Im Cambodian, and let me just say it. There’s nothing wrong with what he’s doing. It’s part of the culture. And if you think what’s happening here is wrong, you got it all wrong. In comparison to how I’ve seen non tourists treat eachother? I’d say this was a pleasant exchange for this worker. I grew up in the villages and often went to the market with my grandparents. Stop following a stigma and go outside.

@@egzon290 Can you afford a $10 Big Mac? Sure you can. Are you gonna pay it. No.
You're gonna go to another burger joint. Just as I am going to go to the next shop over.
McDonald's realizes this then lowers their prices to be competitive.
The only difference is McDonald's posts their prices and sells them at the same price every time for every person. So for them to change, it's going to take days/weeks as they do market research etc.
Here, the prices are not posted. She is the 1 person running the store. She knows her profit margins.
Initially, she's going to try to get the most she can out of the buyer, which is fine, that's just business. But since she knows her margins, she can adjust the price in real time - this is simply just another business model that the sellers CHOOSE to operate their business on.
The buyer is just doing business according to how the seller operates theirs.
Had her prices been posted, then I would've respected that and formed an opinion on whether I wanted to buy it or not, without even talking to her.
"Is it worth $8? Nah. Move on"
It's literally just more lucrative to get a bunch of naive tourists to pay 3X the cost than to get everyone paying the same with minimal mark up.
Set your bias aside for a second and think critically.
