The American film makers wanted to cast American kids for the roles of Harry, Ron and Hermione. JK Rowling put her foot down and said no and that they must be British actors to keep with the story. This story takes place in the UK. Hogwarts is supposed to be a castle somewhere in Scotland. My husband is from Scotland, BTW. He actually met the Scottish actor Robbie Coltrane (Hagrid) once many years ago in a pub in Glasgow. My husband said that Robbie was very nice and down to earth. He said that everyone in the pub was buying Robbie rounds and that Robbie drank them all. lol Great reaction.

So glad you're reacting to Harry Potter hope you're going to like this movies just as much as I did, funny thing I was 11 when this movie was released and after watching it in cinema I still remember going outside at night looking for dragons 😅 with my friends! If you want to know what house you two are there's an online Sorting Hat where you can find what house you could be ,I'm a Slitherin by the way.
A lot of people don't know this but the sorting hat places you into a house based on which house will help you succeed more in. But, if the person has great desire to be in a certain house, the hat will grant that person the house they desire. So pretty much you can choose your house and if you're not sure, the hat chooses for you.
When Harry’s mother was killed, her love became a protective spell on Harry. This made Voldemort’s killing curse rebound onto him, and it would have killed him, if he hadn’t taken other precautions against dying. The same magic also burned up Professor Quirrell by touch.

Then you have thee perfect cast though they aren’t all 100% spot on they are the perfect actors to bring the characters to life. The spell to repair glasses is 'occular repairo'. As this was shot in the UK, the backgrounds are real but not in the same places and CGI is kept to a minimum. Animatronics is preferred throughout the series
Also, in the first movie, all the food was real, but they had to redo multiple shots and the food spoiled, after that they used fake food and the setdesighners came up with more and more crazy stuff, to make the kids feel bad, because they couldnt eat it^^

A great review of this film, so thank you for it. A small fact is that the railway station scene at the end of the film, where Hagrid is seen waiving goodbye to Harry and friends', was that it was actually the first scenes' filmed, so it was commented that during later filmed scenes, where the child actors were slightly older, they would end up looking younger in the final scene. The railway station is actually the real one at a village called Goathland in North Yorkshire, UK., a filming location also known for the BBC TV series Heartbeat
Its good to remember that these films are first and foremost books written by JK Rowling. Even more to the point she was involved in the films having a say in things right down to approving DR as HP etc.. Had she not steered it and ensured it remained fundamentally true to the spirit of her books it would never have worked because the Books were a Global success before the films. ;)
LET'S GOOOO!!!! I'm so stoked to see your reaction on this. The movies evolve and mature with the actors, so please don't be surprised that the first movie is more for "children". Watching your wife cry is so emotional. She is so empathetic and makes us like yinz even more
The spell to repair glasses is 'occular repairo'. As this was shot in the UK, the backgrounds are real but not in the same places and CGI is kept to a minimum. Animatronics is preferred throughout the series
Mrs October good with her theories and Mr October is good with his “I don’t trust this” radar nice dynamic duo
24:20 Those are real lit candles hanging on wire. Radcliffe has said how he laughed when some would just burn through the wire and fall to the ground.
Also, in the first movie, all the food was real, but they had to redo multiple shots and the food spoiled, after that they used fake food and the setdesighners came up with more and more crazy stuff, to make the kids feel bad, because they couldnt eat it^^
Yeey, thank you for reaction! :) I will press like and watch it in the morning :) (love from EU)
The actor who plays Filch was in Captain America: The First Avenger, he got killed by Red Skull in the beginning of the movie
Also the more memorable Walder Frey in GoT,
And the first Doctor in later episodes.
Not shillings. Those are galleons made out of gold. Wizard money is different from ordinary money.
53:09 I love the walder Frey jokes. Because when I watched GOT the first time I was like omg it’s filch! 🤣
Let's go!!! I love this franchise and story so much! Many life lessons and amazing themes pressented in these movies!
This is the first video I’ve watched of your guys’ and imagine my delight to realize you two are Ron and Hermione 😂😂😂 I was dying laughing the whole time definitely subscribed! Can’t wait to watch more reactions.
His mother’s love is what protects him. I don’t think that qualifies as being a spell. I think people miss that message. Great reaction!👍🏾
A great start, its gonna get much darker and adult as they age up. Looking forward seeing you watch their journey.
Yes, please warch the game! It's set in a different time than the movie, but it's still a masterpiece in its own. I cried after the opening sequence... so much nostalgia
I’m so glad we’re taking this journey! You made my Sunday!!! 🖤🌹🖤🧛🏻♀️
Man, this series is a major part of my childhood! I hope you guys love it!
So much nostalgia in this first movie.. love it
43:18 👀 & I oop.
Came looking for this comment omgggg🎯
I used to get slytherin as a kid, but now get ravenclaw as an adult. It makes sense given my mbti is INTJ. Love this franchise. I was the millennial generation that this story took by storm. It was amazing NOT being the only nerd in the library for once. 😅
Most known gotta be Merlin the wizard
It’s always fun to see younger people react to the HP movies! I read the books and watched the movies when they first came out. I’m a boomer if that gives you any indication. 😚 I remember telling my adult children to only let their children start to read the books when they were 11. They do get darker and older!
Rest in Power to a majority of the adult cast, most recently Dame Maggie Smith. It's sad to watch these with them gone, but its great we will have the movies to remember them
Lmao gimme them photons!
Hahaha love you guys! 😂❤
When my 5 kids were young we took them to every movie!! Now Im watching them with my grandkids!! Love this!!❤❤
I've been following yall for a short time now, and I cant tell you how excited I am that you're finally here! I know you're gonna love the Wizarding world (I'm a Slytherin btw💚😉)
Just get through the first two movies, then the movies actually become really good.
I love the first 2 ❤ but yeah the movies do mature and get better as they go
After the third film they get worse and worse. They lose the sense of magic, and the narrative turns into a montage of incoherent, poorly staged scenes. And by the last films, the picture becomes so dark that sometimes it is difficult to understand what is happening on the screen, the eighth film is even black and white. Many call it "becoming more mature" (after all, everyone knows that the world of adults is dark and joyless), but I think it is just bad work by the cameraman and the color correction department.
@@usagi3093 its awesome that they made them actually a little darker on top of the darker story. Its no way near being a problem when watching the movies. It makes them even more immersive
@@usagi3093 what a load of contrarian tripe you've just wasted your time writing out
@@misterisak You are confusing me with yourself.
Wait what? Mrs. October...., did you really just refer to Potter as "Hairy Baggins"?!? 😂😂😂
Loved the reaction as always!
I've watched the first two with my son and he regularly wants to rewatch them. 😊 I can hardly wait 'till he's old enough for the third.
Greetings from a huffelpuf in The Netherlands!
They are going to absolutely love this series. Every movie is good. Every single one is an enjoyable watch. I can't wait for the Chamber of Secrets reaction. Please take your House tests, so we can see which House each of you would have been sorted into.
I was in my late 30's before I saw this movie, I started at episode 3 and got really interested. I went back and watched this. I had lost both parents, and was in a dark place. This series just hit me right and really hard.
so excited to see you go on this journey
So excited for your reaction to this one and the rest of the series! It’s magical! My favorite franchise, and this time of the year... magical! Love y’all’s reactions to GOT, HOTD, ST etc so I’m so excited right now for this. Let’s go! ✨ love y’all
Rip Robbie Coletrain (hagrid) also did you notice that Hagrid was able to cast spells in the lighthouse without saying any words.
The railway station is actually the real one at a village called Goathland in North Yorkshire, UK., a filming location also known for the BBC TV series Heartbeat
cant wait to start the journey with both of you!!
please please watch the reunion special after the series!!
cannot wait to join yall on this journey!!
Welcome to the Harry Potter family enjoy the journey
I'm a Hufflepuff... Love you guys! Can't wait to see what houses you guys belong to.. 💯💯💯😊
Y'all mentioned y'all like chess. Y'all should watch The Queen's Gambit. Great series
This is not a spoiler but the actor that plays Dumbledore passed after the 2nd movie released so there's a new actor who plays Dumbledore after the 2nd movie.
@@Density13 they are passed the 3rd movie on patreon right now so they know about Dumbledore
@@montanabruce2482 gotcha, no cap I might actually subscribe to their patreon just for the series. They've become a favorite channel of mine.
@ definitely worth it, especially for the full length reactions
I love Harry Potter soooo much. I hope you guys like it enough to watch all of the movies!! ❤
Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone is a good movie overall!
The way she guessed shapes character so easily 😅 “his father must’ve stolen his girl or something” oh lord 🤦♂️😅
The first two are so innocent. I can't wait to see your guys reaction once the order of the Phoenix hits. To see how the entire tone changes and how involved you guys get.
