@🌐[ไทย]😎 Only your country, Thailand, is full of crazy people, cheap and long history, and copy. My country, the Thais are crazy, they are very cheap🥺😂
Cambodia is being called Scambodia for some reasons. Every time you cross border to Cambodia, when the imm officer return your passport, make sure they actually stamped. Because there will be cops waiting for you in the next checkpoints to ask to see the visa stamp on your passport and you will end up paying lots of money because the imm officer intentionally did not put a stamp on it.
I had a very bad experience in Cambodia. I was cheated and taken advantage of. I will never go again. Traveling to Thailand is only happy. I come every year.🇹🇭👍
You have to be extremely careful that they properly stamp your passports on the way back into Thailand, because they often don't do that properly on purpose to make you have to come back through the Cambodian Border to pay even more bribes to get through that so that you can then use your passports in Thailand to get back onto planes going elsewhere. They actually did that to my wife, who is Thai. They messed her up bad as they said she was not in Thailand, when she was in Thailand for almost a year before we discovered that they had done that to her and we had to go back to the Cambodian Border and they wanted her to pay a huge fine, when it was all their fault. Luckily, my wife's cousin is a police chief in the Korat area and he got on the phone and made the border police fix that for her without a fine.
Listen to me. I live in Cambodia. Here's a tip for everyone who reads this. Always fly into Cambodia. The border crossings are notorious for scams and bribes. I never have and never will take a border crossing. I always fly in. You will save yourself a lot of time, stress, and heartache. But if you choose to ignore this advice, and try to save a few dollars on a border crossing, you will regret it.
good to know but the problem is, there aren't that many international flights into Siem Reap or PP so it's not about saving money it's actually about accessibility. BKK is a larger hub for all international air carriers.
I agree. I have crossed into Cambodia from Thailand by bus in Poipet and the border crossing near Trat. Each time It was an unpleasant experience. Next time I will fly. Once I took a bus from HCMC to Phnom Penh. It went ok.
I’m Thai. Many years ago, my sister and I got bad experience at Siem Reap Airport. We slept on the airplane, therefore we both didn’t get Cambodia immigration cards. We knew that we haven’t had immigration cards while we were in queue. We requested for the immigration form, but the immigration staff told us that we had to pay 200 THB each for immigration form. It’s terrible. It’s my first impression. The trip is my first trip and last trip as well. This is a Cambodia way to welcome guests !!
The first Impressions of Cambodia are bad asking for bribes so you can enter the country it’s so boring needs to be addressed or there lose tourism forever
💘💘You should have to make up your mind if you are going to visit Cambodia, Vietnam or Laos. You must be very careful with scammers. It's not like you travel in Thailand because Thailand is already prosperous, problems rarely occur and the laws of Thailand, they provide protection to tourists and more strict. Thai people have a good conscience towards tourists in general. And have goodwill he definiely won't do that. But if you go to a neighboring country, you have to keep in mind that it's not like in Europe because of prosperity and psychological development is different. You have to risk what you will encountered such as Thieves, Gangs, Hoarders, Scammers, Beggars, Hijackers, Robbery, Black Taxis, Minibuses, Chartered cars that like to deceive a lot of money. 🙏🙏 An immigration checkpoint that tricks tourists into money. Do it as a process and systematically. These people are ready to deceive you have to be more careful. Even real Thai people travel to neighboring countries will find it but since they were aware of the game, these people managed to survive. With love from Spain 💋💋
But we got held at the immigration office of Thailand at the border for no reason at all and a guy who seems to be a fixer keeps on approaching us to transact with him so we could pass through the border.
I’m thai but laos and vietnam have a lot of nice and kind ppl too and they got very beautiful country. And if u go there don’t forget thailand tho😂 From my perspective both country ppl is nice they quite kind and humble. Not sure about the systems and police but ppl that’s not scammer is nice and kind. It’s just as same as thailand we’r full of scammer around foreigner area too.😢 Cambodia got dictatorship and most strong propaganda around here. So u may found corrupted systems there more than other country around here. Other like malaysia, philipine, indonesia, SG is nice too Myanmar ppl is also a lot of good ppl, just wait the civil war to cooldown after that should be another good place to check it out.
One more thing, Laos and thai language is kind of similar. Let say it’s like italy and spain language i guess, Similar. So if u knew thai language to know laos gonna be easier.
Hi 🙏I'm Thai and I would like to travel at Siemreap Angkor Wat like you guys but after I saw your video,I think I should travel with Tour Agent company is better,it'll be safe and easy for me.Thankyou for sharing video
Oh no! That's good you guys are safe. I’ve been to this border first time in 2018, and the immigration police asked me ‘where are you come from?’ I said Bangkok and he asked for money from me 😢 feel a bit bad but Angkor Wat is nice.
@@OTWD_yt Angkor Wat originally belonged to Thailand. Thailand loses territory to France And so Cambodia went. But they don't have the ability. Even to repair it They just use it as a tool to make money. Do you know Thailand has 109 stone castles throughout the country. And there are a lot of them. that is older than Angkor Wat
@toyodatakeshi8320 oh I felt so ashamed with what you've said. It seems like " you're talking about yourself" because you (i should call you Siam not Thai , because your real name is Siam and it means Thief ),Siam who is always trying to rob our property lots of times. All what you've said here was all what you've done to us. So Don't try to make yourself looks poor or pity.
@@senhuongdum6612 Siam is the Thai people of the past. You have never studied history. Please keep your mouth shut, Mr. Khmer. And even Khmers claim everything from Thailand.
A long and tiring day. Not sure I could be so patient as you were nowadays. It was really interesting to see how things operate at the border. I have run such gauntlets many times in the past and have just taken it as part of the trip. Now I am considerably older and do not have the energy of younger days. It happens.
You shouldn't go to Cambodia at all. I was ransom in Cambodia. I used to have locals lock me up in a dark room. Demanding $20000 ransom And I definitely won't go again.
EVERYWHERE in Canbodia is dangerous. Go to the hotel, you get mug by the owner. Go to the market, you get overcharge and being threaten by a knife to pay the amount. Even just by walking on a footpath and you'll get threaten to pay BY THE POLICE the amount they ask, with gun aiming at you. These are my experience by touring in Cambodia for 1 week from Phnom Penh to Sihaknouville and I get f*ck all the way.
Good review guys! I've been through that border a few times over the years, but only in the other direction. The main problem being no main bus station in Poipet. Buses from Siem Reap etc drop off passengers at their own offices which are a lot further along the main road heading towards SR. This is why you get hassled with private taxis before reaching the bus offices. It may become easier if they finally run trains to Poipet but this is no use for SR as the line runs to PP via Battambang only. As others have said, if you want to go from Bangkok TO Siem Reap easily - fly. Cheers!
Good comment from the person above. Yes the best option is to fly. Poipet can be a real hassle. And according to a Thai Legal Service if you are doing a border run from Thailand back to Thailand, better to do it through an agent because it's easier for them to process you as they know your coming, and don't have deal with someone just winging it. Thai immigration at Poipet can be frustrating or worse depending on the day.
I have been living in the cities of (Krong) Battambang and Krong Poi Pet for 8 years. Most busses are in the morning and possibly a bus or two a no later than 2 pm. The reason for this is most of the busses go to Phnom Penh which is a 12 to 15 hr bus ride. If you take a bus to Sim Reap you will most likely have to transfer to another bus at Sisophon. Taking a taxi is close to the same cost as taking the bus. Just so you understand the sounds of words ph is not a f sound it is p(uh), sh is s(uh) ch is c(uh) and chh is ch(uh). And yes most of the busses are 2 or 3 km from the border. They were trying to set up central station off of the main rd. I'm not sure if that worked. Most of the busses are independently owned and operated by small companies. Part of the problem of telling were something is in Poi Pet is that most of the rds do not have names or numbers. Every city is different that way. On google maps is The Pizza Company, if you have walked that far you have walked past most of the buss stations.
How ungrateful you backpacker couple! The police was trying to tell you not wasting time to walk to the bus station, cause it is closed. So did you find the bus to siam reap? There are bad and good people every where, poipet is no different.
@@OTWD_yt Yes. You should be ashame of yourself. Sharing true experience is nothing wrong, but to manipulate the story just to get a few more clicks is disgusting!
Thank you! I watched this whole video and it gave me anxiety. And then the video just cuts to them in some van with lofi music. I was expecting a bus ride, lol. So the cop was really trying to help out. The title is provocative for sure.
Hello Dridgers, So glad to meet you back in Cambodia from Thailand and your train journey was amazing. Please you have to be careful my friends from the street people and transporters who are trying to overcharge money from you. You have to check out for a reliable person who charge you a fair price. My good luck on your Cambodian tour my friends
I'm Thai and even myself would hire a personal tour guide to sightsee Cambodia. There are many amazing places to see but Cambodia's public transportation is still a hassle to figure out. Your time and safety is valuable as well. I like to support the local tour guide especially young people they need money too plus they can speak English. Here's what I recommend, the most budget friendly way is purchasing a tour package out from Thailand, only $300 for 3 days will include plane tickets, hotels, food, and about everything. If you want to stay for a week or so you should just go directly into the big city (by plane, train or bus but you need to plan ahead of time) and need to book the first hotel ahead of time. From there you should find a lot of options to get around the city and connect to some local tour guides. I did this option in China and most places that I traveled on my own and worked really well for me.
Just stumbled across your video and loved it. My wife and I did the exact same journey on October 28th, what day did you cross, may have just missed you. The fun did start at the border. Lots of people hassled us. The shuttle bus was not clear at all. We waited for a few minutes at the same place as you. We thought we were getting a legit taxi because we asked a cop. Instead a 20yr old Dodge Caravan showed up with seats that were fully reclined and wouldn't stay up lol. Agreed on $40 to Siem Reap, we didn't want to share. (I read on line $40 was the price for a taxi). I followed the journey on Google Maps. About 5 miles out I showed the driver the route to our hotel, he said the cop had arranged a tuk tuk driver to take us from some point in Siem Reap. Another scam. We insisted he take us to the hotel, and I gave him another $5. He did it but was worried he would be in trouble with the cop who he had to pay anyway. Shame really, Cambodian people otherwise couldn't have been nicer to us. Thanks for posting and letting us re live our trip.
Hello Ian it was filmed about a week before you got there we read so much about scams it was worse than we thought and to be honest pretty much the whole country is the same with Ofcorse a few exceptions. But so much stuff happened with getting ripped of and robbed and nearly robbed we just ended up leaving a week early and returning to Thailand. They need to address it. Anyway thank you for watching us glad you enjoyed us. Check out our latest video more scams 😊❤️
There you go, if you have any problems in Cambo or need help, don't ask a cop for help, they are the problem. Same in Thailand and Laos as well, cops are the problem.
As a Cambodian citizen, I’m really feel sad to see that. It must be hard for you going through this bad journey. Everything has good and bad side. Let’s keep it as your experience. You learn from it and accept what you encounter in life. Cambodia is a developing country and far away slower compared to countries in SEA. You probably don’t getting used to the country environment as you are from a country where prosperous, developed and easy to access everything. Lastly, thanks for your visit. Your story has been heard. I wish both you have a wonderful life.
I found Cambodia was hard work and i got the feeling the people kinda hate tourists not all of them but lots. There Allways on the hustle and you have to be on your guard there.
I was travelled to Poi Pet by car from BKK to Poi Pet at 31 of October 2022 when crossed to the Cambodian border i saw Thai citizen like me who waiting on the line hand 100B to the immigration and when is on my que, the officer said we all have to make a living and asked me 100B the same. Also warning from Thai boy who send me to the border said to me to keep it in mind. "Don't let anyone come close to you and say no in all situations. I've got similar situations like you guys but not that worst. They tryin to trick you every single step you get out of the hotel. Luckily i got one good driver who drove me from Siemreap to Phnom Penh, that cheer up my trip a little till reach to Laos.
@@kasenmediapost I guess everywhere are the same just vise versa. obviously when we are travel on land, this is easier to happen than travel with airplane. I have been in so many countries and i never have this till i make a changed to travel by land and this is the first time i got charges by Cambodian border and also Laos border.
I have a mixed feeling on watching this video. It looks like your western look makes you seen by people as an unprotected walking money bag, it must've been an uneasy feeling for you when walking in the streets there. But the people don't look really hopeless, they maybe just too little educated, they're struggling for their own better living. The conservative Cambodians are so proud of their past Khmer empire and still don't aware the underdevelopment despite a passed millennium of declination. Their corrupted politicians can still "drug" them with the old-time greatness in their greatly decorated history. The new blood Cambodians who got the better education are their hope. They're very potential people. I believe one day when the country get the proper education level the country will be a pleasant place to live and a travel destination.
Hey! I hope that you both enjoyed Cambodia as a whole. I live in the states and been back and forth to Cambodia all the times since I grew up there. I few things I want to point out. 1. Thank you so much for visiting my country. I am sorry for what you have to go through. Especially with the heat lol. You guys def a true backpacker haha taking trains and everything. 2. The police officer actually tried to help you, and his English might’ve not been the best but he was actually a tourist police especially in that uniform, they actually take the oat to do the right things haha. The taxi guy was asking the officer to tell you that he could take you there. 3. The taxi that cost you 20 bucks, you could’ve took that car when the police stopped you and it could’ve been cheaper or the same.. and it would’ve been private car. I think it’s just the language barrier. All in all thank you and I’m sorry for the experience. In regards to the guy claiming random 20K, I’m not sure but it’s unheard off.. unless he’s bringing something in and we caught it.
Bruv, have you ever been to Thailand or Cambodia? Often times even though these countries are corrupt, they usually do help you. Also a bus is often a big can like they took. Not a giant western bus.
I can only assume that the Cambodian authorities simply DON'T CARE about the scammers trying to rip off tourists. Entering Thailand from any other country, things are straightforward.
@@OTWD_yt If you come back to Thailand, I recommend a city in the east of Thailand like Koh Chang, islands Chanthaburi, Trat, although it's not a very famous city, but if you like the sea, you should come to this city. I recommend Koh Chang island Koh kut island
Oh my goodness guys, great to find your channel that shows both the highs and lows of travelling! Going to catch up on your earlier content, cheers, Simon and Elaine👍
In Cambodia the most common way transportation is called a tuk tuk or use pass app which is an app that calls a nearby tuk tuk driver to your location.
thanks for the video. did you check about the poi pet train station to phnom penh over there and does it even operate? i could see a station on map but not much info about its existence
Thank you for sharing your story and i think this will help a lot of people to be aware whenever they travel to any poor countries because they will try to get your money in many way to survive and i can't fully blame them just trying to see the tomorrow light also i have seen the same events happend other than Cambodia such as Philipine, India, Indonesia and Laos which people will try to Scam, Steal, Rob, Bribe and even Killing you to get your money So my suggestion that you should study before and travel to any Countries that have better quality of life, money and Education so there will be less risking chance to meet those experience
Ummm they deleted my comment. So its all true they made up a lie? Their video made me scare to travel to Asia as I’m planning to go soon so I did some research and asked people around this is a click bait. I couldn't find any info about $4 she complaining about. The cheapest bus starting from 10$. $4 for 2hr ride???? Plus that good cop was trying to help them. Why would you talk bad about him? Such a shame for someone who born and raised in rich country with higher education can do such low class to poor country for views. Guys do your own research before believe this.
Best thing I did when I arrived in Cambodia was make friends with an immigration police officer. Everything was smooth sailing. VISA extension no worries and done super fast. Just accept you have to pay for things in life and you will enjoy it.
I understand the bribe at the border I understand the ‘free’ shuttles bus that is no longer available even though the sign remains to get travellers in. I understand the prices are directly based on you appearance. I understand you need to pay the bribe to get in. But I I also understand that’s the way it is. So it’s not the best but somebody needs to say something right?
I hope all travelers are safe and can go out with safely from Cambodia. When you come out of Cambodia into the land of Thailand border, you will be touched by your feelings of safety, friendliness, comfort. and delicious and cheap food,Welcome back to Thailand 😊😊
you should hv travelled from thailand (cross the border) to cambodia at prajinburi province NOT trad province. there are vans which will bring all tourists to cambodia for gambling which you can join the trip later you split from the group for your own purpose to sihanukville or angkor wat or whatever. DO NOT CROSS THE BORDER AT TRAD PROVINCE.
Dont know why my subscribers are commenting with links to this video saying you guys saying cruel things about Cambodia. I think your review was correct and the cop was deff out of his place.
Thank you brother. Just turning on the camera and showing what happens we want this to make a difference and help. It’s not nice to see what if we can make things better everyone’s experience in Cambodia can be better nothing but love ❤️
I’m Cambodian. I already view your video but it is not like what you put in the caption. The police is trying to help you. Like what he said. The local bus now stop working and the price from there to SR 9$ is good price. Even I am Cambodian. I also pay the same price foreigner sometime. So please check your caption carefully. That Caption is so bad to put like this.
I totally agree with you, that’s overestimating on Cambodia. You should have done more research on traveling inside the country that you plan to visit. The fact that the tourism police just wanted to help you, and he just wanted to do his job. It was just a misunderstanding of language that you had on him. Cambodia is still developing nation with a rich culture and long times history. Overall, please don’t overestimate Cambodia.
9$ is not expensive to siemreap, My people are friendly , Can you compare to other country about tranportation cost if you travel many country you will understand. And as a traveller you must check map and transportation before you go
Hmm...I didn't see you two get into a bus after all. I don't think the police officer was trying to get in on it. Also, the taxi guy was telling the police officer to persuade you to get into his car - but the police officer shook his head.
i dont understand these tourist, they only want to come but expect people sound give them cheap and free service, if its a price they not willing to pay then walk, dont say people are bad and trying to rip them off
Im a bit confused. So you found a local taxi that the local cambodians use and you paid 20 dollars? instead of going on a bus which can cost about 10 dollars for tourist from Phnom Penh to siem reap. you were looking for a local bus from the thai cambodian border to siem reap instead opt in for a taxi ?
So the bus wanted $30 each. Different company went down to $16 each. We wanted a local bus. There is no local buses in Cambodia lol we end up in a taxi with 10 people for $10 each still more than we wanted to pay but didn’t have a choice
The Policeman was trying to help you ! The driver was even trying to ask the police man to tell you to take his car, but the policeman said no. Bus fee of 9$ as opposed to 5$ ? Omg, what a scam he was trying to pull on you! chill and be more positive...
Clearly the entire video show no sign of scam. Just a click bait. These idiots are selfish. They should be arrested by Cambodian authorities to give them some lesson 😂
There is a language barrier. The White people think there are busses every where. They did not relize the country is not fully develope. I been to Bangkok people are rude and scam me within the first hour I step foot on the street.
Base on your video, actually they are taxi drivers and police try to help you. Maybe their English not so fluently that make you feel uncomfortable or misunderstand them. They are not scammers. Thank for visiting Cambodia 🇰🇭!
There ok just think the whole system is the problem. The whole things a nightmare. Just the government needs to address a public transport system or at least a set rate in writing ✍️
We also crossed the border Thailand - Cambodia, and didn’t had that kind of problems at all! Just say no, thank you and walk away. Simple as that. When the taxi driver were trying to convince us to go with them, we just said no and walk really confident, like we know what we are doing. This is 3 world country, they are trying everything to make money. They said there is no bus, so what? Just go and check it.
As a Thai, I've been to this border many times before the pandemic. Although Thai nationals don't need visa for traveling to Cambodia but the Khmer immigration always ask us to pay 100 baht. I have tried both pay or not pay. Pay: stamped without any questions. Not pay 1st & 2nd time: asked normal question like purpose of visit, length of stay, etc. Then stamped. Not pay 3rd time: (traveled as a group of 4 people) reduce to 200 for 4 people. Then stamped. Not pay 4th time: *threw my passport out of the window and walked out.* I kept waiting. Finally another officer came and stamped my passport. I have to say the truth that Thais are too easy for what we should not easy with by paying the bribe that we don't need to pay until these corrupted Khmer immigration officers get used to with that.
Whole thing a complete joke the fact everyone has to pay a bribe and the government does nothing about it is pure first hand embarrassment. Really hope things change.
I went to Thailand more than 10 times at other check points especially Chong chom or Chom Sangam Thai police immigration always asked for 100 bath every one passport! This is real no joke! for Poipet check point recently one of Thai Channel complained that Cambodian police immigration asked 150bath for vip fast check in ! But Thai police immigration asked for 500 bath for fast check in this happened long time ago until now ! before Covid only 300 bath now they asked for 500 bath ! The way they do is the same thing when they see many people Q up they just do it slowly and walk out from the stations they want passengers tired and go to the fast check in !! No one from Cambodian side willing to complain about this!
Easiest way by far is to take the direct bus from Bangkok to Siem Reap (or vice versa) unless you are coming from / going to some other part of the country. I’ve crossed Poipet several times and the shuttle hustle has stayed exactly the same for decades. It’s also possible to find a private taxi to Siem Reap after crossing but it takes some determination to walk far enough until you reach a zone where taxi drivers can take passengers and it will still cost almost the same as the bus (paid $30 ten years ago don’t know how much it would be now but shouldn’t be much more). To my knowledge the local bus runs only in mornings (for some “odd” reason).

At least that border point is a lot better than THE border point here in southeastern Thailand. It's heaven and hell there. A bustling street market on Thai side. A f*cking military base with tanks, artillery, assault helicopter and a gunboat on the other, Cambodian side. I lived in a village near that border for 5 years and I really wish that my border point is nearly as civilized as the one in the video. Shit is real over here.
I Think Thai Officer Is Too Bad Than , Keep Asking Money From Tourist For VIP If Not You Have To Stand For 2 Or 3 Hours . Waste The Time To Fucking Wired Thai Country 😅😅😅
You just have to go with a travel company. We went with TravelMart and they took us through the border smoothly. We had a local help us through customs and it was so stressful free. My Cambodian experience was so different. I found it to be a lovely country with very friendly people. Just be friendly and firm and they will respect you. Just walk away and don’t engage if you aren’t interested and they will leave you alone. Also remember getting ripped off in Cambodia is like getting ripped off by $1 or even cents. So don’t sweat getting ripped off it’s so cheap!
Used to cross that Poipet border twice (im Thai btw) yes the goverment officer (not sure if they police or just a civil servant) tried to ask for 5 usd but it was not difficult to deny them as Thai It is the different story for farang especially
At 5:13 she says, "$30 and 100 rupees". Neither Thailand nor Cambodia uses rupees. If it was 100 Thai baht, that would be US$2.70, if it was Khmer riels it would be less than three US cents. The fact that they tried to lie about having the money gives them two strikes and we are still at 5:29. At 6:28 they withdraw 1 million Khmer riels. Don't these lying travelers know that you use US dollars in Cambodia. At 9:40 she is upset that the police tried to traslate for her. I think he was pretty clear that there were no buses. As it turns out they took a cramped SUV ride for $20 when there are nice Cambolink mini-vans that cost $16. I regularily eat for a dollar a meal in Cambodia, but if you buy roast chicken you'll end up paying more. This is not a helpful video.
She knows that lol we spend so long in Sri Lanka an india. Don’t you know they use Cambodian riel aswell as US dollar in Cambodia? So what makes us lying tourists? If you get scammed at this border don’t say we didn’t warn you. I doubt you would notice 😂 thanks for watching
@@OTWD_yt I don't really care where else you've been. So what was it $2.70 or 3 cents? I'm all for honest reviews, but if you tell an official that you have no cash, but then later pull out cash and pay, that helpful guy on the motorcycle should have run you in. Of course they use riels in Cambodia. It's the only place in the world where they have value. The wise and informed tourist knows you pay with dollars and get rid of the riels as soon as possible. Locals just pay with a bank app. I have crossed that border several times since 2001. Nobody walks (well except mad dogs and Englishmen). There are morcycles and tuktuks that can take you anywhere. Jeeeez, thank you for the video guys. I am fairly shocked to see all this that's happening. Is there not a trusted company or guides you can trust to help you find your way?
I went from Bangkok to SR a few years back on a Giant Ibis bus which was a little more expensive than others but they guided the passengers through the Poipet border quite well. It helps to do some online research of the feedback about the various bus companies. We left Bangkok around 6am and reached SR before dark. It was also helpful to have our hotel arrange a tuk tuk to pick us up at the Siem Reap bus depot on the outskirts of town.
Cambodia is a wonderful country to visit - good food, friendly people and nice climate. I have been about 40 times during the last 20 years. Poipet is not my favourite border crossing but there is a free shuttle to the bus station and from there buses to Siem Reap and Phnom Penh- although PP is a long journey. Do not be put off from visiting a wonderful country.
I wish you both to meet the real scammers since they were trying to help and you talk shit about them. I love this country and love my adopted son from Cambodia.
I rather we didn’t meet any real scammers not a dig at the country or the people just making people aware of the the many issues with this boarder crossing which you would agree is not a great first impression for the country
Thank you both for visiting my country, Cambodia! Actually, the police was trying to help you to get on the bus to Siem Reap. And the taxi man told the police that his car also driving to Siem Reap too. My recommendation for this, you should take a bus in stead of taxi to avoid overloading (I feel you since I had experience that too, but this is not unusual). The price is cheaper as well. Last, I am really sorry that you have encountered unpleasant experience like this. Of course, there are good and bad people all over the world, I hope you remember us that we have amazing place to visit like Angkor Wat temple, Preah Vihea temple, Sihanouk vile beach and so many beautiful places. You are always welcomed to Cambodia. 😍
When you get to Siam reap the best thing to do is firstly hire a bicycle for the 10 days of your stay and then immediately go one km outside of the center and get a much better value hotel😀 Because all the hotels near the city center are double the price.😀
I had my wallet stolen from me in Cambodia. In their hands they had knives. Trying to hurt me Surprisingly, I called for help. People in that area looked at it as normal
Tbh I live in Cambodia and I love enjoy living here but some of the tourist might not enjoy having a good day there because of some scammer or something else that make them feel unsafe but anyway thanks for visiting our beautiful country and also when I saw this video I feel like I'm little mad at it but it's ok.
Pretty sure the visa on arrival price varies from time to place. Coming from Vietnam it was $35, and as I recall that was printed on the "official" sign. I think the extra $5 is supposed to be a "processing fee". No problem.
There is a sign it that say $30 the extra is a bribe. It is. It’s been verified by many other people. Not an issue we paid it everyone pays it it’s just what the Cambodian officials do you don’t need to pay it entering Thailand or Vietnam
@@OTWD_yt FYI, you're not wrong in that the visa does cost $30, but there is a processing fee which varies from place to place. Similarly, you can get an e-visa for $30, but again, $6 processing fee to use a credit card...
@@DonRoberts-zy1kt it’s $30 usd cash only usd. At the boarder and there is no processing fee. The processing fee is a bribe. You do not get a processing fee for a cash payment my friend. 😂
I'm Thai. I went thought that border last week and was asked for ฿100 fee. I didn't pay and pointed to the sticker on the immigration booth said "No payment here" The taxi was also try to scam drop off somewhere not the hotel.
I refused to pay the bribe and didn't have to. I asked if there was a sign or something and after a minute he let me through. That was back in 2010 though.
Around 10 years ago i had my first trip to Cambodia through that border. It was hectic, everything seemed difficult. Got scold by the officers at the border. Found minivan full with other tourists to Siam reap and it took us 20$ each. Old unadjustable seats along way to siam reap. After the trip i decided not to get through this border again. My second trip to Siam reap was on a flight which was much better but i think im done with this country.
You go to Thailand and just pass through Cambodia you think it ok to do that? you lucky that Cambodian not a bad country and let you to cross the border to see their temple for just 20$, you think that 20$ is really matters? Cambodia culture is reaches In culture the very old that full of history and wonder you think 20 for 2 or 3 day to pass throw the borders is really important to you? Please think one more time bro.

I agree I’d Always advise the we’ve done land boarder crossing all over the world no problems but different here lol 😂
good to know but the problem is, there aren't that many international flights into Siem Reap or PP so it's not about saving money it's actually about accessibility.
It went ok.
@@petergregory5537 same I would never use the land boarder again.

An immigration checkpoint that tricks tourists into money. Do it as a process and systematically. These people are ready to deceive you have to be more careful. Even real Thai people travel to neighboring countries will find it but since they were aware of the game, these people managed to survive. With love from Spain 💋💋
I agree ❤️
So in Thailand there are no scammers?
But we got held at the immigration office of Thailand at the border for no reason at all and a guy who seems to be a fixer keeps on approaching us to transact with him so we could pass through the border.
I’m thai but laos and vietnam have a lot of nice and kind ppl too and they got very beautiful country. And if u go there don’t forget thailand tho😂
From my perspective both country ppl is nice they quite kind and humble.
Not sure about the systems and police but ppl that’s not scammer is nice and kind.
It’s just as same as thailand we’r full of scammer around foreigner area too.😢
Cambodia got dictatorship and most strong propaganda around here.
So u may found corrupted systems there more than other country around here.
Other like malaysia, philipine, indonesia, SG is nice too
Myanmar ppl is also a lot of good ppl,
just wait the civil war to cooldown after that should be another good place to check it out.
One more thing,
Laos and thai language is kind of similar.
Let say it’s like italy and spain language i guess, Similar.
So if u knew thai language to know laos gonna be easier.

Even just by walking on a footpath and you'll get threaten to pay BY THE POLICE the amount they ask, with gun aiming at you. These are my experience by touring in Cambodia for 1 week from Phnom Penh to Sihaknouville and I get f*ck all the way.
Sorry which spot were you Ransome.
Cheers!
In Poipet Also Have Bus Station Name Virak Buntham And Also Have Train Station With A Nice Price More Comfortable Than Bangkok 🤩🤩🤩
Would definitely fly in future land boarder are stressful 😂
Reasonable and you get more experience
Have fun when you get to Vietnam! I hope it will be a better experience than what you had in Cambodia. ❤
Did you watch the whole video? you’ll know how we got to siem reap. Appreciate the comment helps us out ❤️

Thank you Ashik ❤️😊
They want more money 💰 🤑 💸
What public transport? 😂 would definitely flying in if we went again❤️
It's only a hassle if you're clueless😅
And we get some stick from locals (only a few) for showing this. But if you don’t like it don’t allow this stuff to happen. Needs to be shared!

And as a traveller you must check map and transportation before you go
Welcome to Thailand friendly and smile for you sir❤❤

Hmm...I didn't see you two get into a bus after all. I don't think the police officer was trying to get in on it. Also, the taxi guy was telling the police officer to persuade you to get into his car - but the police officer shook his head.
i dont understand these tourist, they only want to come but expect people sound give them cheap and free service, if its a price they not willing to pay then walk, dont say people are bad and trying to rip them off
@@charlesleong7412 Of Course , I Am Feel Weird With These Tourists
Peace ✌️ ❤️
Clearly the entire video show no sign of scam. Just a click bait. These idiots are selfish. They should be arrested by Cambodian authorities to give them some lesson 😂

Always fly from Bangkok to Siem Reap. Might be less adventures but flights are cheap and avoids a lot of stress.
Definitely would fly really not worth the hassle. An experience but would want to do that again 😂
Thanks for sharing, good to know!! We flew to Cambodia!!
Good idea lol
Good on you 👍❤️
As a Thai, I've been to this border many times before the pandemic.
Thats why we call them khamen or khmoi
At the time of recording the direct bus wasn’t available. That virus we all believe in stopped that 😂
I am from Cambodia and I understand what the police said he not try to scam you he really want to helping you guys take care guys

Hi buddie just passport visa on arrival. so there’s a separate booth for visas.

If I'm being honest, the entire video was an OOPS. Try again, be better.

Think there’s a couple of bus companies that will take you directly from Bangkok to siem reap. I think flying is probably the best option though.
@@OTWD_yt Awesome, thank you! The reason why I am asking is because there is a school desperately looking for TEFL teachers.
