Did you know that prince Forequaad was based on the evil prince from THE PRINCESS BRIDE..? And voiced perfectly by sir JOHN LITHGOW......or he should at least be recognised as a SIR.
I love the first two Shrek movies, they’re one of the best animated movies ever made. And I especially love the adult humor, but unfortunately Hollywood doesn’t like to make movies like this anymore. Hopefully one day that’ll change. If you pay close attention at the beginning when Shrek is telling the story from the book, they actually hint at the dragon being another cursed princess. Also, many of the people who worked on Shrek were actually former Disney animators
you could react to the karate kid or cobra kai, the rest of cobra kai season 6 will be out in febuary, I think you guys might like it, but idk if you react to series. just a thought
Movies Matt needs to watch: Watchmen How to Train your Dragon. Once he has seen these my life will be complete. 12:25 This scene terrified me as a kid.😂
The dogs being obsessed with Matt is one of the best things about this reaction 😂 Also got the book Matt and thanks for seeing and feeling the other side of being heavier 🙌🏾🙏🏾
“They judge me before they even know me……that’s why I’m better off alone” 😔 Don’t think this counts as a Bye-Gon Jim moment but this quote always hits me in the feels 💔
I think Matt would absolutely love the humor and the underlying messages in the Kung Fu Panda series. I would love to see you guys react to one or all of them. (Except for maybe the 4th one, which I haven't seen yet, but have heard isn't great.)
Definitely have Matt watch Shrek 2. Its one of the few sequels that is just as good, if not, better than the first one. You dont have to go further than that but definitely have him watch the 2nd one!
Just had to come and say, its been about 4-5 years since i found your channel. Originally just invested in the Marvel reactions. But you've grown to be one of my most watched and anticipated channels. I'm not even big into reaction and commentary channels. But there's something endearing and wholesome about your videos and catching up with you each week that keeps me coming back. Thank you Holden for bringing some normalcy into a hectic life, and keep up the content coming. Whether its with Matt or Jen im always amused by what you guys have to say and inspired by your passion on films and the conversations around them.
Found out a few weeks ago that Chris Farley was supposed to be Shrek, and as much as I love Chris Farley, I can't imagine Shrek being played by someone else other than Mike Myers.
The behind the scenes story of how this movie came to be is always one of my favorites. This movie is the first film that the Dreamworks studio made (or at least close to the first) after the company was just formed from disgruntled Disney and Pixar employees after they quit. The reason why they quit and went off to make their own studio is because Disney Executives were dead set in their ways on how animated stories should be told. From a specific kind of story structure, to NEEDING an orchestral soundtrack, among other structural restrictions, it basically made some of the creatives in their production line upset that they couldn't or were not allowed to tell the kinds of stories that they wanted to tell. And the main reasons for the executives stance at the time was basically, "We have literal decades of evidence to showcase what works and doesn't work for us, so why try to change that and take that kind of risk?" And so, the employees left, made their own studio, and then made Shrek as basically a giant middle finger to Disney to show those in charge that they were right all along, from their various writing decisions to using licensed music, to basically writing in nearly every single Disney story trope only to subvert all of them. And the fact that their first movie did SOOO amazing was just the perfect message to send to everyone that they were right. And as a special "screw you" message to Disney, the City of Duloc was made inspired by the Disney Theme-Parks, like how to get in you need to basically pay at a ticket booth. And the scene with the small puppet animatronics with some sneaky adult humor that goes right above kids' heads, that is 100% something that Disney WOULD NOT allow in their movies, but Dreamworks did it to show off that they can.
Gotta be honest, with your quick mention of Wrestling, NOW is the time to start watching. On Jan6th Raw comes to Netflix, treating it like Wrestlemania. I think you’ll LOVE it Holden, Matt too.
I read a study once where a baby was raised alongside certain objects and animals that are usually considered to be icky or gross, and the baby responded positively to all of these factors. however when the researchers made a harsh, loud, sensory-provoking sound during the baby’s time with the objects/animals, this would “teach” the baby to dislike them and find them to have the ick some have for them. I feel bad for the child of course but the study is meant to prove that “ick” for visual appeal is taught, while sensory feelings from touch and sound have positive/negative reactions naturally. so a character like Shrek teaches a good message to try and avoid being taught that “ick”, and let your own perception and experiences define what you see.
I'd love to see Holden watch the Shiloh movies with either Jen or Matt, I adored those movies (and books!) as a kid and I think they'd thoroughly enjoy them.
bought the book, watched the doc and the live! feels good to support matt and happy for everything he's done. also we all knew which gingerbread house was holden's
Now I feel Matt needs to see the puss in boots films as well because they are just on par with Shrek the last wish may be one of the best DreamWorks productions
this was an awesome reaction, please please please do Shrek 2, even if you can't get to the rest of them, I think Matt would have a blast with Shrek 2 also
My personal favorite animated movie is Cars, it’s the only animated movie that makes me actually tear up every time without feel, would like to see y’all watch that sometime too anyways loved the video
Fun fact for Matt. He said Tommy Boy is one of his favorite movies growing up. Chris Farley was originally the voice of Shrek until his sudden death and they then casted Mike Myers for the role and he added the accent. Chris Farley recorded lines for the movie and you can see them on youtube.
i saw Shrek at the Cinemas when it first came out. At the Cinema there was a Full-size Shrek Standee in the foyer and i went and stood next to it. Shrek and I are the same height 6ft 4 (at least the standee). a couple of kids saw me and got really wide eyed when I imitated Shrek's voice - from trailers etc and put my finger to my lips - shh. During the movie i was whooping it up during the Wrestling part as i am a massive WWE Fan since i was a teen in the 80's. also i resonate with the issues Shrek has as many have judged me as a very tall and heavy person my entire adult life. Also, also - so cool seeing how the dogs just loved snuggling with Matt.
such a great movie from my childhood 😂, you guys should really hear that whole Gingy/Farquaad torture scene in French, its really something else and so funny 🤣
I agree with what Holden said about how sometimes us nerdy types who are used to being judged can be the most judgmental of them all, particularly as it pertains to our views of those who fit societal norms like jocks and gym bros and the such. And he's also right that admitting that fault in how we view certain other people absolutely is a bitter pill to swallow. Especially for those of us whose chief complaint about society is being judged. It's a form of hypocrisy in a way, and recognizing it does take a lot of humility
Always fun seeing Matt ! Especially when he enjoys the movie, simply because at least he did not waste his time 🤣. Though I admit I almost closed the video after that pineapple comment, but to each their own. Also got the book and will try to watch the documentary for sure !
When will we get Holden, Jen and Fren?!?! lol I’m excited for the channel to get some good interesting combos of reactors if that’s what you all are planning. I’m excited no matter what yall do lol
There are extra scenes in the end of 1 and 2! If it is possible, check that out as well! But if because of the different musical stuff you can't, I can see that.
So glad Matt loved Shrek..... Would really love to sit down with Matt and watch movies with him. Would be so fun. :) If you can, please do Shrek 2 as well. I think Matt would love that one too. :)
I just bought the Kindle version on Amazon! I am the biggest Matt fan!! So anything to help. I will also read it. Always looking for good ways to stay fit.

Matt is gonna have a blast with Shrek 2 😂
Are you sure? because Holden and Jen still preferred the first one.
Shrek 2 is my favorite of the 4
@@TheDopestOlivellaOnEarth Mine too.
The best one!
@@icetray2727 a good example of a sequel better then the first.
“But if Shrek rails her!” had me dying 🤣🤣
He is a romantic.
Let's just forget it's a kids' movie. 🤣
Had me rolling
Matt never change. You and Holden's interactions are great. Feels like 2 really good friends enjoying a movie and forgetting the camera is on.
We didn’t know we needed this but we absolutely DID
Dazzzz right😎
Aye
Holden and Matts' dynamic during these reactions are so good. Some react channels are very fake, but you guys have both always been authentic.
Matt was awesome here. I had a good time with this reaction and ended up buying the fast food get fit book. Happy holidays guys!
To this day I still randomly yell out “THE MUFFIN MAN” to my friends. This movie is such a classic
30:30 the part with them singing together was low-key beautiful
Animated ≠ Kids movie
Exactly!! Especially some cartoons actually meant for Adults
Like those idiots at the Oscars that one year.
"Animation is something for kids to enjoy and parents to endure" 🙄
Sausage Party is a PERFECT example of this
That really is annoying that a lot of people, mostly adults, think that just because something is animated that it's meant for kids only.
100 % false. There are R-rated even x-rated animated movies. So these are kids movies? Smh
Matt was supposed to be the original casting for Donkey
He was?
His opinions are RAAAWW
Excellent pics
Always ironic to me that the message of the movie is “don’t judge a book by its cover” and also, here’s a bunch of short jokes 😂
I mean, you're right. But I've always seen it as "let's take a trait this asshole obviously hates about himself and weaponise it against him"
Didn't even finish talking and had to say "Respect Matt" ✊🏼 that's freaking awesome, you better end up liking this movie 🤣
I always 100% believe Matt when he says he doesn’t remember movies
Movies Matt needs to watch:
Watchmen
How to Train your Dragon.
Once he has seen these my life will be complete.
12:25 This scene terrified me as a kid.😂
I agree he really needs to see Watchmen
@@spideyfan6296it’s soo freaking good

The dogs being obsessed with Matt is one of the best things about this reaction 😂 Also got the book Matt and thanks for seeing and feeling the other side of being heavier 🙌🏾🙏🏾
Fun fact, Shrek and Donkey's relationship was patterned after Chris Farley's and David Spade's in Tommy Boy.
That actually makes so much sense
I'm glad he liked Shrek, he had me on edge watching him react to Deadpool & Wolverine.
Wild to not have seen this. In elementary school when this came out, everything was shrek.
Shrek was my hero and still is
“They judge me before they even know me……that’s why I’m better off alone” 😔

4 is still good, just not as much as the first 3.
Gotta start a My friend watches Nolan films series. The Prestige, Memento, Interstellar, Inception, Tenet …
I have a feeling that Matt will hate all but Memento😆
@@TheRealBillixhe might appreciate the themes in Interstellar even with all the space and time jargon around it
Τhere is a movie theory that the donkey is one of the boys that were transformed into donkeys at Pinoccio story.
The theory makes a little of sense with all the things Donkey talks about through the franchise like wearing clothes or getting bullied
"The chair! Give him the chair!"
I love that Matt writes stuff down to talk about and go over.
Definitely have Matt watch Shrek 2. Its one of the few sequels that is just as good, if not, better than the first one. You dont have to go further than that but definitely have him watch the 2nd one!
They can skip 3 and go to 4. 4?is amazing.

I remember asking for Matt to watch Shrek back in 2020 in 2 livestreams during the MCU watcha long era, it was worth the wait :)
