Well when it’s laminated glass and there are 3 1/2 inch glass layers with 2 1/8 inch layers of polyvinyl butyral it won’t be simple to break… even a elephant would have trouble getting thru it. @@pooppoop2767 I think you are possibly missing a point that the comment and laugh from the apparent mother has ramifications as a matter of philosophy or personal policy of conduct out side of this specific time and location. The child could be influenced by this chain of events and attitudes to make bad decisions in other circumstanses in the future like the woman in Anchorage who many years ago went past barriers at the zoo and ended up almost being killed by the resident polar bear and wasn't because of the bravery of fellow zoo goers. She was an adult no less and a reasonable assumption is that a child would be even more susceptible to bad or unwise communications from trusted adults. There was also a lesser known incident where some younger gentlemen went completely inside the enclosure and at least one was grievously injured. A third incident was never reported to the general public that easily could have been fatal. A false sense of security could lead this child to make bad decisions with respect to endless hypothetical encounters with anything from a wild bear or elk to an aggressive domestic dog etc.. Also this arguably dismissive attitude is objectionable when it is multiplied by seemingly countless other individuals and other places and times. I imagine this mother is good to her son and thoughtful most of the time but an untruth is seldom a good choice when other options can achieve the same goal with less risk.

Anyone who has watched any documentaries about Polar Bears knows that is exactly how they break the ice to get into dens to eat seals and their babies, that pouncing motion. It concentrates the pressure into the ice, making it give way. Good thing that glass held up.

I think you are possibly missing a point that the comment and laugh from the apparent mother has ramifications as a matter of philosophy or personal policy of conduct out side of this specific time and location.
It appears that we have some of us left behind……..

@@terri6854 you want to do that, hug them and say it’ll be okay, don’t imply the something different than what the bear was intending. If that bear could, it would have killed the boy. His reaction is the reaction of anyone with two brain cells. His mother telling him the bear is friendly after it was being aggressive is stupid because the boy will assume aggressive behavior is a sign of friendship. The bear did not want to say hi, it wanted to kill. Period. Teaching your child to ignore its natural fight or flight instincts is bad parenting and peak Darwinism.
