I use Kerosene to clean my chain and wheels. I use it on my wheels too because it's really good at picking up the chain grease, then I just rinse it off with water. Then I usually clean the bike after too, so I go over the wheels again with Mothers Car Wash and Wax. I clean and lube my chain about every week to two weeks, because that's how often I clean my bike.

Thanks for the video. Gonna use your method on my 2017 Versys 650. Looks like a good method for chain maintenance to me !

The quieter music is a big improvement, sometimes it’s hard to focus on what you’re saying when it’s too loud

Will you make a video of a chain adjustment on the Z650.

Here's how to do that on my Ninja 650. Same way applies to the Z650. th-cam.com/video/L3EbT5d8ap8/w-d-xo.html

As mentioned...be very careful with rags and fingers when doing this. The first time you accidentally pinch your fingers between the chain and sprocket WILL BE memorable.

Perfect! I would in adition to what you are doing, use a newspaper. Fold it open with half on the ground for support and soaking. The other half vertical up between the chain and the thire/bike. Guaranteed no mess of products where you do not want it. Best regards👍

Or just do it outside.😁 Also WD is a lubricant & made from petroleum, regardless of what anyone says. It may not be the best but it does work.

Hi Tremonte! Was wondering....how many miles till you have to replace the chain? Will you post a video on how to do it? I am a newbie and bought the same bike, i am a DIY guy so seeing how that is done would be incredibly helpful. Hope to hear from you!
    Cheers!

Around the 20k mark for most chain replacement. The orings start getting wore down a bit much at that point. Same procedure for the Z650

Where did you get your front fork and rear swingarm sliders and your rear wheel spools?

Why is my z650 upper chain is .1 inch from touching the swing arm? Is your bike like this ?

Factory chains are crap. I usually replace with a good DID gold chain in a few titans miles. Cheap chains wear out sprockets quickly.

How often do you clean the chain?

James Carballo it varies by how much build up it has. Usually a thousand miles or so. I do apply more lube every couple hundred though.
