🇲🇾 Sharing IFTAR with locals in Merdeka Square 2024

- Our first time sharing Iftar with local Malaysians in Merdeka Square!
After a few comments from our previous video gave us a hint toward Iftar being held at Merdeka Square, we thought we should go and see if we could join in.
Not knowing much else other than that it was on the weekends (we almost went on a weekday also, but that's another story...) we headed over and were blown away as always by the hospitality. So many people were smiling, waving, facetiming with us and it was such a nice atmosphere.
We met three lovely people, Hanani, Fitri and Aiysha, who invited us to sit with them and share Iftar. We spent a couple of hours chatting and learning more about each other. It was such a wholesome evening and we feel like we've genuinely made some new friends.
Thank you for watching and take care,
Jacob and Emma

This was such a wholesome video for us and our first iftar was so much better than we could have ever imagined! Thank you to Hanani, Fit and Aisyah for inviting us to share it with you ❤Don't forget to subscribe for more! 😊😊
tq for coming..enjoy your holiday
Yes.... Ramadhan is also about sharing and caring. It's all part of the religion apart from taking care of our senses ...'do no evil, say no evil, hear no evil' 🇲🇾
And I spent a few student years living in Enfield, N London a long time ago. Certainly not an MU fan.....C.O.Y.S
Thank you both, such a great experience, and wholesome teachings to live by. 😊
Bubur Lambuk :
• Bubur = Porridge
• Lambuk = the act of mixing the ingredients in the porridge
Ramadhan is considered a month of giving. Every Muslim kept looking for opportunities to feed people during Iftar.
It's such a nice moral to live by and one more people should definitely adopt to help make the world a better place ☺️❤️
Fasting is a religous demand..one of the pillars of islam..u skip 4 or 5 days out of a month you replace it in another month..There is people out there can fasting in full month even though their do a heavy work..Pray for our palestinians..Hope u enjoy malaysia😊😊😊
Yes, they were explaining sometimes if they have to skip a day, it's got to be made back up the following month. We learnt so much from them ☺️
In Islam
"None amongst you believes (truly) until he loves for his brother" - or he said "for his neighbour" - "that which he loves for himself."
from Sahih Muslim 45a
so the hospitality and the people who treat you kind are the one who truly follows Islam.
That's such a good teaching and way of life to live by! 🥰
don't be fooled by it. they don't treat own countrymen per the hadith
@@drw888don't u have any friends who are Malays or Chinese Muslim?
@@drw888 poor soul so full of hateness
Trolls are everywhere. They thrive on being a wet blanket.
Shout out to Fiq, Nani and Sha !
Massive shout out to them! The video was made so much better with them and they deserve the credit to be honest. They were so lovely 🥰
Man I wish I was in Malaysia... right about now!
It's such a great atmosphere everywhere we go! ☺️❤️
Welcome to Malaysia!
I'm Japanese but I live in Malaysia.
What is your camera name? It was a very beautiful video!😊
Thank you! How do you like Malaysia in comparison to Japan? We've always wanted to visit!
The camera we use is a DJI Action 4! We have a direct link in the description if you wanted to check it out! ☺
We showed our Malaysian attitude 😊
Malaysia certainly did, we are so appreciative of everyone’s kindness 💚
@@DisappearforDaysactually fasting is not harder for people tgat are used to it.. puasa isnt about holding our hunger but its to feel what poor people felt during hunger crisis like in palestine.. moreover we also will appreciate the small things in our food we will be grateful eveb for plain water if we break our fast😂
We actually gave fasting a go yesterday! (Keep your eyes peeled for a video next Tuesday 👀). We found it hard, but I think we are not used to it, but it definitely made us appreciate our food and drink more. Also it definitely does make you feel about the horrible situations people all over the world live in, not knowing when their next meal is.
In the UK there are Open Iftar organized T different place every weekend if not every other days now. You may google Open Iftar in the UK for more info😊
Oh awesome! We didn't realise there were open celebrations in the UK also. That would be a wonderful experience! ☺️
Make Malaysian friend guys, and for sure you'll get invite to Eid celebration 🎉🎈😊❤
Thank you 🥰
Semoga kamu sentiasa di pertemukan orang baik selalu ameen
Thank you for the kind blessings! There are so many good people in this country ❤️

Thanks so much! We look forward to it! ❤️
Alhamdulillah..
Fasting in the month of Ramadhan is a normal thing for us Muslims in Malaysia
It must be such a challenge!
Wellcome to to both of you for your information giving food to the visitors we call mussafir is a practice in Islam. Is good for you to learn about Islamic faith to understand our (Malay)culture, because in Msia mostly Malay is Muslim, enjoy your stay n have a good holiday
Thank you for the information! We loved chatting to them about Islam and learning more about it. We understand it is a massive part of Malaysia, so want to be able to understand it better ☺️
Welcome to Malaysia Mr. Jacob and Mrs. Emma hope you are well and enjoy your vacation with nice places take care sir❤
Thank you so much! We're having such a great time in Malaysia, so happy to be back! Thank you for watching and commenting ❤️
Great to see u both joining n enjoying d iftar event. The azan for maghrib...thats when we break our fast...IFTAR...
Thank you so much, we're glad you enjoyed 😊 We loved taking part in our first Iftar! 💚
What a great vlog, keep it up. Good job for hanani, fiq & aisyah. Maybe u can try to visit masjid besi or masjid putrajaya to experience iftar there.
Thank you so much, that's such a kind compliment! Hanani, Fit and Aisyah were such great hosts for the evening ❤️
You can also breakfast at any Mosque during this Ramadan.
The best place to start is the National Mosque. But please Telephone their PR office for dress acttice and placement
Oh we didn't realise you could do this also! That must be a fun time, but means you need to get up even earlier than 5am! 😬 Respect if you can do that!
What a lovely experience. Glad that you guys got to feel what it's like having the iftar with the locals at an open place. Hope that you guys enjoyed it.
It was such a nice experience! We'd recommend any other foreigners to join in and get a deeper understanding themselves ☺️
@@DisappearforDays It's been very long since I had an iftar at an open place. It always been with family or friends, now, most of the times, at home alone, as I prefer it. Glad to see you guys have had a good time.😀
ramadhan month is also called month of giving
Ah we didn't know that, what a lovely sentiment 💚
@@DisappearforDays sharing is caring ✌
Selamat datang ke malaysia "welcome to malaysia"
Thank you so much, Malaysia has welcomed us with open arms and we appreciate it so much 💚
The congee/porridge is made and given out to the underpriviledged. When they have extra, they give out to everyone.
It's so nice, and such a great way to live helping the poor ☺️
i also like malaysian i like malaysian food
It's some of the best in the world isn't it!
yes 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰@@DisappearforDays
No comparison! The best
Actually for me when you are at home not at work, eg during the weekend it is more challenging as food is nearby and time passes slowly. Whereas when you are working, you are busy, fully occupied , thus time passes quickly and by the time you arrive home, you don't have to wait too long before iftar. Just my two cents. Fasting in the UK this year is fairly easy because of the cold weather!
That's a good point, sometimes when you've got a lot on at work, I can imagine it naturally goes out of your mind!
I think the heat would be the hardest thing as we like to try and stay hydrated. It must be much less demanding in a cooler climate!
Thank you for watching ☺️
@@DisappearforDays In malaysia the daylight & hours of darknes are more or less constant, no changes throughout the year, 12 hours each. In countries with 4 seasons, fasting in summer is particularly hard because of the long daylight hours (the sun rises early and it gets dark very late). But it is compensated in winter as the daylight hours are pretty short!
@@azizahabdullah1143Yes Azizah. If you are occupied the whole day time with work at office, then just buy some food from the bazaar for iftar. And yes, that's what I heard from few of my friends in Europe, fasting time for the day is longer, but the cold weather help a bit I guess.
@@Yasin_Affandi Now the daylight hours are more or less the same. Today sunrise was around 6am and sunset around 6.40pm. But the hours change everyday.
@@azizahabdullah1143 That's good to know, it's just more or less the same hours of fasting in Malaysia or Singapore. In Kuantan, Subuh now is around 6.10am and Maghrib is around 7.20pm. So, not much of different between Malaysia and the UK in terms of fasting hours during March/April. 😀
Thank you for sharing ur beautiful blog. Hope both of u are in good health. May ur day be filled with happy moments and kind people.
Thank you so much, such kind words 💚
6:24 This was the moment! Wonderful hosts! 👍
They certainly were, we were so grateful 💚
Hope you like it here. Thanks for visiting
We love it in Malaysia, thank you so much for watching and commenting 💚
This video remind me of the malaysia Day. Been following you since Malaysia Day last year. Good job guys and keep up with the content exploring malaysia.
Thank you so much for following our journey all this time! It's such dedication and we appreciate your support 🥰 we love Malaysia so much, and can't wait to bring out more videos during Eid! 😃❤️
for me..fasting is lot easier while at work..while at home,it like torture..haha..watching my kid eat, drinking cold water from coway.. hot day + cold white water just so tempting.. so i prefer working..😂
Hahah, that must be so difficult with your kid there but keep going, keep strong! 😂😂
Happy for both of you
Thank you so much, it was such an honour to be invited to share Iftar there. ☺
Awesome.. Nice exp so far...hope u enjoyed the hospitality..
We certainly did, such kindness 💚
Thank u for learning about Islam. Do visit our beautiful mosques too. After ur visit to Malaysia at least u ll no longer associate muslims with terrorists n oppression. Please support us to boycott products n companies that participate in the genocide of the Palestinians. May Allah swt guide u.
We didn't associate Muslims that way in the first place and understand it's a very small minority who are extremists. Unfortunately, the media portray it poorly which is why the west has that perception.
Thank you for watching, it was nice to learn about your culture and religion ❤️
Salam Ramadan .. 🤲🏼
From Singapore 🇸🇬
Happy Ramadhan to you also! Thank you for watching! ☺️
Hope you guys enjoyed your food. 2 weeks to go before Eid celebration.
It was great! Maybe a bit on the spicy side for Emma though! 😅 We're looking forward to Eid! 😊
Look out for the Open house events organized by the Prime Minister
@@bakafrayaborja896 perhaps pmx cut cost. No open house
Ramadhan month is not only about can't eat & drink but spread kindness also will give big reward. Fasting is about feeling for the poor and help them with foods & drinks. But the real event is on eid when fasting month is end. U both should stay till eid start so can go to 'open house'for hari Raya. It's less than 2 weeks from now 😊
They are good morals to live by. We will be around for Eid and can't wait! Just looking into whether we can join an open house somewhere or even at the prime ministers one? 😁
@@DisappearforDays that's great!
next hari raya on 10 april.. buy baju melayu for jacob and emma wear baju kurung there going to be a huge feast in each house open house...

There is no such thing as bad timing for cendol is there 😂😂

Thank you for watching! It was such a nice evening ☺️
If you come again next year in ramadhan, you can try iftar at mosque. There also free and have alot kind of food.
We'll have to, which mosques hold Iftar? Are there any specific ones, or is it every one? ☺️
Love your video ❤
Thank you so much! ☺️❤️

Thank you for watching! ❤️❤️
US and israelis probably hate this huhu. Videos about malaysia, i mean. Malaysia has been pro-palestine and criticizing the us and israel since Tun M. The most epic one i would say the malaysia troll on twitter of israelis defence thingy account not long ago.
ANYWAY, i am more than happy that you find it appreciated and welcomed coming here, during ramadan especially 🎉
Thank you! We feel so welcomed here, it's such a good atmosphere during Ramadan also! 😃❤️

Kita tidak akan miskin dengan bersedekah. Dan diakhirat akan dapat balasan yang lebih baik
It's good morals to have, thank you for explaining 😊❤️
Both of you should find some local muslim frens n celebrate *Hari Raya* with them.U should try how Muslim celebrate their victory after a month of fasting in Ramadan. Its very intetesting becos each state has their own way of celebrating n delicacies when *Hari Raya* .In Islam its a must to do good, to be good n helping others .As *musafir* or traveller like both of you its a benifit for us , like what muslim schoolar said , *Those who did good things , it follow u till you r dead*
They are good morals to live by! Hopefully we can find somewhere to celebrate Hari Raya as it seems like such a great occasion, and the open houses look amazing!

Sharing in Ramadan is very encourage in Islam. The person who practicing this will DEFINATELY will be showered with feel good feeling that make the body to produce endorphin.
The other thing about fasting is you will feel the joyful and happiness feeling that unable to describe when you open your fast. You need to try it for yourself.
Thank you for your comment. We are actually attempting to fast today 😅 Keep your eyes peeled for the video soon! Do you have any tips for us? 💚
