      I would like to know why streaming dolby vision programs like Silo streaming on Apple TV are so dark and grainy on this TV. Does it not have the power or panel to handle UHD or DV streaming. Please evaluate that problem, a lot of us are experiencing this dark, grainy picture on HD material.

    I have the 85 inch version. this TV has changed my mind entirely of Mini LED technology. I was coming from a Sony OLED and heard a lot of rave about this TV. decided to take a chance away from OLED and try it out. Man...the first thing I put on was Super Marios Bros movie. I was stunned at the colors and luminance from this panel. black levels are impressive and really blurs the line of thinking it was an OLED. TCL knocked the QM8 out of the park.

    • @csi2448
      @csi2448 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Same here! Minus coming from an OLED. I've been blown away by mine. TCL has had this tech for years now. Making fantastic TV's that never make it to the USA (outside of the original 8 Series). So to finally get something in the mini led market with the specs this TV has, and at this cost, has been fun!

    Hey Caleb, 85” QM8 owner here. Were intelligent mode settings disabled when you were doing the HDR portion? Brightness settings shouldn’t have been shared between SDR and HDR. HDR should have defaulted to 100. Also, make sure you check in with TCL regarding firmware V283. Versions prior to that have a dimming bug in all HDR content that causes global brightness fluctuations. Those of us who initially reported it got pushed a new update that isn’t GA yet.

    • @RobertoMezquiaJr
      @RobertoMezquiaJr ปีที่แล้ว

      HDR content dims for me too much. Are you saying there's an update I can request from TCL that addresses this?

    • @Caleb_Denison
      @Caleb_Denison ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Good looking out, Nathan. Int. Mode may have been engaged at the time, but it is off now and I checked luminance readings with a variety of brightness settings. I did get the update you’re referring to. It isn’t pushed to the public, but I’m not seeing those fluctuations anymore. To be honest I only saw them a few times and out of the corner of my eye. Had me wondering, “did I just see that, or was it just me?”

    • @RobertoMezquiaJr

    @RobertoMezquiaJr ปีที่แล้ว +10

    Thanks for the video!! I got my 85QM8 two weeks ago and I absolutely love it!! It had a day 1 update out of the box, which took some time to install. I am still playing with settings for picture because each type of content I watch has a different setting. HDR for example shows different from Dolby and that's different from standard content. I wish there was a setting that would allow for my picture settings to carry over to various types of coded content. I just discovered I can adjust the warmth on Dolby settings, that was driving me NUTS because it defaults to warm. I get a few mins a day with my TV usually lol. So eventually I'll get it calibrated to how I like it under each type of content setting.

    Can you please test the Motion clarity at 120fps with the max Motion smoothing setting. It is supposed to have 4x better motion clarity. Just open the UFO test, and at 480 pixels per second, the Alien Eyes should look sharp. Yes, the brightness will be reduced when the persistence is reduced unless the display is driving the backlight harder, but that doesn't mean it's useless.

  • @Tommy6860
    @Tommy6860 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I want to see the review. I had my 65" delivered on Wednesday the 14th. I played with it for hours and I do have a few issues that even tech support cannot help with solving. I am severely tone deaf to higher pitched sounds, so not matter what sound setting I choose, the bass is deep, of course deeper on other sound presets. But the lowest bass one is still deep. The fact that there is no bass/treble control is a serious downside. The other is Bluetooth. Connecting my Galaxy Pro 2 earbuds to it works fine (and that help with my hearing problem. BUT, the sound synchronization is terrible. Even adjusting the delay to the max on either spectrum end, yet there is still a slight delay.
    Tech support is friendly, but seriously uninformed. I was told about the bass treble part that my streaming apps, like Netflix, etc, have their own sound adjustments and even the over the air TV stations do as well. 😬😬 The interface is a bit clunky and the remote confusing still after numerous hours. It is not intuitive at all. But it will take some getting use to its format. Other than those issues, the picture is to die for, I mean the blacks, the total absence of blooming and near no reflections of light objects in the room can be seen reflecting on the TV screen. Best By said they would pick it up before the return date limit if I request. I will give it another week and I refuse to buy a soundbar to enhance my sound fine tuning, it should be including in the TV software. If I send it back, I will loo at the Hisense UX models.
