This year was the first Thanksgiving that was REALLY different for our family, too. We cooked a turkey breast and still made cornbread dressing and cranberry sauce, but it was just our household for the meal. We gave thanks, shared gratitude, and were pretty low-key for the Holiday. Even when something is "traditional", not stressing about making everything "perfect" is a big plus and being able to connect with family is wonderful.
You had some beautiful, healthy turkeys to harvest. I love knowing where my food comes from and am so thankful for those like you who are able to do the dirty work. I think I would make a terrible farmer with a small(er) operation because I could see myself getting too attached to the animals.
This year was just my husband and myself, our turkey was still frozen so we had ribeye steaks and was greatfull, and smoked the turkey Sunday, it was wonderful
💚 For the first time ever, I went out to eat (not turkey) with a friend on Thanksgiving. It was relaxing and enjoyable and I felt much Gratitude. I did cook my Regeneratively Pasture-Raised turkey on the following Sunday. Enjoy your turkey when it works for your family 🦃 💚
It's great to have the new equipment to help with your harvest season. I know it's hard to dispatch animals you've cared for so long, but you take such good care of them and offer wonderful gratitude for their sacrifice, I love that.
Are you guys ever going to add on to your yurt? I remember when you ordered and recieved the addition to your present yurt. What ever happened to those plans? Just wondering.
It's a shame to have bought a new yurt for the family and not being able to use it. And a shame all the children in such small areas not even a bedroom.
Hi just a idea u shoild let ur daughter use that big tent for a bedroom she would probably love that she at that age I'm sure she would love time to her self being a teen ager ..
My client and I still put in our 10K and weights ! Our big holiday meal was Divali, the feast of lights. No big meal for us, though, happy in moderation.
I bought a half turkey that was cut sternum to tail. It was just the perfect amount. I brined it in some apple juice I had that was just past its prime. Perfecto I grew my own turkeys one year and was amazed how hard they were to process. The tail feathers on the BB are so elegant looking though. They make great gift add ons.
What an awesome family! ❤️ I really enjoy you guys! It’s so comforting being able to watch this channel with my kids and knowing it’s rated G, not R!❤️
I had cook three dinner for one for my nabor and One for my husband son and girlfriend and my son we had a turkey for us there just the 2 of us me my husband i not pass up have no thanksgiving for no one the lord said whare there is 2 or more to gether we can still have fellowship and and eat dinner you don't have to have a house full to have thanksgiving it just me and my husband and are cat i made turkey pumpkin pie cherry apple sweet potato potato salad cranberry sauce stuffing thank giving not thank give with out a beautiful dinner 😊
🦃 The new dunker and shackles device is a game changer. I’ve processed a lot of chickens and can see having this device would be easier on your body because turkeys are sooo heavy. How much did the turkey weigh? Who guessed the weight? What was the weight of your largest turkey? Thanks for sharing your life on the farm.
I haven't made a Turkey in years. Chicken, cream of mushroom soup, mashed taters, dressing, vegetable, homemade bread. Christmas, lasagne, garlic toast, devil eggs, homemade candy.
When people started calling Thanksgiving "Turkey Day," I decided a turkey would not rule that day. It's not about serving turkey; it's about giving thanks to God or whomever you choose. Just be thankful!!!
I was wondering when you were finally going to get one of those contraptions to carry heavy boxes, etc. It's great to be strong and use your muscles to keep them healthy but you should not hurt your back temporarily or permanently. Good thinking, Mike.
hello & Wow it is hard getting family together on a holiday the last 3 Thanksgivings where not at all for me. My oldest has to work. & the youngest was sick. so it was a no go. & the 2 years be for that the Corona keep my 2 friends that live down stares from me all home. it his are building both them years. ugh not fun at all.
I winder if you guys have the information recoded to share with us all on the costs of rasing turkeys ,it's something I've considered here, though I'm not sure if selling a few table birds a year could cover the cost of growing a few for ourselves..glad you all had a lovely thanksgiving, your own way :) 😊
Mike , great video as usual. question, i raised 18 midget whites this year, 4 have bumble foot, are they a risk to the flock, and are they still edible?
Great job Mike and family. You do this so well. Enjoyed this video. Blessings to you and your family. Val C❤🙏🏻
If your a meet eater you sure appreciate what goes into from “Farm to Table” God bless your damily
I skipped Turkey this year too. Just made a chicken pot pie and called it good lol. Always next year to be traditional.

You both are a treasure. Many blessings to you and family
you are glowing again Lacy
You have the right idea about Thanksgiving, spending time with loved ones and being thankful to God for all that you have. Blessings to you all.

Agreed. I was just going to post the same question. When are you going to put the second yurt up??
They must not going to………
Sometimes the rudeness on youtube just gobsmacks me. I having one of those moments right now
We still plan on it but building takes money and we haven't been able to.

Chiefs Kingdom on the refrigerator!!! ❤🏈❤ Dickson family, I am thankful for you.

Hey Mike, next time cut the feet off before placing it in the plucker.. the feet tend to slow the plucker down. Otherwise great job.
Enjoyed your video, always do. Turkey’s going to freezer camp😅
I cooked a very small turkey breast, baked sweet potato, cornbread dressing and gravy for my husband and me.
Nothing better ❤❤❤
I had cook three dinner for one for my nabor and One for my husband son and girlfriend and my son we had a turkey for us there just the 2 of us me my husband i not pass up have no thanksgiving for no one the lord said whare there is 2 or more to gether we can still have fellowship and and eat dinner you don't have to have a house full to have thanksgiving it just me and my husband and are cat i made turkey pumpkin pie cherry apple sweet potato potato salad cranberry sauce stuffing thank giving not thank give with out a beautiful dinner 😊
Nice video
I really like raising chickens naturally, just like you.
Remove the feet and the wing tips and they will spin really easy.😊
That’s a great tip! Thanks!
It will still taste good

Hi.... Mike Dickson and Lacey love watching your video homestead beautiful great good job 🏡🐔🐓🐣🐤🐥🦃🦢🦆🦮🐈⬛🐐🐝🎥👋 bye 👋 bye 👋 bye 👋👍👍👍

That thumbnail picture was hilarious.
Thanks Ed! Mike puts a lot of thought into the thumbnails. ~ Lacie

The hand truck is handy but those boxes were so light I almost laughed. You could tell when he moved them that they were lightly packed.
We ate elk roast for Thanksgiving
Sounds delicious!
I used to raise and harvest turkeys but I prefer a nice beef fillet on Thanksgiving. But regained the taste for turkey by Christmas.

❤❤❤
So.... the big question is: what did you cook for Thanksgiving? 😂 God bless you all.
We had tacos! ~ Lacie
😂😅😊
Some people i know eat the turkey one at a time and less your sell them that don't kill all freeze them
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
You should only regard them as food. Otherwise, it gets difficult.
Your loses in the tractors may very well be raccoons. I had raccoons get into a shed reach into rabbit cages, pull out a leg and amputate it.
❤❤🙏🙏xxoo
Mike , great video as usual. question, i raised 18 midget whites this year, 4 have bumble foot, are they a risk to the flock, and are they still edible?
So how much did the smallest weight and the biggest turkey weight?
❤
Do you not eat pork? 💙
No we don't eat pork.
🙏🙏🙏❤❤
Raccoons brother
I can't watch animals being processed. Too sad ❤
Sounds like a racoon thy got my chickens
We lost our turkeys and chickens in August to rats.
If you have bonded with them then why do you do it😢.
Farm raised is the best food.
Because we raise them to sell and they are tasty.
Why to kill such beautiful turkeys?
We raise them to sell them and they are tasty. Plus we know where our food comes from when we raise it ourselves.
Hey friends!! Just curious where’s your LGD at? Maybe I missed that.
He is living his best life with the cows.
Hate turkey prefer duck
Why did you have to give such a long story to get to the point. I'm an old woman by the time you would get done telling the story I could be dead LOL
We are glad you held on. lol Thanks for watching.
@MikeTheFitFarmer LOL
I haven't seen a video on Mae's calf.....🤔💭
Don't worry she is fat and happy.
We couldn't afford a turkey this year so we had beans and cornbread.
