Civ 3 leaders are deeply unsettling...
They are ugly as #&€$; but they improved with age, that was a nice feature.
It is a cool idea, but, still, god damn, the leaders on the first game looked better then the ones on the third game.
Same goes for the second game
Genghis Khan looks like that frozen caveman from Scooby Doo, but somehow uglier...and Alexander looks like Peewee Herman/a vampire...

The IV lines are... strange to say the least. And the visuals of IV and III are pretty scary to be honest.

But tbh enerything but IV is weird to me bc that was the one i grew up watching my older siblings play, so any other designs seem terribly done or over done. Haha Elizabeth is such a charmer isn't she?
I grew up playing Civ IV with my Dad. It's my favorite and I like a lot of the stuff in it more than Civ V
IV doesn't look that bad, just outdated. III is nightmare fuel.
Civ IV's line where probably meant to be comical, but the faces are a bit offputting.
It's a horror show.

Civ 5 still has the best leader Cutscenes they actually feel like they are in a location and can get a feel of their personality based on were they are
It is neat to see just how amazingly beautiful Civ 5 is when compared to all the other Civs. It's like stepping out of the darkness and into the light. It is inspiring, breathtaking, and lovely.
Civ IV is way better.
Civ 3's Genghis Khan makes me uncomfortable
In my opinion, he looks way too much like a savage brute. In real life, he was a very intelligent strategist and politician.

The ideas of ambassadors instead of leaders and leaders actually changing clothes once in a century were bloody good. Why would civ developers drop them?

Yeah, the dynamic leaders is definitely a cool little touch, but it doesn't really make sense for everyone to be wearing suits in the modern era. Civilisation was always a "what if" game. The only reason a suit and tie is considered universal formal attire around the world in the 21st century is because of the worldwide cultural hegemony of europe and its colonies, especially the US, in the past couple of centuries. Who's to say that in an alternate history where the Persians or the Incas or the Zulus were culturally dominant over most of the world we wouldn't be dressing like them?
Well considering that there ARE people "stuck" dancing around a fire wearing a leaf-skirt even in developed countries in the 21st century, your point is moot. You're implying that clothing in the western world is made to the most efficient standard possible to provide maximum insulation or protection, which simply isn't true. Fashion is still heavily reliant on tradition and trends, which are rarely grounded in science. This isn't to say that fashion doesn't change or adapt, but to have everyone wearing Western influenced or inspired clothing in an alternate history game is just ridiculous. Modern versions of traditional clothing for the different civs is not infeasible. Clothes being "a form of technology" does nothing to invalidate my original point.

Wrong. When he researches Democracy it lowers aggression by 2 and since he's a 1/10 it loops to 255.
Everyone hates Civ 3 for its graphics, but I gotta admire the way that the leaders change clothing once they become more modernised.

Gandhi was focusing on building and using nukes in Civ V? Wow, that's highly unusual for him..
in civ 2 there was a glitch where gandhis aggression was one but once he got to the point in the tech where he could get democracy it was lowed by 2 the game could not calculate negatives so it put gandhis aggression from 1
to maximum which made him rush nukes

It became a running joke in th civ community, that ended it up making Gandhi the unoficcial mascot of the Civilization series. In fact, Gandhi secret agenda is called Nuke happy. Trust me, he will never leave this game.
Gandhi will haunt us in every Civilization game. And if he wont be a Leader any more, there must be a random event called "Gandhi's Spirit" when a random nuke is dropped on a random nation, including yours as a possibility
In fact, in Civ V, the developers as a gag made it so that past a certain point, Gandhi would rush nukes again.

I like how this video is made: No voice used (which is what I am trying to do in my videos), minimal text and a good amount of gameplay that is necessary. Very well done!
One thing that’s really cool in Civ 3 is that their clothes gets more modern with time, I wish that came back.
looking at the civ 5 realistic portrayal makes me wonder why they went so cartoonish for civ 6... hope they tail it back to realism in civ 7

You got Elizabeth's focuses in civ 5 wrong. Elizabeth only focuses on seeing if people are interest in a trade agreement with england.
By now, Ganhis Khan comes in Rise and Fall DLC in Civ 6, also Alexander leads Macedonia. I know they weren't when this video came out, just updating the list.
The animations in 5 are by far the best. Civ 6 looks more like an upgraded version of Civ 4 with an even more cartoonish slant. A real step back.

Civ V has had the best looking leaders and graphics by far with the only problem being the graphical glitches that happen. The only think Civ VI has going for it is the animation is pretty good but their leaders all look horrible with them being horrible proportioned and many being way to skinny that they literally just look like a skeleton.
What in the world are you all talking about? Civ VI, while far from realistic, is the most realistic of all the games.
CIV 6 has lots of mechanism, but the graphic for the leader is a bit ugly.

I get the importance of Genghis Khan and Alexander the Great as permanent presences in the game. And Gandhi has reached peak meme status in the community so his inclussion is necessary. But i am still surprised that Elizabeth 1 ranks among the 5 most represented leaders in Civ through all of history. especially when she represents a country with so many famous historical leaders. Shaka is an even stranger choice. The Zulu were never that important so why are they always there? They might as well have Tonga or Chile or Belgium as a permanent country in the game
Same with the Aztecs. And no Incas in most games!
