Girl! I’ve been waiting for you! My prayers have been answered! As a Middle Eastern girl with thick, curly hair. I’ve been on the hunt for a moisturizing shampoo and I just can’t find anything. My hair is just so dry/course. Everyone in my family has coarse curly hair but I wouldn’t say that my hair pattern has changed. My hair is just so dry and coarse

I come to you everytime I need/want to buy new hair product. Pause reads labels. Play. Reads screen. Rewind pause. And so on for 20 minutes. LoL
I'm studying like Miss just said 'This IS going to be on the final exam'
I just double checked ingredients on a set I grabbed on a whim from DT. And lo-and-behold, it meets the specs. $1.25! Now I'll test to see if the actual formulation is any good for my hair.
Thank you so much for this information. 🙏🏾 Appreciate you.

The Innersense Hydrating Hairbath is amazing! You only need a small amount, it helps to add water weight, I can start with detangling with this too and the lather is unreal. If you don't want to commit to the full bottle too they have tester sizes which I did when buying a styler and the conditioner.

Rizos curls shampoo is very moisturizing for my fine high porosity hair. It leaves my hair soft and easy to comb. I love a good lather to my shampoo and it delivers even with hard water. It smells really good, and rinses well. The deep conditioner is also a winner for my hair. They’re pricey, though.

I'm a weirdo who uses 2 shampoos, one applied directly to my scalp for about 30 min, then, a "moisturizing" shampoo so my hair is much easier to detangle. I'm loving KeraCare CURLESSENCE Moisturizing Shampoo for that one! Still need to use conditioner to detangle, but breakage is greatly reduced by using shampoo #2. And they sell it at Sally's, so it's accessible and affordable.

I haven't been able to afford natural hair brands like Shea Moisture, Kinky Curly and Cantu anymore. Although their products remain my favorite I have found a sulfate containing shampoo that comes really close for a fraction (3-5x cheaper) of the price. It's the Garnier Loving blends avocado oil and shea butter shampoo. It indeed has all the ingrediënts you were talking about. Other products from this line are also really good. Their no rinse conditioner is one of my all time favorite (leave in) conditioners.

I've missed your voice of reason. There is science and personal experience and bandwagonism. I made that last word up. 😆 I never got on the no all sulfate or cone train but I was aware of what can happen when using. I clean my hair each wash. No cowashing but thorough cleansing because I use products that can cause build up. If I use a product and I don't like how my hair feels based on what is advertised, then it's gone. I really have gone to more ayurvedic concoctions but when I don't feel like mixing I reach for Melanin Haircares black soap to clarify with out stripping my hair. My hair feels clean and not like straw and I follow up with Carol's Daughter Coco Creme Curl Quenching Shampoo. For me it's a winner everytime. I use oils and butters but again, thoroughly cleansing and caring for my hair, has only lead to positive experiences. I am happy to watch the rest of this series

Head and Shoulders original Royal Oil shampoo is great as an all purpose and moisturizing shampoo! It cleans the scalp well and gets the eczema off for about 10-14 days.
Shea Moisture JBCO shampoo is moisturizing but leaves a heavy film on the hair. Especially with extended use.
Even after washing twice with a clarifying shampoo, there may still be some if that residue. I suggest it for high porosity only.

So After years of trying out different brands, I found that WOW! Hair Science ACV shampoo has left my hair the cleanest, softest, and most moisturized than any other shampoo, and this applies after rinsing and before conditioner. From what I remember when I first read the bottle, it looks to have all those attributes listed. I recommend giving it a shot

@@AfopeAtoyebi Yep, I'm sure that's what Sajirah means. I've been using this shampoo for a while and I love it. I found it when I started having scalp issues following the CGM and was over-moisturizing my scalp, and found that an ACV rinse really helped, but most ACV shampoos don't really have any ACV - they just have plain vinegar. Maybe it doesn't matter and maybe plain vinegar is just as beneficial and ACV is just hype? - I'd love to know your thoughts on the matter.

I went on your website to be able to have an appointment with you as you are a trichologist and I have some scalps issues. But there is no where were we can contact you for an appointment or where you mention the services you offer 😟. So I was wondering if you still working as such. Thanks. However, after a visit to a trichologist i found out I needed to exfoliate my scalp and so I am using the Jason anti dandruff shampoo with salicylic acid once a month. Is it recommended to use an acidic shampoo on low porosity hair?

    • @AfopeAtoyebi
      @AfopeAtoyebi  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

In short - yes. All shampoos are technically acidic (~pH 5) and this is just in line with hair/sebum which is naturally also around this pH. at this pH level it's not altering the hair in any way so it's said to be ideal for all hair types - regardless of porosity. Anything more alkaline or more acidic than this could be problematic.

    Hi Afope!
For some reason my waist length hair got really mushy and gummy over the pandemic when it got wet and was really soft so I cut more than half of it off and incorporated protein in my routine and now it’s stiff, really shiny, loose, stringy when wet, yet still really soft and easy to detangle. I can’t even do twist-outs anymore because my hair can’t hold it.
    Any suggestions?

Try a protein deep conditioner your description sounds like moisture overload stringy and gummy don’t overdo it with protein it can have the adverse affect if used to often but I could help u bounce back
