I've seen this movie probably over 50 times in my life and I, as well as 99.9% of people who saw this, didn't notice it until now. Goes to show just how amazing the CGI is that the errors were so obscure.
Exactly man, It's crazy how a film from a 2007 rivals the cgI of films that are coming out now, They were truly ahead of their time
fr, I was so amazed on the detail and the storyline and it was made in like 2007 and up and the fans still never stop
And 2007 is probably my favorite film, not just because of the nostalgia, but it’s just a good movie. I never noticed this blue arm in my LIFE
It's not a cg mistake it's just highly reflective and is bouncing the lighting off of it you can see it when he grabs megatrons jaw

@@orhandalegend I mean I keep noticing things and they're cool like about 5 years ago I noticed why optimus only ever had one energon blade up till aoe when he rolls over starscream in the forest battle he throws it into grindors shoulder and grindor takes it out throwing it to the ground since optimus dies and the autobots retreat there was no one to grab his blade

I actually didn’t realize that there was an error with Prime’s right arm being blue, so the fact that you were able to point it out is just surprising to hear.
I randomly noticed this one day and I'm like oh my God, others must have had to found this before me. And when I did the research i'm surprised nobody else pointed it out

It's not blue it's just highly reflective look at his arm when he grabs megatron his armor is super shiny and stuff just think what happens when you reflect light off something
I would believe the reason for the arm constantly switching back to Blue would be due to the fact that back then recording footage of objects that are red was extremely difficult. This was the main reason we ended up receiving changes to original character designs I.E. Ratchet and Ironhide color change along with Optimus sporting blue flames across his model. So in some scenes where the focus is taken away from Optimus's entire body to make sure the model does rendure correctly the color pallet switched to blue so there would be an actual model on the screen instead of Optimus's arm part just warping in and out of existence.
I would imagine they would use uv mapping for textures so the blue arm was a mistake. but if they didn't then yes, the blue arm could've been them stopping the rig from causing render glitches.
I think that red is only an issue on actual live-action scenes, not CGI renders.
Mistakes happen in cgi and these mistakes were bad and theorymus's content never disappoints

Its literally not a mistake it's just reflective like super reflective and its because of the viewing angle and lighting they are in a dimly lit alley and all subsequent ones are just various versions

Wasn't there also that one error where Optimus drops his shield with an audible sound, but the next shot, he still has it? Even now, Bumblebee/RoTB Prime's shoulder clips through his body.

The lighting of the scene obscured the error and it only lasts a few seconds so its easy to not notice it

Another error I can never unsee again is in the General Grievous vs Obi-Wan fight in Episode III. The lightsaber colors of Grievouses lightsabers are switching and the hands he looses. Ruined the whole fight for me, but I think I will probably forget this error pretty soon.
It didn’t ruin the fight but I noticed Grievous has Anakins lightsaber as well as Luke’s and I think Obi-Wans and they switch too I find it kind of fun

My theory is that this was done to make those shots look "better" with the same logic Michael Bay has about why he hates filming red vehicles. Considering that its such a subtle change and only done in a few shots, this doesnt really sound like much of a stretch especially considering the fact that the cgi team likely did this intentionally as it is consistently and only on the one panel of the right arm.

I believe it had something to do With the reflections, I guess cameras back in 2007 had a hard time picking up red paint on vehicles accurately, This is actually part of the reason why prime has flames.

with technology improving, he had the confidence to film them. With DOTM having 3 red vehicles/cybertronians, 4 if you count Optimus
There is a theory that the reason the animation errors in G1 happened was because Unicron was messing with the universe so maybe Unicron in the Bayformers universe was also messing with the universe which caused all the errors in the movies to happen
That sounds like some cheesy excuse for all that. At the end of the day all of it is errors and it's ok, ok to leave it that

One thing worth pointing out is that the 2007 Leader Class Optimus Prime toy has those exact same blue arms. As a kid I always wondered why they were like that. Maybe in both situations the blue arm is a leftover from an earlier design?

If I had a nickel every time there was an error with Prime being blue where he wasn’t supposed to be I’d have 2 nickels. It isn’t much but it’s weird that it happened twice

oh I thought it had something to do the lighting, reflection and contrast depending on each shot he was in.
Headcanon: Optimus’ alt mode proabably caused some shifting for his armor (kibble) because he was the one who had the largest vehicle mode.
I do think the blue arm was not fully coded, painted ect because maybe they did not see it somehow, which i think is valid because not everyone has spot-on vision I don't think they were just lazy enough to keep it there if they saw it.

Because its a 3d space unless they use a solid view it would have been almost impossible to miss, my guess is that they forgot to add a key frame to an empty
I spotted it some time ago and thought it had something to do with either the blue coloring of the flames or was due to the sun visor on top of his cab in vehicle mode. Edit: I looked at the Transformers Arrival scene, and it fixes itself shortly before Optimus answers Spike's question as to who Megatron is. That is indeed a well spotted error!😊👍
I think it was meant for the Ion Blaster because when Prime holds it, it has blue on it. But they forgot about it...

The blue is the outside panel on most and not the inside more robotic parts

I heard from some youtuber that, when in 2007, the colour red is difficult to animate/cgi in moving scenes so they decided to design Optimus Prime blue for most of the part rather than red like his G1 design. I think blue right arm error should be related to that.

Well, all I can say is that no movie project is 100% perfect and that we will always see movie errors no matter how perfect looking it is. Editors are great at making the big pictures that will draw our attention, but when looking for the little things that we don't see, it is something that will leave you to remember for a lifetime.
I found out about this error about a year ago. I probably regret noticing it the most. Just as you can notice the gentleman (probably M. Bay) during the first transformation. An interesting thing is that in the TF 2007 trailer, the hand part is red.
Some people: these movies are so good, I can’t find a single mistake.

I'm no VFX artist, but it seems to commonly appear in all scenarios post-transformation.
In scenes where it'd be the most noticeable, like for instance his energon blades coming out of his arms, it was often fixed, leading me to believe it was a fix post-VFX finalizations. So in scenes were it wasn't as noticeable without pointing it out, it wasn't fixed. So the VFX artists, after scenes were already rendered out and have gone through several stages of compositing, would fix it. It could have been in error that it was blue, or a change that happened later.

In G1, it's easy to notice the errors on your own. But I with any Transformers shows that came out after G1, it would take years for people to notice them, it has to take like one TH-camr to point them out.

I apologise greatly your right, I just watched the the scene on a larger screen, it is blue but only the wrist panel is blue, the rest of his arm is definitely red, but still your right it was an error.

theres also a single shot somewhere where you can see the back of Prime's door on his chest for a sec and its just a basic blue texture with no interior detail

About the early concept animation of The Forest Battle in ROTF. Is that it shows Megatron in his 2007 form fighting Optimus instead of his tank like form that He got for actual Movie.
Something tells that The Animation Team wanted to bring back Megatron's 2007 form, But I'm guessing they thought it would be more cooler if they gave him a different Form/Vehicle Mode.

They were paying homage to the cartoon show and their random changes in colo(u)r throughout the series.
I don't know if you did this, but you should maya video of all the errors in mistakes in every transformers films. Especially bumblebee. Like example: in the 2007 film, the scene where uncle bobby was showcasing the rest of the cars after sam's dad didn't want to pay for bumblebee, and that bumblebee created a sonic boom that broke the glass off of all the cars, you can see a shadow pan over uncle bobby. That shadow is a microphone. Of course I wouldn't know that as a kid, but I found out growing up.
Another fun fact. After Bee shoots the kitchen bots in ROTF and blows up Sam's house, while Sam and Mikaela are flirting about the L-word the camera is spinning around them. For a brief glimpse you can actually see the cameraman's shadow on Shia's back

I Believe that the reason why is because it might've been the og color the cgi team was going for. But due to the time they had and they model they got, they maybe just couldn't get the og color of prime.

I think when it comes to CGI, there are usually different models that the animators use for different purposes or scenes. This is why we see the blue arm when Optimus was transforming as it was probably the model used by the animators for only when Optimus is transforming. I can't really explain why there are scenes where Optimus didn't transform but still have the blue arm, but I think the animators just chose the wrong model because as we can see, both of the regular and blue armed model don't really have any differences other than, well, the blue arm so the animators must've gotten switched up. Though again, that's just my speculation.

My theory about his blue right arm is the next: Thanks to some GMC commercials, I was able to see that in many promotional imagery of the movie, they were working with a previous render of Optimus, where most of his pieces were casted on blue. My point is, that they were working with that previous unfinished model in most of the scenes, and then the finalized version was out, and they might have missed those mistakes on Prime's model. That, or maybe there was a glitch on that specific model.

I have noticed it in a few places. Mostly at the observatory. It hasn't lived rent-free in my head. Maybe that's just because there are still chunks of red, and it's only the flames that are missing

The on that always gets me is Megatrons feet clipping through the statue when he sits down in DOTM
i don't know why, but the idea of the movie having colour scheme issues makes me laugh, because it reminds me of the errors in the older cartoon shows where you saw weird coloured transformers, or just animation errors. somehow, the movies continue that goofy legacy, and i'm all for it

I think it happens due to either uv mapping error or or someone just changed something in the normal map. I may be wrong but If there's an animation in the textures for the transformation it could be constricted by an empty or simply on the wrong axis
If I had to guess, I'd say this could be a relic of a time where Optimus didn't have the flames. There is likely a few different models of the bots for the movie, with differing levels of detail (so they aren't wasting computing power to render the top quality, transformable model in a scene where they're just in the background and not transforming). Optimus was probably one of the first designs they started working with, and they probably started modeling, rigging, and testing animations with him long before his paint scheme was finalized, since changing the colour of things is easy.
They probably had the design finalized, but changed the truck to having the flames closer to shooting. And so the CG team would've needed to replace a bunch of texture files on Prime's various models to have the updated colours and flames. The blue arm might just be a texture they forgot to update, and the model they tested with was the full fidelity version, with all the transformation rigging (which is why it seems to always show up in closeups and transformation sequences). Meanwhile all the subsequent models with lesser detail, battle damage, or things like his battle blades, were made later on, and therefore never had his earlier colours, and were explicitly made with the flame job.

It probably was some type of glitch that happened and no one noticed it, but I was always curious why there was blue in parts of the arm where there wasn't supposed to be.

My theory as to why it could've happened is that it might have been a material or texture bug that would happen when his right arm was out of focus
I wouldn't say out of focuses, they probably just moved an empty
This can happen when you reuse movement assets for a CGI sequence. If you copy movement, the texturing of the piece being animated can also copy over. For every frame they copied to shorten the work on an animation sequence, the texture was also copied and they didnt notice. Another possibility is timeline of an animation. You can animate a moving part and set the wrong texture at the wrong time for the part being animated, in this case, his arm. Once the timeline of that animated piece is over, the texture returns to normal. This happens a lot in animating softwares like Blender.
I'm wouldn't think there would be uv mapping, maybe for the transformation scenes but even then that's probably ramped control. It's probably because generally speaking hands and feet have IK to stop sliding, maybe a texture was patented to the wrong IK or maybe an empty
Edit- normally animators only reuse animations if they are cycles or background characters which even then they normally pre-animate a cycle
I think it also appears in Shang hai when he shots demolish or in the face. Particularly when he kills him

I would think the error happened due to a texture error, as it can be possible that a texture stretched and resized to completely make that part of the right arm blue.

I've been rewatching transformers rotf and when Optimus gets revived and The Fallen comes in to take the matrix, The Fallen has a great chance to kill Optimus but instead teleports towards the pyramids. Unless you've already made a video on this is it ok to solve this mystery. Again I love your videos and can't wait for more in the future! :)
1:22 It's still kinda cool how even if it's the wrong color on the arm, light still bounces off of it and reflections are still seen, a little odd but I thought it was cool.
Honestly it's probably just a normal map issue as they are famously blue but are designed to have the light reflections and basically gives a 2d plane geometry
