- Join us for another China VLOG as we take one of the world's most beautiful boat rides on Hangzhou's West Lake. Despite the rain, this was still an incredible experience; like sailing in an ink painting. Plus, we couldn't get over how clean it was compared to the current state of rivers and waterways back in the UK.

Loved the singing at the end! I'm sure the lotus flowers and egret were stunning to see in person! All of the bridges and the area with the drooping Weeping Willow-like branches were so pretty!

Great to see you share this video. Most people in Europe and US think most lakes and rivers in China are polluted badly and should avoid eating imported fish from China

Han Meimei is the most elegant mum than ever
I was in Hangzhou last week. I think anyone that's serious with their gardening should go visit this city, go visit all the temples on the mountains and all the gardens that goes with them. The only issue I had was there were too many people, very chaotic, although, it was the labour day holidays and I was one of those people adding to the problem so I guess I don't have the right to complain.

I had been there several months ago (from Hong Kong). The most beautiful and serene spot is the small island at the centre of the lake.

The most beautiful thing about West Lake is the faint mist when it rains, the looming beauty. What the rower said is that there were many love stories in the West Lake in the past, and they all happened under this kind of light rain, like a beautiful ancient Chinese landscape painting.

I did a summer semester at Zhejiang University in Hangzhou and it was one of the most magical experiences of my life. My morning walks through the tea fields were amazing.
Our next video goes to some tea terraces.

Seeing it reminded me of my trip to West Lake about 20 years ago. The lake was already very well maintained and managed then. But I went by bike mostly around the lake and roads cut through the lake. It was a short visit for less than a day so I didn't get time to explore. If I go again definitely will try the boating.

It really is quite nice now... it was still pretty 20 years ago but before the massive dredging project, you might have been put off a little by the smell of West Lake back then. So around 2001 they started the dredging project, removing over a meter of collected sludge, silt, and mud from the ever-shallowing West Lake, and made a tunnel connecting it to Qiantang river, as well as expanding the wetlands of Inner West Lake area(west of West Lake's Yanggongdi).
and people(mostly domestic tourists) do litter a little bit, but the clean up crews do a fantastic job of beautifying the city.

@@sunnywu2464 yes, the change has been incredible to witness. even Hong Kong. Victoria Harbour had a pretty bad smell up to the 90''s. it wasn't until the last couple years before the Handover when they decided they need to clean up to give themselves a better image as the former evil landlords.
