I always thought he didn't want to move or force the cables cause it will do damage to his gadgets or his jetpack or even worse gets stuck inside and it would be impossible to remove it. A perfect example is Dropkick in bumblebee movie when he transforms after bee throws a chain on his helicopter mode, the chain gets stuck in many parts of his body and when bee pulls the chain... you saw what happened to dropkick. So maybe it could've happen to prime too or his weapons. Nice video tho
This brilliantly explains why Sentinel cut off Prime’s right arm. He knew Prime would be weaker if his index arm was severed. Outstanding analysis Theory!!
@@byteshothunter2381shut up you no imagination loser it’s not a coincidence he is on to something sentinel know Optimus and was highly trained so it makes sense
Bro if michael bay ever plans on bringing back the bayverse you should be a producer for the plot or something, you seriously are insanely good at making stories and fixing things in movies
I always figured Optimus was simply too tangled up to effectively grab one of his blades, combined with the flight-tech armor. It kinda reminds me of the armor from Robotech Battlecry the game. The armor offers additional firepower, but at the cost of being able to transform the mech and mobility. Also, with the Wreckers already on the scene, it probably wasn't really necessary for him to have to use the blades. Not to mention, with them around, they likely freed him in a way that resulted in him not falling to the ground below, as opposed to what likely would've happened if he did the job himself.
I think Prime would have the knuckle spikes on him at all times, so maybe he didn’t pull them out for two reasons: 1. Most of the cables were out of reach 2. He was sorta panicking, as any person/robot would act while tangled up while your allies were being attacked
besides even if he did pull them out, the angles of those spikes wouldn't make them very sharp to cut through cables they're more like knuckle dusters than anything.
Another reason why Optimus couldn't have use his Energon Sword because he was upside plus their was a bunch of cables making stuck so I think that is the reason why he couldn't get himself up and free himself earlier
Is it weird that I never heard of this "plothole"? I never even knew that this was something that people pointed out. I always thought that the time it took for Prime to get free with the Wreckers' help was a result of things going by naturally off screen and the movie just cut back to Prime and the Wreckers at the time it did was just the movie getting its audience caught up with what was happening while the action was still going on. But hearing about Prime using his weapons to free himself, I would have thought that he was either too discombobulated from being tied up and/or the cables wrapping around where they did would made it difficult for Prime to try and free himself. But, that's just me.
I honestly never saw this as a plot hole, but thanks for explaining how it was a plot point, and nice use of previously established information on Optimus Prime and assessments of what happened between revenge of the fallen and dark of the moon.

Despite me watching Dotm many times I never saw this as a plot hole until recently and now after watching this video you've completely changed my mind. Also congrats on 200K subs.
The simple explanation is that with the extra guns covering his hands he couldn't do anything. And while he was freeing himself, the Wreckers showed up right after he was tangled, so there was no reason for him to continue and he just let his companions free him.
Optimus is quite literally right dominant handed as well. In all the shots we see him with the mega striker and when he pulls out his ion blaster, he always chooses his right arm to use/fire them. Which means he's right dominant.
i love these kinds of videos, just straight up looking way too deep into minor bits of these films - the amount of of details you put into these videos is awesome, love it!
Man, when I read the video's title, I thought you were going to explain why the Earth wasn't affected by Cybertron's arrival through Sentinel's Space Bridge. Specially since the novelization gives an explanation to this. In fact, I never noticed this detail about Optimus until I've watched the video. Still, I hope you can one day explain that plot hole and mention the novelization (and no, I won't reveal the answer because I don't wanna spoil the surprise to those who didn't read the novel). Still, this video truly deserves a prize, Trans! 👏
Well, Prime was also late to the Mission City battle. He did have a cool incoming scene, but he certainly was way too late, and by the time he comes, Jazz is dead, part of the street is destroyed, and I know he was separated from the group by Bonecrusher, but he was way too behind. But the comics did state that Barricade picked a fight with Prime and some other commonly clear obstacles all drivers face like traffic and going to the right streets could justify this long wait. So if Barricade's distraction and traffic problems were canon, it is pretty reasonable why he would be late.
Excellent video bro. I have a theory about of how Galvatron back to Megatron in TF5. I considering Queentessa (Or how that writed) use the chains that she use in Optimus for regenerated his body parts; remenber when OP fell in Cybertron, he lose various parts. And that is why Galvatron turns to Megatron and why she shocked Optimus Prime. ❤️
I always assumed he was unable to free himself because he was too tangled up to be able to move. Plus that flight tech wasn't exactly flexible to begin with considering all the heavy weapons in its arsenal.
At the start of the Chicago Battle, the Driller dismounted the trailer, and the Wreckers distracted Shockwave while Optimus snuck around to get his stuff. Here, he would pick up his gun, right sword, and flight tech, then get tangled, and then go back to get the left sword and axe, which just doesn’t make much sense to me. I always thought it was just because if he did it himself, he’d end up in freefall. If the Wreckers untangled him, he could grab a wire to be back upright, and then start flying.
Yeah I always just assumed he was too tangled up to free himself. Pet head canon of mine is that this is the same reason he took so long to show up to the final battle in TLK. I like to imagine he got blindsided by chunks of falling Cybertron and was tangled up and Dragonstorm had to come and save him 😅
In TF2, when Jolt made Optimus more powerful than he ever was with Jetfires parts, he just dropped it after killing Megatronus. Why didn’t he keep it? It made him stronger and clearly he didn’t have a problem handeling the extra parts or the weapons. And he would’t need the extra flight tech in TF3, because it would just be part of him like Starscreams wings are part of him.
That is what the trailer holds. All the attachments he got from Jetfire, were reversed engineered for him to use as he needed. The thing is, Shockwave even after encountered, and Soundwave were never accounted for in those developments. It is kind of why the Decepticons were such a huge threat to the Autobots. Because, for every advantage the Autobots gained, the Decepticons always developed counters.
Idk if it's possible but could we get a video on Shockwave's driller worm thing because I've always find it so cool and fascinating, like did they build it? Is it alive or is it an extension of Shockwave? Can it transform? Stuff like that

While I never liked the concept of the weapons becoming detached from the boys completely, this was an excellent way of looking at that scene in particular. Well done.
He probably keeps his left hand free most of the time for grappling. Most of his fights involve him grappling and throwing opponents whilst slashing or stabbing with his right.

I choose to believe it was all due to the projectiles that Shockwave fired, I think they were specifically engineered by Shockwave to incapacitate Autobots and temporarily disable certain functions and prevent them from being able to move too much or use weapons, so he could take Optimus as a prisoner like the decepticons did with the other autobots. (Although it’s hard to explain how the wreckers had enough time to free Optimus without being noticed by Shockwave or other decepticons)
What you describe, is kind of expected by many Transformers fans for Shockwave to behave. He has always planned for disabling Autobot abilities in all other appearances, and it was always to slow them down. This is where he clearly did so.

I love Dark of the Moon just as much as everybody else, in fact it's probably my favorite installment in the series, but I would've never guessed this minute detail was the prime plot hole everyone is talking about. Because oh my God, this movie was full of plot holes, ones way bigger and more mentionable. Like, I don't know, how did Megatron incorporate Optimus resurrecting Sentinel into his decades old scheme to take over the planet if Optimus didn't even obtain his Matrix until 2009?
It's simple. Megatron planned on using the Matrix of Leadership on Sentinal as a way to back door the Fallen once their plan succeeded with the Star Harvester. Optimus just happened to have the Matrix in present day. As for the "being worthy to wield it" issue, Megatron probably didn't know about this aspect of the mcguffin.
To me I always thought he didn't want to cut himself out because he didn't want to damage his flight tech, so he let the wreckers do it. love the videos as always .
In age of extinction I always assumed he had his left arm blade he just didn’t use it so it didn’t get disintegrated like the right one until it got removed by lockdown
TRANS! I got big news and it’ll be an idea for your next ROTB Video, the studio series boxes for the maximals mention something called the “transwarp key”. Once we get more info on the key, you should do a video on it.
You should make an optimus life storyline as im cunfused how he was made by quintesa along side from some of the first transformers ever while somehow still not knowing about the fallen yet still acting like nothing happened when he was an archivist in cybertron
I mean Transformers as a whole has a ton of plot points so this one isnt even that big. Optimus getting tangled in metal wires always made sense to me as a kid cuz i used did have knowledge abt how dangerous coils could b from a bridge building book I had, so I just assumed Prime was afraid of snapping himself in half due to sudden movements like transforming. There r bigger plotholes than this imo. Like wtf has Megatron been doing sitting on all this info abt the moon landing and sht from late 2000s when he only unfroze himself in 2009. Hell if he coordinated with Starscream properly he couldve just brought the 300 decepticons from the moon for the invasion. They’d probably still lose to the US military if they pulled the nuclear option but by then, Megatron couldve alrdy left w/ his prize
I love this video as it does give an explanation to why Optimus was out of the fight for so long but I believe he might of had the energon sword in his left arm while he was tangled up but didn’t use it to cut himself free because he didn’t want to damage the flight tech because of the reason they gave in this video “he still needed the flight tech to take on the decepticons”
Im saying this before I'm watching vid my guess is that since he was combined with jet fire he could not use his energon blades ( because the giant cannons are on his arms) free himself that is my best guess. Back and that actually makes total sense
I just thought because he was wearing a jetpack and if he cut the wires he would've fell and hit ground or crash into another construction site if he were to try and fly again Lastly thank you for saying he had 2 energon swords when he was butchering Decepticons because when I was wonder why didn't he used his other energon blade during and after AOE someone told me he lost one of his energon blades in ROTF when prime threw it at grindor and I'm like "no he didn't" I even kept rewatching the Optimus rampage scene and see that he still has both
One thing that I've wondered about is the Human affect on them, like why are they human looking in AOE & TLK but not the other 3 and 2nd how his other weapons were destroyed when Lockdown captured him
I thought the reason he couldn't get free from the cables is due to those big guns on each hand which would make it impossible to use anything else at all.
It's definitely an idea I have thought about but the reason why I don't do It is mainly because my Passion is for the movies. And I don't know too much about the other continuities so I wouldn't be qualified
I always figured Optimus, when he first equipped the flight tech, left most of his other weapons behind in order to be as light as possible when flying. Considering the circumstances Optimus did not want to prolong his current mission which was to take down the driller beast (minimizing the destruction and chaos was the primary motivator to taking that thing down). He of course would have kept at least one weapon which was his sword/right wrist blade (since we’ve seen enough that he’s more skilled with his right then his left). It makes sense to keep at least one weapon, especially one you can use effectively should you be shot down or enter a confrontation that requires more than just what else you have. Going off of the explanation as to why Optimus couldn’t have used his sword/blade, and changing up the theory that perhaps he left the other stuff at the trailer alongside his other sword, we can assume that once he was untangled from the wire he flew directly to the trailer to equip himself wi the as many weapons he could carry as surmised in the video. The risk of appearing late to the battle was far less than the risk of prolonging or even losing that fight (Prime’s rage) should he have been under equipped. The theory in the video makes hecka lot of sense.
I honestly never noticed how detailed that scene was of him hanging. I never notice how he has his arm/hand out of the one gun and it's hanging from the flight tech, nor did I notice the whole one side oof it being detached from his back part neither.
The swords he has in his arms are different from the ones in his trailer. He didn’t just suddenly lose the ability to pull them out of his arms. His arms literally transform into them
I think that you are wrong and here's why. Transformers can unequip some weapons, like Prime's Ion Blasters or Mega Striker, but they can't unequip weapons that are physically in them, like his Knuckle Spikes and Energon Swords. Besides, something that I've noticed is that not only does Optimus's Energon Sword at the beginning of Dark of the Moon have a handle, but it also has some other spikes on it. Neither of his Energon Swords had these things. Ultimately, he didn't use his Energon Swords is because he physically couldn't. Like you said, he didn't use his right sword because he didn't want to damage the equipment. I also find it strange why in the shot where he gets stuck, his left-hand gun is off, but in the shot where the Wreckers reach him, it's back on him. I think Optimus tried to use his left blade, but the cables were too far and too difficult to reach, so he put back on the gun and waited for the Wreckers. That is why I think Theorymus (btw, I preferred Trans Theories as your name) is wrong and why my theory is right.
I mean, look at his hands. They are stuck inside the huge gatling blasters he is wearing that came with the kit. Why would he drop one of them from the height at which he was stuck to free his hand a deploy an Energon blade, losing a powerful weapon, if he saw the Wreckers arrive seconds after being stuck? Especially considering that he needed both of them to destroy the Decepticons later on.
Can you some day to a video where you just do a review and your thoughts on all the bayverse movies? As well as your rankings of them. Would be fun seeing that
I like when they have their weapons attached to their body. Like a built in feature. Also saw a video saying Age of Extinction, those weapons were different from previous ones bc they came from his body.
Also from the original animated series the energon weapons did not last very long, so if he used to cut himself down they they would be depleted by the time he got to the fight
Hey uh, I just realized none of the Transformer 1 movie made any sense. So the autobots on Cybertron sent the All Spark to space so that the deceptions couldn’t find it. But then the decepticons decided to continue looking for it anyway so the autobots decided they too must look for it to stop the decepticons from finding it first. But I thought the All Spark was lost far in space… So how did Megatron’s navigation system already have access to the location when he was frozen in the Arctic 8 million years ago? How did Megatron even have coordinates to imprint onto Captain Witwicky’s glasses in 1895? Did Megatron slap a GPS tracker on the All Spark? And then why was the coordinates on the glasses so important if the All Spark already moved? It was found by Sector 7 on the Colorado River and moved to the Hoover Dam, therefore the coordinates on the glasses are inaccurate and doesn’t matter. Also, Captain Lennox is an idiot for suggesting hiding the cube in a heavily populated city.
This is a PRIME example of why we shouldn't look too deeply into some movies
But it's just too much fun not too 😉

To me I always thought he didn't want to cut himself out because he didn't want to damage his flight tech, so he let the wreckers do it. love the videos as always .
In age of extinction I always assumed he had his left arm blade he just didn’t use it so it didn’t get disintegrated like the right one until it got removed by lockdown
"YOU ARE THE ONE WHO TAUGHT ME FREEDOM IS EVERYONE'S RIGHT."
I never realized that the cables is incredibly strong to even hold OPTIMUS PRIME
Theorymus coming in clutch with more theories and confirmations, a huge plus everytime i watch ur vids
TRANS! I got big news and it’ll be an idea for your next ROTB Video, the studio series boxes for the maximals mention something called the “transwarp key”. Once we get more info on the key, you should do a video on it.
I like prime with combat weapons more than long range weapons, cause I would love a combat fight scene
Congratulations on 200k subscribers!🎉🎉
Thanks 😃
You should do a what if video about what if Ironhide wasn't killed in DOTM, and was still alive in AOE and TLA.
i thought of the whole "he could have just slice the cables away" stick but he probably would have free fall without enough time to use his jetpack
Very interesting I always wonder why Optimus never cut himself down

Prime is both right handed and left handed but mainly used his right hand, just like me 😂, great theory like always and keep up the good work 👍
You should make an optimus life storyline as im cunfused how he was made by quintesa along side from some of the first transformers ever while somehow still not knowing about the fallen yet still acting like nothing happened when he was an archivist in cybertron
My friends: don’t let theorymus continue he’s a mad man!
me: wait, *let him COOK!*
I just thought because he was wearing a jetpack and if he cut the wires he would've fell and hit ground or crash into another construction site if he were to try and fly again
Lastly thank you for saying he had 2 energon swords when he was butchering Decepticons because when I was wonder why didn't he used his other energon blade during and after AOE someone told me he lost one of his energon blades in ROTF when prime threw it at grindor and I'm like "no he didn't" I even kept rewatching the Optimus rampage scene and see that he still has both
The fact that I sat here and watched the entire video... On a subject that I wasn't even pressed about in the first place ... 10 out of 10
One thing that I've wondered about is the Human affect on them, like why are they human looking in AOE & TLK but not the other 3 and 2nd how his other weapons were destroyed when Lockdown captured him
Theorymus is back everyone, best transformers theory man😂
Thx my dude
Everyone : talking about ways to free himself from the cables
Me : just shoot the cranes and see for the cable later :/
"During the scene where he Beyblade's all the Decepticons-" 😂
I thought the reason he couldn't get free from the cables is due to those big guns on each hand which would make it impossible to use anything else at all.
id love to see theorymus make some content on other tf media (alined continuity, earthspark, ect)
It's definitely an idea I have thought about but the reason why I don't do It is mainly because my Passion is for the movies. And I don't know too much about the other continuities so I wouldn't be qualified
@@Theorymus
We already have Rodimus Primal for G1, Emperor Kumquat for the align continuity, and TheFirebrothers for everything- don’t sweat it
Maybe it was just for the benefit of the audience and Optimus in reality wasn't tangled for 15 minutes
I'm getting curious what would have happened if wheeljack had survived and would he would have been used as a tool or just killed
The swords he has in his arms are different from the ones in his trailer. He didn’t just suddenly lose the ability to pull them out of his arms. His arms literally transform into them
He still had one in his arms, because he pops it out right before he fights Sentinel
@@mercury2157 he has both of them. His arms become the swords
@@novustalks7525no he got rid of one of them
@@robinjollimore7312 no he didn't. The swords are his arms
@@novustalks7525 no one of them is handheld and were you even watching the video?!
We all know he didn’t cut himself down because he had to make a dramatic Optimus style entrance to the fight
Maybe he would’ve told wheeljack to add protocols for this kind of situation if he didn’t get his head shot off…
Optimus only had one energon blade cause he throws his left blade to grindor
When hes killing Decepticons in dotm
Beautiful eye opening video
All of your videos are but this one hit different slightly, wow
Now, this is making me wonder why he doesn't he have or use his ion blasters in AOE/TLK?
Or the more likely answer lorewise, he couldn't take them out because of the guns on his forearms with the flight pack
Another successful video on fixing up movies, keep it up!
Another day, another Theorymus vid. My day is made
Thanks my dude!
Can you some day to a video where you just do a review and your thoughts on all the bayverse movies? As well as your rankings of them. Would be fun seeing that
What about Optimus's arm blade or hook to free himself? I also think Optimus will use an arm blade for the situation instead of a sword or axe.
Actuality is they needed a reason to sideline the Chief Murder bot because anytime he's around he's op, not to be confused with OP.
I like when they have their weapons attached to their body. Like a built in feature.
Also saw a video saying Age of Extinction, those weapons were different from previous ones bc they came from his body.
AMAZING theory!!! You always manage to blow my mind! And it’s also just entertaining XD
Love your videos and unpopular opinion the og trilogy of transformers is the best media of all time.
Also from the original animated series the energon weapons did not last very long, so if he used to cut himself down they they would be depleted by the time he got to the fight
I thought that the flight tech came from his trailer which is logically kind of true you should make a video about it
Where did drift, hound, and chrosshairs
Bro said give me a second to cook
Do not question why I’m more experienced with my right hand….
I like Optimus he is the best autobot . Good video thenks for making us heppy 🙂🙂😃
YES Yes a new video from Theorymus!
