What a spectacular find. I give you tremendous props for waiting till now to slice it...bringing forth some good energy for 2021 for all of us! Now THAT is a Montana moss agate!!!! Really great quality in patterns and no fractures or holes!!! Stunning, this is one of the best of the best! Thanks a lot for showing that piece of eye candy, it is truly top shelf!

@@KatyDidRocks Yeah i saw that it has a few fractures at the end, but still really nice!! quite a few river rocks are so beat up on the inside, it can be sad to see them crumble after they are cut, this one has plenty of workable material!

WOW! Those slices are beauties!I have obtained a 14 inch saw,and have hesitated about running it,because we plan on moving.I even have the oil. As I hound,sometimes I am reluctant to pick up the ugly duckling,but yours gives me hope! Thank you for sharing your experiences with us,even thought the years can just flip our lids!

I would have walked right past that thinking it was just a rock, and here there was modern art inside of it. Just lovely.
I was pretty sure it WAS "just a rock" - hence how ridiculously excited I got when it wasn't!
@@KatyDidRocks I hope you can help me. I have a rock that I found in Sweden, about as big as a plum, its white/grey, with blue and yellow, but look alot like this one with the texture and holes! I always had a feeling that there is a crystal of some kind inside!! Do you think there can be? What could it be? Thanks so much if you can help me.
or its actually mostly yellowish with some blue parts. It doesnt look at all like a normal stone youd find in sweden.

I almost didn't slab it, because it was so big - I thought it was the biggest I had found. But then I found one I had discovered 20 years ago that was 9.2 pounds, so I decided, what the heck. :D

Happy New Year Kate! Great work. New to your channel, found you from your collab with Alex from Agate Angler. I love your enthusiasm, the feeling IS thrilling to bring out the hidden beauty in a rock that you discover yourself. Your excitement made me laugh bc I totally saw myself in it- however I have only gotten into this world about 3 months ago. This gives me hope I will get the same joy even when I am not a newbie anymore.
That was an amazing stone, I can only hope to find something half that size someday. All mine are babies from the Oregon coast. A large agate for me is walnut sized instead of the usual bean or grape sized stone. I cant wait to hit the river and creek beds for the first time when the rain lets up- but with the current weather in the PNW I'd be thrilled just to make it back to the beach I'm lucky enough to live next to. Unfortunately due to downpours and dangerous conditions like the risk of sneaker waves, I haven't been out for a low tide beachcombing since b4 Christmas, and I'm jonsing SO badly😬😵... Rockhounding / tumbling/ polishing/ cutting vids on You Tube are my fix! Thanks for helping me get by!
Just curious, when you cut a big beauty like that, how do u divy up the slices? Decide on your personal fav(s) for your collection, then give some as gifts and the rest sell on Etsy/ Ebay? Also...
ANY advice on choosing a good tool for a newbie on a budget for agate and jasper slicing? A tile saw with Diamond blades is what I've heard, but not sure if the brand or type matters.... I'd really appreciate any tips!
Also, how lucky we are to have partners who share and/ or indulge our passions! Unlike your husband, my guy doesn't do anything hands on with the rocks ( not yet anyway! ) but he is by my side for hounding outings, helping me hunt and excitedly looking over our finds afterwards and listening to me babble happily about all the different types of stones I'm discovering, while showing him 10,000 photos of rocks per day...
He was definitely my best find ever! Glad for you that you and Mr Did have that as well.

As far as saws, I don't really have any good advice for you, as I inherited mine from my dad. Jim actually just started working on cabs when we bought the slick cabbing machine you see in some videos - it turns out he both enjoys it and is good at it. I think he's starting to catch rock fever. :D

Those slabs are awesome. I am so happy for you. At about 10:42, the slab you are holding, looks like there is an eye, nose, and mouth on the left side, and the rest of it looks like a large head.
