Keep up the great videos! I just got my bike on Wednesday and only managed to take her out twice since I rode her home. So far, i'm loving it. Very easy to ride (this is my first bike). I do notice a lot of engine braking when down shifting. Sometimes I find the throttle to be a little bit choppy when riding at low rpms (not lugging the engine). I plan on bringing the bike back in for the 1st service and I'm going to look into Motul as well. I usually use that for my VW Jetta and It's definitely quality oil. Btw, do you use 91 octane gas? The owner's manual only calls for 87 but my dealer suggested 91.
What motul oil would you recommemed or peraonally use. 7100 or 300v? I Really like all your videos. I have kawi z800 and there is no channel on youtube like yours which provides so much helpful info about bikes. Keep making these maintainance videos. Really appreciate all your work.
Thanks for the videos, all very informative. I ride a 2017 Ninja 650 (mechanically the same as the z650) and you're a great resource for these bikes. Quick question for you: when you're engine braking on your bike do you have a rattling sound around the clutch area? Mine seems to rattle a bit and I'm not sure if its normal or if I should take it in.
Hey man, I appreciate these videos. I just bought a brand new 2017 z650 last week, (my first bike!) and its great to have some sort of guidance from someone experienced. Anyways, I wanted to ask you for some quick advice on maintenance if you don't mind sparing some time for a noob lol. I'm not very equipped tool-wise and have virtually no mechanical background so I'm considering getting a pre-paid maintenance package my dealer offered me. Its basically 1000$ up front and I'm covered for all maintenances up to 15k miles or 3 years, whichever comes first. And at the rate I've been riding I'll get there in less than 2 years...so on one hand it's nice to think that I won't have to deal with maintenance but on the other I would be paying that on a consistent basis if I decide to keep the bike long term and not do any of the maintenance myself. I guess my problem is that I can't gauge how much I would be overpaying by getting that package compared to doing half of the maintenance myself and only bringing it in when necessary...any opinions would be really helpful thanks!
Those maintenance plans are designed for the dealership to make money, not to help you out. Find an independent shop for when you need anything major and do your own basic service. Oil, filters etc.
dude ur videos are awesome.. such honest reviews. and bro i just want to know that yoshimura exhaust increased ur ground clearance or not? and yoshimura exhaust is good for ur engine or i just have to change the setting.. thanks in advance
have you ever ridden a harley Davidson? if u have.. then what ur thoughts about Harley Davidson compared to kawasaki? is it good or bad? anything u feel about the difference..
What about new bike? It has warranty, I have to get it to the dealer after each x thousadnd. Can I do these stuffs you explain and the warranty and anger of the servicepeople would stay?
This channel is so helpful man! Thank you for making these videos
You're welcome!
I bought my z650 last Saturday and I'm up to 465 miles. Been a fun bike so far.
Excellent touch on that tire play vertically. That is reality at its best. You just know all those small things, keep up the good work!
Thanks Tremonte. Can you maybe show in a clip how to adjust the spring preload adjuster? The manual is very bad on this one ...
It's a pain to do with the tool that comes with the bike. I'll see if I can get around to it eventually.

I use 93 octane, or 89+ non-ethanol. Which ever is availble where I'm at.

Check the rear pillion. Mine rattles sometimes. Just press down on it next time you're out.
Thanks man! Just picked mine up

thanks for the quick reply brother! ill look for an indie shop
Could you tell me what side mirrors you are using ?

The clearance is about the same. You don't have to change anything with the Yoshimura exhaust.
okay man! some aftermarket exhaust are not healthy for the engine.. u have such a great test.. that exhaust is awesome.
You're welcome. I wanted to make sure how the bike responded to each mod. That's why I dyno between everything I do.
that's cool..

What mirror kit do you have on that bike?
Hi, how many litres of oil should i use after i change the oil filter?
What about new bike? It has warranty, I have to get it to the dealer after each x thousadnd. Can I do these stuffs you explain and the warranty and anger of the servicepeople would stay?
You can do the majority of all the work yourself. Just make sure to keep receipts, and dates noted in the back of the owners manual for record.
