'd read so many good things about them and at the price it seemed rude not to. Build quality is easily on par with the current generation Seiko 5's but at a third the price. You get stainless construction and unlike the Seiko, ceramic bezel insert, sapphire, solid end links, screw in links and a nice clasp. The NH35 was running about - 15 but I've regulated it to +10 per week. I'm blown away by what you get for the money, and I'm not sniggering anymore. In the case of that Invicta, I might be a little concerned about that yellow finish they've used on the rota. As standard the NH35 is bare metal so hopefully the finish they've used to individualise won't start flaking away over time and infect the movement.
Chinese manufacturing has come a long was over the last 20 years! its definitely not what it used to be and has come on leaps and bounds, it still unfortunately has a bad stigma, but my guess is not for too much longer. JSG
Pagani Design is the best Chinese brand for sure. The specs on Paganis are off the chart. These generic Seiko NH35 movements are really good. They can be regulated much better than the published accuracy specs. I got my NH35 to run +3 sec / day with a full manual wind or active daily wear with careful regulation. Perfect for me.
Really great video; thank you for taking the time to make it. I have one of these watches and, honestly, dollar for dollar it's the best watch value there is. It's an absolute tank with a Seiko movement - for under $100. I have a number of much more expensive watches, but I tend to wear this a lot because of the durability, accuracy, and the fact that I don't really worry if the watch gets dinged or scratched.
I absolutely love invicta, the high end watch brands are out of my budget but the invicta has literally an almost duplicate of every single watch on the market . Always a great but no matter your budget.
I noticed your "budget" comment, so I wanted to tell you, you're not missing all that much with the genuine article. I had this Invicta watch in two-tone (9028) and loved it. Then, I went to the Bahamas and saw the two-tone 18K/SS Rolex Submariner it replicates for $5,000 (it's $30,000 now). They were $6,000 in the US, but also tax. Paying no mind to multiple pina coladas, it was an enormous expense, but my VISA allowed me to do it (along with the rum), so I did. It came with a beautiful wood box I had to leave behind, in order not to have to deal with duty. If you're wearing it, they can't say you got it there if you don't have the box (and the jeweler would not ship it). The thing of a lifetime was now on my wrist. I appreciated it all the time, I even slept with it on, but that's not unusual for me not to take my watch off; they're like rings to me; I keep them on in bed, at the gym, during sex, showering, bike rides, etc.) . It wasn't all that long that kept looking at it and admiring it, until I realized why I was studying it so intensely. I discovered I had loved the anticipation of owning it, more than actually owning it. It was like wanting to see a movie, having that anticipation, then when you've seen it, it's over. It was a great movie; do I want to see it again? It was the most beautiful watch I owned. I had loved it for years before, and only dreamed of owning one. My dream came true, but it changed the moment it wasn't a dream anymore, but it took me a little while to figure it out. I ended up selling the watch a couple years later, and at a loss at that. I didn't know the market, but it doesn't matter now. I do regret selling it, but I did need the money at that time. I do however remember that experience and it has served me well. Now those things I want really bad aren't things I want so bad after all. I now know the difference in anticipation of having something, and then actually having it. I lost money on that watch, but the experience was extremely valuable. I don't go around anymore thinking, "I wish I had one of those". Things I once thought were impressive, really aren't. I have $113 to go before my car is paid for (this month!). It looks and drives great for a 6 year old car; I bought it new. I could have bought a new car a long time ago, but guess what I learned? A new car would do nothing for me. It would drive the same and get me to the same places. There's nothing wrong with the one I have and I've just given myself a $325 a month raise by not buying a new one! I couldn't justify that Rolex and I can't justify a new car. I'm back to wearing my Invicta watches and I love them now like I used to. Oh sure, I look down and miss the Rolex crown on the face sometimes, but I smile inside, because of the lesson I learned. It's not fun not to want something, not to wish for or anticipate, but be realistic about those feelings, why you feel that way and how you will feel when your wish comes true. Rolex is beautiful, don't get me wrong. I'm simply not in the income bracket not to be bothered by the cost. There's also no reason for a redneck in Florida to be walking around with a Rolex anyhow. The newness of such a purchase comes and goes very quickly, no matter what it is really. Coming from someone who knows, you're really not missing anything except a huge monthly bill years into the future. I actually wanted a motorcycle and getting one of those and wearing an Invicta is a lot more practical.
@floridaredneck congrats on finishing off your car payments. That must be a relief finally 😀 oh I'm not one for fancy for fancy sake, but something about the Rolex and Cadillac I just adore. My grandfather came to Canada with nothing but the clothes on his back and was able to obtain all the status quo symbols of success like the Cadillac and Rolex and other things of that nature by working hard and paying his dues so I want to live up to that. Crazy I know, but it's what I like. I have a few invicta watches, and they're all fantastic. However, I'm looking to sell a couple of them just so I can get some smaller sized watches. Honestly, the name of the watch shouldn't matter as long as you like it, I like Mr. Jones watches because they have unique qualities like scenery that moves in the watch face, and pieces of the scene are the hands of the watch, and they are under 1000$ for the top model. I do understand the falsehoods of therapy that shopping gives you it's almost worse than drugs, and regardless of what you spend and how awesome the things you bought are, it literally fades in a moments notice. What's the best memory of your current car?
This is a remarkable video. I’ve been looking to watchmaking for some time now and it’s taken me a very long time to find a video as explanatory yet concise as this one. The Seiko NH 35 is perhaps the most ubiquitous movement in the world. For good reason. It’s solid and by the looks of it relatively less finicky than more complex Swiss movements. It is remarkable how Invicta can essentially build an $18 watch that is not completely crappy. Thank you for this video it has really helped my understanding of this hobby/profession.
The Pro Diver collection has a sub-category called Grand Diver. The Grand Divers have a depth stamp of 300 meters. The Pro Divers have depth stamps of 100m and 200m. The Grand Divers are simply amazing and do not cost much more than the other Pro Diver siblings.
I bought an invicta about six years ago and I didn’t know if I had a good watch or piece of junk So I am great full for the algorithm to pop you up here and am happy to have my inviticta grand diver 15845 Thanks man 👍👍👍
Now at least someone noticed this amazing deal from Invicta. I have been buying Invicta for a few years already, they use Seiko movements and they are so reliable and accurate! I own 60+ watches ranging from Casio all the way to an Omega golden watch, and I am a mechanical inclined person. Don’t expect a Rolex or equivalent brand, but for under $100 that’s the best you can get for something looks like a diving watch. However I won’t be using it as a true diver watch anytime though, don’t mess around with a watch if your life is depended on it!
Great video and an answer from an engineer to those collectors who think that quality is all about money. I now have three Invictas and they are perfect for experimenting with different straps. All have a fantastic look on the ‘Nato’ strap. I love the look and quality of these watches and admire the mechanical movement, especially from a respected brand like Seiko. They also don’t pretend to be anything else by boldly engraving their moniker on the side of the watch casing. I personally wouldn’t use it for snorkelling or swimming, I have an Oris and Seiko Propects for that purpose, but I’m sure they are perfectly adequate. Good review👍
I own several Invictas with NH35A and Swiss movements and have liked them for years. I have 2 of the 40mm homage (8926OB) and a few other Pro Divers. The NH35As are fairly accurate ~10-15 secs/day out of the box. I think they're a great watch for the money.
I have had my pro diver going on five years. Fantastic watch for the money. I use it everyday, very durable, I love my watch. I have had my watch to 200 feet under water with no problems. I'm an Invicta watch owner from hear on out.
I’ve always wondered about that. Such precision of parts and in assembly, but then repeated in the hundreds or thousands, and all working perfectly ! Just phenomenal !
This is my second or third time watching this amazing demonstration. I have been a 'product support engineer' for complicated aerospace systems that you see in Ukraine now all my life.. This is what he is doing. He didn't design it.. But, he understand it. and with his combination of 'tech and social talent' makes this special. I am convinced to buy..
I'm a big fan of the NH35 etc, they're solid and dependable and a lot of interesting microbrand watches wouldn't exist without them and similar low cost Japanese movements.
I've owned a circa 2000 Omega Seamaster. I ended up selling it after 12 years of daily use. Three years ago I bought a Invicta Grand Diver for $100 USD delivered. I wear it everyday keeps excellent time, and absolutely love it. It does everything the Seamaster did for far less money.
I really like my Invicta watches. The last time I had my Breitling serviced, it cost $600 usd; I could buy 8+ Invicta for that. Also. I use the hacking feature to set the time against an atomic clock. Makes it easy to see how accurate it is over 24 hours. Excellent video! Thanks
I own multiple sub $1000 watches including several Hamilton khakis and a Tissot PRX. I also own 2 Pro Divers, a bluesy and a black dial with the NH35A movements. Fantastic looking and functional automatic watches. Is the bracelet as nice as my Hamiltons? No but just as good as the average Seiko. Great watches especially for the price. Haters are blind fools when trying to compare them to an actual Submariner, I could buy dozens of these for the price of a Rolex. Are they the same? No, but if someone wants a nice diver for under $100 and not worry this is it. I haven't had the issues others have had but I'm not tough on watches and if I'm working outside doing construction and such, that's the time I wear a F91W.
@@eagles4757 Oh do shut up you silly little person. Why do you feel the need to stomp all over the good experiences people have had with Invictas? Way too much time on your hands. Most people will never be able to afford a Rolex, and good for you if you can, but don't look down your nose at the rest of us because we have a more wallet-friendly watch, it's just an unpleasant mixture of bad manners, immaturity and arrogance on your part.
I own about five Invicta Pro Divers of various era's and designs. My first was a Pro Diver with coin edge bezel and Miyota 8215 movement I bought almost 15 years ago. At the time, I didn't even know it was a homage of a Rolex Submariner. I just thought it was just a cool watch. I also got a two-tone and blue version. These watches introduced me into watch collecting and still runs fine today. My most recent Pro Diver is this standard black bezel one with a hacking Seiko NH35 movement. I've turned into an amateur watchmaker and could simply swap out a new movement if anything goes wrong with them. Through the years, I've swapped out a few aftermarket Sub bezels for fun (it'll take some light sanding and epoxy glue). Despite owning various Rolexes, Omega, Tags, Sinn, etc.; I still rotate, wear and enjoy my Invictas. I tend to agree that there are a lot of hate and disrespect for Invicta online because their Pro Divers are such a bang for the buck that it exposes how much of a rip off many Swiss watches on the market are. Yes, the bracelet has hollow endlinks and stamped clasps, but so did the Rolex Submariner and GMT up until the late 90's. I can proudly wear my Pro Diver to the store knowing that my Submariner is lying safely in my cabinet at home.
I own about 15 Invictas. Very impressive looking and other than changing batteries (wich I learned to do on my own) they work very well and I also get many compliments on my watches.
I was thinking of buying a Seiko to sit next to my first watch, at 60 years old I bought my first watch, I'm still 60. Retiring self employed I bought a gold amalgam Japanese movement 50m Citizen, I like it and it didn't bust my bank, & when I look at it I feel retired on my terms. I'd been given two watches through my life that I rarely wore, I can't even remember the brands, stainless 80's watches... the last was a dive watch that my sweat ate alive in the desert... a gift to me, in the desert... So now I have a nice cheap gold watch, I bought it on special for about $250 AU. The thing I like most about it is that while it looks nice, if I get robbed I wont cry. So with the same mind I'd like a Seiko after watching all these you tube videos... to be my second watch after all the good reports, and having another Japanese movement, they'd be fiercely competitive. & I do like the idea of having a watch look like a Rolex, as I'll never be able to afford one, and that model is very cool. Two birds one stone, good movement for the money with a good look... I like it, thanks for making your video.
I actually really liked this overall. I'm not an ivory tower watch snob, but from my zeal with other hobbies where performance is comparatively appreciable among those involved enough to notice it, I do see where they could be coming from and appreciate the ability to balance "best-bang-for-buck" where it matters based on the intended user. And for most folks on a budget (but willing to invest in more than what Walmart or Amazon dropshippers have to offer) this seems to be very much where it's at. I've heard the name Invicta with all sorts of inconclusive and hyperbolic descriptions in various forums on either end of the spectrum, but this level-headed breakdown really does makes me willing to try them and see how it goes. (Especially for 60ish dollars like wtf who fucking cares for a non-quartz movement at a sub-$200-300 pricepoint)
I was actually really impressed with it. The only complaint I’d make is regarding the “Invicta” label milled into the side of the casing, but apart from that, it’s an absolute blinder of a watch. JSG
Wife bought me an Invicta Reserve for an anniversary 15 years or more ago. Solid stainless steel case and band. Thing weighs close to a US pound. Mine has it stamped on the face thats its Swiss made. Dont know how thats possible with this info you provided. Had the battery replaced for probably the 4rth time or so and the watchmaker showed me, and was surprised that there were rubies inside it. I had no idea. I don't know crap about watches. Just love the watch because it keeps accurate time, doesn't run fast or slow, never have to adjust it, and it's a beast.
I have owned one and worn it in and off for almost nine years. I knew what I was buying and it has not disappointed. Keeps good time and has been durable. It’s wort what I paid. Great gateway to automatics.
This video was awesome man, thanks for showing how everything works. I have never owned an Invicta but always heard mixed reviews. Ill have to get one for myself and test it out.
Bought one in 2009 as a beater. I brushed all polished parts, looks much better. The crystal scratched real easy, and the metal is pretty soft as it too scratches very easy. It also is not accurate at all, but for this money you can't expect that. But it does keep on running up to now, although I haven't worn it in years. Pretty good deal I think, especially since Seiko has gone nuts with the Seiko 5 prices, they are absolutely not worth the money nowadays.
This is an excellent video and fascinating. I've bought invictas for years and have loved them. They look expensive, have been reliable, and now you have confirmed they are well built.
Love the video... I have a all sorts of watches (Oris, omega, invicta, bulova) have had many invictas of all sorts and never had an issue and all are still running (automatic and quartz). Never understood the hate they got after I got into watches and have been complemented almost every time I wear one of the pro/grand diver
Honestly, I am not a fan of Invicta but my first budget collection buy was the '1953' Invicta Pro Diver Black Dial Coke Bezel Model 34334. and was just shy of a $100 shipped. It had been an amazing daily wear and other than the cheap-ish pressed clasp; the overall construction, style, even precision of the moment has been one heck of a great deal! I use the hacking to sync up with some software at work to help time when I need to pull reports and this watch keeps better time than my Bulova w/ Miyota 8-series movement. So well, in fact that I thought my Bulova had a bad movement (until I looked up the specs, that is!) This watch has swiftly become a benchmark for me when doing a little budget watch collecting and I have a hard time justifying anything sub-$400 as a result. I mean, what fun is getting a bunch of other cheap divers with the same, if not similar movements when this one fills that niche so well and does it cheaply enough that I won't cry over the typical daily scuffs n' scratches?
I've had one Invicta for going in 20 years. still keeps time well, still water proof through anything and everything I've ever done. the braclet pops if you put huge pressure or take a big spill say skate boarding in my case...but the spring pins are what fail not the actual bracelet. I'm up to 4 Invictas, my wife has a couple. they are cool.
I bought one at Costco, calling it my "Rolex trainer" LOL, but soon found that it stopped periodically because the second hand was lightly touching the inside of the crystal. The second hand was leaving a visible trace on the glass due to a thin film of evaporated oil deposit, which was easier to see when a watch has black dial. Costco would refund but didn't have any in stock so I took it home to correct it myself. When I opened the case back, I found a couple of small pits in the O-ring groove, which would compromise water resistance. A generous amount of silicone grease made it suitable for daily wearing and even washing in the sink. Otherwise the materials and quality exceed the price point.
I've read that to fully wind this watch it takes 55 turns on the crown if the watch is fully wound down and no longer running so I did that and then shook it incase I was a little lite. I set my watch perfectly using my cellphone yesterday morning then wore it all day not taking it off till 10:30 pm. The watch sat on the table for 10 hours before I took my reading and my results were: During the timed 24 hour period the watch gained 1 second. This is an incredibly accurate watch but the results will not be as good if you time it between 24 hours and the 41 hour full reserve.
Invicta might pay less per n35a movement with massive ordering, so it will have more profit buffer room even with $60 the watches sells for. With that said, $60 is the best deal on the market for an automatic watches gives you hacking, quick date set, 20 bar water resistance...

It’s still functioning and is one of the best and most reliable watches that I’ve ever owned. Actually better than a few of my over $500 timepieces. Still wearing it regularly, 16 years and counting.

I use this watch for recreational scuba diving and it works great! I don't wear it daily, just diving, but I've had it down to130ft of depth several times and probably have 100+ dives on it total. If it stopped tomorrow I'd buy another one without any hesitation. It's a bargain!

I've worn it for work and play, swam in pools and the sea with it, worn it snorkelling and scuba diving, and it's never skipped a beat, never succumbed to water ingress and it still looks like new! They may get hate for some of their more garish designs, but Invicta makes a quality watch in the pro diver lineup. An NH35 watch, with 200m water resistance, steel construction, for less than $80. This watch carries a Seiko movement that was probably built in Thailand. That doesn’t mean it’s bad, but Japanese labour costs more than Thai labour. Everything else is stamped out in China hence the price.

I like the size because I'm a rather large fellow. Love invictas
They certainly have a lot of fugly watches but this ones decent...
So they have even managed to copy the functionality of a Rolex bracelet?
throw all in the river would be my advise
I´ve got mine for over five years, and I really love that watch. So it literally hurts me to see one of them being dismantled into a hundred pieces ore more, but you brought it back together. Great job and great video.
These things are actually quote nice to work on, so not too challenging to piece back together. Glad you enjoyed it boss! JSG
Buy a Bostok for the same money- much better made and after you strip it down and reassemble it you'll actually have something worth keeping.

100% agree! JSG
This was my first mechanical watch and it was great. The value made this watch better than anything in the market.
Same, from Rolex to Invicta. Interesting to see it's well built. (Invicta).
Thanks for making this video. It was very interesting to see the engineering that goes into these automatic movements. I have 2 of these Invicta Pro Divers (NH35A) and they are great watches for the price...

I bought one 5 years ago and absolutely love it. I wore it at a meeting with my bank manager and he complimented me on my beautiful rolex.

I'd be interested to see some other Invicta's, all I know is that i was impressed by this pro diver, absolute beast for the price tag it commands. JSG
I own about 15 Invictas. Very impressive looking and other than changing batteries (wich I learned to do on my own) they work very well and I also get many compliments on my watches.
I own a few of invictas and get compliments as well, but recently bought a TechnoMarine from invicta and them things look fire too
I was thinking of buying a Seiko to sit next to my first watch, at 60 years old I bought my first watch, I'm still 60.
I've had one of these for 4 years now, no issues at all. Been diving with it in salt water too (10 m). Thinking of paying for a service soon.
it will cost more than a new watch
Indeed! Just buy a new one.
People love hating on cheap watches just to justify the overpriced brands
This is an excellent video and fascinating. I've bought invictas for years and have loved them. They look expensive, have been reliable, and now you have confirmed they are well built.
Amazing video! Must have take you an absolute age to film, edit and produce - thanks so much for posting such a fascinating video!
So well, in fact that I thought my Bulova had a bad movement (until I looked up the specs, that is!)
This watch has swiftly become a benchmark for me when doing a little budget watch collecting and I have a hard time justifying anything sub-$400 as a result. I mean, what fun is getting a bunch of other cheap divers with the same, if not similar movements when this one fills that niche so well and does it cheaply enough that I won't cry over the typical daily scuffs n' scratches?
I own two of these watches!, they never let me down. I love them!, would recommend highly. Adrian 🍀
I am now pro Invicta and would recommend them, I don’t think you can go wrong with one of these. A very good watch for the price you pay!
you have 2 of them lucky guy you big spender lol
@@eagles4757 jealous that you can't afford an Invicta then troll, pathetic
@@eagles4757 bought second hand, as cheap as chips!. 👍

WOW FIRST THING THAT COMES TO MY MIND WITH INVICTA QUALITY LMAO
I bought invicta for my sister with so called diamonds 15 years ago.. It is still in shape and working. Great watches
I've read that to fully wind this watch it takes 55 turns on the crown if the watch is fully wound down and no longer running so I did that and then shook it incase I was a little lite. I set my watch perfectly using my cellphone yesterday morning then wore it all day not taking it off till 10:30 pm. The watch sat on the table for 10 hours before I took my reading and my results were:
During the timed 24 hour period the watch gained 1 second. This is an incredibly accurate watch but the results will not be as good if you time it between 24 hours and the 41 hour full reserve.
Same here, I read in the service manual it takes 55 winds also, seems like a serious number of turns to get a full wind! JSG
