Cows are smarter than we give them credit for. Our neighbor's cattle got out one day and came over to our property and were headed over to our pond. When we called the neighbor to come out and get his cows back he discovered that their water source got cut off because they bumped into the shut off valve. They were thirsty and just wanted water. Our pond over flows onto their property when it gets full. They just followed the water line.
You are my favorite couple on u-tube. I love your Christian values and the love and respect you have for each other. Keep doing what you're doing, because you are doing great!!!
Great therapy for me today. First time since my hubby passed 11.22.24 that I have been able to watch a full video. We would watch you faithfully together every Wed and sat and then Monday together. Glad your cows are back...
I’m so sorry for your loss. The first year is the hardest but God will walk beside you. We grieve for ourselves. Our Christian mind reminds us our loved one would not choose to leave Jesus but our heart has to catch up with our mind. That takes time and tears.
A couple years ago in Florida, I woke up to find 5 cows grazing in my front yard. Called the neighbor a quarter mile down the road and he came down and herded them all back home.❤❤❤
Your cows are a consistent source of both comic relief and orneriness. I can only imagine your surprise at hunting for deer and finding your cows instead!
You guys are so honest and straightforward with all the challenges you face each day. The genuine way you present your life brings me back time and time again.
Thanks for sharing this with us Sarah and Kevin. Glad you got the fence back up and hopefully the cattle will stay home. I'm sure you'll get the milk cow trained quickly and all will be ready for her time to have her calf and be safe around the barn. It's always something. Stay safe and keep up the great videos. Fred.
My husbanded pastored/ ministry for 50 years. Our very first church was a little farming town rural southeast Wisconsin. Our first experience with farmers. One never knew what Sunday someone’s cows got lose and they couldn’t come teach Sunday school, so I had to combine classes. As a 21 year old I found this so frustrating but now as a 74 year old I completely understand. We now have goats and chickens. We have cameras everywhere.
When I was about 15, during the Christmas holidays and on winter weekends, I got a job as a cowboy on a small ranch. My main job was checking the fences for breaks and fixing them and checking the cows for eye problems.
well done darlings.. we had sheep on our family farm in sussex uk.. lambing time could be time consuming and tiring but so rewarding.. much love to you.. god bless xxc
I lived in the country in VA as a kid, and I have vivid memories of being in the car and coming across a herd of cows milling about all over the road. For a child originally from NYC it was quite the surprise.
I sure hope you all are wearing hearing protection. I have ear ringing, which has gotten somewhat louder in the last few years. Believe me, you will be sorry if that happens. Please, please wear ear protection
Our property backs up to 600 acres of pasture that had horses and black angus. On many occasions these big draft horses just would hop over into our property. A big bag of carrots would encourage them to jump back over. Thankfully the cattle and the bull rarely came onto the property. We did have to call the owner a couple of times. Always makes life interesting.
Our neighbors cows and horses kept getting out one summer. We had fruit trees and they got a lot of fruit before we figured out that they were opening the gate with their tongues and noses. The gate would swig itself shut behind them.
I enjoy following you two. Other channels I’ve watched and lost interest. I keep watching you every time you post, whether it’s every weekday or fewer times a week. You keep it worth coming back to.
This is why good scopes are important! Being able to identify a target at a distance or in low light is crucial. Back in the day, you'd have 1 less cow and a heavy heart 😅
I live down the ranch in Colorado late '70s early '80s I would actually place a little honey in the feed and lead them into that stand. Use a bit of honey in their feed and then start doing laying it off and put it around their bucket they get that smell and then they want it Well it work for my goats. Farming is a full-body sport and the problem solving is the main thing I think God bless keep you safe for your cattle in the same pin. I miss that life had to sell
I remember seeing you climb through the fence saying 'the cows have not figured this out yet'. Not suggesting that is where they got out, but you know when you SAY something..... hahaha!
I work at a golf course with a herd of cattle next door. Every so often they break through the fence to eat our grass, which is generally greener on the other side of the fence. Boy, do they make a mess of our greens with their hooves.
What a great video...! It proves that there is always something to DO or FIX...on your farm...! You both are always so creative and knowledgeable about fixing things and situations...! I love just tagging along with you both...! God Bless, Shelly 🐮❤🧑🌾
For some reason as a kid, I was the neighbor who would herd cows & horses back home. I had a Border Collie that followed instincts & my directions & we got most taken care of with help at gates
Cows will be Cows, thanks for the story, it made my day. The solar cameras are exactly what I need! Now while you are away from home. All you need is a solar powered horn that you can control with an App, that should scare the critters away. As always looking forward to your next video.
I would recommend getting the trees out of your fence line. Saplings and trees growing in fence lines will destroy the fence. Then it will cost more later to fix.
Deer broke through my wire fence and it was way down where I don't normally walk around with the dog. You gotta ride ( or walk) fence regularly, or this will happen. Luckily it was only chickens that found the break and my friendly neighbor alerted me to the fact they had seen them over on their side. Deer can be a real nuisance.
Hello Sorry your cows stopped you from getting a Dear like that. & it was really funny to see you tell the cows ( ok we will meet you at the gate.) ( & them right after you said that, the cows 🐄🐄🐄🐄🐄🐄🐄🐄🐄 fallowed you right away. ) lol Good luck getting your Cow trained again to milk.
You should read the dept. Of conservation rules on deer season this year, if I remember right. There is a week from dec.8 to 14 or 15 of rifle season for non horned deer for most MO counties...
Y'all said you couldn't figure out why the cows went into the other pasture. As long as Y'all have had cattle, you should know, that cattle are not the smartest animal on the place. If they can get their head through the fence, the rest of them is gonna go. They've got to be some of the most aggravating animals to deal with. I guess they believe that saying " grass is always greener on the other side of the fence." Glad you got it fixed without a great deal of work. Love y'alls videos and updates. God bless y'all and stay safe out there on the homestead.
Aww you must have forgotten about that spot. If i'm not mistaken, I think you showed that exact portion of fence in your video with the tornado and massive flooding damage all bogged down with leaves and debris.
The cows are as smart as the deer. In the Pacific Northwest, even deer in central Oregon, come INTO the urban city and stay there until hunting season is over. Can't shoot a deer in the city - even a 5 point (our western counting of one antler tines) was a drive-by to me, standing in the median, and one beauty of a buck ! Otherwise, the deer come out in the day time and feed within the cow herd, so if you are going to get a shot, more than likely you will hit a cow - and the deer remains protected ! In reference to your cows, they didn't want to stand out in the meadow (deer or no deer) for weather or for hunting season and have someone take potshots into the herd. They scurried into the forest where it was both weather safe and hunting safe. As the cows had never done this before, should show that they took this maneuver as a new seasonal deterrence in regards to hunting, if deer do come into the open meadows, and hearing shots in their neighborhood.
I wouldn't give up on deer season just yet. We have game cameras all over our land near Truman Lake. We see deer on them all the time, the night after we were just at that spot cutting wood or doing chores. Our deer are just as nosey as your cows. 😆
Cows do not like contrast of colors you have bright colored(red) fence pannels leading into a much darker barn. If you lit up the milking stansion she might not be so scared. Just walking into a dark barn does not let eyes adjust and does not seem safe. Also a harness amd some petting might gain the trust needed to nudge her. I would light up the area first and then go from there.
You know, you don't run a dairy op. You have a pet milker. So treat her like a dog and halter train her. two things are accomplished there, one she is by your side as she goes in to be milked, giving her a sense of security. Second it improves the bond with your pet bovine. Might do you good to observe the kids raising milkers and show cattle so you see the bond and dependence. It will help.
Funny, my daughter just texted that she had spent the last hour+ chasing down her oldest (& largest/strongest/most stubborn!) milk cow & coercing her to get back through the break in the fencing!!😂😬🙄 I remember MANY many times being late for school because the steers got out first thing in the morning!😤 Luckily, we lived in a rural area, and the teachers understood such (extremely common) situations, lol! I can laugh about it now, at 62 years old… back then I don’t remember it being at all funny!🙄😂
One of the cows must have seen you push the wire down on the fence and walk over it the other day when you were telling us you were smarter than they were.
I'm glad your fencing project had an easy fix this time! I was going to suggest a few 4G cameras back there in the woods. Every year or 2 for a while we'd lose a cow to a hunter. Which was always disappointing because we had Holstein or white faced cattle so it was someone who either didn't care or wasn't waiting to see their shot before taking it. Something spooked Babe. I couldn't see anything wrong but maybe the floor needs reinforcement or something is wrong with the stanchion?
You know, I was always raised that cows can’t have a fence too short and horses can’t have a fence too high, and if they can get out they will regardless

Growing up on Dairy Farm , nothing wakes you up faster than Dad saying the “ cows are out “ in the middle of the night
😂
It's a rite of passage to the farming life🎉😂
Oh my goodness! I had to look twice to see if I wrote that ( knowing I didn’t)
There has never been a truer statement spoken. 😂
Or, the neighbors cows are out (in our field).
I remember hearing that line while growing up on the farm, The Cows Are Out! ❤
You are my favorite couple on u-tube. I love your Christian values and the love and respect you have for each other. Keep doing what you're doing, because you are doing great!!!
Thank you so much!
If you have livestock you will ALWAYS have times you will have to get the livestock back in their own space! It's just part of having livestock 😊
Great therapy for me today. First time since my hubby passed 11.22.24 that I have been able to watch a full video. We would watch you faithfully together every Wed and sat and then Monday together. Glad your cows are back...
So sorry for your loss. Glad you were able to watch the video and have fond memories of good times with your husband. God Bless!
I am so sorry. I understand, when my husband died 3 years there was a music CD we both loved. I still can't listen to it. Prayers for you
The babies😊
I’m so sorry! Sending a hug! 😢
I’m so sorry for your loss. The first year is the hardest but God will walk beside you. We grieve for ourselves. Our Christian mind reminds us our loved one would not choose to leave Jesus but our heart has to catch up with our mind. That takes time and tears.
Listening to your story, all I could think, "Man makes plans, and God laughs." Maybe next year, Kevin.
Too funny! Just picturing the situation makes me chuckle! 😆
You guys are so honest and straightforward with all the challenges you face each day. The genuine way you present your life brings me back time and time again.
I think the cows wanted to be in the trees for warmth. The forested area would be warmer for them than the open field.
Livestock = lots of work.
They are a never ending chore.
It always makes me laugh how the cows follow you.
Well, they say the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence and your cows proved that.. Thanks for sharing!
Nothing gets the adrenaline running like realizing the cows or horses are on the loose!
Don't ever expect cows to do what you think they should, then you won't be disappointed 😂
You made me smile!
Thanks for sharing this with us Sarah and Kevin. Glad you got the fence back up and hopefully the cattle will stay home. Happy you repeated this story as I don’t watch lives because they are to long for me .. just don’t have the time. However I love your channel.❤
When I was about 15, during the Christmas holidays and on winter weekends, I got a job as a cowboy on a small ranch. My main job was checking the fences for breaks and fixing them and checking the cows for eye problems.
Goes to show you the whole time we’re making plans. Life is happening all best wishes on securing the fence and the birth of the baby cow.
well done darlings.. we had sheep on our family farm in sussex uk.. lambing time could be time consuming and tiring but so rewarding.. much love to you.. god bless xxc
They wanted to go visit
❤️
Good ☕️☕️ Morning Kevin & Sarah.❤
I lived in the country in VA as a kid, and I have vivid memories of being in the car and coming across a herd of cows milling about all over the road. For a child originally from NYC it was quite the surprise.
You have had a long productive day! All the best.
Kevin
I love the horns on your vehicle .,
Very nice.
Linda from Ct
Thanks!
Yep it is funny and cute. :)
Awesome job getting the cows to come back home!
That's why we have a 6 strand electric on Timeless posts on our perimeter and we rotationally graze training our cattle to one hot braid.
Yes heard it at the livestream.
I’m guessing we are fixing the fences now😊
Babe calving soon🙏
Dog gone cows are so darn cute!! ❤
They are! So cute, funny and sassy! :)❤
I sure hope you all are wearing hearing protection. I have ear ringing, which has gotten somewhat louder in the last few years. Believe me, you will be sorry if that happens. Please, please wear ear protection
can't you see it? good emphasis on that point!
You have the cutest, funniest cows! I just love them. I'm sure they are that way due to the time and care you give them. 🥰🐮
Our property backs up to 600 acres of pasture that had horses and black angus. On many occasions these big draft horses just would hop over into our property. Come Bossy!🐮🐄🐄🐄💞
Dinner is mid-day. Supper is in the evening.
Midday is lunch..evening is dinner or supper
Midday can be lunch or brunch. Dinner is a significant meal at lunch time here in big ranch country. Supper always in the evening.
No matter what it is called, it is a time for tasty eats! 😂
Our neighbors cows and horses kept getting out one summer. We had fruit trees and they got a lot of fruit before we figured out that they were opening the gate with their tongues and noses. The gate would swig itself shut behind them.

I remember those days on the farm.
Simple. The cows know that 'the grass IS ALWAYS greener on the other side of the fence. Even when you cannot find the grass!
Blessings!

No cell phones back then the neighbors called us on the home phone and said you're cattle are in my pasture
I remember seeing you climb through the fence saying 'the cows have not figured this out yet'. Not suggesting that is where they got out, but you know when you SAY something..... hahaha!
Iam so sorry. This happened to my Uncle. Have a good day. Lv and Prayers.
Cows are funny!❤
❤️❤️❤️ indeed

Silly ol cows. Cows are so funny. :) ❤❤❤
For some reason as a kid, I was the neighbor who would herd cows & horses back home. I had a Border Collie that followed instincts & my directions & we got most taken care of with help at gates
Another great video. Thank you for sharing it.❤
I love the views from your property!
thx
Moooooooo. Cool video guys. Thank you!!

Deer season takes out our hot wire every single year. We have a horse that strolls thru...every single year.
Hope you get some rest this season😊❤🙏🇨🇦
Paddocks are where waddlesville and the pigs are, where the cows are is pastures
Always enjoy your videos!! Merry Christmas!!❤
U good folks share got the language down pat here in Wisconsin call it a swale u call it a hollow
Enjoy u 2 for a long time
Will keel watching

Deer can be a real nuisance.
You of all people should know.....The grass is always greener on the OTHER side of the fence! 😆
My grandfather dug him a good straight ditch beside the lane were he milked so he could stand up and milk kept it covered with a few sawmill boards
Maybe the cows just wanted to stroll through the woods and forage, LOL
it sure Is good to know that you two were able to get your cows back onto there own Property Cows can sure be Cantankerous sometimes lol.
🥶 glad you got it fixed!
Lucky you were hunting and saw them. Too bad you missed the end of hunting. Were you able to get any deer this year?
You should read the dept. Of conservation rules on deer season this year, if I remember right. There is a week from dec.8 to 14 or 15 of rifle season for non horned deer for most MO counties...
What if you built a ramp up to the stantion?
Hope it warms up!
Y'all said you couldn't figure out why the cows went into the other pasture. As long as Y'all have had cattle, you should know, that cattle are not the smartest animal on the place. Really enjoying y’all’s live streams
Oh no, at least you didn't shoot it by mistake.
Can u imagine?
A halter may help. Yes,we used to milk a jersey by hand.... they have their own ideas don't they. You guys are doing great!
Aww you must have forgotten about that spot. If i'm not mistaken, I think you showed that exact portion of fence in your video with the tornado and massive flooding damage all bogged down with leaves and debris.
Cows are all saying training their humans requires patience and hard work. 😂
They were after the acorns.

Scariest words on the farm The cattle are out!

I see a pattern here. Kevin YOU are the farmer. The cows know you. They smelled you in the hayfield & I suspect they followed you.
Oh NO! 🐮 😅
New subscriber here! Love them HEREFORDS

That's one way to get it done.

Hi Kevin. Has anyone else noticed what appears to be Starlink satellites in the upper left hand corner of the night sky at 6:57 in this video ?
They thought the grass was greener 😂

The cows were going to Gramma’s house 😊
You know, I was always raised that cows can’t have a fence too short and horses can’t have a fence too high, and if they can get out they will regardless
I thought you were going to say you shot a cow thinking it was a deer.😊
We use Real link as well!
