I swear mrs october us the same as me. I cried just like her when i watched it the first time. When the phoenix bird flies away, it broke me, Dumbledore is really gone.
Snape rolling with valdermort even tho being a half-blood is like Hitler preaching that blonde hair blue eyes even tho himself didn't have blonde hair or blue eyes
I've seen it dozens of times and I've seen just as many reactions to it and I cry every time. The music swelling when everyone's wands lift up in solidarity and all their faces so solemn you can feel the weight of what he meant to everyone.
Maggie Smith (McGonagall), who passed away recently, was actually going through cancer treatment while filming this. Daniel Radcliffe and Helena Bonham Carter (Bellatrix) both kept watch over her. Helena did her first movie with Maggie, and has known her since she was 17. Dan also did a Dickens special with her when he was young. Maggie was the one who vouched for him to get the role of Harry Potter.
Yeah, Helen McCrory(Narcissa Malfoy) also eventually passed away from breast cancer recently in 2021. We've lost a lot over the years since these films came out and it breaks my heart
One thing that never made it from the books to the movies is that Harry gave Fred and George the money he won from the Tri wizard tournament so that they could open up their joke shop, under one condition, that they buy Ron new dress robes ( if you remember his dress robes from the yule ball they looked centuries old😂).
Keep in mind that Tom Riddle is also a half-blood. His father(Tom Sr.) was a muggle and his mother(Merope Gaunt) was a pureblooded witch. His mom gave his dad a love potion and that's how they ended up having Tom. Tom Sr. abandoned his wife after her love potion wore off and Merope died in shortly after giving birth. That's why Voldemort was an orphan and was found my Dumbledore
The books made the Half-Blood Prince mystery much clearer. In the books Harry was able to view some of Snapes memories, in which it was revealed that his father was a muggle and his mother was from the Prince wizarding family. That's why he styles himself the Half-Blood Prince. There were many other reveals that are really crucial to the story, but the movies put them off until the story can't progress further in a sensical fashion without them.
Voldermort is 1/2 blood, and so is Snape. Their mother's were witches. Snape's mother's maiden name was Prince, and he was proud of that side of the family. It was hinted at in the books that Snapes' father was abusive, and he didn't like magic.
@@joerosenman3480 I'm still confused about the half-blood stuff. Doesn't Harry count as a pure-blood since both his parents were wizards? Or does pure just mean your whole bloodline has no muggle genes whatsoever?
@@randomperson3119Well his mom was a muggle-born so it makes him a half blood, same way Hermione and Ron's children are half blood. Yes no muggle-born in your bloodline only then you'd be a pure blood, and i think there's like 21 such families, the number might be off
@ You know, you might be right. I don’t *think* grandparents count-that would make him a quarter-blood, er, Wizard (Harry didn’t think of himself as royalty and neither of his parents had the surname of Prince!) So much was made of Lily’s half-blood status I think I (incorrectly) transferred that down to Harry. Sorry if I caused any confusion; I think I jumped the gun here.
@@randomperson3119 The series kind of points out many times that the distinctions between pureblood or half blood are really silly. Since both Harry's parents were magical most wouldn't consider him half blood, but purists in the magical world, like those from old pureblood families or followers of Voldemort in general, would say he is, but Voldemort and his right hand man Snape are both genius level wizards and both have a non-magical father and magical mother. Hermione is also both a prodigy and highly motivated to study and both her parents are muggles. Hagrid even says that pureblood families most likely have some muggle ancestry at some point and they either no longer remember it or they covered it up.
Snape being the Half-Blood Prince is so brilliant because it fits so well and it really hints at how competent he is and why he was able to ingratiate himself with both Voldemort and Dumbledore. Dude was developing techniques to improve potions recipes and inventing spells as a student. He was the potions teacher for so long and he was a potions prodigy. It also reveals that Snape is half-blood, like Voldemort, drawing a connection between them.
Snape isn't half blood though. Half-blood prince refers to his mom's maiden name of prince I believe. Both his parents were wizards but he's a half-blood PRINCE. As in half his blood is from the PRINCE family.
@justsomepunk8408 Severus's father was a muggle and his mother was from the Prince family who are "pureblood" wizards. She got disinherited because she chose to marry a muggle, but when the father found out that Severus and his mother were both magical he turned to alcohol and became abusive. Severus hated his father and idolized only the magical half of his ancestry, very similar to Voldemort. Snape and Voldemort have a lot in common except for one key difference which is a spoiler so I won't go into that.
Considering how close Snape grew up to another young witch, I think the movies would have done well to show a bit more of that backstory, but we can always hope that the HBO series will nail these character development arcs that the movies neglected.
Snape is known as the half blood prince because his mothers maiden name was Prince and he was a half blood. Also Voldemort chose Draco to kill dumbledore as punishment for Lucious failing to get the prophecy from order of the phoenix. Voldemort knew Draco would fail and when he did he would Kill Draco to punish Lucious. Malfoys mother knew this which is why she made the unbreakable vow with snape.
3:28 Prof Slughorn is another GoT character. He was the Archmaester at the Citadel that Sam assisted. 37:04 loving the pregnant Mrs. O. encouraging Snape to employ corporal punishment on minors, lol.😂 1:06:34 the only person to survive Avada Kedavra is Harry. 1:10:15 Fawkes flying overhead gets me in the end every time and I tear up, just like Mrs. O. 1:25:41 read the books via Audible while working.
Been following you guys since the beginning. Yall really have some good takes and guesses at the way forward. Exactly where you need to be at this point 😉💯👊
FYI Dumbledore was 115 here so the kids weren't that far off in the beginning. There were 3 Black sisters who were Sirius' cousins. Narcissa Malfoy, Bellatrix Lestrange and Andromeda Tonks. Andromeda was shunned by the family for marrying a muggleborn. Draco and (Don't call me Nymphadora) Tonks are cousins. There were more memories about Voldemort in the book that explain some things that happened a lot better. When Dumbledore met him as a child in the book he said "I can make bad things happen to people who *annoy* me.". Much darker than saying "people who are mean to me" in the movie. Ron had never kissed a girl before Lavender and we all know he has confidence and self-esteem issues. Also it's not like Hermione was making it obvious to Ron that she likes him. They all know that Ron is clueless socially especially when it comes to girls. There was more to Harry and Cho breaking up in the books. Especially since she wasn't the one who tattled to Umbridge but her friend. All Cho wanted to do most of the time was cry and talk about Cedric. Then she got jealous over Harry needing to meet with Hermione. Don't expect to see most of what happened at the Burrow in the book. The screenwriter and director made that up fir gratuitous action...and to give Helena Bonham Carter more screen time since Bellatrix isn't actually in this book that much.
And they completely cut out the battle that occurs later on between death eaters, Dumbledore’s army, and The Order below where Dumbledore is about to die.
It’s so beautiful getting to see two people experience these movies for the first time! So glad you’re both enjoying this series that has meant so much to so many! 💕
This is my absolute favorite Harry Potter movie. It twists you so many ways and just when you think you have it figured out, "you dare use my own spells against me?". I love the Deathly Hallows but this one hits me every time. Such a great movie.
in the books draco was being helped by crabbe and goyle. crabbe and goyle uses the polyjuice potion to transform into first year girls. draco is in the room of requirement fixing that thing while crabbe and goyle watch over for draco. in case somebody arrives they drop the instruments in their hand to make sound and alert draco
I think something that's harder to get from the movies is that Voldemort is in his 70s. Snape is in his late 30th, as would Harry's parents have been if they were alive.
With regard to the unbreakable vow, Snape is bound to do what was asked of him or he will die if he fails to do so. I believe they go over it more in the book, forget exactly which chapter.
Bellatrix is played by Helena Bonham Carter, she is a prolific Academy Award nominated actress, she started out as the "corset queen" for all the British period dramas she used to do, before moving on to odder roles (she was with Tim Burton for many years)...she's done everything from Fight Club to Hamlet to Sweeney Todd, etc. etc.
Love your reactions, can't wait for you to finish the series. Luna is such a great character too, if you didn't realize, she's actually in Ravenclaw but she loves he friends and shows her support by wearing that Lion suit to the Gryffindor game.
the movies havent shown in but the weasly twins were earning a real lot. they were making a considerable amount of money by their joke shop but their actual business was in a secret room in the joke shop. they were producing hand protecting gloves and head protecting hats. these things were ordered by the ministry in a huge amount because many ministry officials couldnt produce a good shield charm. only harry was allowed anything from the joke shop for free because starting money for weasley twins business was provided by harry.
I love y'alls reactions and I love that you kinda miss some things that us who watch several times have picked up on. like y'all will ask questions that were answered literally the second before and I find it so funny!! It is really what makes you guys unique to me because the questions you guys ask allow for conversations and engagement with your viewers!!
Butter Beer does have a mild alcohol content similar to non-alcoholic beers in the USA but it is considered safe for children to drink. It is described as tasting like butterscotch. I always thought of it like their version of root beer.
Remember, they are in Scotland. There's no drinking age over there. They are getting intoxicated when drinking butterbeer. Buttered Beer was a real drink back in the Tudor era.
Legal drinking age for beer and wine in the uk is also 16, any other more hard liquors is 18. By the time they filmed this movie all the main cast were already 18/19
BTW, the movie doesn’t explain it but Snape’s mother was Eileen Prince. She married a muggle named Tobias Snape. Hence Professor Snape is the Half-Blood Prince.
I remember reading this book when it came out and balling my eyes out in my room. My mom came in and asked me "What's wrong?' And I replied"Dumbledore died!" I don't think she fully understood my connection to this story. I even painted a picture in memoriam to Dumbledore. I was so invested in these books. ❤⚡
Note on quidditch. The game doesn't end until someone catches the snitch. And even the team who caught it can lose if their total score isn't high enough. Typically if it's caught early, that team wins cause it's worth 150 points. But some matches go on for days. The longest match lasted 3 months.
1:19:35 Something to keep in mind, even if Voldemort split his soul into 7 pieces, one of those pieces must remain in his own body, so there would be potentially 6 horcruxes. That is... If he intended 7.
Mr. October did not just describe Luna's unique vibe as "half dead"!? 😂😭😂 Ooohhh...oh my God I can't stop laughing... that was brilliant! 😂😭😂. How about "ethereal"? That's how I think of Luna...she has an ethereal quality.
I was already 21when the first movie came out but after i watched it i was hooked and watched all the others on opening day. This and TLOTR takes me back to a happier time.
the "prophecy" from "Order of the Phoenix". "neither can live while the other survives." And the Weasley Twins business is funded by Harry's winnings from Tri Wizard tournament. (you have to read the books to know that)
I love your reactions and I always click the notification! But there aren't two separate worlds in Harry Potter. Wizards and Muggles live in the same world, but wizards use magic to conceal themselves and their activities from Muggles. The Death Eaters aren’t spilling into the 'Muggle world'-everything happens within the same shared reality. Maybe you've already explained that you know this, my memory is bad 😆 but keep up the good work, I always look forward to you guys videos 🥳
I don’t think they mean it literally as a different world. Wizards in the book and movies refer to it as the “muggle world”. Snape even says, “you’ve risked the exposure of our world”. Muggles and wizards for the most part live completely differently and separately so it is basically “another world”
If you like the memories and if you like books then the sixth book is PACKED with this stuff. We specifically learn a lot about Voldemort's family (in search for clues as to what he could have made into a horcrux). Also if you know Dumbledore's history before watching him drink the potion, his words hurt a lot because you know what he actually means by them.
*Professor Dumbledore's death was one of the most traumatic for Harry to witness. Right alongside his parents' murder at the hands of Voldemort when he was 15 months old, Cedric Diggory at the ratty (pun fully intended) hands of Wormtail during the last task of the Triwizard Tournament in that graveyard, and Sirius dying at the hands of his psychotic cousin Bellatrix Lestrange before he disappeared into the Veil in the Ministry Of Magic. Also, this is one of the few times Ron is shown to be intelligent in the movies. Three scenes in particular solidify my belief:*
*The wizard's chess scenes from Philosopher's Stone, as well as reminding Hermione that she was a witch when she froze up when they were in the Devil's Snare chamber (book version)* *The good questions he was asking in "Chamber Of Secrets" when Harry found that crumpled up book page regarding the basilisk in Hermione's hand.* *The scene on the Hogwarts Express where he's explaining the Unbreakable Vow to Harry in "Half-Blood Prince"*
I am always surprised when people watch both the Potter films and the LOTR they never seem to connect the fact that the Horcrux idea came from the One Ring. You know this because in an early scene between Gandolf and Frodo when Gandolf tells him that the Dark Lord's soul was tied to the One Ring (horcrux) and even in the opening monologue we are told that into the One Ring the Dark Lord poured into it his anger and hate and malice.
@@WilAdams Probably because it never said "horcrux" in LOTR and folks tend to not try and draw too many direct connections to other stories - an effort to not draw comparisons. Maybe they think of these things off camera. Who knows
When I read the first 3 books many years ago, I got the impression that butter beer was like root beer. I never considered it was alcohol. Great reaction!👍🏾
I mean, Snape did throw himself in front of Harry to protect him from a werewolf. He's always tried to save Harry, despite his PTSD from being bullied by James and letting that cloud his treatment of Harry.
When did they say Snape had PTSD? I remember them both annoying each other and trading shots but I don't recall PTSD. Also, cloud his treatment of Harry? At least in the books, Snapes treatment of Harry was 100 times worse than the movies. Dumbledore wasn't far off when he said to Snape, he'll have soon spent as much time in detention as out. He rode Harry like a horse.
@tapoemt3995 And James was a horrific bully that had no problem SA-ing Snape by stripping his clothes and hexing/hurting random kids all over Hogwarts just cause he could.
Long post What was missing/not detailed enough btwn Order of the Phoenix and Half-Blood Prince: 1) The Prophecy: "The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord approaches... born to those who have thrice defied him, born as the seventh month dies... and the Dark Lord will mark him as his equal, but he will have power the Dark Lord knows not... and either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives... the one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord will be born as the seventh month dies...." In the books, while Harry and Dumbledore's Army, they didn't hear the prophecy, it broke durring the battle with the Order vs the Death Eaters. Harry was taken immediately to Dumbledore's office after the fight and he rages out over Sirius' death, with Dumbledore sitting there waiting for him to finish saying "you're not mad at me enough". Dumbledore finally gives some POV of him not telling Harry info he needed ever since Hogwarts day 1. "You first arrived at school, not as whole as I'd wish but healthy and full of life. After confronting Quirrell you asked me why Voldemort came after you. 'Too young, 11 is too young' I decided, for me to burden you with this info.... but each year you got older and I was running out of excuses" He then uses that memory bank to pull out Prof. Trelawney (big glasses, fortune teller teacher) who recites the prophecy.. during her job interview for Hogwarts. Dumbledore explains that there was a spy (in HBP it was revealed to be Snape) who heard half of the prophecy (everything before "he will mark him as his equal) and was thrown out and told Voldy. Voldy decided to act and - crucial bit - he had a choice between 2 boys who were born under the same criteria: Harry was born July 31... but Neville was July 30. Voldy might've seen more of himself in Harry... his mom was muggle-born and so technically makes Harry a half-blood... much like Voldy is half-blood (muggle father) and Snape is also half (muggle father). Throughout HBP Harry and Dumbledore would talk about choices regarding the prophecy, Harry thinks he has to fight/kill Voldy.. Dumbledore emphasizes that Voldy felt like he had to and is a slave to the prophecy.. but Harry chooses to fight, much like with the Sorting Hat. 2) Memories of Tom Riddle: I'll cut this alot... one memory shows Voldy's mom - Merope Gaunt - living with her father Marvolo and brother Morfin. It also reveals that they were basically neighbors to the Riddles (remember the graveyard/Voldy resurrection scene - it's the Riddles' property). Marvolo shows off a ring with the "Peverall crest" on it and Slytherin's locket around Merope's neck. Dumbledore and Harry spend a lot of time together, talking about the prophecy and the memories.. hypothesizing about the gaps between each memory and talking about Voldy's tendencies for why he used magic cruely against people - revenge, gain, display of power, etc. The orphanage makes young Tom a bit more sinister and has an instinct to collect "trophies" for significant moments - this ties to him making horcruxes based on special occasions/murders and the items are of significant magical importance/connections. Tom as a 16 year old shows up in the Gaunt shack, learns about his uncle Morfin who rants about Merope taking a locket and ring.. and sleeping with rich muggle who lives around the way. Then Morfin wakes up with Ministry officials asking him about a triple homicide at the Riddle house (Tom Riddle Sr., his wife, and his father) and Morfin has memories and his wand shows evidence of doing said murder.. interesting (this murder was detailed a bit in the 1st chapter of Goblet of Fire, from the muggles' perspective). Tom leaves school and works at a shop, finding a longterm client has 2 treasures...a locket and a cup from Helga Hufflepuff herself. Suddenly she turns out dead and the house-elf POSSIBLY poisoned her but she's an old elf and is seemingly confused. Tom comes back to Hogwarts roughly 10 years after graduating, looking a bit less handsome than before but not quite monstrous, asking now-Headmaster Dumbledore for a job. He's rejected...that position is now cursed (what teaching position is this??). 3) Draco's plan/Banishing Cabinet: Draco was trying to fix that cabinet, the visual cues were the apple not coming back whole and eventually the birds being dead. Meaning all year he couldn't get it right. In the books, he had Crabbe and Goyle keep watch over the door of the Room but usually they had Polyjuice poition to be a bunch of different 1st years usually. Dobby (hired but Dumbledore in Goblet of Fire) and Kreacher (now under Harry's servitude because Sirius willed the house to Harry) help Harry discover this. When Dumbledore and Harry go to the cave, Harry has some liquid luck left, gives it to his Gryffindor people (Ron, Hermione, Ginny, Neville) and called out for Dumbledore's Army to help. The entire school year, Order members are the security folks at Hogwarts. When Draco and the Death Eaters come... there's actually a big fight happening before and after Dumbledore's death. There's also an entire chapter dedicated to Dumbledore's funeral and how Fawkes the Phoenix flies away...forever
I noticed in the films (especially this one) Ginny seems like the dominant one in her relationship with Harry, like in the kiss scene she keeps gently telling him what to do like she's soothing a child and Harry just dutifully obeys her without question.
Cho’s in the movie; she’s more of an extra in the movie. She’s seen cheering Gryffindor during the Quidditch match and at the end of the film when everyone is raising their wands to get rid of the Dark Mark
The actor who plays Ron was not being taxed enough by the UK government and they retroactively charged him for the taxes that they had not asked for, which ended up being a lot of money. He has taken it to court several times but finally lost his last appeal and is now being asked to pay the money. It’s not a very fair situation in my book, but I guess give Caesar’s what is Caesar’s.
Wizard world is getting darker and darker. Such a great moment "Im the Half-Blood Prince". Snape teaches us the mind is where everything resides, so its important to protect it. Awww, sending virtual hugs for the tears. Thanx so much, taje care, Peace
I remember reading online that Snape gave himself the nickname half-blood Prince because his mothers maiden name is Prince and one of his parents is a witch/wizard and his other parent is a muggle, I don’t remember which parent has magical powers and which is the muggle
His mother was a witch and father a muggle. His father left his mother after he found out if I remember correctly. Snape wanted to be linked to the magical part of the family hence he called himself Prince, as this was this more important 'half'
cormack missing a goal due to hermione wasn't the only reason harry didnt consider him in the team. it was also because cormack was a very arrogant player. in between the trials he was telling the other players to how to play and how to not. also during the match he was snatched a club from the beaters becz he thought they werent doing it right. he shot the bludger right at harry. harry fell unconcious and they lost the match.
I love you guys.❤❤❤ I want to comment on the question of what movie did Helena Bonham Carter (Bellatrix) played in with Johnny Depp. It's a few of them but my all time fav is "Sweeney Todd demon of fleet street". It's a musical. I know your not big on musical, but I know you guys will love this one. Please check this one out. Also Vecna, Jamie Campbell Bower "Stranger Things" plays in this one.
EASILY my favourite reaction channel, I get so excited when I see you've uploaded, especially due to Harry Potter! I cannot wait for the next two reaction videos :D stay awesome guys from the UK❤
I'm sure it's been commented on but the movie with Jonny Depp and Helen bonhen carter is Sweeney Todd I understand that musicals aren't everyone's cup of tea but it's a Fantastic story! And if you are able to bring yourself to see it I'm definitely gonna be there to watch it ! Keep up the great work 👍
Hey guys, another great reaction. No matter how many times I see "Dumbledore's death" scene, I end up crying. When I read the book, I bawled which made it very difficult to get thru. Ok, gonna try to explain why Snape as a Half-blood is able to be a Death Eater & part of Voldemort's regime. Voldemort, himself, is a Half-blood. If u think back to 16 yr old Tom Riddle in The Chamber Of Secrets he said to Harry "Do u honestly think I'd keep my filthy muggle father's name?", right before he revealed himself as Voldemort. Voldemort's mother was a Pure-blood witch from the Gaunt family which was descended from Salazar Slytherin. She fell in love w/a handsome rich young muggle named Tom Riddle, so Voldemort is a Jr. She enchanted Tom so that he would love her. She got pregnant. She felt that he would continue to love her after removing the enchantment because she was pregnant w/his child. She was wrong. Snape's situation is similar in the sense that this mother had a child w/a muggle. Anyway, in Voldemort's regime Pure-bloods & Half-bloods are welcome as long as they hold the same ideals which is No Muggle-borns Allowed, & No Association With Muggles. A few Pure-blood wizarding families didn't want to even include Half-bloods, like the Gaunt family which have died out & the Black family which happened to be Sirius, Bellatrix & Narcissa's (Draco's mom) family. If a family member of the Black family married a muggle or Muggle-born, married what they call "blood traitors" like the Weasleys, or went against the family, then they were removed from the family tree & in most cases disinherited. Bellatrix & Narcissa have another sister Andromeda, who married Ted Tonks, a Muggle-born wizard. They are the parents of Nymphadora Tonks (Osha from GoT). Andromeda was removed from the family tree & disinherited. Sirius was also taken off the family tree because he went against his family's beliefs & he was placed into Gryffindor after many generations of Slytherins. He defied his family at every turn. He ran away from home at 16. Anyway, unlike those extreme families, Voldemort's regime accepts Half-bloods. Whew! Went the long way on that one😄 U guys, are doing great & can't wait to watch the last 2 movie reactions.😊
Regarding Voldemort not having a nose, it's because of him meddling with the dark arts, with each horcrux he created it somehow changed his appearance, it was said by Dumbledore "Yet it fitted, Lord Voldemort had seemed to grow less human with the passing years, and the transformation he had undergone seemed to me to be only explicable if his soul was mutilated beyond the realms of what we might call usual evil". He was described as handsome when he was younger.
I think maybe the movies did tone Ginny down in order to be less obvious about where its going lol She was the one having the final showdown with Harry in Chamber of Secrets. Her first year at school. Then you see her being quite good in Order of the Phoenix. Which she is. She very much has leadership status in Dumbledore´s army, together with Harry. In this one you could see her next to Harry during the team´s trials. She is supposed to be the actual captain by now :) You can see her being invited to Slughorn´s parties which also hints she is considered top class. She is way more popular / outgoing in the book. So....its really like Harry is the top dog and she is the top girl at school. Doesnt hurt they are close due to Harry and her family being so close. It likely stopped Harry from making an early move on her ;) Because....yeah.....best friend´s younger sister. But its more clear in the book that Harry has to be attracted towards her :) Maybe the movies did consciously tone her down a bit so they could go through Cho´s plot. As for Cho, she is 1 year older vs Harry. So, if they decide to avoid each other, its not that hard. She is still around. But they did brake up and Harry realizes he really wants Ginny. Its very standard teenage romance. Harry is top dog so he gets to date an older popular girl. However, Ginny is comming up fast and she eventually takes the place of most popular girl around. By which time, Harry and Ginny being close, its almost unavoidable. Her family will love it, she has been confortable at Harry´s side since she ever met him. Its maybe a bit too obvious :)
I’ve been waiting for this movie reaction to drop my favorite tidbit that if you’re paying attention you’ll pick up on next time you watch the series. In PoA, when Snape confronts Remus and Sirius in the shrieking shack and Sirius tosses out the quip “why don’t you go and play with your chemistry set” towards Snape, Snape being the half blood Prince makes sense and it’s a foreshadowing of what’s to come for his storyline imo. Wizards and witches grow up with potion sets meanwhile muggles would call them chemistry sets, even the class at hogwarts is called potions and not chemistry. I always thought that it was a really clever play on words especially since Snape ended up being insanely good at potions. I hope that made sense.
Mrs. O, the movie you are thinking of at the end is "Sweeney Todd", and according to google, butterbeer is "a simple brown sugar and butter syrup gets topped with cream soda and a dollop of cream"
7 pieces of soul. 6 horcrxes, and one piece still in Voldemort. Destroy the 6, and you can kill him. Also the musical you’re thinking of is Sweeney Todd, where Johnny Depp played a murderous barber, and Helena Bonham Carter (Beletrix) played his love interest/ “Business partner.” Not to be confused with Edward Scissor Hands which came out in 1990 I believe, and starred Depp and Winona Ryder. HBP is my favorite HP book, and it saddens me how much was cut. But even with that, I think it’s still one of my favorite movies. I love the scene after the burial, especially when Harry reaches out to steady Slughorn’s hand.
The actress that played Luna was a big fan of the books, long before the movies came out. She became a pen pal of JK Rowling. She always identified with Luna.
How many tears did you shed in this one?
The music alone made you have the feels after that Astronomy fiasco.....
I haven’t cried since i was 15 so none
And Maggie Smith passed away on 27th 2024 same day as Michael Gambon who died on 27th 2023
Thanks for the info. I did not know some of that stuff.
I remember seeing David copperfield on pbs when I was younger ! Wow I never connected Thats where those two first worked together
Mrs October’s tears lifted this reaction to another level. Dumbledore’s death was really hard and we all felt it.
"Maybe she Cho-ooose to leave" gurl 💀💀💀💀💀💀
I actually groaned out loud when she said it🤣🤣🤣
69th like, nice!

One thing that never made it from the books to the movies is that Harry gave Fred and George the money he won from the Tri wizard tournament so that they could open up their joke shop, under one condition, that they buy Ron new dress robes ( if you remember his dress robes from the yule ball they looked centuries old😂).
Slughorn is hilarious. Love his character. "All hands on deck, Granger! Good to see you, Wallenby!"
Slughorn is the best 😊
Every time I watch your videos I'm reminded that True Love exists, you guys are so cute lol
this comment made us smile thank you so much
Even if so, it's not for everyone

Thanks for that. I'd forgotten the books. Time for a reread.
Well explained. The 6th movie leaves out a lot of important details relating to Snape and Tom Riddle.
God bless you my two lovelies...
Have a wonderful New Years Eve..may the good Lord keep his hand over you and your precious family...
I’ve never clicked a notification so quickly. You guys are the best ❤️ been loving this journey with yall, and congratulations to both of you!!
Nice first comment on the channel 😂
You two are so precious🥹
Your obvious and deep love for each other is one of the things that makes your videos so endearing❤️
Voldermort is 1/2 blood, and so is Snape. Their mother's were witches. Snape's mother's maiden name was Prince, and he was proud of that side of the family. It was hinted at in the books that Snapes' father was abusive, and he didn't like magic.
And so is Harry!
@@justsomepunk8408Snape's father was a muggle.
@@justsomepunk8408his father was a muggle
Snape is known as the half blood prince because his mothers maiden name was Prince and he was a half blood. Also Voldemort chose Draco to kill dumbledore as punishment for Lucious failing to get the prophecy from order of the phoenix. Voldemort knew Draco would fail and when he did he would
Kill Draco to punish Lucious. Malfoys mother knew this which is why she made the unbreakable vow with snape.
"She Cho---se to leave" is crazy LMAO
Best one! Hope you all are enjoying the ride 🤙🏻
Congrats on the pregnancy. Sending good vibes and well wishes for a smooth pregnancy
Voldermort has made it clear from the beginning that he must be the one to kill Harry.
Never realized that teen veldermort was played by nick from fear of the walking dead
The Prince's Tale in Deathly Hallows Pt 2 is gonna hit like freakin crack.
Y'all are adorable, been loving these reactions. Next one is even sadder I'm nervous for mrs. october!
the movies havent shown in but the weasly twins were earning a real lot. they were making a considerable amount of money by their joke shop but their actual business was in a secret room in the joke shop. they were producing hand protecting gloves and head protecting hats. these things were ordered by the ministry in a huge amount because many ministry officials couldnt produce a good shield charm. only harry was allowed anything from the joke shop for free because starting money for weasley twins business was provided by harry.
… (from winning the Tri-Wizard Tournament) …
This one is my favourite, followed closely by 8 and 3.
Absolutely !..number 7..8/pt 2..and 3...the best of the lot for me...
Btw Bellatrix, the girl you said snape had a crush on, is Draco's Aunt and the blond on in the room was his mother if you didnt guess
But they made it clear that they were buzzed when they left and Hermione put her arms around the boys as they walked.
@@scottlaughlin9897 Hermione is an extreme lightweight then
Btw Tom Riddle already knew about the horcrux he just wanted to know if you can do it multiple times
Watched this whole series with my kids once, and when Dumbledore died they lost all interest in finishing the movies.
Note on quidditch. The game doesn't end until someone catches the snitch. And even the team who caught it can lose if their total score isn't high enough. Typically if it's caught early, that team wins cause it's worth 150 points. But some matches go on for days. The longest match lasted 3 months.
The little ball is a pygmy puff. Love your reactions. Hang in there cause the last 2 are great.
Dumbledore revisiting his sister’s situation while in the cave.
"I am the half-blood prince." Right up there with Anakin's line. Great reaction guys.
Ginnie's pet is a pigmy puff a magical animal. Ginnie is just a year younger. Hope Mrs. O is feeling okay.
1:19:35 Something to keep in mind, even if Voldemort split his soul into 7 pieces, one of those pieces must remain in his own body, so there would be potentially 6 horcruxes. That is... If he intended 7.
This was how I convinced myself it worked when I was reading these before the last one came out. It was the plot twist of my lifetime lol
If anyone is considering audio books for “reading” the Harry Potter books, the unabridged version read by Jim Dale are wonderful.
Finally! Been waiting forever for this reaction this one is my favorite of the books and Alan Rickmans greatest character story arc for Snape love it
So sad how they made fun of Dumbledore’s age this movie but then he dies
Nose print in the apple after the bite is crazy Mrs.October 😂
Mr. October did not just describe Luna's unique vibe as "half dead"!? 😂😭😂 Ooohhh...oh my God I can't stop laughing... that was brilliant! 😂😭😂.
How about "ethereal"?
That's how I think of Luna...she has an ethereal quality.
Ms October be having some good theories damn
Muggles and wizards for the most part live completely differently and separately so it is basically “another world”
She was the queen of Hearts in the story of Alice in Wonderland and Depp was the Mad Hatter 1:20:49
"I can't picture snape in a romantic setting" 😂
If you like the memories and if you like books then the sixth book is PACKED with this stuff. We specifically learn a lot about Voldemort's family (in search for clues as to what he could have made into a horcrux). Also if you know Dumbledore's history before watching him drink the potion, his words hurt a lot because you know what he actually means by them.
This is the one book that changed the most compared to the book. Love the book. So many more memories from dumbledore
That shifting sand land rendition was spot on my friend 😂😂
BUTTERBEER IS REAL LIFE!
Disney world in Orlando, FL has Harry Potter land and the BUTTERBEER is to DIE for!! It’s really, really good …👍👊🤯💯🔥
*Professor Dumbledore's death was one of the most traumatic for Harry to witness.
*The wizard's chess scenes from Philosopher's Stone, as well as reminding Hermione that she was a witch when she froze up when they were in the Devil's Snare chamber (book version)*
*The good questions he was asking in "Chamber Of Secrets" when Harry found that crumpled up book page regarding the basilisk in Hermione's hand.*
*The scene on the Hogwarts Express where he's explaining the Unbreakable Vow to Harry in "Half-Blood Prince"*
Please watch Downton Abbey - Dame Maggie Smith is the absolute best. Loved her in HP but she's a beast as the Dowager ❤
I remember reading this death in the book. I SOBBED
The funeral in the book was BEAUTIFUL
50:29 I mean… it literally means “always cut”, so chances are it’ll, you know, *cut* in some way.
It's almost like literature has been taking ideas from others for 1000s of years...
@ true BUT my point is that even after seeing LOTR viewers don’t seem to make the connection
@@WilAdams Probably because it never said "horcrux" in LOTR and folks tend to not try and draw too many direct connections to other stories - an effort to not draw comparisons. Maybe they think of these things off camera. Who knows
A biiiig like for u guys
Ur one of very few people who i enjoy watching
Keep going
Specially that u dont skip many scenes
10:43 no it's not their mum it's Umbridge from previous movie
When I read the first 3 books many years ago, I got the impression that butter beer was like root beer. I never considered it was alcohol. Great reaction!👍🏾
Snape created Sectumsempra, a slicing curse that causes you to slowly bleed out. If Snape wasn't there Draco would've died on that floor👍🏼
@tapoemt3995 hyperbole, darling? Ever hear of it?
@@tapoemt3995So he treats the son of his bully horribly & constantly derides & bullies him?
That sure seems like PTSD to me..
@tapoemt3995 And James was a horrific bully that had no problem SA-ing Snape by stripping his clothes and hexing/hurting random kids all over Hogwarts just cause he could.
Long post
What was missing/not detailed enough btwn Order of the Phoenix and Half-Blood Prince:
1) The Prophecy: "The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord approaches... born to those who have thrice defied him, born as the seventh month dies... and the Dark Lord will mark him as his equal, but he will have power the Dark Lord knows not... and either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives... the one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord will be born as the seventh month dies...."
In the books, while Harry and Dumbledore's Army, they didn't hear the prophecy, it broke durring the battle with the Order vs the Death Eaters.
'Too young, 11 is too young' I decided, for me to burden you with this info.... but each year you got older and I was running out of excuses"
He then uses that memory bank to pull out Prof.
2) Memories of Tom Riddle:
I'll cut this alot... one memory shows Voldy's mom - Merope Gaunt - living with her father Marvolo and brother Morfin.
3) Draco's plan/Banishing Cabinet:
Draco was trying to fix that cabinet, the visual cues were the apple not coming back whole and eventually the birds being dead.
Demon barber of fleet street is the movie you mean with Depp and Helena Bonham Carter (Bellatrix)
Harry has got to have brain damage from how many times he’s unconscious in this series
We love a complex, well written villain! I’m so glad you ‘re loving the series so far, and I’m looking forward to the final 2 movies
I love you guys.❤❤❤
I want to comment on the question of what movie did Helena Bonham Carter (Bellatrix) played in with Johnny Depp. It's a few of them but my all time fav is "Sweeney Todd demon of fleet street". It's a musical. I know your not big on musical, but I know you guys will love this one. Please check this one out. Also Vecna, Jamie Campbell Bower "Stranger Things" plays in this one.
Heck yes I've been waiting on this one. My favorite of the series ❤
EASILY my favourite reaction channel, I get so excited when I see you've uploaded, especially due to Harry Potter! I cannot wait for the next two reaction videos :D stay awesome guys from the UK❤
Yes indeed. It does make 👀 Snape 👀 hypocritical for hating half bloods⚡
Just like with Order of the Phoenix, I saw this movie in theaters when my mom took me and my grandma (her mom) to go see it.
I'm sure it's been commented on but the movie with Jonny Depp and Helen bonhen carter is Sweeney Todd
I understand that musicals aren't everyone's cup of tea but it's a Fantastic story! And if you are able to bring yourself to see it I'm definitely gonna be there to watch it ! Keep up the great work 👍
Thanks, Tony! Thanks, Brooke! 🪄
Snape is halfblood so one magic and one muggle parent, so is Voldemort, his father was also a muggle and mother witch
I think maybe the movies did tone Ginny down in order to be less obvious about where its going lol
She was the one having the final showdown with Harry in Chamber of Secrets. Her first year at school.
Then you see her being quite good in Order of the Phoenix. Which she is. She very much has leadership status in Dumbledore´s army, together with Harry.
In this one you could see her next to Harry during the team´s trials. She is supposed to be the actual captain by now :)
You can see her being invited to Slughorn´s parties which also hints she is considered top class.
But its more clear in the book that Harry has to be attracted towards her :)
Maybe the movies did consciously tone her down a bit so they could go through Cho´s plot.
I don't know, usually when I'm biting an apple I don't leave a nose print...maybe you've been biting it hard?.....soooo funny.
Rupert put down his residual checks he gets from merchandise & all things Potter as income lol
It was Sweeney Todd with Depp and Helena BC, she was also in the musical film of Les Miserables.
They sell "butterbeer" at Universal Studios. It's like butterscotch soda. I think it's "beer" in the sense that root beer is "beer."
Half Blood Prince is a title Snape gave himself, its explained in the books. Basically, he is a Half Blood and his moms last name was Prince
I highly recommend that u guys watch the show From. It's my favorite show right now. U have 3 seasons to watch so far.
hell yeAH! BEEN WAITING FOR THIS ONE!
The actress that played Luna was a big fan of the books, long before the movies came out. She became a pen pal of JK Rowling. She always identified with Luna.
